If you're planning a trip to any of the Six Flags locations and are looking for dining options both inside and outside the park, here are some recommendations based on various discussions:
Inside the Park Options
Johnny Rockets: Available at several Six Flags parks, Johnny Rockets offers classic American fare like burgers and fries. However, experiences can vary, with some finding it disappointing due to inefficiencies in service [3:0].
Yukon BBQ and Windy City (Six Flags Great America): These are highly recommended for their quality food. Windy City is noted for having one of the best theme park burgers [2:3]
[2:5].
Primo's Pizza: Found in different parks, Primo’s is mentioned for its decent pizza and garlic knots, which are particularly praised at Six Flags St. Louis [5:1]
[5:2].
Turkey Legs and BBQ: Commonly available at many Six Flags locations, turkey legs and brisket sandwiches are popular choices among visitors [1:2]
[3:1].
Outside the Park Options
Lou Malnati’s (Near Six Flags Great America): This restaurant is recommended over Giordano's for deep-dish pizza, offering a more authentic experience [2:1].
Culver's and Portillo's (Gurnee Mills near Six Flags Great America): Both offer classic American fast food with Culver's known for its butter burgers and Portillo's for Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches [2:3]
[2:9].
Gyromania (Stevenson Ranch near Six Flags Magic Mountain): For those interested in Greek cuisine, Gyromania comes highly recommended for its great service and tasty dishes [4:1]
[4:8].
Charcoal Korean BBQ Restaurant (Near Six Flags Magic Mountain): If you’re a fan of Korean BBQ, this spot is noted for its delicious offerings [4:5].
Vincenzo’s Pizza (Near Six Flags Magic Mountain): Known for its large and tasty pizzas, Vincenzo’s is a good option if you're craving Italian [4:6].
These suggestions provide a variety of culinary experiences, from classic American fast food to international cuisines, ensuring that there's something for everyone whether you're eating inside or outside the park.
Going to Great America this weekend, obvious 6F parks aren't known for their food options. But what would you recommend?
Get the Beef Brisket sandwich or a Dinosaur sized Turkey leg, right by the NJ Devil Rollercoaster!
That’s great adventure, not great america
i usually get seasoned waffle fries, a soft pretzel with cheese, or a chicken quesadilla (i think the quesadilla is seasonal at six flags but ik they have it at hurricane harbor)
Go to the Burger King across the street, your wallet will thank me later.
This is my favorite part of my membership, i got the dining plan, and get two meals and a snack, plus with the high end membership, you get 50% off most food/drink over that. So it ends up being super cheap. $6 for a burger and fries vs 12. 0$ when I use my plan.
I’ve been to the park twice in a month, used all my meals and have paid for the membership for the whole year.
Johnny Rockets
It depends on what you like to eat. I haven’t tried everything to eat in the park, but personally I recommend Johnny Rockets (burgers and fries) in Mardi Gras and County Fair. We also have spaghetti at Capones in Yankee Harbor, and pizza at Primero’s in Orleans. Ive heard from a lot of people that the turkey legs are pretty good, and there’s a BBQ and Sports Bar in Southwest. There’s also the food court, down by X-Flight.
I will be visiting in July and I am looking for food recommendations to eat in the park or any restaurants nearby. I'm not trying to spend a fortune, but I do want more than McDonald's and chicken strips at the park. I do have a meal plan that my wife and I split while in the park. Thanks for the help everyone.
There’s a Giordano’s Pizza on the other side of the freeway - it takes about 45min for their deep dish pizzas but we called in our dine-in order in advance when we started walking out of the park and it was ready 10 min after we sat down - perfect.
Advance ordering for deep dish sounds like a great idea, now i just need to find a place for an Italian beef and chicago dogs.
There is also a Lou Malnati’s near that Six Flags and it is better than tourist trap Giordano's in every conceivable way. Giordano's is where deep dish pizza gets its bad reputation with coasters.
There's a Portillos at Gurnee Mills (external to the mall itself).
Terrible recommendation. There is also a Lou Malnati’s near that Six Flags and it is better than tourist trap Giordano's in every conceivable way. Giordano's is where deep dish pizza gets its bad reputation with coasters.
Yukon BBQ and Windy City are the best restaurants in the park by far.
There are some great local breakfast & lunch spots near the park, but they close around 2-3pm (Tina's Italian Bake Shop, Gurnee Donuts, Riverside Cafe)
The Culver's across the street from the park is also consistently high quality, and Timothy O'Tooles Pub next door serves good food.
Can confirm. Windy City is a good choice. Much better burger than I’ve had at a theme park so far. One of our party got the salad and was was wishing they got a burger when the food arrived. It’s inside. It’s cool: which is a big deal if it’s a hot day.
best theme park burger I've had was at Miami River Brewhouse at Kings Island (the meatloaf burger they have for Winterfest)
very similar restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you
I prefer to eat outside the park. I like Mama K's in the little strip mall across the street, or Salutos across the interstate and west a bit if I'm looking for something a bit fancier.
Great! thanks for the options.
Depending on where you're coming from, you may enjoy the nearby Culver's (burgers and such).
One very subpar slice of pizza at Primo's Pizzeria near The Dark Knight was $16.99. WTF.
In defense of chicken strips, the ones I had this year at the park were surprisingly delicious.
When I go to six flags, I’ll usually get a snack, like dippin dots or funnel cake. But today I decided to go for a full meal, and I got a burger at Johnny Rockets. The food was disappointing, and don’t even get me started on how inefficient they were (I had to wait 10 minutes in the pick up line so that they could make 5 milkshakes for the person in front of me). Are there any good food places in the park that I should try? If I’m going to be spending all this money on food, I want to at least know that I’m going to enjoy it. Thanks!
I like the Wawa on Monmouth road. In my experience the food at SF is generally bad. I try to stick to the tenders if I'm starving.
I’ve always enjoyed their turnkey leg and in the carnival/games area by Superman there’s an indoor food court with some solid safe options like chicken tenders and Chinese food! The tenders are in the yum yum cafe too
Staying for two days in the area. Hoping to go back to back to the park. Staying near Six Flags MM. What's good to eat? Love all sorts of food.
There is a decent mall just a couple miles away. Keep going straight as you leave from the main exit and it’s hard to miss. There are a few bigger chain resturaunts over there that I typically go to after a day in the park.
If you are in the mood for burgers there is a Wendys and an In-N-Out relatively closeby
If you like Korean bbq. I had enjoyed a yummy meal at Charcoal Korean BBQ Restaurant.
I love Korean BBQ! Honestly love eating local while traveling too. As much I love all the burger joint suggestions (In N Out, Tommy's , Fat Burger) , I have these in my area as well. We don't have any good Korean BBQ though. I live in more rural area of California.
Vincenzos Pizza is pretty tasty! And the pies are pretty big
gyromania is in the stevenson ranch area but if you're into greek food it's really good. service is great and its open later than a lot of the other restaurants in the area.
>One of the better suggestions made here. This places looks fucking great!
Gyromania is the best.
On the hunt for decent food options in the STL park. We've been a few times and I've yet to find anything too great yet. Thanks for any tips!
primos pizza is so underrated imo. i got their combo for the first time a few days ago (well actually the second time but when i went a few years back i don’t remember getting any garlic knots??) and it was so good! the pizza def isn’t top tier, but it’s taste soo good when it’s piping hot. also the garlic knots? literally wonderful. crispy on the outside, warm and doughy on the inside. on the other hand johnny rockets is also good if you want a pretty good(a little bit of a hit or miss tho) burger experience. just definitely don’t get the chicken tenders, they were super dry and tasted like they’d been reheated a few too many times. and for dessert i think any of the places are really good, but first cone has in-house made cones which taste pretty good when they’re fresh, and they have some cool flavors! They’re also right at the front of the park so you can eat them on the way out. kept me pretty content on the ride home as a little kid.
Mooseburger has the best fries, Johnny rockets is decent and Chop Stixs is nice
Interested as well as I'm visiting for the first time this summer
We've been 3 times within the past month, and this is what I've found so far. Note that we only eat one meal per trip, so I don't have the most places on here, but a lot of the food is repeated throughout the park anyways:
The seasoned fries are some of the best things I've had, and I prefer the waffle ones when possible. The ones we got from Colonnades Grill were really good!
My mom loved the pizza from Primo's Pizza by Supergirl, but my friend preferred the garlic knots they had. I liked both, and the pizza slice was decently big. (This has been my personal favorite so far, but I'm also biased because I prefer pizza over most other options)
The chicken tenders from Fowl Ball aren't bad, but the nachos they have are amazing. I'd definitely recommend those.
JB's Smokehouse was amazing the time I went in 2018, but I can't speak on how good it is in 2021 since we haven't gone there yet this year.
i got to go on 12 rides in 9 hours:) thankfully it wasn’t really windy even though there was a high wind warning. any suggestions on where to eat? Johnny Rockets was good but High Octane Wings or Carlini’s Pizzeria were not it…
In and Out just outside the park to the right…
No love for Tommys?
Capriottis outside the park is pretty good
Jealous! The park has got to be deserted today. Make the best of it!
It was!!! 10-15 minutes for X2! Was nervous it was gonna be packed but nuh uh. Even better than when I went during the summer in 100+ degrees. The only thing is Tatsu wasnt open, otherwise it would’ve been perfect.
Amazing! I wish I could be there now! I’d marathon X2, Twisted Colossus, Wonder Woman and Full Throttle.
Which was your favorite ride?
twisted colossus with scream being a close second (X2 was temporarily closed when I went on Tuesday)
X2 being closed goes together like peanut butter and jelly, lol.
Funnel cake near the entrance. They also sell Dole pineapple whips and floats near Colossus. I also remember liking the baked potatoes near Tatsu, but I haven’t had that in years.
Good memories of throwing up funnel cake after a rough day on the rides
It’s not the funnel cake’s fault.
Yum Yum Café is definitely my favorite place to eat, though Granny's is also great!
What do you recommend from the restaurant?
My go-to is usually Chicken Tenders and either fries, breadsticks, or Mac n' Cheese, though their pizza is also pretty good!
Granny's and Yum Yum Café have revamped menus this year, and I think the food quality is stepped up (but the portions might feel a little smaller).
Mama Flora's is a pretty good choice as well!
I was thinking Jersey devil, what’s new on the menu?
It was closed with the menus removed last week. No idea if it's reopened yet.
We are going in 2 weeks. Are there any decent food options? We also considered grabbing a bite off site. Any good recommendations?
Very expensive and huge wait. Then of course no tables. This was a miserable experience. Must improve, cannot get worse. At Lickskillett but don't think makes a difference. All same at six flags over Georgia. God forbid you need to eat healthy
Because the food is so expensive at the park, I'd suggest eating breakfast/brunch before you get there then eating a meal there around 3. Technically (unless you have allergies) you're not supposed to bring in outside food, but I don't think they care if you bring some little snacks in your bag to munch on throughout the day.
Strutters and off site golden corral is right up the street.
Late to the game, but someone tiktok (reported by daily mail)posted that a slice of pizza was $17? Is that true?
Not to my knowledge. Food was not great
Yeah I hear you. A year or so back, we took a trip to universal in Orlando went to a over crowded burger place. Skimpy burger meal with no refills drink something like 18 per person. To make matters worse, you had to line up again (burger toppings) and again at one of 3 self service drink machines supposedly had an imbedded code in cup which only gave you one serving it was hot that day and the line for food/drinks, seemed longer than the ride lines
offsite would be great american grill or cracker barrel on site i have been there 4-5 times never have eten in the park but i lived in the area so any fast food or the grill
What's your favorite restaurant at Kings Island and what do you order?
Grain and grill has the best quality food.
Brewhouse is best to get away from the park for a bit.
French quarter is the best hidden gem.
French Quarter never gets the mentions it deserves. They killed it this Halloween/Winter with the specials there. The pot pie was really good and so was the chicken chili in the bread bowl.
FQ normal menu is kinda underwhelming to me, Although there are some days when the muffalatta just hits right, but their seasonal food really slaps.
was it french quarter this whole time?? I fr thought it was called the french corner 😭😭
I know its not on the KI side, but Island Smokehouse really impressed us last summer. Even had some BangBang shrimp that was well worth it.
Brewhouse is good and has good seating to chill out with the family
Raising Cane's knock off is good and fake chipotle
I avoid German house cafeteria. It's food is a step below the rest
Dawg I love Panda Express there. Maybe not the healthiest choice but it’s good. Can’t speak for the other side across from Panda Express never has it.
Panda at all the parks is consistently mid
You know what your going to get
None of the restaurants have bad food. Enrique’s and Brewhouse are popular but can have 30-45 minute waits. Other restaurants with similar quality or almost as good have you in and out in under 5 minutes. So my favorite meals are the ones I can get with the shortest wait.
Dang. We always make it a point to go there. We must be certifried trash pandas
Id typically rank it just as good as a canes or Zaxby's.
The chicken at the German pavilion is below dino nugget
Didn't G&G join the meal pass lineup in 2024?
Grain and Grill was great last year
Considering taking my daughters ages 8 and 14 to Six Flags this weekend. A few questions since we’ve never been. Is it worth buying tickets in advance, or the meal deal etc? I can’t tell if prepaying for the meals or drinks ahead of time is a savings or not. (Are they lenient about bringing food in?) On a hot day, would you recommend we do both the waterpark and the amusement park? It’s a bummer it doesn’t appear you can JUST do the waterpark, unless I’m looking at it wrong.
I’d love any suggestions or tips for these ages, and how to make it as cost effective as possible. If there’s another spot you’d recommend for the day, will consider as well!
Would Canobie Lake park be a better option, cost and experience wise? We live halfway between both.
Bring your own food in a cooler and tailgate. Assuming they still allow re-entry, I wouldn't pay for any food at that place. It's going to be overpriced and underquality.
Food at Six Flags is expensive and terrible. Reentry and tailgating is the way to go.
Yes, the food at Six Flags is disgusting and absurdly expensive. I went with friends the other day, and we went back to the car for lunch.
But, keep in mind it is a long walk from the entrance back to the car. There's a tram, but you still have to walk over a bridge with a lot of stairs. An 8-year-old may not be able to handle it. I recommend either walking back by yourself to get the food, or getting there early and pay for preferred parking (getting there early is important, since it fills up pretty fast).
For Six Flags there is a ticket with a Dining Pass you can buy online that gets you a refillable cup and unlimited meals (every 90 min or something). Totally worth it to get ONE meal pass and share. My kids and shared a chicken fingers and fries as many times as we could. Got like six meals and at least 10 refills over the full day.
We were at six flags yesterday. I wouldn't prepay for food. We went to the water park and snuck food in our bag. Nothing large just enough to get through the day. If you I would do a chair rental/cabana rental so you have a home base. It is around $50 for Six flags and HH add on. The water park is fun though and large, we were there for around 5 hours plus ride time. We did rides first, did the water park and then a few rides after
Were you looking at Canobie Lake from your perspective or theirs? My 8yo loves the heck out of that park. It's huge to them. Maybe by 14 you're a little jaded... I get what you mean though, it's relatively small. We went 3x last year and 1x so far this summer. But I love how it's not exhausting for an old fart like me.
Would you do Canobie over Six Flags? Maybe they are really the same cost once I factor parking in.
I think I can help shed light on that one.
I'd say Canobie is the more light, kid friendly amusement park. It has a couple of thrill rides, but nothing too crazy.
Six Flags is that next level up. The coasters are bigger and more plentiful. Also, the water attractions at Six Flags are probably going to be bigger and better.
If I had to put in my money's worth though, I would hit up Canobie on a slightly rainy day. From my experience, fewer people visit on days with inclimate weather, and those who do show up end up in shorter lines and riding more often.
Oh I have zero advice in that regard. Last time I went to six flags it was a different park. Though my daughter loves roller coasters so she really wants to go soon. The 2 hour drive compared to 30 to Canobie has me hesitating! I'm sure she'll win and we will go in the next few weeks... Adding in the water park seems like a major pain in the ass.
Personally six flags over canobie for rides but if you want just a water park go to water country
Do we need to add on the water park?
I think Six flage has a summer pass including parking for $79.00 per person who like to go more or every other weekend. Food is way overpriced so take with you in pocket.( dry food okay in a purse)
