Seafood Recommendations
Busan is renowned for its seafood, given its coastal location. Jagalchi Market is a must-visit for fresh seafood where you can select from the day's catch and have it prepared on-site [2:2]. Another popular spot is Minrak Fish Market, known for its quality offerings
[4:4]. For a more upscale experience, 풍원장 꼬막정찬 마린시티점 offers delicious seafood dishes with a variety of side dishes
[2:1].
Local Specialties
Busan has unique local dishes that are highly recommended. Dwaeji Gukbap (돼지국밥), a pork soup with rice, is a beloved dish among locals and visitors alike [1:6]
[1:7]. Another specialty is Hagfish 꼼장어 & Raw Octopus 산낙지 at 전주횟집
[1:5]. These dishes offer a taste of Busan's culinary heritage.
Korean BBQ and Other Favorites
For Korean BBQ enthusiasts, places like Anga and dodamgalbe in Seomyeon are recommended [3:5]
[5:1]. Jeju Rooftop offers a unique BBQ experience with options like marinated crab
[5:3]. Additionally, 깡돼후 in 깡통시장 is praised for its fried pork dishes
[3:1].
Cafés and Desserts
Busan also boasts excellent coffee shops and dessert spots. 모모스커피 is famous for its high-quality coffee, though be prepared for long wait times [4:5]. For those interested in craft beer, Wildcat Brewing in Seomyeon offers a great selection
[5:2].
Unique Dining Experiences
Busan offers dining experiences that blend cultural history with modern tastes. Some restaurants carry the "100-year-old business" badge, indicating their longstanding presence and cultural significance [3:3]. Exploring these establishments can provide both culinary delight and historical insight.
These recommendations cover a range of tastes and preferences, ensuring a memorable culinary journey in Busan. Whether you're seeking traditional Korean dishes or international flavors, Busan's diverse food scene has something to offer everyone.
Busan's own 돼지국밥 / dwaeji gukbap! Although the place I thought made it best had seriously gone downhill the last time I visited. I'm sure there's another hole in the wall somewhere else that now reigns supreme though.
These are my favourite foods and restaurants:
I cannot find them on naver map. Copy and paste of the korean word does not work :-(
[KakaoMap] Wonjo Jobang Nakji 37, Myeongnyun-ro 94beon-gil, Dongnae-gu, Busan
Is 2. Literally called 가야공원? Cause I can't find it.
돼지국밥, Deaji Gook Bap(Pork soup with rice)
Daeji Gook Bap. Accept no substitutes.
I would recommend any kind of seafood since it is located off the coast. There is nothing better than eating freshly caught seafood!
You can always go to Bujeon Market and try a variety of foods. You will pretty much get a good mix of different types of foods while exploring a decent market in Busan.
Hi, I just landed in busan today as a solo traveller. Will be here for 3 days. Is there any recommendations for where I can find nice seafood since busan is famous for it?
I arranged a dinner at Chef Gon. Hope it's good.
I always recommend Jagalchi Market.
You get to pick from the day's catch, haggle on prices, and then go upstairs where they cook and serve your food that you just picked out. It is a true Busan experience!! Freshest seafood in the city!!
Welcome! 광안다찌 at Gwangan beach area is great. Book ahead using naver or a booking app.
[네이버 지도] 광안다찌 부산 수영구 광안해변로344번길 17-20 산바다회타운 6층 https://naver.me/FMTppXzI
Awesome! What’s your opinion of the place?
One great place is 풍원장 꼬막정찬 마린시티점. The two main dishes are 꼬막무침 and the dish with the rice (which I prefer). Both are KRW 22,000 (USD $15.70) tax included. It's a veritable feast with lots of delicious side dishes.
After that, a visit to the cafe at the Park Hyatt Busan will give you one of the prettiest sunset/evening views of Gwangan Bridge. It's only a little less than the amazing meal for a single drink, but it's well worth it for people who are traveling - unless you're a hobo troubadour scraping up 1,000 won bills to get to your next destination. There's also Dongbaek island and Haeundae Beach within walking distance.
Hello everyone. We are visiting Busan with a friend and we would like to ask for tips for the best food here.
We love korean BBQ, we would also like to taste some good bibimbap and korean pancakes. Tips for any great food are really welcome. Sadly I'm allergic to seafood, so no seafood for me.
The most viral Busan restaurant is 이재모 피자(Leejaemo Pizza). I heard that they use really fresh cheese :) Can't wait to try one day. And theres huge lines ppl are crazy about this.
I lived in busan for 1.5 years during covid ...
..and it was still pretty awesome.
One tip that I haven't seen yet is that in Korea and scattered throughout the country are establishments/restaurants with a "100 year old business" (백년) badge. Try those retaurants, they have existed longer than my parents & grandparents (who are korean) and they are 100 years old for a reason - premium cultural spots!
There are a couple on the Haeundae area (I'm sure you will be going there). Some bbq and Korean 100 year old joints in Busan is what makes Busan so VIBEY.
Enjoy~~
Busan has amazing fried pork restaurant called 깡돼후. They have the 양념 flavored sauce option, and even as a Korean it was one of the best fried meat I ever had👍🏻
Its in 깡통시장, and they also have some good restaurants around
Were going to the market tomorrow. We'll definitely try it! Thank you
If you are going to the kukje market, then 부산숯불갈비 is also a great option for marinated pork :)
Have fun in Korea!! 😆
Anga is a good bbq. Think it’s closed on Wednesdays though.
You gotta hit a raw fish market and eat the raw fish at one of them.
I’m heading to Busan for my birthday over the children’s day weekend and need some good food recs 👀
if you wanna eat 마라탕 (like spicy hot pot), I really suggest 라라관:
[KakaoMap] 라라관 47-1, Dongcheon-ro, Busanjin-gu, Busan http://kko.to/QOU-zoG_Y
if you want famous 만두 (it's worth the wait):
[KakaoMap] 신발원 62, Daeyeong-ro 243beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan http://kko.to/Nuiz87bEG
and it is illegal to not get any fish cake while in Busan:
[KakaoMap] Samjin Fish Cake 7, Jungang-daero 214beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan http://kko.to/NxkisNvLR
also
great coffee experience:
[KakaoMap] 모모스커피 160, Bongnaenaru-ro, Yeongdo-gu, Busan http://kko.to/B4FdwwaTa
and the steamed buns and the cookies in the food court here are amazing 👏
[KakaoMap] Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch 2, Jungang-daero, Jung-gu, Busan http://kko.to/3INLS8MSI
모모스커피 beware of waiting to even get in. I was there shortly after it opened and there was a 2hr list to enter. But will agree their coffee is of good quality.
On the subject of coffee.
Werk Coffee Roasters, super good quality coffee with a range of in house roasted beans. Many coffee shops in Korea source their beans from these guys.
Naive Coffee Roasters, maybe one of my favorite coffees in the country. Small shop where the owners really care about the standard of each cup served, they’re really nice guys too. Bonus is that they have a cat that hangs around the cafe.
Edit*
Raw & Sweet Coffee (서면점) coffee is a not quite to the standard as the above mentioned places, but certainly is tasty enough. They serve some delicious cookies and the selling point for me is the outside seating on a pedestrian only street. Really nice atmosphere.
Burger Shop Busan. Right next to Raw & Sweet Coffee. I know I know, it’s not Korean food during your short time Busan but if you fancy it or for anyone reading this, their burgers are amazing. Also decent music and atmosphere inside.
Hi! What are good seafood markets that aren't expensive? How much is raw squid in Busan usually? Sorry for bombarding you with questions but you sound like a local haha
No worries!! 민락어민활어직판장 (Minrak Fish Market) and 자갈치시장 (Jagalchi Market) are by far the best. Most places will be about the same price, so a few extra won more is worth the quality in my opinion. They'll all cost you over 50,000 but under 100,000 for 2~3 hungry people.
[KakaoMap] 민락어민활어직판장 60, Gwanganhaebyeon-ro 312beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan
[KakaoMap] 자갈치시장 52, Jagalchihaean-ro, Jung-gu, Busan
For those markets, you go and buy the fish/whatever you want to eat and bring it to a restraunt upstairs. Or you can just go to a restraunt, and they'll go and get it for you. The price can depend on a few different factors, like the quality and size of the animal, so I can't give any specific amounts. That's also why I like to go buy mine, though. You can pick exactly what you want.
A portion of raw squid (산낙지) for 23 can put you out about 20,00030,000 krw depending on the place.
There are quite a few smaller places where you eat on rocks right next to the ocean, eating fresh seafood someone caught that day. Those usually only serve shellfish and take cash or bank transfer, though. You can find those in a lot of places near the sea. My favorite is in Taejongdae (not actually at the lighthouse, but if you take the train thing, get off at that stop and walk all the way down).
[KakaoMap] Yeongdo Lighthouse 181, Jeonmang-ro, Yeongdo-gu, Busan
There are also a bunch of seafood places by Chungsapo, which is a decent, quiet area if you want to go out that far!
[KakaoMap] 청사포조개구이촌 591-15, Jung-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan
9 times out of 10, the best places are the ones that look rundown and like they've been there for 20 years, also if they have an old woman sitting near the door. Can rarely go wrong with those haha
ok last one
here is a super famous fish place. there are a few different shops, so if that one isn't open, the one down the street will be. it's really delicious
[KakaoMap] 우리포차 2호점 11, Gwangil-ro 29beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan http://kko.to/GGtqJK9Yu
Where are you staying? Busan is like ridiculously spread out and takes a while to get around
I’m staying near the station but I’ll be spreading out since I’m there for a few days
I'm going to Busan with my friends. I've been to Busan a lot because my mother's family lives there but never really went out because I don't have friends there. Now I'm going with my friends at the end of this month and I don't really know good places to eat and drink(alcohol). Any recommendations for restaurants will be great especially kbbq, sashimi, and local foods as well. My friends and I booked hotels at seomyeun. Thank you in advance.
I run a craft beer pub called Wildcat Brewing if you like craft beer! https://maps.app.goo.gl/8o2w7wcqGpzR7jPJA?g_st=ipc

Your place looks great, I will give you a visit soon.
Hard and heavy metal pub sounds like a place I would like.
Daveeeeeeee
Jeju Rooftop is amazing! It’s a bbq place that has some other options like marinated crab. Small place but the food is incredible and the service fantastic.
Beer Shop in Jeonpo (one station south) has the best beer selection in the city. Lots of Korean craft.
I have my favorite KBBQ in Seomyeon. I just discovered it recently, and I love it.
dodamgalbe 222-4 Bujeon-dong Busanjin-gu Busan https://naver.me/5ewpaSum
There is another one. it's a buffet set kind of restaurant where you can also do KBBQ. For this, you have to be there in the late afternoon since due to the long waiting line, you might wait for some time or even miss the best side dishes.
chakhanpig cafe 175 Bujeon-dong Busanjin-gu Busan https://naver.me/FWPhMo9L
Hope this helps.
Thanks will check it out!
Chakhan is a massive nationwide chain that uses frozen meat. Do not go.
Hey there 🦋
I will stay in Busan for the next month and I am really excited for all the food ! The problem is I’m a bit broke.. can you give me some recommendations for the best food (no matter the area) - prices up to 12000 ?
Also in Seoul I had a kbbq restaurant with all you can eat option for 13000, is there something like that in Busan as well?
I love 닭칼국수. This franchise has a big bowl for 8,500원 [NAVER Map] Hyeonpung Noodle Soup with Chicken Seomyeon Branch 159-2 Bujeon-dong Busanjin-gu Busan https://naver.me/G3h6NxDu
You can go to Pukyong University for a 5k meal 🤣 and also 콩나물국밥 is freaking cheap. Also convenies are the way to go always
Uhhh most food cost under 12k unless you’re at fancy restaurants anyways?
Go outside and walk around. Taking a bus or subway across town won't make sense if you're trying to save money.
gimbap can be an option. I know a place in Namgu, Busan that has 2,000won gimbap.
Been in Korea since the 9th and I haven’t had a single meal that wasn’t delicious, but out of the restaurants we ate at these were EXCEPTIONAL. It would be criminal not to share:
Looking forward to my next trip back to Korea!!!!!
It seems like Onsen is a Japanese tendon franchise with a bunch of branches? Photos from Seongsu branch look good.
You’re right! Had no idea. Just looked it up and there are other branches around Seoul. The Seongsu branch I visited is small and cozy and as mentioned, food was superb.
Is it this bear-themed one?
https://www.tiktok.com/discover/kumachan-onsen-seongsu
Edit: Alternatively, can you link the Naver/Google location (if the bear-theme restaurant is not correct)?

Thanks for sharing. Pics?
The original pancakes from Pancake Shop and an oat latte
I believe this is the Woodae (?) beef from Legendary Ribs
You are making me hungry early in the morning just after breakfast 🙂
Hell yeah!!
Heading there this week and wanted to know which restaurants I should hit up. Korean or foreign don't matter... I'll mostly be in the Haeundae area, visiting Gamcheon village and Yonggungsa Temple... so any restaurants near there would be great...
I’ve prob had like 30 dwaeji gukbaps around Busan, best one by far I’ve had would be 안목 in Namcheon. Not really popular among foreigners
You can scroll the Busan Food and Drink Facebook for some ideas, or ask there!
The food was so good and affordable here in Korea! The cafe’s are exceptional too! Here are some of my absolute favourite:
Only the tea museum in Jeju? Not sure about the abalone place but wow there’s SO much in Jeju. You guys..please try Ra Shin Bi in Hallim. Kinda more Japanese inspired but it’s a small business owner who came back to Korea and runs his own air bnb with the shop at the same spot.

Too many nice dessert food to eat in single day
Thanks for sharing!
Looks incredible
I spot sancheong sutbul :) great choice. And of course the famous hotteok.
Lots of good recommendations!
Thank you, it took me a while to put this list together.
You found some good out of the way places! I used to look around for new places more but lately I find myself always going back to the same ones, so I need to expand my list a bit.
I saw on your blog that you like 고등어회. It's one of my favorites too. You don't find it very often in Busan, but they farm a lot of mackerel for it on Yokjido, an island near Tongyeong. There are a lot of restaurants serving it on that island and I think most of the places serving it in Tongyeong and Busan get their live mackerel from there.
