TL;DR
Mini Fridges with Freezers
When looking for a mini fridge with a freezer, it is crucial to choose one with a separate freezer compartment for better performance. The Insignia 3.0 Cu. Ft. Mini Fridge with Top Freezer is noted for its affordability and decent features [1:2]. Another option is the GE Double-Door Compact Refrigerator, which offers a stylish design and larger capacity
[1:2]. However, some users have found that mini fridge freezers can be unreliable over time, often filling up with frost and becoming less effective
[4:1].
Brands and Reliability
Choosing a reliable brand is essential when purchasing a mini fridge. Brands like Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Kenmore, and GE often lease their names to other manufacturers, so it's important to check who actually supports the warranty [1:1]. Liebherr, a German company, is praised for producing high-quality small fridges
[5:2]
[5:4]. Additionally, any fridge with a Danfoss compressor is likely to last for decades
[5:5].
Specialized Uses
For those needing a mini fridge for specific uses, such as storing wax, the AstroAI Mini Fridge is a popular choice due to its portability and thermoelectric cooling system [2:1]. It's also worth noting that many mini fridges function similarly, so finding one that meets your needs might involve some trial and error
[2:3].
Power Considerations
If you're considering a mini fridge that can run on alternative power sources, such as USB, it's important to understand the power requirements. True refrigeration requires significant power, so options powered by USB or power banks may not provide adequate cooling [3:1]. For portable solutions, Dometic and Alpicool offer 12V fridges that are known for their reliability, though they tend to be more expensive
[3:2]
[3:3].
In summary, when selecting a mini fridge, consider your specific needs, whether it's a reliable freezer compartment, brand reputation, or specialized use. Reading reviews and understanding the product's power requirements will help ensure you make the best choice for your situation.
At the very least, go with a brand that specializes in mini fridges.
Brands like Whirlpool (and brands they own), Frigidaire, Kenmore, and GE generally lease their name to other companies who make the product. If you think you've found a winner, go online and grab the manual/warranty. Check the copyright and who you call for Warranty. If the company they're telling you to contact isn't the name on the front it is a Licensed Product and won't be supported by the name on the front.
Kenmore is the worst offender as they do not make anything they sell. Everything is a rebrand. Google Kenmore Prefix Chart and you'll see who actually made it.
Wow, that's a hell of a pro tip. I had no idea this could be done/allowed. That's very deceptive
Here are a few highly-rated mini fridges with freezers that you might consider:
Budget-Friendly:
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Agree with you, i’ve been using the Kalamera Mini Fridge. It doesn’t have a freezer, but it holds a ton of cans and bottles. Super quiet and energy efficient.
IMO any mini fridge freezer is not gonna be worth a damn unless it is one with a completely separate freezer door. I don't consider these mini fridges BIFL. But I have had all sorts of random brands over the years and most last pretty well.
I don't think you're going to find one bifl. Probably worth looking at the warranty length.
My dab collection has been growing and I need a decent mini fridge to refrigerate them.
I'm basically just looking to see what mini fridges people have because in a lot of the reviews I read they either be breaking down or are just dog doodoo. Just want one that's reliable and will my terp nice and crisp
My gf got me this basic AstroAI mini fridge and it works wonders:
AstroAI Mini Fridge Portable AC/DC Powered Thermoelectric System Cooler and Warmer 4 Liter/6 Can for Cars, Homes, Offices, and Dorms,Black (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0813V8HFH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_RAVFG3A6PGA0Q9314JF7
there's thousands. I doubt they've been reviewed.
How does this help?
I'm saying you can't.
fine, I bought my mini fridge at Walmart and it's been working for 2 years and has not been an issue. it's one of the dozens that they sell. I'm not even sure how to identify which one I bought.
edit I'm being realistic. I'm saying that there aren't specific mini fridges that are necessarily better for dabs. they all function very similarly.
Hi all, looking for a mini fridge/cool box!?
I need 2-3 days worth of cooling efficiency. (max)
Ideally after a mini fridge that can be powered through USB!? If possible? Bonus points if it can be charged through a power bank.
If not, recommendations on a cool box that can give me 72 hours worth of cold storage? (If possible)
Many thankyous in advance!
12V fridges tend to be surprisingly pricey. If you want the best, I'd recommend Dometic fridges. They're expensive, but they're guaranteed to keep the beers cold.
We use an Alpicool 12v and think it's very good
100w usb could do it i guess. Alpicool about 70 watts when running compressor and 2 watts idle.
See some guys running them with drill/powertools batteries for around 8 hours too
Ideally get a solar panel and battery of at least 100ah
For me a cooler box (cheapest one) has worked fine through winter and until now. I keep it enclosed away from my diesel heater. It's only an issue over 20°C but we rarely see that in the UK. I've kept all types of food up to a week works fine. Get some IKEA bags with the double seal on top for anything that's open and works well.
Just a quick note about power consumption - fridges are about heat flow in the same way that heaters are. They take a fair bit of power to run, so charging off a USB power bank is not likely to be realistic. You might find something which kind of cools stuff by a few degrees, but if you want a true fridge then you'll need a proper power source.
I'm currently in need of a mini fridge with a freezer compartment to allow me to store frozen foods and meats for example: Ice cream, meats like beef, breast, steak maybe, anything like that. My household is pretty large and when my mom and aunt go grocery shopping, the entire fridge and freezer is filled to the brim. I like to meal prep and store things and my own foods. So I tend to just door dash until there is free space to allow me to store my groceries. I just want my own space. THE BIGGEST ISSUE is that my food WILL get eaten whether I like it or not and no one will own up too it or pay me back. It's extremely frustrating, because I love cooking. I need someone high quality, long lasting, stainless steel, and cold enough to allow me to store meats!
Edit: Size requirements, not a full sized fridge, something on the compact size. I've seen one that was 3.2 cu ft in person but didn't have a freezer. So minimum size I'd like something 3.2 cu ft or larger, possibly 4.
I have never found a mini fridge with a freezer that was usable for more than just ice. The temperature is so unstable in the freezer portion that any foods get freezer burn very quickly or things like ice cream simply do not stay frozen at all.
Yeah, doesn't exist. Just get a real fridge. Readily available on CL or FB marketplace.
It does. Look for the mini fridge with separate freezer compartment. Insignia makes one. We had one and the freezer actually works.
This. And look for the narrower fridges. I just bought a new 30” French door on FB marketplace with a minor dent in it. I was surprised to see so many fridges that were even more narrow.
maybe I should invest in a separate mini fridge and mini freezer?
Definitely more likely to fulfill your needs if freezing is important.
And Im thinking of doing this as well, but don’t know if I should put them side by side and how it might look if they are not the same size … anyone else do this in their apartment? I have a mini fridge next to a snack bar, but I need a freezer as well
There are 2-door, small refrigerator/freezer combination units that are bigger than a mini-fridge but much smaller than a full-sized refrigerator. Looks like they are around 6-7 cu ft and $350 US.
I have never used one of those, so I can’t recommend a particular product. But if that wise works for you, read all the reviews you can. And maybe come back here with a particular product choice and see if anyone has used it.
My college dorm mini fridge had a “freezer” that would become a solid block of ice over the course of a semester. It would keep my pizza rolls cold enough to keep them food-safe, but it might also envelop them completely with ice. Made me earn those pizza rolls when I wanted to eat them…
We had one for a summer. I think they also come closer to 4 cu ft. The freezer compartment actually works - it is the only mini fridge I've had where that is true.
Not sure about their longevity, but maybe something marketed for vanlife? Some have features to change compartment size.. Adjustable to freezer temps. They have adapters to run on house current.
I would consider one myself, along with batteries, for the next power outage.
Not in the US so can't help on brand. But I've had a store 'essentials' one for over a decade in my own room and it's amazing! And clean! And full of MY food. And has never given me issues.
Honestly, if you can't get a separate mini fridge and small chest freezer or can't get a small full-sized fridge, it's probably best to just never plan to have more than ~5 days of food in there at once, with the understanding that it's defrosted the whole time. No matter which minifridge you get, those tiny freezer compartments quickly fill up with frost and become useless. You'll likely want and use a chest freezer at your new place anyways because they rock.
Source: My husband and I lived with only a mini fridge with tiny freezer compartment for 5 straight years and lived like this. Managed to find a space for a chest freezer and it changed the whole game for us.
I would buy a Miele or Bosh but they don't seem to exist in small form factors. I'm looking for something around 66L capacity (seems to be a standard size, flexible on this), and am struggling to find anything which seems to be quality. Any recommendations? (UK) Russel Hobbs seem ideal, but I've seen a lot of poor reviews. Hoping for something quiet and efficient.
Our house has a small Liebherr (German company) which I think is pretty great. Currently out of town, so not sure what the exact model is. I believe it is a Comfort TP1720.
I also read somewhere that Liebherr is (one of) the best!
Thanks
Both Miele and Bosch make small fridges. They can be built in or freestanding. For example, the Miele K12010S-2 or the Bosch KTR18P20GB/03.
Bigger than I'm looking for, but thanks anyway
If you're looking at really tiny fridges, probably just buy something cheap cause they're so inexpensive anyway... They probably last ~2-5 years regardless of the brand. Or the one with the longest warranty.
Anything with a Danfoss compressor inside will last forever decades.
They are pretty good, not the best in the business but very decent
Engel
Thanks
Hi mam/sir planning to buy po ako ng mini fridge ano po ma rerecommend nyo na mini fridge na nandito sa pictures or any brand na wala dito base sa experience nyo
Yung mababa po sana kuryente at goods na magpalamig at matibay Thanks po in advance
Fujidenzo no contest. Yan gamit ng mga stores.
thank youu! malaiit kaya to sa kuryente?
Hello! Gamit ko po si yung 3.5 cu two door personal fridge ng fujidenzo and around 1k lang yung bill namin kasama na po lahat ng appliances, two pcs, ilaw, phones, fan, heater and wifi. So i guess maliit lang consume nya
Fujidenzo subok na
fujidenzo / carrier or condura only imho
haier ba pangit?
Haier din sa electric bill
/s
I use Haier, have had it for over a year now, only issue is it cools too well. I never adjusted the thermostat since I got it. When I was picking between refs, I read people saying theirs didn’t cool enough. Yung Haier ko mas malakas pa sa ref namin mag cool. I got the 3.3cu Haier for 7800. You should wait for 6.6 and compare the prices. I read people getting it for even less minsan sa reviews.
I have the fujidenzo one and I can definitely recommend it. Spacious, malakas magpalamig at matibay. Nabaha yung akin kasi di ko naitaas, hinugasan lang okay na.
Min-Medium cool nakadagdag yata sya 300 per month pataas.
fujidenzo - i have the same ref for 3 years wala akong naging problem
hm po pala monthly billing nyo?
Looking for a mini fridge, size doesn’t matter all that much as long as it can store some basic drinks and snacks. Preferably with a transparent front panel.
Not looking gor something that will last me my entire lifetime, just wamt something that won’t totally break within a year or two.
Thanks!
I recommend searching for a second-hand mini fridge.
I'm sitting 2 feet away from a decent size Kenmore that I purchased for $30 at an estate sale. It was manufactured probably 10 years ago and works perfectly. It won't last forever, but I expect another 5+ years out of it.
Sorry off topic to start.
This just made me realize some of the futility of this sub. If you have something that has lasted 25 years the chances are very high that the model is discontinued or the quality has been reduced since you bought it.
That said, as I write this I am in my office looking at my GE bar fridge. Didn't even really think about it, but I bought it in about '99. Only drawback is it's not self-defrosting, so every other year or so I have to defrost it. (I don't use the freezer compartment anyway) But simplicity helps with reliability.
Gay as fuck. I bet woman hate ur ass
Redbull? 🤣
If there isn't a most popular any suggestions would be nice
there is no popular one but most people go with the 3ft tall models, mostly with the small separate freezer part. a lot of rooms don’t even have fridges and no one will care what brand yours is
consider getting one used off facebook market place or something too, you don’t need a brand new one
This one is the most popular by far: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dr-Pepper-Portable-6-can-Mini-Fridge-MIS135DRP-Burgundy/457972528
But other people have 1.6/1.7 ft^3 fridges.
i have one of those, definitely in every room that i’ve been to
The one I bought from the class page for 20 bucks.
All I am looking to buy a mini fridge I don’t want to buy anything made in China I have did a couple hours of research and came up dry... many of the US brands simply private label Chinese brands. Anyone in the community know of any US manufactured mini fridges ? Thanks
Dometic makes some models in the USA. You will have to do a bit of digging to find out which specific models.
Thanks for the input, will check them out too
I'm sure it's a great product but spending 10x as much for something that just sits there passively and keeps your food cold seems excessive. It doesn't make your food 'more cold'. I fully support USA manufacturing but at some point you have to ask yourself why am I spending this much.
Agreed. I am willing to pay a premium for US made product but not 10x.
Holy shit $3,000 designer mini fridge LMAO so over priced.
Awesome, will check them out !
True is Made in USA! https://true-residential.com/
Awesome. Will check them out
Norcold is another RV fridge manufacturer that seems to be made in USA.
Thanks, will also check them out
best mini fridges
Key Considerations for Choosing a Mini Fridge:
Size and Capacity: Mini fridges come in various sizes. Consider your space and how much storage you need. Common capacities range from 1.7 to 4.5 cubic feet.
Energy Efficiency: Look for models with an Energy Star rating to save on electricity costs. Efficient models can significantly reduce energy consumption.
Cooling Performance: Ensure the fridge maintains a consistent temperature. Check reviews for performance in keeping items cool, especially in warmer environments.
Design and Features: Consider features like adjustable shelves, door storage, and a separate freezer compartment. A reversible door can also be helpful for fitting into tight spaces.
Noise Level: Some mini fridges can be noisy. Look for models that are specifically noted for quiet operation, especially if you plan to use it in a bedroom or office.
Recommendations:
Midea WHS-121LSS1: This model is highly rated for its compact size (3.2 cubic feet), energy efficiency, and quiet operation. It features adjustable shelves and a reversible door.
Danby DCR044A2BDD: With a capacity of 4.4 cubic feet, this fridge offers a good balance of space and features, including a separate freezer compartment and adjustable shelves.
BLACK+DECKER BCRK25B: A budget-friendly option with a 2.5 cubic feet capacity, it’s compact and ideal for dorms or small spaces. It has a reversible door and is energy efficient.
