TL;DR
French and Upscale Dining
For those who prefer French cuisine, Deux Ave in the Back Bay is highly recommended. It offers a fancy atmosphere with an impressive wine selection, making it ideal for a romantic evening [1:1]. Mariel is another upscale option that provides a vibrant dining experience, though it may be on the pricier side
[3:2].
Seafood and Diverse Options
If seafood is your preference, Row 34 is noted for its quality offerings and is slightly more affordable than some other upscale restaurants [3:2]. Dovetail in Charlestown also comes recommended for a nice meal without breaking the bank
[3:2].
Alternative Experiences
For a cozy and unique atmosphere, consider CAV, which offers reasonable prices and a charming setting [2:5]. If you're looking to combine dinner with an experience, consider checking out Courtland Club, which may offer live jazz, adding to the dining experience
[2:3].
Planning Ahead
It's crucial to make reservations well in advance, as Valentine's Day is a busy time for restaurants in Boston [3:2]. Some commenters suggest celebrating either before or after Valentine's Day to avoid crowds and enjoy a more relaxed dining experience
[3:3],

What are some of y’all’s favorite spots in the city/greater Boston area for a Valentine’s Day dinner? Ideally looking for a place with a prix fix menu and a wine pairing, but not needed! We do prefer French food but open to anything.
Deux Ave in the back bay might be a good option for you! Very fancy, awesome wines and french.
Alright someone give me the drop, I’m looking for an experience + dinner, not just one or the other. Although, I’m not opposed to Just dinner, I’m looking for something more upscale and fancy but also cozy and warm at the same time.
I’m willing to Travel at least an hour away to Boston or somewhere within Rhode Island.
Any ideas ?
I’m also curious, a lot of the “good” places mentioned here are mostly booked on Valentine’s Day
not sure if they’re having a special event, but courtland club might have jazz that night (and nimki’s food is great for dinner) - keep an eye out!
Gracie’s.
Definitely CAV. Their prices are very reasonable too.
Nowhere -- going out on Valentine's Day or the weekend around it is generally not good.
You will have a much better experience going to any of these places generally any other time.
I'm 21m and go to college about an hour from Boston, and I have only been a few times. I am trying to plan a very special Valentine's Day with my girlfriend, and I want to take her to a nice restaurant in Boston. I was thinking of going to the Beehive, but I'd like some recommendations. TIA
A.) Whatever you pick, make reservations right away. If you don’t have resys, enjoy KFC.
B.) My recommendation is Mariel if you have the $. If you perfer seafood, hit Row 34. Also, a little more affordable than Mariel but still great is Dovetail in Charlestown.
So the thing about Valentine’s Day in the city is that everyone is going out for valentines day in the city
You are gonna be slammed into a table nuts to butts with zero elbow room, and are likely gonna be rushed though an overpriced meal and up on outta there
This recommendation may or may not work in your specific situation, but see if your girlfriend would be willing to go a day or two early. Definitely still spend actual valentines together, but you’ll get literally none of the bad stuff I described above, and be able to experience a nice restaurant in town the way it was meant to be
Oh, and beehive is dope. Good choice
Since Valentine's Day is on a Tuesday, I was thinking of taking her out on the Saturday before then setting up a day full of surprises for her and doing something more chill at new on the actual day.
not a bad idea. you might want to check reservations for both dates just in case.
Going out to eat on Vday is for rookies. Cook for her at home then get a BJ on the kitchen table.
I was piss poor when I met my (now) wife. I cooked her breakfast for dinner on Vday and she thought it was awesome. Now it’s a tradition. As is the post breakfast for dinner felatio
We all know what "dessert" is.
Nautilus Oleander
What kind of food does she like?
tony and elaine's in the north end is great, i also really enjoy stillwater! southern style food near south station.
Looking for somewhere nice!
Sacco's Bowl Haven in Davis Square
10000% this is the best for a cool date night vibe. Make a reservation for a lane though
Had a second date there about 10 yrs ago, now we are married with a kid
Noted
Candlepin bowling increases fertility and sperm potency
This is the one.
Lucky Strike in Somerville. You are also close to shopping stores nearby as well to do something before or after, if you have time, if you start earlier.
Brighton Bowl at American Flatbread. It’s candlepin bowling.
candlepin > ten pin
I still like Kings Back Bay location.
Urban Wild in Charlestown.
Going to take my wife out on the 15th. We are in the northeast but would like to venture out. Where is the best food being served? Bonus for a unique atmosphere.
If price isnt a problem the Shipwrights Daughtsr in Mystic is AMAZING. They have a Michelin star chef that creates special dishes. I’m not sure if they’re doing the preset menu that day but definitely worth looking into.
Trying to get ahead of the curve here and I'm not seeing much online yet. It seems every year it books up so quickly I always miss them. Thanks for your help
go to your usual spot where you guys actually enjoy the food and drinks… you’ll be able to have a great talk too as it wont be too busy and you’ll save tons of money on valentines “pris-fix” bullshit small portions sub par food . not being a grinch, just logical
This is what I plan to do, the set menus can be so overpriced and mediocre. We have the rare opportunity to be child free that night and will likely make reservations at our favorite restaurant.
that’s the spirit, you guys have a fantastic time
I saw an ad for The Keg doing a Valentines menu for $70 per person, but it’s 2 course salad starter and steak & lobster tail dinner, no dessert included.
Protip: go out for dinner on the 13th or 15th instead if your partner is logical
FYI - the 13th is Super Bowl.
Super Bowl is on Sunday the 12th.

> Super Bowl LVII will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, February 12, 2023.

Alas, most of us are not this lucky!
Might not be “special” to some but Cactus Club usually does something.
Boston pizza does heart shaped pizzas
I will be going to Boston in October and plan to propose to my significant other of 10 years. Does any one know of any nice restaurants in Boston? Price is not an issue. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Thank you everyone for the great suggestions! I will look more into this when I get home from work. :)
What's your vibe? Are you young, city-dwelling folks who keep trendy and like going to hip "best of town up-and-comers? types? Are you more suburban folks who like the classics done great (steak house, italian pastas, etc. in restaurants that have been around for a few decades?).
Are you looking for a "Boston Classic" meal? Or, something that's more like in line with the best meal you two enjoy, and you'll have that kind of meal in Boston?

There are so many options/directions to go in - if you provide some parameters, I can make some recs!
We are on the younger side. My boyfriend (soon to be fiancé) really loves lobster. Lobster bisque is his favorite food. He also really likes Connecticut lobster rolls. If you of any good places with lobster bisque, let me know!
Totally seconding the Row 34 recommendation in the Seaport. One of the best raw bars in town and also a great seafood menu. It's upscale but not insanely expensive. It's in a super fun neighborhood for visiting. You can eat dinner then find tons of other spots to enjoy a celebratory cocktail or bar hop. It's about a ten minute walk to the pathway on the water of Boston harbor. You could dinner at row 34. Walk to the water after the meal and propose with the Boston skylines and Boston harbor in the background
Neptune Oyster - incredible lobster roll and a charming space. Plus you can walk around the North End after and get pastries.
Row 34 for the buttered lobster roll. It is a great restaurant but wouldn’t say it’s super romantic.
Can’t recommend Talulla enough, if you’re willing to go out further to Cambridge. It’s very small/intimate (12 tables), has made it into several of the “most romantic restaurants in Boston” lists. The chef owns the restaurant and his wife is the sommelier. Giulia (also in Cambridge) is also phenomenal food, atmosphere, and service, although difficult to get reservations.
Fully seconded! I took my boyfriend to Tallula for his birthday and we got the tasting menu with the wine pairing. He absolutely loved it and said it set a new bar for him (from a French man with high standards). It's definitely romantic/intimate, but laid back. Every person seems excited for you to try the food. They're great with dietary restrictions, they made a different sauce for me (no live cultures) with ease and it was delicious. I didn't have a hard time getting a dinner reservation, but I booked a week or two out.
I think Sarma is the no-brainer option. It's relatively new (5ish years?). It consistently wins best of boston. If there's a national/international list of "best restaurants in each state, etc.) - it's almost always the one that is selected.
It's just a really great spot - with a awesome atmosphere. It's not formal or pretentious. The only downside is that it's not in the most walkable neighborhood. You'll definitely need to cab there/back.

I think u/Zealousideal_Foot562 makes all great recommendations as well. I'd just add:
Does she likes books? You can make reservations for hight tea in the boston library and its quite cute the surroundings of the library are very beautiful too :)
take him to a4cade after dinner! It's a great Barcade with lots of vintage games :) located in Cambridge
Papa Geno's in Brockton is where you go for your first date, though. Gotta keep it reserved for that early relationship vibe.
Bit Bar up in Salem might be up his alley if he’s into classic arcade games. It sure about romantic but I’d love to be proposed to there!
I’m looking for a nice dinner for my boyfriend and I for Valentine’s Day!! I know of st Elmo’s, Harry and Izzy’s and such, I’d prefer some hidden gems :)
Napoli Villa in Beech Grove has great Italian food, and it's inexpensive.
This is going to sound weird, but Vicino’s food is great, but if you’re a shorter person, the table height will make you feel like a toddler.
Mama Carolla’s, Geraldine’s
Tinker Street!
Vida, The Meridian or Petersons
Lots of Bluebeard mentions. The food is good but it’s not a romantic environment. Pretty casual and crowded.
Looking for good Valentine’s Day recs for a place in Boston that I can take my girlfriend. Bonus points if it’s Asian or Italian food! Doesn’t have to be dedicated gf either :)
Capo is Italian and it’s dedicated gluten free on Tuesdays! The downside is that would your dinner would either the 11th or 18th this month.
I was going to say Legal Seafood, but I figured this'd be more helpful:
You should check out Phil Hates Gluten on instagram. He’s posted about Italian spots in Boston
Try the apps -- "Find me gluten free" and "gluten dude"
You could go to Bisuteki, which is a hibachi restaurant in the Marriott Hotel in Cambridge. There’s a lot of reservations available on Valentine’s!
