What Redditors are Saying

Best Products for Permed Hair

TL;DR

  • Olaplex and Redken are popular choices for maintaining permed hair [1:1], [1:2].
  • Shea Moisture and DevaCurl offer excellent curl-enhancing products [3:3], [3:4].

Shampoo and Conditioner

For permed hair, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners are highly recommended to maintain the health of chemically treated hair. Brands like Redken and Olaplex are frequently mentioned as effective options [1:1], [1:2]. Additionally, Phyto's nutrition shampoo and conditioner are noted for their thickening effect on curls [2:1]. For those looking for budget-friendly options, OGX’s Coconut Curls line is suggested [3:1].

Curl Creams and Leave-In Conditioners

Curl creams and leave-in conditioners can help define and maintain curls after a perm. Shea Moisture's curl enhancing smoothie is praised for its moisturizing properties [3:4]. Color WOW offers products specifically for colored curly/wavy hair, which could be beneficial if your hair is also dyed [4:1]. CurlSmith's anti-frizz multi-task leave-in conditioner is another option that users have found effective [5:1].

Styling Products

For styling permed hair, DevaCurl products are highly recommended for their ability to enhance curls and reduce frizz [3:3]. Maui Moisture's coconut foam and Eve NYC refresh spray are also popular choices for refreshing curls and maintaining style throughout the day [5:1].

Professional Products

Investing in professional-grade products used by hairdressers can make a significant difference in maintaining permed hair. Schwarzkopf Bonacure is one such brand recommended for its effectiveness [2:2]. These products often provide better results than generic store brands, especially for chemically treated hair.

Routine Tips

A consistent hair care routine is crucial for maintaining the health and appearance of permed hair. Users suggest detangling hair with a wet brush while conditioning, wrapping hair in a turban post-shower, and using a pik to gently detangle before applying styling products [5:1]. Regular use of protein treatments like Aphogee can also help strengthen hair every six weeks [1:1].

Hey I was just wondering if these products are good after getting a chemical straightening perm since I heard you should use sulfate free shampoo and these redken shampoos also support chemical treatments. What other products should I get? I also already have k18.

I like Olaplex and this Redken bundle! I have the pre-shampoo bonding treatment and not the item on the far right in this photo. Overall I really like them! I prefer Redken shampoo and conditioner but the Olaplex no 3 for the bonding treatment before wash compared to the redken bonding treatment

Olaplex 0&3 really helps me with the appearance of my regrowth. 0 isn’t a necessity but it does help prep the hair for the no 3. Olaplex is expensive but i feel like it’s worth it so i try to get it on sale and in the bundles rather than buying them individually.

Keracare hydrating shampoo weekly and the keracare 1st lather shampoo every other week. The 1st lather is a clarifying shampoo so use with a regular shampoo alongside it.

Keracare Moisturising Masque weekly. This stuff is sooooo good.

Aphogee protein treatment every 6ish weeks. Protein treatment to be used sparingly to avoid protein overload.

Keracare Overnight moisturising treatment every few days. This is so good at keeping the hair moisturised it’s crazy I don’t even need to put any oil on my ends.

Aphogee Green tea reconstructor after every wash. I’ve noticed that this really helps with shedding.

Aphogee also has some really good conditioners and shampoos as well to look at.

IMO aphogee and keracare are really where it’s at in terms of products for relaxed hair. The Redken acidic bonding is great but I feel like Olaplex does the same thing but better

ORS also has a great selection of shampoos conditioners and moisturisers.

Product reccomendations for permed hair?

Okay I know this is a skincare subreddit but I can't find a euro haircare so... I've been getting a perm for about two years now and didn't use anything other then shampoo and a conditioner. What are some good shampoos, conditioners masks and what not to keep my hair healthy? There's no other hairstyle that's better for me I need to maintain it for as long as possible lmaooo

Buy professional products, the ones hairdressers use. Schwarzkopf Bonacure for example.

I also have had permed hair for like 2 years. And it has been quit difficult to find products I enjoy. I personally also mostly only use shampoo+conditioner, but I also have a great curling cream.

Curling cream I use is from Rossmann: Haarliebe Curl&Shine Lockencreme.

If you can spend more I love the brand Phyto. The nutrition shampoo and conditioner for dry, very dry hair. The conditioner is pretty special in my opinion. It makes the hair feel very thick (thicker than any conditioner I have tested) and defines my curls very well.

On a normal budget I enjoyed the DM brand "Langhaarmädchen" Beautiful curls line a lot. I used the conditioner and shampoo. The conditioner makes your hair pretty silky. Has great ingredients. (But personally like the Phyto stuff more)

On a low budget I can advice to get the conditioner M:C Herbal Conditioner / Kräuter Azid. This is literally used by many salons and it is around 8€ for 1l and pretty amazing for all hair. Def a great conditioner, which I never have seen being recommended.

Also def buy a bonnet, so your hair is protected while sleeping.

you can use anything sulfate/paraben free. if you’re willing to spend a decent amount, oribe is an excellent brand. it’s paraben & sulfate free, smells amazing, and has a line for curls. you could also look into living proof. if you’re looking for something less pricey i’d go for OGX’s coconut curls line (natural ingredients and pretty good—my boyfriend has a perm and this is what he uses).

Diva curl. Comb with a wide tooth comb in shower. Use a tshirt to dry you hair but only very little. And dry but scrunching it very little. Then apply Deva curl product. Alow to dry naturally. Then scrunch while drying. And then either wear it that way ans by second day they are perfect or break the curl that day bh scrunching and doing a crumbling motion with your hair. Diva curl is a product a line not a specific product. You can decide what one you would like to use. They are all great product.

I recently permed my hair I’ve had lots of perms maybe six or seven but this time around it’s really curly compared to the other ones and I’d like to maintain this curl what would be a good curl cream or even a leave conditioner I should use for permed hair that’s also dyed thanks ! (one side is more dry than the other and less curly bc it was bleached i had a split dye at some point so i guess i kinda need to repair/heal that too) ! don’t know if this matters but age 17

Kirsten ess shampoo and conditioner in pink bottles two to three times a week. Occasionally the NatureLab repair shampoo and conditioner. I apply the conditioner and let it sit then use a wet brush to detangle then rinse. I use the CurlSmith anti frizz multi task leave in conditioner in the shower then wrap my hair in a turban. I use a pik to gently detangle then apply Maui moisture coconut foam and brush through with bounce curls brush and scrunch. I refresh with Eve NYC refresh spray or curlsmith refresh spray and Eve or curlsmith wave spray. I have dense fine hair and gel just doesn’t work well for me.

Good hair product for bleached and damaged hair.

Posted by [deleted] · in r/FancyFollicles · 3 years ago

Hi, I want to ask if anyone could recommend any good hair products for damaged hair. My hair was wavy and super dry even before I dyed it. I had it done in a salon, but after a couple of months, I dyed it orange on my own, and now it looks uneven 😭😭😭. I wanted to fix it by professional, but I am afraid that my hair will get worse and thinking to get some hair products to fix it first. I was thinking to try Kerastase brand, but if anyone has any good recommendations. I would love to look into it.

Thanks

I also came here to say Olaplex #3. It’s a game changer for me. Every time I’m going to wash my hair (1x/week) I put it in the night before and then rinse it out the next morning followed by washing/conditioning. Be wary of buying it on Amazon though a lot of people claim it’s not the real product. Sephora sells it for the same price as Amazon

Ah thank you. I just have the problem, I always have to wash my hair everyday.. I know its not good but I have short hair and whenever I wake up, its just crazy, wild and hard to style.

I dont think I cant survive a week without washing it. 😭😭

Believe it or not your hair gets used to not being washed every day! Took a few months for me because my hair is naturally oily but it adjusts for sure!

You could try spritzing it with water to kind of “reset” it in the mornings!

I use Wella T18 toner. It gets the orange out, but can damage too. I just went through that again, of many times. And just keep deep conditioning.it. You can get the toner at Sally's and developer. I'd ask them for deep conditioning suggestions. Good luck. Don't worry, it'll be ok.

Just no more chemicals if you do the toner for a while. I've melted mine with African (American straightener 2 times. Be careful.)

especially if you have wavy or curly hair, what are your favourite products? which products would you 100% reccomend? Leave-ins, hair dryers, serums, oils, brushes, hair gels, dyes, mousse, foams, literally anything you consider a hair product!

The makeup and skincare communities have a lot of Holy Grails which is great imo because it gives a LOTT of product reccomendations

Aveda botanical repair. I use the shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, and styling crème. I smoosh/plop/scrunch my hair with a tshirt and then let it air dry. It took my frizzy bleached curly hair and turned it back into ringlets.

I got my 4th perm* this time last year and still have curls going on! I used Curl Defining Shampoo & Conditioner by ion (got them from Sally Beauty). Then when it’s still damp I apply Design Essentials Curl Enhancing Mousse and let it air dry. On subsequent days I’ll spray it with Eva NYC Curl Reviving Mist. I also have fine hair & no chemical treatments in it prior to the perm and am really happy with my choice. Have fun!!

Hi! So I've tried many luxury brands and they all seem to flop. Instead of wasting my money on keep on trying, I've given most of them away and stick to a Korean shampoo brand called doctor for hair which is sulfate free, and use either Olaplex for conditioning or the Aussie 3 minute miracle every 2 days. AI Answer

🤖

best products for permed hair

Key Considerations for Permed Hair Care:

  1. Sulfate-Free Shampoo: Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo to avoid stripping the hair of moisture and to help maintain the perm's shape.

  2. Moisturizing Conditioner: Look for a rich, hydrating conditioner that helps restore moisture and softness to permed hair, which can be prone to dryness.

  3. Leave-In Conditioner: A good leave-in conditioner can provide extra hydration and help detangle curls without weighing them down.

  4. Curl Enhancers: Products like curl creams or mousses can help define and enhance curls while reducing frizz.

  5. Heat Protectant: If you use heat styling tools, a heat protectant is essential to prevent damage and maintain the integrity of your curls.

  6. Deep Conditioning Treatments: Regular deep conditioning treatments or hair masks can help restore moisture and elasticity to permed hair.

Recommended Products:

  • Shampoo: DevaCurl No-Poo Original – A sulfate-free cleanser that’s gentle and effective for curly hair.

  • Conditioner: Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner – Provides hydration and helps with curl definition.

  • Curl Enhancer: Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream – Defines curls while providing moisture and reducing frizz.

  • Heat Protectant: TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray – Protects hair from heat damage while styling.

  • Deep Conditioner: Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask – A nourishing mask that restores moisture and strength.

Recommendation: Focus on hydration and curl definition when selecting products for permed hair. Regularly using a combination of these products will help maintain the health and appearance of your curls.
