TL;DR
League of Legends is not graphically demanding, so you can play it on a budget-friendly PC. A system with a GTX 1060 and Ryzen 3600 or similar will run the game smoothly [1:2]. For streaming, consider a build around $700 with components like an Intel CPU and NVIDIA GPU
[5:1].
Minimum Requirements
League of Legends is known for its low system requirements, meaning it can run on most PCs without issue. Many users report playing League on older or less powerful systems, such as a Microsoft Surface or even a basic Optiplex desktop [1:1]
[4:10]. If your PC can handle Windows 10, it's likely capable of running League
[4:1].
Recommended Builds
For those looking to build or buy a PC specifically for League, a GTX 1060 graphics card paired with a Ryzen 3600 processor is suggested as a cost-effective option that provides excellent performance [1:2]. Another user provided a detailed build for around $700 that includes components suitable for gaming and streaming, such as an Intel CPU and NVIDIA GPU
[5:1].
Considerations for Streaming
If you're planning to stream League of Legends, you'll need a bit more power than just playing the game. Streaming requires additional resources, especially if you're using multiple monitors [5]. The $700 build mentioned earlier is designed to support streaming with a dual monitor setup
[5:1].
Monitor and FPS Considerations
While League itself doesn't require high-end hardware, the choice of monitor can affect your PC requirements. Running League at higher refresh rates (144Hz or 240Hz) necessitates a more powerful PC compared to a standard 60Hz setup [2:3]. Professional players often use powerful PCs to achieve ultra-high FPS for smoother gameplay, but this level of performance is not necessary for casual play
[4:7].
Potential Issues with AMD CPUs
One user noted occasional freezing issues with AMD CPUs when playing League, which could be a consideration if you're sensitive to minor disruptions during gameplay [2:1]. While not a widespread problem, it's worth considering if you're deciding between AMD and Intel processors.
I’m looking to get a gaming PC basically just to play league of legends. I don’t really want to spend $1000+ on it since I don’t do a ton of gaming but I’d like to play things like League, Hearthstone and Age of Empires on something that’s not a Mac …. So really I might just looking for a “hand me down” PC from someone who maybe wants to upgrade…. Any suggestions on good but affordable builds or maybe pre-built ones? Anyone looking to sell their current PC and upgrade?
it's fucking league, get a gtx 1060 and an ryzen 3600
you could put a PC together that will play those games like an absolute DREAM for less than 500 bucks
You could buy a 200$ PC and play league. I played on a MS surface before. Takes no compute power to play that simple game.
I'm new-ish to the game, and I see these pros out here with insane PC even though league doesn't seem super graphics intensive. I was wondering if they know something. or that's just preference?
League can run on a 1970s tube TV powered by a potato battery made by a 5th grader in science class. League is extremely low maintenance when it comes to using resources, you can run it on pretty much anything from $200 off brand laptops to $3000 PC builds. Most pros have PCs like that as streaming requires more resources, not cause league itself does.
You dont need a computer like a pro to play league, their computers are overkill for performance in league.
League will drop fps (assuming you are setting 60 fps and lowest settings) during big teamfights on older low end laptops and that for sure will affect your game play.
IIRC their pro games get recorded on their screen too, so they need some extra capacity for that. Those are Riot's PC's though.
I figured he meant pros as in people streaming CQ, not the PCs Riot has for pros on stage.
oh true! thanks for reaching out!
Hey no need to call me out like that
everything depends on what monitor you want to run league. if you only have 60hz every potato will do, 144 you need a few more potatoes and if you go overbroad with 240hz you actually need a good pc to archive these 240.
Riot have sponsorships for PC manufacturers. Most pro teams have sponsorships with PC manufacturers also.
It runs on a 10 year old computer just fine, in fact I would argue the game itself runs better than the lobby client does lmao.
A potato powered by a hamster should do the trick
One thing that no one has mentioned is that league seems to have an issue with AMD CPUs which causes occasional freezes that last 1-2 seconds. It doesn't happen every game, maybe once or twice a play session for me, but it is still annoying. So if that matters to you, don't get an AMD CPU.
Hi everyone, thank you in advance for your help. I am a complete newcomer to the idea of building a PC and a little intimidated but excited.
Thanks again!
If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:
New build or upgrade?
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
WiFi or wired connection?
Size/noise constraints?
Color/lighting preferences?
Any other specific needs?
Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:
Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.
Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.
We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.

I don’t really understand computers very well, and people keep telling me that I could literally run League on a potato, yet that doesn’t make sense considering the game is 3D. Can anyone help?
It’s 3D but there are other 3D games that are also not graphically intensive. It’s also not very cpu intensive bc the cpu is only calculating a few stats and locations as opposed to Minecraft where the cpu is calculating the entire visible world. In short it will run on most things without much issue.
Why is it like that, if it’s esports title then? I see all of the professional esports players using super powerful computers, wouldn’t that be wasteful for such an easy-to-run game?
(Legitimately trying to learn here)
I don’t keep up with their rigs, but they might have powerful computers for a number of different reasons.
First they probably use their computers to play other games. They are gamers after all and probably don’t just play one thing, and when they play other games they want to enjoy high quality graphics.
Second as was mentioned elsewhere, the better your graphics card, the more frames it can render per second which means the smoother the gameplay will be. This might not provide a ton of assistance other than making sure it doesn’t lag and is smooth. But for something like counter strike go where milliseconds matter and can be the difference between life and death, the more frames you can render per second the better.
There’s also a question of reliability and making sure you don’t lag if frames drop too low and whatnot.
But probably mainly the first one, they are gamers and why have one computer for one game and another computer for all of the rest?
Most pc's can. If it can handle windows 10, it can definetly handle LOL
That doesn’t make sense though. I see professional esports players playing it, and they all have super power ful computers, wouldn’t that be a bit wasteful if the game is easy to run?
Its easy to run, they just like to play in 240+ fps gor better and smoother gameplay. You can basicly play lil on Athlon 3000G with no issues
They "need" it for ultra high fps so that their 140ms reaction times can ger enough information so they can perform the best, but most people don't really need more than 30fps for it to be playable. Of course, the more fps, ghe better experience, but it's still playable at 30.
Also these esports players probably have to record their screens to stream or something like that, and that takes a lot of cpu and gpu power.
Your phone van probably run it so any pc with a gpu thats not too old
Make sure you have a toaster and you’ll probably be able to run it 60+ fps
U can run it on an optiplex
Can anyone help me find a cheap option for streaming league of legends? I play on a Mac but want to get a pc I can use multiple monitors on and stream to twitch. I grew up without a computer so I really don’t know anything about specs and all that.
Sent you a nice build bro 🤙
can you pls post it here?
This is what he sent!
This is a great gaming PC for a $700 budget. You’ll be able to enjoy your game even with a dual monitor setup.

I’ve been using a Mid 2010’s Mac for league, unfortunately it has recently stopped working. I need an affordable replacement and any recommendations are welcomed.
(The primary use will be for League of Legends as I mainly use a PlayStation 5 for any other games.)
You could get a pretty mediocre pc and still run it well. Had a buddy who used to play on a super shitty laptop and struggled with team fights but that was it.
In other words, if you play nothing else, get a cheaper pc. If you want to play a lot of the namebrand titles, you might look into a bigger and better option.
even a toaster can play league now days.
Some questions in order to be able to recommend what's best for you:
Thank you for your time
At such a low budget, your options are very limited. I would suggest picking out parts yourself and paying an extra fee to wherever you purchase them from so that they assemble your PC themselves; will still be cheaper than buying a premade one
I'm thinking something like this:
A low-end 10th/11th gen i3 CPU
A corresponding motherboard
No graphics card (can't on this budget but you can easily get 30 FPS with the CPU's integrated graphics anyway)
8 GB of RAM
A hard drive or solid state drive (if you are only using the PC for LoL & writing essays then even 128 GB will be enough, but more will be needed if you decide you want to store big files)
A case & a PSU that are not terrible
This should easily be under $400
If this is the situation, then I’d suggest finding a used computer.
Buy an slightly older enterprise prebuilt like an optiplex, and throw a budget gpu in there
Do this OP, if you can find a large office offloading five year old optiplexes / thinkcentre or whatever the HP version is - you may be able to get a 7-8th Gen Intel Core i5, ddr4 ram, and ability to add an m.2 ssd or plain sata ssd.
Toss in a low profile 1050ti, rx550, or 1650 (just make sure it only runs off of PCIe power), and you've got yourself a league machine for less than $100.
I was able to snag an optiplex 5060 SFF for pretty much nothing, and it even had an i7 8700 and 16 GB of ddr4 ram. I got a 256gb m.2 and a used rx 550, and gifted it to my younger sister - plays pretty much any esports title easily, and even some mutilplatform games at low settings at 1080p.
Most places tend to replace hardware in five year cycles, so keep an eye on local listings or even seeing if there are eCycle places that sell refurbished units.
r/buildapcforme If you just want someone to give you a part list, r/buildapc for other questions
They'll give you way better hardware advice than this sub.
Pretty much only need it for LoL...I don't mind spending a bit extra for a good deal. What would you guys get?
League will run on a toaster, if you want a good all around machine though, get something from either Lenovo or Asus, whatever is in your price range.
However, if you don't need the portability, get a desktop instead.
Look into Lenovo Legion or LOQ, maybe Asus TUF if you're on a budget or strix if you're not(this is really overkill for league though)
And 1 square metre of grass, it'll come a long way.
Thank. A square meter of grass? I don’t understand
He’s telling you for your own health to occasionally go outside, and touch grass. Don’t entomb yourself in your room in other words.
Lenovo legions have pretty solid build quality.
I second this. Not a full metal chassis but excellent build quality.
Pretty sure the legion 7 and 9 have full metal. Just not 5 series.
I have an 8 years old 7700hq + 1060 laptop and it runs ar maxed there. Only for leauge even a potato laptop will be enough..
Check out https://gaminglaptop.deals/ it monitors current laptop deals - I'm sure there's other sites like it but this is the one I used when looking for my laptop.
Like others said League will run on pretty much anything. You could literally get the $400 laptop they have listed. I wouldn't, but you could. There's also some LOQs that others mentioned. They're solid entry level Lenovos. If you want something a little nicer, the 2024 Legion 5/7 and Asus Zephyrus G14/16 were all rated pretty good.
I'd go check out the laptops in person at the closest best buy, or whichever store you can get to. That was the most helpful for me. I really liked some of the 14 inch versions way more in person, and you can get. feel for the keyboard and speakers before committing to anything.
Hello team, hope nobody’s gonna hate but I wanna buy a laptop and I don’t have a lot of money. I just play LoL online, nothing else
Currently I play it with the worst graphics and I took off all animations and it still lags sometimes. I got to Plat so my reward is buying a new pc lmfao. What do you think of this one ?
GEEKOM A6 Mini PC avec AMD Ryzen 7 6800H, Radeon 680M, 32Go DDR5 1To SSD, USB4 x2, 4K Quad Display, Windows 11 Pro, WiFi 6E, Mini Ordinateur Compact, Idéal Jeux/Bureau,Métallique Boîtier en Aluminium
Looks like it'll be fine. LoL is mainly CPU intensive, but the extra animations and stuff will be handled by the GPU. Here's a link to LoL's specs:
Ohhhh that’s nice ! Thank you !!!
Yeah that looks fine with the GPU being a 680M, I have a Mini PC with a Ryzen 7 8745H and 780M graphics and it can do most AAA at 1080p30fps Medium with FSR set to Quality
So a 680M should be able to handle LoL fine.
Thank you so much mate !! Have a nice day :)
Hello, I'm trying to buy a new PC that I'd mostly use for homeoffice and some gaming. I play League most of the time. My budget would be around 500 Euros. Is a NVIDIA 1050/or 1060 good enough to get constant 144 fps on low to medium settings? What else are good budget versions on the market right now? Also, what SSD/HDD is needed? 100 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD? Thanks in advance!
A literal potato can play league
Can confirm. Running on a 9 year old PC and it runs flawless
A toaster can run LoL. In all seriousness a 1060 will be plenty to play that game and many others. It will easily handle all e-sports titles at 144FPS. I'd highly recommend getting a 500Gb SSD, preferably a M.2 if you're able too.
Which PC is the best for playing League of Legends
Key Considerations for a League of Legends PC:
Processor (CPU): Aim for at least an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5. These provide sufficient power for smooth gameplay and multitasking.
Graphics Card (GPU): A mid-range GPU like the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 580 will deliver excellent performance. For higher settings and future-proofing, consider the NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6600.
RAM: 16GB of RAM is recommended for optimal performance, especially if you plan to run other applications while gaming.
Storage: An SSD (Solid State Drive) is preferable for faster load times. A 512GB SSD is a good starting point, but you can also consider a combination of SSD and HDD for more storage.
Cooling System: Ensure the PC has adequate cooling, especially if you plan to play for extended periods. Look for systems with good airflow or consider aftermarket cooling solutions.
Monitor: While not part of the PC itself, a monitor with a high refresh rate (144Hz or higher) can enhance your gaming experience, providing smoother visuals.
Recommendation: A pre-built option like the Dell G5 Gaming Desktop or a custom build with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD would be excellent for League of Legends. This setup will run the game smoothly at high settings while also allowing for future upgrades.
If you're on a tighter budget, a system with an Intel Core i3 and GTX 1650 will still provide a good experience at lower settings.
