TL;DR
Popular Long-Lasting Fragrances
Several fragrances were repeatedly mentioned across discussions for their lasting power. Mugler Alien is often cited as a perfume that lasts "forever" [2:1],
[2:3]. Kilian's perfumes, particularly "Black Phantom" and "Love," are praised for their long-lasting nature
[3:1]. YSL Libre Intense is another favorite that lives up to its name with extended wear time
[2:1],
[2:5].
Designer vs. Niche Fragrances
There is a consensus that niche fragrances tend to offer better longevity compared to designer scents. Portrait of a Lady, Ombré Nomade, and Santal 33 are examples of niche fragrances that provide "beast mode" longevity [2:2]. While designer fragrances like Marc Jacobs Daisy and Burberry Her are popular, they may not last as long as some niche options
[1:2],
[5:2].
Application Techniques
How you apply your fragrance can significantly affect its longevity. Applying perfume to hair or clothes can extend its duration [2:4]. Ensuring your skin is well-moisturized before application can also help, as dry skin tends to absorb scent quickly. Using a neutral-scented massage bar on pulse points before spraying perfume is another technique to make the scent last longer
[4:3].
Layering Scents
Layering similar scented products can create a scent bubble that enhances longevity. This involves using complementary perfumes or scented lotions to build a more enduring fragrance profile [2:4]. Some users have successfully layered Philosophy Amazing Grace with Glossier You to achieve a lasting signature scent
[5:1].
Additional Recommendations
Other perfumes noted for their staying power include Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, which reportedly lasts all day with just one spray [5:9], and Lord of Misrule, which withstands even hot afternoons and workouts
[5:5]. For those interested in unique scents, Karma from Lush offers a long-lasting orange and patchouli fragrance
[5:11].
I’ve recently gotten more into fragrance, and I love so many of our scents here at the store, but I’m so surprised how many I’ve tried out now that don’t last longer than 2 hours. I fell in love with Ariana’s new Mod Blush but had the same problem :( Any strong recommendations?
Burberry Her and Marc jacobs daisy Intense
I love Burberry her!
J'dore by Dior
La Vie Est Belle by Lacome, I want Choo by Jimmy Choo, Idole by Lacome, Very Good Girl by Carolina Herrera
Light Blue
Carolina Herrera. All of them. Even the colognes.
Valentino. Except the coral. It smells great, but it doesn't stick. At least on me it doesn't.
my perfumes literally never last. i’m honestly not too fussy, i just want to know what some of your recommendations of actyally strong perfumes are, again i really don’t mind what it smells like to an extent i just want it to last longer than an hour
Portrait of a Lady, Ombré Nomade, Followed, Santal 33, La Capitale, Guidance, etc..
you likely just need to fork over the cash if you want a beast mode frag. I find that dupes and designer frags rarely have eternal longevity. go niche.
Alien will last until the next century and beyond.
A recent buy that lasts surprisingly well on me is Kate Spade Sparkle.
Zara Fields at Nightfall survived a hike of a few hours in hot Japanese summer weather.
I tested Black Opium during a very humid night hike in a rainforest in Costa Rica and it lasted very well too.
you have been on adventures omg
I have! I love going on adventures
There are techniques for extending a fragrance.
First, where are you applying? Spraying to the hair or clothes often extends
How much are you applying? You might be under spraying. Different perfumes require different amounts.
Is your skin well moisturized? Dry skin often eats up scent. Apply lotion or Vaseline to fragrance application points can extend fragrance. Future society even makes a perfume primer.
Have you tried layering? Layering means applying similar scented products to create a scent bubble. You can use complimentary perfume oils, body mists, body motions, etc..
Bianco latte is the strongest vanilla scent I have in my collection.
Baccarat rouge is pretty potent.
Escentric molecules are designed for longevity. They can be worn by themselves or easily layered with other fragrances.
thabk you !!!
I either have sampled or own all of these! So I can personally vouch for how lasting they are 💕
Kerosene's fragrances persist on the skin, especially Walk the Sea, Promises, Promises, and Summer of 84 in my experience.
YSL Libre Intense lives up to the name beautifully.
Nishane Wulong Cha X, Alkemia Honored Ghosts, Nest Indigo, and Chasing Scents Tea Service and Rain Tea are all tea-forward fragrances from my collection that last. 🍵 ✨️
BBW Fresh Coconut and Cotton blows my more expensive clean perfumes out of the water, and it's a fragrance mist!
Malie Koke'e is the cleanest, prettiest wet rainforest in a bottle that lasts forever! Seriously, I can't wear this unless I'm feeling truly committed to catching whiffs of this one all day. Good thing its spa-like and refreshing.
Alchemie de Rochas is this gorgeous vintage perfume that I only have to dab a little on in a couple of places, and voila, that's it! Potent and lingering.
Zoologist Bee, I sprayed on early evening and woke up still able to smell the next morning. Zoologist, in general, as a fragrance house, is simply impressive, with Hummingbird and Rabbit coming second and third in terms of sillage!!
Imaginary Authors Whiff of Wafflecone is another perfume that feels very much like a commitment. Some would call it nuclear. I like it, but I get bored of it on its own, so I choose to usually layer it with Olympic Orchids Seattle Chcolate... which also lasts.
Hopefully, something I mentioned is of interest to you!
they all sound so nice thabk you so much !!
I second mugler alien it lasts forever like you’ll have to change/wash your clothes to stop smelling it hahah
Ysl libre la perfum or intense versions
Aquolina Pink sugar
Br540
Really anything that says parfum has the best longevity , avoid cologne and edt
I love Valentino’s born in Roma- coral fantasy but I feel like it has no staying power. For something so expensive I’d rather try something else. What are the longest lasting perfumes you guys have tried?
Are you buying eau de parfum or eau de toilette? Because EDP will stay much longer than the equivalent EDT.
The Valentino is eau de parfum! I just feel like it only lasts an hour or so. I’d gladly pay more for something that lasts longer and smells similar!
Pure Poison by Dior is one of my absolute faves (very spicy and warm). Daisy by Marc Jacobs is a great one, too. Bella Blanca by Oscar De La Renta is another spring favy. Rose Radiant Gold by Michael Kors is divine (a summer favorite). For a clean scent, Happy by Clinique. For an every day scent that fades nicely, Arsenic by Tokyo Milk.
YSL - Libro - my favourite
Kors by Michael Kors. Just stay away from musk and mothballs that's way to strong.
Every perfume I’ve tried by the brand Kilian lasts forever and a little goes a longgggg way. My favorites are “Black Phantom” and “Love”.
I'm thinking about buying some perfumes, which perfumes in your opinions are the longest lasting and strongest?
Your mileage may vary but the Hello Kitty perfume lasts 8 hours on me easily
You’re lucky! It’s only noticeable on me for a few hours and other reviewers on Fragrantica also agree that the sillage and lasting power is moderate; I wish I could find a longer lasting version! If this lasted longer, I’d buy multiple bottles.
Chelsea Morning. Also I have recently found that if I swipe a neutral scented massage bar on my pulse points and THEN spray perfume, it lasts much longer!
I’m going to try this with Chelsea morning. It has zero longevity for me and I love the scent so much!
Zero longevity is Chelsea Morning’s middle name.
Chelsea Morning is notoriously short lasting
not for me, it lasts all day. I actually get sick of it sometimes, it lasts so long
It’s my favorite but doesn’t last on me at allll
Does it smell diff then the shower gel?
Maybe a bit more peppery but the vanilla comes through after a bit on me
Rose Jam is great for this if you like it
LOL so real 😂
I know it's not the most sophisticated option but I've had a lot of luck with Marc Jacob's Daisy. Sweet and light and floral.
ALSO! Karma from Lush - it's their best selling perfume for a reason. Orange and patchouli, real 70's incense vibes.
I love Marc Jacob’s Daisy. it really does stay!!
If you like sweeter fruity scents Burberry Her lasts for everrr on me.
huh- i use the blossom and it doesn't last at alllll. but i love it so i do what i can.
I’ve never used the blossom one, just the original EDP
Flowerbomb Viktor&Rolf for fall and winter Daisy for for spring and summer Also this little bottle that says amber from Whole Foods its $13 but it literally says amber in the front and alcohol free fragrance on the side and has almost like an oil texture??? Idk if it counts buuuuut it smells so delicate and fresh and truly lasts all day. Idk how to describe the smell other than delicate but it’s a scent you could inhale all day and not get sick of like sweet/floral/vanilla/musky scents
For me it's bonbon. My favourite Viktor & Rolf scent. Get so many compliments. Love flowerbomb on other people but doesn't seem to suit me
I just bought Lord of Misrule and it’s staying power is no joke! I lasted a whole hot afternoon and a sweaty workout, and someone came up to me at the end of my workout to ask what perfume I was wearing
I wanted to like Decadence because I love Daisy and the scent does last a long time, but it smells like bread and butter pickles to me.
Chanel coco mademoiselle . One spray and people will tell me at the end of the day how good I smell.
I layer philosophy amazing grace and glossier you and it lasts and lasts and I get compliments all the time and am known by the smell now ☺️
Glossier? I used Amazing Grace and I want it to last longer
I'm quite new to fragrance but having a great time learning about this community. My chief complaint with all the fragrances I've tried, though, is they never seem to last very long - if I'm spending hundreds on a scent, I really want it to at least last my whole work shift or evening out!
What are some fragrances you've tried that stay on all day?
Perfumer here. Longevity hasn't much to do with price.
Some scents families are weaker than others: for instance, a citrusy fragrance won't last as long as, say, a woody one.
Many factors also affect the longevity (or the way you perceive it): your skin (pH, hydration, temperature), "nose blindness"...
I personally like non-linear fragrances: I mean those whose scents will evolve through distinct stages, rather than one that will remain the same, strong and noticeable.
These are good points.
Also, the concentration of a fragrance may affect longevity. Eaux de Toilette are less concentrated than Eaux de Parfum, which are less concentrated than Extraits de Parfum. Typically the more concentrated ones will last longer.
Some people become 'nose blind' to a fragrance faster when they spray a lot, especially close to their head (neck, shoulders). I normally just spray one or two spritzes on my wrists, back of hands, or inside the elbow if I am not wearing long sleeves. I have never had a problem with longevity, and many of my fragrances can last all day. Maybe it's my skin chemistry, or my nose may be more sensitive to smells, but I figure not overspraying doesn't hurt, for social reasons if nothing else.
On concentration: it's generally true that parfums last longer than eaux de parfum, eaux de parfums than eau de toilette, etc. However, in many cases, it's not that simple. If the base is not designed to last (because of choice of notes, aromachemicals...), having it more concentrated won't do much.
Many people are surprised that their cheap supermarket fragrance (almost always marketed as eaux de toilette) lasts all day, while those from higher end maisons don't, even if that's an EDP.
From the fragrances I've tried it would be Mancera Red Tobacco. You can't scrub that stuff off if you wanted to. Even after a shower I could still smell it. Its an acquired taste though and I didn't care for it.
^ This. Red Tobacco is nuclear. The only fragrance I’ve been able to clearly smell after a full 24 hours on my skin. I personally love the stuff but it’s definitely not for everyone.
Dior Sauvage Elixir hands down
Much more likeable than Dior Sausage
My experience is anything that you hate the smell of lasts at least 24 hours through scrubbing and showers.
🤣👍🏼😂
MFK. That stuff will last till the next day!
I'm on the hunt for a perfume that actually lasts all day without reapplying. So many scents fade too fast! What are your favorite long-lasting perfumes / oil for daily wear or special occasions?
Amouage Guidance lasted days. I took a shower and could still smell it.
Crazy I didn't know Guidance was so long lasting! When I'm at Amouage I tend to lose my mind and spray so many things on me and I never knew which one was actually lasting 🤣
Same here. It’s one of my all-time favourites. I even apply oil beforehand, but it still doesn’t last on me. To be fair, nothing lasts more than an hour on my skin, not even heavy gourmands. It probably comes down to skin type and chemistry
Coco Chanel lasts sooo long on me. To the point that after a 12hr shift it’s still smells strong.
Mademoiselle is my daily and I can smell it on my shirt the next day. I had a FWB tell me other women could smell me on his sheets. 😆
Coco lasts forever on me too, I love it in the winter
On my mom it does last forever I agree!!!!
One of my top favorites but doesn’t last on me (and it’s so expensive given the longevity).
Just shows how everyone's skin is different. I can smell this all day long and into the next morning.
My absolute favorite by Amouage, I hope I'll one day own a bottle
Haha, I was just sniffing myself to see if I could still smell it, I applied it about 6 hours ago and it's very weak. I wish it lasted longer on me.
Think warm pear oatmeal cooked with almond milk and rosewater. Or the scent someone leaves in the air after they used a luxe floral hair mist and layered it over a rich vanilla body cream. I can’t stand BR540 and I’m not a fan of the rose note, but this one is in my top 3.
I’m interested in what everyone’s current (purchased over the past year) top picks are in terms of lasting power. I’ve found myself let down lately over repurchased fragrance staples that used to linger forever.
My current top picks for longevity are:
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Dolce Garden, D&G L’imperatrice Any of the replica fragrances
Projection isn’t as important to me as longevity (though I love a bold scent).
Note: I spray on clothes.
Angel Fantasm lasts for days. Aura Sensuelle (discontinued but I got it a month or two ago) lasts for a couple weeks. Angel Nova is eternal. I don't have a full bottle but I have a decant and I've tested in store a couple times. I picked up my hoodie that I haven't worn in a few months and I'm still getting hints of Nova.
What’s Angel Fantasm like? 👀
I don't smell pineapple aroma chemicals very well in general. So for me, it's a very creamy coconut, amber, vanilla beautifully blended together with patchouli, a hint of citrus to brighten it, the floral tiare adds a bit of extra depth. It doesn't smell gourmand to me. It's my favorite in-production perfume (favorite of all time is Aura Sensuelle) and I wore it today for my first appointment with a new therapist (online) because it's cozy and beautiful and helped regulate my anxiety a bit. Apparently it doesn't have a lot of projection. I can smell it perfectly well on my shirt but my husband had to get close to smell it. But it is very long lasting with just one spray.
Every Matiere Premiere I’ve touched has stuck around for days, even when I wanted it to go away. 😂
Theres something for everyone here!
For a clean citrus: Kerosene Summer of 84
For a woody, vanilla gourmand: Imaginary Authors Memoirs of a Trespasser
For a citrusy green tea: Nishane Wulong Cha X
For a fruity black tea: Vilhelm Parumerie Dear Polly
For a vanilla patchouli: Lush Lord of Misrule
For a salty, musky marine: Kerosene Walk the Sea
For THE warm, honeyed gourmand: Zoologist Bee
Forgot to include one! In general, Kerosene fragrances tend to be long-lasting.
Always nice to see Memoirs of a Trespasser showing up in these lists. Appreciate you including it among such incredible heavy hitters.
It's completely deserved! Literally one of the first perfumes I thought of when I saw this post. ✨️
Excellent choices.
I recently bought Rouge Trafalgar (Esprit de Parfum) from the Dior Privée Collection. Probably my top fragrance of all time now, 2 sprays last the whole day and just gets better as it dries down.
Initial spray is a burst of strawberry and red berry fruits, dried down to a vanilla and sweet rose. I have never smelled anything like it and honestly am so obsessed with it.
Most of my Jo Malones also last the whole day and I’m not such a sprayer, 2-4 sprays.
Burberry her elixer! Usually my skin eats up perfume so fast but istg this one stays on for 24 hours, can smell it when im going to bed after spraying in the morning. Plus it smells delicious.
100% same! I always get compliments hours after I’ve sprayed it. I love it
1000% same!! I just commented this. I just ordered a new bottle after getting a $40 gift card and I can’t wait.
YSL Libre intense. It lasts so long that it becomes me
This is the answer! I shower and still smell it on me THE NEXT DAY 😂
Killian angel share. I can still smell it on my skin the next morning and on my jacket/hoodie several days later.
Yes! Which I’m good with, because it’s one of my favorites, so I know I can get a lot of lasting wear and make my bottles last longer 😝
Word. I have to use this so sparingly because it's so potent.
Great scent, though.
Came here to say this one too, Fortunately, I love it.
Non-Sephora: Finer'y's Cherry, the due for Tom Ford's Lost Cherry. Sticks around forever.
Oh, I was on another thread looking for lost cherry dupes so this is perfect. Is that fine'ry not another cherry? It's the closest I could find googling.
Chanel parfums in general
If I spray Chanel on my clothes it will stick forever until I wash them. The price is way worth it imo
Hey y’all!! I’ve probably bought every sephora favorites perfume box in an effort to find a perfume that lasts ALL day for me. The most i’ve ever had success with is gucci bloom and i feel like i can still smell it on me the next day. Have y’all had any similar experiences to other brands or pefumes? Also is all of gucci like that? Thank you!!
chanel coco mademoiselle lasts the next day for me!
Carolina Herrera GoodGirl and YSL Libre is Saur Good
Dior addict!!!
I lovvved their fraiche! I dnt know why its not available in Sephora Canada.
That’s odd it’s available at my sephora
don't forget the 4x points please on all fragrances!
I find Dior perfumes have some of the best longevity of most of the Sephora brands I’ve tried.
They also have the best atomizers from my experience.
I REAAALLLLLY miss the original Tendre Poison
Best long lasting perfumes
Key Considerations for Long-Lasting Perfumes:
Concentration: Look for perfumes with higher concentrations of fragrance oils, such as Eau de Parfum (EDP) or Parfum, as they tend to last longer than Eau de Toilette (EDT) or body sprays.
Fragrance Notes: Choose perfumes with base notes like amber, musk, vanilla, or woods, as these tend to linger longer on the skin compared to lighter top notes like citrus or floral.
Skin Type: Consider your skin type; perfumes tend to last longer on oily skin compared to dry skin. Applying lotion before spraying can help enhance longevity.
Application Method: Apply perfume to pulse points (wrists, neck, behind ears) and consider layering with matching body lotion or oil for increased staying power.
Brand Reputation: Some brands are known for their long-lasting fragrances, so researching reviews and recommendations can help guide your choice.
Top Recommendations:
Creed Aventus: Known for its unique blend of fruity and woody notes, it has excellent longevity and is highly regarded in the fragrance community.
Tom Ford Black Orchid: A rich, sensual scent with a mix of floral and earthy notes, it offers a long-lasting experience.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle: This classic fragrance combines citrus and floral notes with a warm base, providing lasting power throughout the day.
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium: A sweet and spicy scent that is popular for its longevity and unique character.
Dior Sauvage: A fresh and spicy fragrance that is well-loved for its strong sillage and lasting power.
Recommendation: When choosing a long-lasting perfume, consider testing samples or travel sizes first to see how they perform on your skin. This will help ensure you find a scent that not only lasts but also suits your personal style.
