TL;DR
Monitor Specifications
When selecting a monitor for playing League of Legends, it's important to focus on specifications that enhance gameplay. A high refresh rate, such as 240Hz or even 360Hz, is recommended for a smooth experience. An IPS panel is often preferred for its color accuracy and viewing angles [2:1]. While OLED monitors are popular for their vibrant colors, they may not significantly impact gameplay in League of Legends compared to other genres
[1:2].
Size and Resolution
The size of the monitor also plays a crucial role. Most professional players use monitors that are between 24 and 27 inches, which provide a good balance between screen real estate and focus [2:2]. For 1080p gaming, a 24-inch monitor offers optimal pixel density, while a 27-inch monitor is suitable for 1440p resolution
[3:4].
Popular Brands and Models
Several brands and models are frequently mentioned in discussions about the best monitors for esports. The BenQ/Zowie XL2546 is highly regarded among professionals for its 240Hz refresh rate and DyAc technology, which reduces motion blur [4:1]
[4:2]. LG's Ultragear series is another favorite, offering excellent performance and reliability
[1:1],
[4:4]. Alienware monitors are also noted for their quality, though they can be more expensive
[1:1].
OLED Monitors
While OLED monitors are gaining popularity for their superior color reproduction and contrast, they might not be necessary for League of Legends unless you also plan to watch movies or engage in other activities where OLED's strengths shine [5:8]. If considering an OLED, ensure it supports high refresh rates suitable for competitive gaming
[5:1].
Final Recommendations
For the best experience in League of Legends, prioritize a monitor with a high refresh rate, good response time, and appropriate size for your setup. Brands like BenQ/Zowie, LG, and Alienware offer reliable options that cater to these needs. Additionally, consider your budget and whether features like HDR or OLED are worth the investment for your specific use case.
Im currently searching for a new monitor despite i have an Acer Predator XB253QGX 240hz, IPS Panel and FHD 1ms.
Im thinking of a new alienware or lg ultragear with OLED but whats ur opinions?
You already have one of the best monitors in gaming.....
If you want OLED get an OLED, but it's definitely not going to affect your gameplay even a little bit lol... Especially for league.
If you can afford it go for it but I'd strongly recommend against it unless you really like watching shows/movies on a second monitor, OLED is great for that
Probably a bait post or OP is very ignorant. He should focus on his own gameplay not the monitor lol.
Alienware has been releasing some baller monitors lately but for the most part they are pretty damn overpriced and you are paying for the name. LG untragear is a good choice imo if you are set on it
Typical bronze behavior
Funny because there are plenty of high elo players using 10 year old laptops and are still playing well

What Monitors does Pro's use in competitive Scene?
E Sports players use whatever they're sponsored for cause it doesn't make you better lol study the game instead
This is not true. All pros are playing on HyperX armada monitors at the current event even though many of the teams playing are sponsored by competing brands.
That’s because HyperX is a sponsor in this year’s MSI. Pros will use a different monitor in different events. Even their personal gaming setup will have a different monitor.
This just implies that monitors has a minimal effect vs. actually improving your skills.
You should be good with a monitor with at least 144hz, VA or IPS panels are ok. 24 and 27 inch seems to be the sweet spot for pros.
Isn't HP(they own HyperX) one of the sponsors of MSI 2024?
They are the sponsor..
If you truly just want the most competitive experience possible with no regards for anything else an IPS at 240 or 360 and nothing larger than 25 inches.
Recently my MSI 24inch curved gaming monitor got retired after 5years so i have been thinking about buying a new gaming monitor.
I have gtx 1660super and probably gonna game on 1080p. So i was wondering which company is best to to for. Currently looking for Lenovo legion or Samsung odyssey or MSI. 27 or 32inch.
Not much into MSI as i have used it and the screen got black in the middle of Gaming.
Suggest which should i go for or if there is any other company i should look out for
27 inch curved isn't worth it. Larger curved monitor are better. Go for legion. It also has better specs.
Thats what i have been thinking. There isnt much price gap and after using a 24inch i thought 27 wont affect much. 32 is better.
Is there any other company other than legion or should i just go for it?
You can also go for LG
This one has better and more number of ratings. Also lg makes it's own panels so more reliable. It also supports hdr 10 so better for content watching.
Been using the curved monitor for nearly 6 months and loved it to the core.
If you will be playing on 1080p, then bigger the screen size, worse will be the clarity. Ideally for getting best ppi, 24 inch is for 1080p, 27 inch is for 1440p, 32 inch is for 4k. That's what redittors and many youtubers say, I have not tried it for myself as I am in the same dillema of whether I should get a 27inch or 32inch for 1440p gaming. Just a heads up.
Yea but i think 2k is good for content watching as well
Ok your wish
There one msi 27 inch 2k 180hz available for 17.5k
I use samsung oddesy g3 . Its nice
Thanks for the help
I’m looking at upgrading my monitor, and was wondering if anybody knows what monitors the pros run? Other suggestions are welcome, what do you run? :) ty!
how much money u willing to spend? i'm using the Benq/Zowie Xl2546 and its the most used in competitive pro play, extremely good monitor
Money isn’t a problem, I’ll check it out, thanks!
Like 90% of pros I see use that BenQ 240hz. If you got the money and want the most competitive option possible that’s your bet
There’s a newer 2546S model with upgraded Dyac at same price as usual 2546
Zowie/BenQ are the only options
asus, alienware, acer etc make great monitors.
just ordered the lg 27gl83a after lots of debating. i’d recommend/r/Monitors and hardwareunboxed’s vidéos for good, in depth reviews and recommendations
I have it and it's fucking awesome. No regrettssssss
solid, mine will be here thursday. any issues with back light bleed ?
Recently there was a deal on this monitor - https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/alienware-25-gaming-monitor-aw2521hfl/apd/210-awdy/monitors-monitor-accessories?gacd=9683780-3004-5761040-0-0&dgc=st&gclid=CjwKCAjwi_b3BRAGEiwAemPNU-FLBUeppqlUsyo-MyGE62J-sBSgpBfj4Qg6GO_7phRFYaDG4Pgn7RoCGSAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hey y'all!
I'm looking to upgrade my monitor setup, and it seems to me that all the hype is around the new OLED monitors.
What OLED monitor would y'all recommend to someone who works from home and spends a good amount of time on virtual meetings, Salesforce, and other software tools - but also plays competitive shooters like CS2 and Valorant at a high level. (not really a casual / single player gamer).
I've seen a lot of positive reviews around the new 32in 4k monitors in terms of text readability, but honestly, I don't really want to play FPS games on a 32in monitor, because I'd imagine the screen would just feel too large. Does anyone agree?
The 27inch monitors with their 360hz refresh rate and 1440p, are super attractive, BUT I've seen some really negative reviews around text readability - is the fringing actually that noticeable? (Major consideration for me because I'd be using it for work full time, beyond just gaming)
Thank you!
There’s 32” OLEDs now that can play at 24” & 27”
But when you scale the game down to 24in or 27in, does the game still look 'good'? I'm assuming you'll have black bars as you reduce the size, and not sure how the compression of pixels would work.
Yes it still looks good. I use it in my 32”. It uses a custom pixel ratio in windows and in game.
Probably the lg dual mode one.
Same thing I mentioned below - how do games look on that monitor when you scale down to 24in or 27in? does the compression of pixels still look have decent? I might be being too pessimistic lol
27 is bad. 24 at 1080 gives you a 4:1 pixel ratio at 4k 32, so it’s really good. Just move the monitor back a bit and you’ll be fine
I don't have it but I've heard reports it doesn't look great. Ive also heard keeping it at 32in when in 1080p mode looks the best for 480hz.
why do you want an oled for productivity and counter strike if you don’t even play single player games? just get an ips
no OLEDs are good for productivity as you want to spend all your time gaming and watching 4k HDR movies on them
For competetive, prob wait for the 1440p 480hz.
For productivity, a 32 inc for text clarity tho you shouldnt use your oled for such use cases TBQH.
You could go for the LG as it has a 480hz mode but only for 1080p along with the usual 240hz 4k mode.
Me I have a 1440p monitor, but I have to say at times I feel like a smaller 1080p screen may be better for league. I can just use windowed mode I suppose, but I was just wondering what you guys use, and what the pro's use if anyone knows.

:)
34” ultrawide 165hz is what i play on, used to play on 1440p but i like the extra vision i get with my ultrawide
Ultra wide is where it's at.
Pretty standard for pro play to use 24” 1080p 240hz monitors in both FPSes and in League. The monitors the LCS uses are Alienware 24.5” 1080p 240hz.
More and more people are starting to join in on the 27” 1440p life, notably retired FPS players like Shroud and Hiko. But active pro players will still use 24” 1080p because tournaments use that, and tournaments use that because players use that, and it’s not really clear when/if people will start pushing for larger panels.
But yes, playing with a smaller screen is generally nicer. For a while I played 1080p bordlerless on my 27” 1440p, but now I’ve decided to just get used to 1440p full screen for way lower input lag.
Great answer thanks, I'm going to try one game at 1080 and see how it goes.
'27 1440p, BUT trust me, play windowed @ 1080p. Miles better.
What does that change exactly?
is your pc just too weak for 1440p or is there something else?
On the contrary, having a smaller windowed client makes it easier to stay on top of everything that's happening in game without moving your head too much. This of course varies from player to player.
Ya, agree, I just played in a bit higher than 1080p window and it was way easier to control the camera, and move around.
55 inch 4k tv. All I got room for unfortunately.
Here I am thinking my monitor is on the big side.
It works great though, nice and clear. Only 60hz but does fine lol.
Whoa, no way a rectangle monitor!
I’ve got an extra $150 to spend on a monitor, and honestly would prefer to keep it below that. Just got a series s, I mostly play COD and Marvel Rivals. I prioritize performance over anything. I’ve been looking at ASUS monitors but I’ve also been seeing that some of them don’t support the 120fps. I want that to be an option even if most games won’t run it.
I’m not sure what how to know what monitor will work best, but would like to know all of your thought on what the best monitor would be? I’ll probably just run with whatever suggestion I get here. Thanks.
Just a little over your budget but I recently got this monitor with my Series S and no complaints
I have the viewsonic 23 inch 1440p 165hz and love it viewsonic 32 inch monitor
In that price range I would go for an 1440p/144hz monitor in 27” or 32”. Best bang for the buck. For example Samsung Odyssey G5 or an ASUS is of course also good.
I’ve got an asus from 2017 that’s 24” - is the 27”/32” that much better?
No just bigger, if yours has 120hz.
If you’re gonna go out of your way and spend money on a monitor you def are gonna wanna make sure it’s atleast 120hz lil bro
Yeah no shit “lil bro” that’s why I made the post
be like me and use an xp pen artist 12 pro you got for christmas 5 years ago (joking, but that is what i use as my monitor)
I currently use an asus from like 2017 lmao
Money isn’t really an obstacle and just wondering what the best gaming monitor out there is? I'm leaning towards OLED for those sick, vivid colors and deep blacks. Been debating whether to go curved, ultrawide, or just stick with a flat display?
I'm also trying to figure out whether 4K or 1440P is the way to go? And what the ideal screen size should be? What setup you guys are rocking and which monitor you swear by. Help me get the best bang for my buck
well 4K will look best, but it's the hardest to run. 1440p is good for high refresh rate 100-200+ fps.
Curved/ultrawide/flat is all opinionated really.
I personally despise black bars.
You can use DLSS/FSR to AI upscale to 4K, whether it looks good or not depends.
For best bang for buck, 1440p 144-240hz is the way to go.
95% of games either support ultrawide now or have easy-to-find mods to enable it. With OLED, black bars are just, "off", so it's not nearly as big a deal as it used to be with other display technologies where you'd get a glow fron the side bars. I watch a lot of 16:9 content on my 21:9 OLED monitor, and it's not an issue at all.
I just bought the titan army g27t8t (I think). It’s 1440p 360hz oled.
Just swapped to a Samsung 57" Odyssey Neo G9 Series Dual 4K UHD 1000R Curved 240 hz 1ms From a Samsung 49” Odyssey OLED 1440p 240hz 1ms
Both are excellent, and I only upgraded to run 4k
What GPU/CPU combo are you rocking to run those screens?
They are running them at 30-60 fps in single player games. Amazing displays if you don’t care about any competitive games where you need fps. 24-32 inch is still the sweet spot for FPS games. Personally I wouldn’t go lower than 27.
7800x3d and a Rog Strix OC 4090, actually waiting on a 9800x3d to arrive via new egg. I’m on the certified customer list for a 5090 but I haven’t been selected yet.
4k curved 32 inch QW-OLED and at least 240Hz. Type those in on the web and see what you like. Might spend like 1-2k on a monitor but money is no obstacle
This is the only answer imo. If money is no obstacle it’s safe to assume a 5090 is powering or will be powering it. The new 4K 240 monitors are the only future-proof option when money is no object
4K OLED is the way!
Marked down to $1799.00 on Amazon right now which is when I bought it. Was $2299.00
Ignoring budget, what monitor (specifically 32") would you guys say is the best? All the bells and whistles: 4k, high refresh rate, super accurate colors, oled, etc. I'm a video editor and gamer and am looking for something that I won't need to upgrade for a few years?
The current best monitor would be the Asus Pg27ucdm with a 50 series graphics card for displayport 2.1 80gbps bandwidth 4k 240hz no display stream compression.
Lots of options for 4k OLED PG32UCDM and MSI 322URX are probably the best options right now.
Consumer grade, and OLED? Probably any of the 32 4K OLED models, all which use the same panel. The PG32UCDM has the best features.
PG32UCDM hands down
This until we get 4k at 500 hz, or something that can do >240 hz at 4k and 2k at 500 hz (would be better than LG 32GS95UE-B)?
What's the difference between the QDOLED and the WOLED? Thank you for the suggestion.
OLED -> Organic Light Emitting Diode
WOLED -> White OLED
QD-OLED -> Quantom Dot OLED
QD-OLED has better color accuracy, WOLED has better black levels iirc. QD-OLED also can cause more eye strain for some users, due to using exclusively blue light with quantom dots to filter the colors.

This is a good video explaining that.
https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/qd-oled-vs-woled
or this artcile.
It sometimes comes with gamma 2.1 instead of 2.2.
For very high end I would recommend the 2025 Q1 release 32” MSI MPG 322URX ( i own this one and recommend it) or 27” MSI MPG 272URX. These are QD-Oled 4k resolution at 240 hZ refresh rate like some other monitors but what distinguishes them is that they have the display port 2.1 version connector with 80 gbps bandwidth to coordinate with 50 series Nvidia graphics cards with displayport 2.1 connector also. Silkland makes a displayport 2.1 cable 2 meter long that is DP80/UHBR20 certified but there aren’t many cables out yet to take advantage of displayport 2.1. For those cable certifications the longest possible length right now is 2 meters. The 321urx someone mentioned has displayport 1.4 version so if you want to save money that is still really good but you sacrifice bandwidth and have to use display stream compression. Other alternatives with displayport 2.1 connector are Aorus FO32U2P, Asus ROG PG27UCDM, samsung g81sf (not out yet).
Best 32"? PG32UCDM.
Best 27"? PG27UCDM.
Why not the fo32u2p with dp2.1 and no alt+tab blackscreen?
Hello, I'm trying to buy a 1440p Monitor and the options i have in my country are limited.
I have done a ton of research but the ideas are extremely conflicted and i don't have much experience with 1440p monitors at all.
This's a list of the ones available for me right now.
Msi Optix G27CQ4 - 27"
LG UltraGear 32GN650-B 32"inch
BenQ EX3203R 31.5 QHD 2560 x 1440 (2K)
AOC AGON AG271QG 27" (a bit more expensive than the rest)
I would be eternally grateful if you can help me decide.
I have had the LG for around 2 years now. It’s great. My only complaint is the red plastic on the stand, which you can just put black tape on. When I looked at all available monitors for 1440P gaming the LG was the best value, and still is from my knowledge. 32 inches is also quite large. I would consider down sizing next time, but I still give it 10/10.
Thank you, I'm also strongly considering it but the 32 is throwing me off a bit. everyone is talking about the bad image quality in fast based games and too much ghosting an all that. Have you tried it in any competitive title?
I play a lot of Rocket League (RIP☠️), and I have zero issues. I would be curious seeing side by side with other monitors. I came fro 1080P, but I have no reason to want a different monitor.
I play Apex, Warzone, and other games more casually with no complaints.
best monitor for league of legends
Key Considerations for Choosing a Monitor for League of Legends:
Refresh Rate: Look for a monitor with at least a 144Hz refresh rate. This allows for smoother gameplay and reduces motion blur, which is crucial in fast-paced games like League of Legends.
Response Time: A low response time (1ms to 3ms) is important to minimize ghosting and ensure quick reactions during gameplay.
Resolution: A Full HD (1920x1080) resolution is typically sufficient for League of Legends. However, if you want sharper visuals, consider a QHD (2560x1440) monitor.
Panel Type:
Adaptive Sync Technology: Look for monitors with G-Sync (NVIDIA) or FreeSync (AMD) support to reduce screen tearing and provide a smoother gaming experience.
Recommendations:
Choosing a monitor with these specifications will enhance your gaming experience in League of Legends, allowing for better performance and enjoyment.
