What Redditors are Saying

Best Maps for PvP in Escape from Tarkov

TL;DR

  • Customs and Factory are consistently recommended for PvP.
  • Reserve and Labs offer intense PvP but come with challenges like cheaters.
  • Lighthouse and Woods can be hit or miss depending on player density.

Customs

Customs is widely regarded as one of the best maps for PvP due to its versatility and frequent encounters [1:1][2:1][4:4]. The map offers various engagement ranges, making it suitable for different play styles. Key areas such as Dorms and the Big Red zone are hotspots for gunfights [4:5]. While some players feel that the recent expansions have increased rat spots [3:6], others appreciate the added complexity [3:11].

Factory

Factory is known for its close-quarters combat and high-intensity PvP. It is often recommended for players looking to improve their PvP skills quickly [2:1][4:3]. However, its small size and straightforward layout may not appeal to everyone seeking more strategic engagements [4:8].

Labs

Labs is inherently designed for PvP with valuable loot and challenging AI enemies [1:5]. Despite its potential for exciting encounters, the prevalence of cheaters has made it less appealing to many players [1:5][2:4]. Some players still venture into Labs for the thrill, but it's not universally recommended [2:1].

Reserve

Reserve is praised for its design, which forces players through bottlenecks, increasing the likelihood of encounters [4:1]. While some players find it underpopulated [2:3], others appreciate the opportunities for strategic outplays [2:2].

Lighthouse and Woods

Opinions on Lighthouse and Woods vary significantly. Lighthouse is described as both a PvP hotspot and a ghost town, depending on the player's experience [1:3][1:4]. Woods offers good PvP opportunities but can be inconsistent [3:1][3:2]. Both maps require players to adapt to varying levels of player density and engagement styles.

Overall, the choice of map for PvP in Tarkov depends heavily on personal preference and play style. Customs and Factory remain top choices for consistent PvP action, while other maps offer unique challenges and rewards.

ORIGINAL POST

I came back after a long break and already knew that a lot of players have left but the lack of PvP is kinda insane. I have tried every map. The only map I find PvP is customs. Is anyone finding actual PvP on any other maps. I am going insane running through maps shooting scavs.

Labs or Factory.
With the new event Factory is particulary heavy in PVP right now its pretty good

Definitely not Lighthouse. I might find another player on 1 in every 4 or 5 raids. It's great for my SR% and bank account but it's pretty boring

6 upvotes on reddit
violent_luna123 · 1 year ago

What, Lighthouse is like the PvP danger, filled with players around every corner and they also love to run to the big settlement

I don't play it because its too dangerous and I cant even chill on this map

That may have been true early wipe, but it's basically a ghost town now. I'm on US east, so it's not even like I'm playing a middle of nowhere server. I put off learning the map since it's my first wipe and I'm regretting it a bit now.

Reserve or customs, unless you enjoy labs

4 upvotes on reddit
YeetedSloth · 1 year ago

Labs is inherently a great map. The status it has gained because of cheaters has ruined it. Because of the status, more cheaters go and less legit players go, thus making the problem worse and the status worse. It’s a vicious cycle that can only get worse

2 upvotes on reddit

Deftly_Flowing · 1 year ago

I'm gonna hafta disagree.

The SVT/AVT ruined labs since it incentivized people to come in with ~100k kits that could kill people wearing slicks/altyns etc. And you can easily hit 3 or 4 special spawns in the first minute or two of the match and more often than not pay for your kit. No risk for all the reward.

Before labs just had the reputation of being cheater-infested (which it was) but that had actually fallen off cause BSG nerfed the loot into oblivion in all the colored rooms leaving just open loot outside. The loot was still good but nowhere near as good as the alternatives at the time.

So for 2 or 3 wipes the loot wasn't great but the PvP was top tier with lobbies full of high leveled people wearing the most meta shit you could find.

Then the SVT era hit and loot was buffed and now it sucks again cause it has cheaters and poor people trying to jam as much loot up their ass as possible.

Imo customs is the best for its versatility, you can go any range you want there and find some mayhem. In terms of showcasing skill I think reserve holds the highest potential for outplaying, dorms is very limited.

Customs and Factory at first. Later on move to shoreline and reserve. Labs is okay but not really suggested. Interchange is not a good map to PVP due to the terrible lighting and everyone camping corners.

Grounds Zero hands down. If I want mindlessly run pvp I go there.

11 upvotes on reddit

This is the answer. Whenever I want some quick pvp I run ground zero. You see a lot of platoons, but there’s several spots on ground zero that are perfect for taking on platoons solo.

I love interchange. Some spawns are crappy, but the flow of the inside of the mall is a lot of fun

12 upvotes on reddit

My issue with interchange is the vertical audio and player scavs. I feel like getting into longer fights is impossible without getting swarmed.

4 upvotes on reddit
glfpunk72 · 5 months ago

Same with shoreline. Health Resort fights used to be a lot of fun but the audio is so jacked up there now

8 upvotes on reddit
xHAcoreRDx · 5 months ago

Honestly, it depends on your play style. I'm ratty but I'm also willing to rotate to fights or at least pickup scraps. That said, if I don't have an optimal spawn to get into the mall "first" on my side I'll rotate through garage and loot there, and pop up where I hear the least amount of action to loot.

If I'm there to pvp specifically, I'll push into the mall and get to second floor immediately and rotate towards the side with shots first since you'll likely third party someone responding to the sound of action

Labs hands down. When there isn’t a cheater it’s the best.

THEcurryman23 · OP · 5 years ago

How does customs PvP compare to, say, Reserve?

2 upvotes on reddit
kikuchad · 5 years ago

Don't play a lot of reserve but I would say the design of the map forces players to go through only a handful of paths to cross it so you are bound to meet other PMCs.

Dorms gives you nice CQC without too much of the sound bullshit you get in resort or reserv. Gas station area with shortcut, exit key door, and rocks overlook gives nice back and forth, flanking possibilities and so on.

Also no big no man land of wasted space like in shoreline.

I consider it the perfect balanced map, and the most fun to play while you're late game and looking for pvp.

What is the best map to get more pvp experiences?

Posted by Its_Knova · in r/DayzXbox · 7 months ago

Currently I only play chernarus just because I want to really get the map down but once you get more inland pvp becomes rare…at least in my experience.

My question is what map have you personally noticed heavy pvp on an official server? Are all the maps the same in their playability

(Been playing for almost 2 weeks.)

Livonia high pop server is the best for pvp in official. you can of course find a pvp deathmatch server, prison riot for example

2 upvotes on reddit
RIPTrixYogurt · 7 months ago

I promise you Livonia high pop is what you’re looking for. Geared interactions are a little more sparse, but low-mid gear interactions are abundant. Any of the spawn towns (maybe outside Belawa and Lukow?) you’ll see folks

2 upvotes on reddit
Bid-Silly · 7 months ago

Find a map that has high population... even then you cans till run around for hours without seeing anyone..

Pick a Community server with High X loot so youll have full on gun fights at the coast

2 upvotes on reddit
Big_Association3350 · 7 months ago

If your going community servers, then Kum Town is the top spot. You dont start with anything, so it's more tailored to a real game scenario. Loot is boosted and there is a loot barrier preventing people from leaving the area making people more common.

1 upvotes on reddit
Bid-Silly · 7 months ago

I have played that briefly... too much of a custom map for my old Xbox 1 . Lags too much to have a smooth play for me

2 upvotes on reddit
Brooker2 · 7 months ago

Livonia is great for pvp. The spawn towns are usually cracking off constantly, but the further south you go, especially towards the bunker, the higher chance you'll have of geared players ambushing you. A smaller map equals better encounters. I was hopeful for Sakahl, but it's usually just geared players on the coast killing freshies

13 upvotes on reddit
L
lordGwillen · 7 months ago

Hasn’t been my sakhal experience at all. I mostly run into mid geared people in the south and get into scrappy fights. It’s my fav map

3 upvotes on reddit
Brooker2 · 7 months ago

You're lucky. My first night on Sakahl I got killed 12 times by the same geared people on the coast. They were systematically clearing the spawn towns one by one.

1 upvotes on reddit
Gold_Camera759 · 7 months ago

Chernarus is fine. Just go to the hot spots constantly like NWAF, Zeleno, Vybor, VMC. 2 weeks is not long enough to learn the map and flow of where people go. Worry about learning the map and PVP will come naturally.

To ask “What is the best map in Tarkov?” is like asking “What is the best song?” Everyone’s answer will more than likely vary and it also depends on the situation.

For money, some people will say Lighthouse, some will say Interchange.

For PvP most will suggest Factory or Customs

I’d say that every map serves a purpose, and that map will fulfil that purpose better than any other.

For PvP? Factory for quick pvp. Customs for more versatile pvp.

What’s a good pvp map atm? Used to do shoreline. Shoreline has been dead so we switched to customs. And it was good. Geared bois left and right. Now customs the past week is either just little timmies and low geared players running shotties, hiding in bushes. I’m getting kills but coming out with shit if anything. Even went labs a couple times and never heard anyone even spawn a raider.

Reserve, really? ;! Haven't been there since SBIH. Might be worth checking out again. Is it still die off after about 10-15 min in raid? At least that was what was happening when I was going for shooter

1 upvotes on reddit
S
Silound · 4 years ago

I scav almost exclusively on Reserve, and 90% of my raids are dead at the 40 minute mark: they loot the high value items, PvP in/near the raider spawn areas, and extract immediately. Very rarely do PMCs bother to spawn raiders (I frequently spawn them myself) and even Glukhar is often up somewhere.

If there was a battle, I'll find piles of loot left on corpses around the power switch for D2 or around train station.

Yea same. Been my fav map cuz you’re almost sure to get a fight and theres not a lot of spots to get sniped from nowhere(looking at you woods) but lately I’ll run into a 5 mans all running level 4 at best armor thats been repaired more times than the restrooms at the super bowl, BT ammo ak-74s or shotguns. My duo and i will kill them and get nothing out of it. Or they will be some low level player so i ditch their gear

I would say factory. Yes It usually doesn't have very geared people but you can kill 1 pistoling and exfil. Repeat until you get a good lobby or that's how I do it.

1 upvotes on reddit
DareCoaster · 4 years ago

Customs usually has the geared players but if they’re not there interchange always has geared players. But there are a lot of places for rats to hide and there are tons of highly geared groups who will just run you over because of how many people they have.

Ok maybe I will switch back to interchange. Stopped playing it mid wipe except for quests cuz never ran into geared players either. Just hatchet runners and KS. Plus its dark as balls lol That i can at least deal with though. Hate wasting my ammo and time just to kill guys wearing pacas and sub level 10 cuz i come out with nothing cuz i just ditch their shit since its not worth bringing out and they probably need it more than i do

Labs. For the most part it's people hunting each other immediately. It cost money but that's part of it, only people who constantly run labs are chads. You will find the occasional rat but hardly.

I am not a fan of arena so I’m curious what your favorite maps for pvp are? I’ve been running customs trying to enjoy dorms but often I’m just killed by a bush wookiee before I can actually go fight someone. Where do you go to have consistent gunfights with other players who also want to fight people?

Update: I decided to give factory a go and everyone suggesting it were correct! Idk if this is just late wipe but I want to fight higher level pmcs and people that brought good gear in and thought factory just wasn’t it for that but plenty of lvl 40-50 players with tier 5 and up were there to fight as well. Thx!!

Streets, baby.

Sometimes, you might miss the early action due to the size of the map, but there's about an 80% chance that shit is gonna go wild within 3 minutes of raid start.

If you're looking for high chance of action, Reserve bunkers are a good 33% likelihood.

This late in wipe, dorms is like 20% on my servers, which sucks. Fortress is probably 30-40, but a lot of that "action" is player scavs.

Streets I don't play a lot because I haven't learned it, but I've seen action on 100% of my 5 raids on there lmao.

ProbablyMissClicked · 1 year ago

I scav primarily on reserve and dear god the amount of camping you hear from down under is insane.

2 upvotes on reddit
jackt6 · 1 year ago

I agree. Red rebel is a must, but if you don't have it, there are some spots heading down from dome you have to learn that can clear you from rats. Mostly two main leans into walls.

I think it could be considered cheating because you're abusing textures to see through walls, but it's in the game and has been for years so if they really cared they'd patch it, and D2 camping is such a serious problem I like that it's there, even though I haven't used D2 in 3 or 4 wipes.

best maps for pvp in tarkov

Key Considerations for Best Maps for PvP in Escape from Tarkov:

  1. Map Size and Layout:

    • Smaller maps like Factory are great for close-quarters combat and frequent encounters.
    • Larger maps like Interchange and Shoreline offer more open areas and varied terrain, which can lead to strategic PvP engagements.
  2. Loot Opportunities:

    • Maps with high-value loot areas, such as Reserve and Interchange, attract more players, increasing the likelihood of PvP encounters.
  3. Extraction Points:

    • Consider maps with multiple extraction points, allowing for strategic retreats or ambushes. Customs and Woods have several extraction options that can lead to intense PvP scenarios.
  4. Player Spawn Locations:

    • Maps with close spawn points can lead to immediate confrontations. Factory is known for this, making it a hot spot for PvP.
  5. Environmental Factors:

    • Weather and time of day can affect visibility and tactics. Maps like Shoreline can be particularly challenging at night.

Recommended Maps for PvP:

  • Factory: Best for fast-paced, close-quarters combat. Expect frequent encounters.
  • Customs: Offers a mix of close and mid-range engagements with valuable loot.
  • Reserve: High loot potential and multiple PvP hotspots, especially around the train station and bunkers.
  • Interchange: Great for ambushes and long-range engagements due to its layout and loot density.

Takeaway: If you're looking for intense PvP action, start with Factory for quick fights, then explore Customs and Reserve for a mix of loot and combat opportunities. Always be aware of your surroundings and use the environment to your advantage!
