Hex & Co Board Game Cafe
For those looking for a more relaxed and social environment away from the typical party scene, the Hex & Co Board Game Cafe offers a unique New Year's Eve celebration. The event runs from 9 PM to 1 AM with an entry fee of $25. It's a great option for individuals who enjoy board games and want to meet new people in a fun setting. However, it's advisable to book early as reservations can fill up quickly [5].
Alternative Social Gatherings
If you're new to the city or not into traditional parties, consider smaller, themed events like those at board game cafes or similar venues. These settings provide a more intimate atmosphere where you can engage with others over shared interests. While specific alternatives weren't mentioned in the discussions, exploring local community boards or meetup groups could yield additional options.
General Advice for Tall Riders
While this wasn't directly related to New Year's Eve events, it highlights the importance of planning ahead and securing reservations for popular events in NYC. Much like finding the right e-bike for tall riders, ensuring your New Year's plans fit your personal preferences and needs requires some forethought and research.

Another USA event? Cant they make these events worldwide at least xdd
They’ve both been at the major comic cons
They got a acouple in China and one in South Asia before but I know they did some in China though.
So uh, they’re fighting in New York instead of Edmonton
About time to show love for the americans because IBO was well received there I noticed while it aired in Japan the Japanese werent digging IBO that much because I havent seen discussions or fan art based on the series While americans where making mobile suit fan art and discussions I might be wrong though.
Does Japan like any AU's? I feel like every AU is like this where the US loved it, but it did pretty mediocre in the homeland; Wing, IBO, G Gundam. I think the only one I ever hear about them liking was SEED.
Appeareantly they love Wing, as they just forced a theathrical rerelease of the 4K remaster. They also buy many AU Gunpla sets, so they must like most AUs
They only like Seed, Wing, 00, and Gwitch those are the only AU’s that they seem to like. The UC to them is like first Star Trek and episodes 4 to 6 aka the original trilogy and nothing else.
So 2 things, one is a question in regards to how much you alternate on the entry on things you've mentioned about it and the other one being that IBO sells, rather well.
The biggest gripe is the market difference being that most of the JP audience attached to the work would be in their early 20s to perhaps a bit younger while other works like Wing and Seed has them exiting the market by being in their late 30s/mid 40s.
IBO gets art but since it already gets enough promotion as it is, the previous works with less projects tend to get more fan works, though another factor is the cycles. 2015-2019 was IBO across the board for art, then 2022 to 2024 it was WfM, atm it is mainly Seed and Quux due to their recent release and by October we will cycle again.
Random thirst posts and/or posts of 1 thing tend to not reflect the wider appeal of a work, sales tend to speak for that. See reddit, despite some of the stronger UC works not always getting conversation, it is far more popular than the forcefully promoted ZZ in the sub.
In other words separating reality from wishful ideas is the key to know what will be continued with investment and what will be left behind.
we need a barbatos statue in times square tbh
Metropolis would be the best because gotham city is terrifying
Gotham's on the up and up!
recommend going to crime alley with the wife and kid
Gotham’s a shithole.
I agree. Gotham is a shithole, and nobody can convince me otherwise.
But Metropolis has a place that’s colloquially known as “The Suicide Slums”.
That city isn’t without its issues, but it’s undeniably the better holiday destination.
It can’t be as shitty as we’re all led to believe given the amount of wealthy folks and industry still housed there.
I’m guessing it’s one of those places where you “don’t cross the train tracks”.
Just quoting Aquaman.
Most big cities are. Ever heard about Metropolis? Superman threw my brand new car at the third interdimentional monster that week and the insurance didn't even cover it.
In gotham you got mugged and killed, in metropolis you got squashed by buildings because of alien invasions, so no thanks, I going to central city
In Arrow, rich people had armed security to go shopping.
It had so much potential...
Hi! I'm (27f) looking for fun ways to spend NYE as someone fairly new to the city who isn't really into the party scene but wants to do something social and fun to celebrate the new year. I saw that Hex & Co Board Game Cafe has a NYE celebration event from 9pm-1am ($25), and thought that might be a good way to spend the evening, provided there are other people there I can play games with!
Is anyone interested or already going to this? (Or have suggestions for similar alternatives?)
Here's a link to their IG post about it: https://www.instagram.com/p/DDsHiB9xU-s/?hl=en
And here's their website with links to the registration: https://www.hexnyc.com
Oh no! I saw this too late. If people have a group chat and organize other events I'd appreciate being added to that, thanks!
Did you make a reservation by any chance? I tried to make a reservation for 5 ppl (including myself) in the Broadway location, but I was told that everything is full 😞. If we manage to walk in + run into you guys, happy to celebrate together! 🥳
Yes, I and a few others bought our tickets using the link for the NYE celebration on their site. Is that what you tried as well?
I’d be down to join!
Hi! I’d be interested!
add me pls!
I’m pretty new to nyc I still don’t have any friends but I wanna go out onto day for the parties where should I go ?
Times Square can be miserable is you aren't prepared and filled with bridge and tunnel. But you should do at least once in your life as a NYer
Honestly NYE is the absolute worst night to go out. If you really need to go somewhere, maybe your local low key pub or dive bar. I guarantee you’ll have more fun sitting at home watching TV.
This is my first year spending it alone - friends now have BF’s, and I’m not an extrovert. I’ll be Ubering so I don’t want it to be too far.
Any ideas?
I live in downtown Cary and they’re having something. The Christmas lights are still up. Looks like it’ll be a cute time and much less crowded than downtown Raleigh
Cary doesn't have any NYE events planned
You’re right. I just went to the post I saw and it’s for an event on Jan 11. OOPS
Either way, I’m sure there will be a good amount of people hanging out. This seems like a missed opportunity for them though
Do you know exactly where in downtown? I tried looking online and didn’t find anything. This seems to be the best choice since I don’t want to end up getting stuck in Raleigh without a way to uber back.
Theeeee house
Well the triangle is a big area. Where are you located?
West Cary/ Morrisville border
RIP your DMs 🤣
This is actually one case where I don’t think that will happen.
And I say this as a very avid “rip your DMs” commenter
The Fruit in Durham is having a huge NYE event with bands, DJs, and hip hop artists. They're also having a "ball drop" at midnight. I know they've sold a ton of tickets already and it's probably going to be a great time for any single people out there.
You can see some of the festivities on the Times Square Cam. Then see all the mess that's left over afterwards.
Yes, it’s probably the worst place to be on the planet other than a hospital room or Ohio.
Haha 🤣 why the hate on Ohio!!!! Ohio has some very very nice hospital rooms!!!! Just saying!! ✌️
Native New Yorker here and we all have various opinions on this celebration but this is mine.
It is fun for some but the event has changed over the last 50 years. The early '80s was the last time I would have considered it. So, here are some tidbits to think about:
If you love the cold, or wet-cold, don't mind being in a mosh pit with loud, (potentially) drunken folks shouting in your ear, think it is just fine that you are penned into steel-gated/guarded areas from which you cannot temporarily leave, don't mind wearing a diaper (watch out for the UTI's!) because you can't leave to "go" (Which restaurant or lobby hotel restroom had you planned to crash? Good luck with that.), and are ready to travel by rail (driving on NYD is really nuts in NYC) with similar partiers away from the scene? Go for it.
If you are from out of town, and do want the experience without the crowd issues, you can book a room (for next year) overlooking the festivities at one of the hotels on TS and enjoy the lights and people show. And, you will learn about all the security arrangements (post 9/11) that accompany the celebration.
What an answer! Thank you for the response.
You are most welcome! Happy New Year too....
very crowded I'd imagine
Just pee where you’re standing. That’s what it’s like. Because you can’t move
Any ideas for where a party of one could go out on NYE?
Going through a divorce and trying not to be bummed about it to ring in the new year. Thanks!
Art Bar can be a good spot to spend New Years.
Seconded!
Main St Block Party!!
The senate is hosting an event
Tinder
If you play disc golf, new years day is the Columbia club kickoff at Earlwood, beginners welcome.
Staying in NYC for NYE. Want to check out some gay nightclubs
Last year I went to Eagle alone and had a great time. The music was really good and everyone was having fun. A hot muscle jock noticed that I was alone so he asked if I needed a kiss at midnight. I said yes! We separated for a while but close to midnight he looked for me and found me so that I wouldn’t be alone at the countdown, and that I had a midnight kiss! It was a great NYE at the Eagle!
I’ll likely be at the Eagle this year. Also alone. I hope your jock finds me. Haha.
I’m going to Devil Wears Nada at Red Eye/Cockpit. I wish to be nude at midnight!
Naked/underwear party at RedEye/Cockpit
Going to 3DB because there’ll be enough porn stars to make it at least entertaining.
Me and my boyfriend are in nyc for nye, anyone know where I can find party favors ? Please message me 🙏🙏

Key Considerations for New Year's Eve Events in NYC:
Location: Popular spots include Times Square for the iconic ball drop, Central Park for outdoor festivities, and various rooftop bars for stunning skyline views.

Tickets and Reservations: Many events require tickets or reservations, especially for popular venues. Book early to secure your spot and avoid last-minute hassles.
Transportation: Plan your transportation in advance. Public transit is often the best option due to road closures and heavy traffic. Consider staying nearby if you want to avoid long commutes.
