TL;DR
T-Mobile's Go5G+ Plan
The Go5G+ plan is a popular choice among users who have switched from the older T-Mobile One Plan. It provides unlimited data without being deprioritized, a higher hotspot limit, and the ability to stream in 4K [4:1]. Users appreciate the phone upgrade promotions that come with this plan, making it an attractive option for those who frequently update their devices
[4:1].
Connect by T-Mobile
For those seeking a budget-friendly option, Connect by T-Mobile offers a prepaid plan at $15 per month per line. This plan includes unlimited talk and text, along with 5 GB of priority data [3:1]. While not as comprehensive as some other plans, it provides reliable service with the added benefit of in-store support and domestic roaming.
MVNO Options on T-Mobile's Network
If you're considering switching to a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) that uses T-Mobile's network, US Mobile is a viable option. They offer flexible plans, including shared data options and unlimited plans, which can be tailored to your specific needs [3:2]
[3:3]. Another option is Mint Mobile, which offers competitive pricing for unlimited plans
[3:9].
Considerations for Switching Plans
When choosing a plan, consider your data usage, need for international coverage, and whether you require features like hotspot access or streaming capabilities. For example, if you work from home but occasionally travel, plans like US Mobile's Annual Unlimited Premium or Starter might suit your needs [5:3]. Additionally, it's important to note that taxes and fees can vary by location, so factor these into your decision-making process
[3:7].
Overall, the best T-Mobile plan for you will depend on your specific requirements, such as data usage, budget, and desired features. It's advisable to compare different plans and possibly take advantage of promotions or discounts available during certain times of the year.
I have been shopping around for a phone plan to support Apple watch, not all smart watch plans are equal, so be careful.
The price range is around $40-$50/month to get premium data plan + watch plan, but Visible's recent promotion has get it down to as low as $15/month, if you have chase credit offering, or $17.5/month if you don't have that. It is with unlimited data on highest tier on Verizon network, unthrottled, and unlimited hotspot!
Visible is running a promotion ending at the end of 9/30 EST, on its highest tier what includes smartwatch service for free!
The promotion code is ILUVIPHONE, use a referral code to save $20 more (Check my profile for a referral code to save for both of us :))
The full price is $450/year, with the promotion code and a referral code, it will get down to $205, check your credit card for potential extra saving
After the promotion period, the normal price is $45/month, I hope to find a promotion to get it down to $35, that I am willing to pay.
Other providers
T-mobile: $17/month for watch only
Google Fi: Does NOT support Apple watch, phone plane was $17.5/month with a promotion just ended, now $35, include Pixel watch plan, Samsung watch plan for free
US Mobile: Best smart watch plan, $6.5/month if paid annually, otherwise, $9.5/month, but it is only supported in Warp(Verizon) plan, and current there is no promotion for Warp network (Current promotion is for Dark Star), so it can be as low as $16.5/month with 2GB data to $32.5/month (paid annually) with unlimited premium data (or $44 if pay monthly)
More on Visible: $10/month for smart phone for visible base plan visible+ plan, but included in visible+ pro plan for free. for it is $35/month with visible base plan, or $45/month with premium plan
All above providers provide international roaming, but only works well for their best plan, Visible+ Pro provide 24 days of international roaming free of charge annually (2 per month)
Would the referral code really be applied to the price of the annual plan? Or would it apply a year later?
It’s applies to the Annual plan when you sign up I did it earlier 🙂
Also if you have a Chase Freedom Unlimited or Chase Freedom Flex you can get another $30 in Rewards if you activate the Visible offer through Chase before checking out 🙂
Good deal. I have two months left on my current Visible+ annual plan (which I got early last December with an iPhone 13). I think this is too good to pass up but I'm going to wait a few days. But I have to port out and back.
But then the 20$ stays in your account until next year when you renew it. Not sure about validity of the $ you get back in your account if already paid
Do they accept numbers from google voice?
For the folks thinking about getting an Apple watch, you can get a refurnished watch 8 for $160, watch 9 for $230, watch 10 for $270, or watch se 2 for $140. Watch 6 would work too, you can get it below $100
Does visible have tablet also?
Wait till Black Friday. Last year this plan was $395 and came with an iPhone 13.
I’m looking to cut down on my monthly phone bill this year. Right now, I feel like I’m overpaying for the service I’m getting, and I know there are some good budget-friendly options out there in 2025.
For those of you who have already made the switch, what are the best cheap cell phone plans you’ve found this year? I’m looking for something reliable with good coverage, but still affordable.
Any recommendations for me?
I ended up with red pocket mobile because you can actually pick between AT&T, Verizon or T Mobile depending on what works best where you live. Their unlimited got bumped to 50GB high speed
Good2gomobile $60 a year for ATT coverage.
Was trying to look online. Is that the one with only 1 GB of data per month?
Yes
Add taxes and fees which vary by location.
Visible is 19 a month!!
I’ve done a bit of research recently and a few options really stood out for cheap plans this year:
EliteTechMarketplace - it’s not a carrier itself, but more of a comparison site that ranks and reviews the best budget-friendly carriers with proper ratings. Super handy if you want to see all the top options in one place before deciding.
Lyca Mobile – every plan includes international calling, high-speed 5G data, and no contracts or hidden fees.
Visible – runs on Verizon’s network with unlimited everything (talk, text, data). No hidden fees, plus they sometimes have promos like a free phone with select plans.
SnapFon – more of a niche option, but worth checking out if you want something simple and affordable.
All of these are prepaid/MVNO style, so you save money compared to the big carriers without locking into a contract.
Just ditched Verizon and switched to T-Mobile so they'd pay off devices. Now looking to cut my bills even further by switching to an MVNO. Requirements/preferences are listed below. I was thinking US Mobile's 5GB shared plan for $23/month. Just trying to see if there is anything better at the moment.
Stay with T-Mobile's network
I have 2 lines I need to bring (both are unlocked)
We don't use very much data <5GB/month between the two of us
Mostly just looking for reliable service. I can't remember the last time I needed tech support so that's not a big deal to me either.
Don't care about hotspot. I've used it once in my life.
Don't need an upgraded phone at the moment. We both have iPhone 14 Pro's that work just fine.
My suggestion if you go to US Mobile. Go to their Warp (Verizon) network with both lines before 8/18. Change to Lightspeed (T-Mobile) after 8/18. This will get you grandfathered in to priority data on Verizon, so if you want to switch back later, you dont have to pay extra for priority data.
That's a fair point. I don't see myself going back to Verizon . My house is in a Verizon deadspot somehow. Probably still worth doing though since we could move at some point lol
I use us mobile with 2gb shared data. Run over 2gb more often than not, but have auto top off. 2 dollars per gb and unused data rolls over. I average about 20 dollars per month for 2 lines, taxes and fees included. No issues.
US Mobile is great and I doubt there is a better priced plan out there.
There is, mint mobile has a year for $15 a month unlimited right now.
I saw this, but there are still taxes and fees added. So I'd already be at $30/month for both lines plus whatever the taxes and fees work out to be.
Not necessarily worth it to me with our data needs being so little. Definitely worth the consideration if we did have higher data needs though.
I always forget about Mint...I do want to try them out sometime.
I hadn't come across a better price, but figured it was worth asking before I make the switch. Thank you for confirming!
Connect by T-Mobile at $15 plus taxes and fees, for unlimited talk/text and 5 GB of priority data per month, per line. This is a prepaid plan, so it works in a prepaid type of way for payment, where you add money to the account and then it deducts once a month. It's not better than US Mobile's pricing, it just gets you the ability to go in-store for support, domestic roaming, and priority data.
Is the $15/month for 2 lines or just one?
As I wrote at the end of the first sentence, "per line." Also it was implied that it isn't $15 for two lines by my commentary about how the pricing isn't better than US Mobile's pricing.
Helium. If you want to go bare bones, dual sim the free plan with TextNow. Unlimited talk, text, and 3gb data, all for free every month!
My mom has had her T-Mobile One Plan since it launched in 2016. I ported from Verizon from paying $80 to $25 on a T-Mobile multi family account. Thinking of getting the $15 upgrade to have full HD. Despite the data breaches the truth is all companies are prone to selling personal data. In this day age regardless of carrier anyone is prone to identity theft.
T-Mobile is a honest company and the wireless network has grown consistently and really has been using profits to improve, invest and maintain assets. No complaints.
What plan do you use? If you changed plans did you regret it?
i use the T-Mobile One plan and they are not honest. They are liars.
Price Lock a lie. Raised each line $5 a month
Netflix on Us a lie. No ads that came with sign up paid for now $10.50 a month.
I haven’t changed but I tell anybody thinking about getting them not to believe a word they say.
I’m on the Tmobile one. No $5 per line raises here.
As the company grew I did notice the offsets. In terms of honesty they bought Sprint, invested in the infrastructures and improved the coverage. Faster than any other carrier.
I changed my family's plan from OnePlan to Go5G+. No regrets at all. Unlimited data without being deprioritized, higher hotspot limit (from OnePlan's non-existent hotspot) and being able to stream in 4K (honestly just 1080p is great on mobile) made it all worth it. Not to mention that we now get phone upgrade promos... we were already in a cycle of upgrading every 2-3 years without getting a promo for it.
We have Magenta Max. Are they allowing folks to go to Go5G+ or is that not an option anymore?
As far as I know they stopped offering the plan internally. You might have luck with T-Force, but I'm pretty sure Magenta Max is the better of the two plans anyway, so I wouldn't switch.
How much more are you guys now paying from converting to the go5g?
Our bill went up $40. We have 3 lines (paid) and one free.
We did the same exact thing a month ago, pricing was similar, so no real downside that I could see. I did confirm everything with like 5 different T-force reps before deciding to take the plunge. I travel for work and the extra roaming data and hotspot really seems to help out there.
If you want the coverage in the network, save yourself some money and switch to Google fi or you can pick your own T-Mobile MVMO but you'll get the same level of service with Google fi that you get with T-Mobile for a less price. I just left T-Mobile after over 16 years
Lmaooooooo ok shill. That's why T-Mobile is the SLOWEST for me in NYC. Verizon is faster and more consistent. But bahh sheep.
Did they increase your plan by 5 bucks per line ?
Hi all. I have two lines that I’d like to setup on US Mobile and I’m trying to figure out which plan would be best for me. I work from home but occasionally go on vacation where they may not be WiFi available and like to be able to stream music/videos when doing so. I don’t really need hotspot access. I don’t travel internationally. I am planning on using the Lightspeed (T-Mobile) network. Thanks.
If AT&T is good where you are, you'd be crazy not to go with the BOGO deal. If you wanna go with Light Speed, and you don't know exactly how much data you'll be using, start with a pooled plan of say 10GB, and test things out to see how much data you'd use. Or just go straight to getting Unlimited Starter and not worry about counting data.
For occasional streaming, vacationing, and efficient home data use, our Annual Unlimited Premium at $32.50/month (100 GB high-speed) or the Annual Unlimited Starter at $22.50/month (35 GB high-speed) are your best bets.
If your usage varies, I can recommend something even more tailored (If you are willing to try Dark Star, there are amazing plans and deals going on for it) - I just need a quick estimate of your monthly data needs. Let me drop you a DM to help select the best plan for you and smoothly onboard you over to us.
Thanks. How easy it to change plans if I find I need more data?
Like 60 seconds online.
Super easy! Monthly plans can be upgraded from the change plan section on your line, but to upgrade between annual plans, you'll have to reach out to us, and we'll help you with it.
I am with T Mobile right now. I have my wife, 2 kids and mother in law on my account. Right now we are on Go5G Next and our bill is getting out of hand. We are paying $360 a month.
I am looking for a plan that can cover the kids heavy useage and Canada useage free.
How much of your bill is for the plan costs (and is it just for 5 total voice lines without anything else, or do you also have watch/tablet lines as part of the plan?), how much is for phone insurance costs, and how much of your $360 bill is for any devices? It will help gauge recommendations for plan costs.
Also, if any part of your bill is for phones/devices either with or without credits, another question is what are the approximate balances that are still owed on each device, and how many months left on the payment plans are there?
$305 for devices, $37 for equipment and $19 for services
Since I can't tell from your answer if you are getting significant monthly credits/discounts from some sort of promo on Go5G Next, and if you have such arrangements for any significant length of time into the future (and from which we could figure out if you have any significant financial barrier to leaving the plan, e.g., if you had a $500 balance on each of 5 iPhone 15/16 Pros), and if you want a cheap plan on the T-Mobile network, I guess general suggestions might be to look at Google Fi.
As far as I remember, Go5G Next doesn't have unlimited data in Canada so I'm not sure what you are actually looking for. A google search is turning up 15GB for data in Canada while on Next.
I always forget about Google Fi as it’s only a good deal if you have 4+ lines
Pay off your phones then get one of these:
Don't forget Visible and Total by Verizon

Hey all… looking for ideas to save money on cell plan for a family of 4.
We are on T Mobile Go5Gplus plan or something. We all have IPhone 15s. Wife and I aren’t data hogs. Two kids are. Go above 65GBs a month. Live in North Nj. Currently paying 237 a month(it’s because I’m still paying off the 15s)
Any good options out there to save?
How much do you pay per month for the plan itself? How much $ do you have left on the balances of all of your phones?
Spectrum and AT&T have had buyout (probably reimbursements) offers where they may pay you a reimbursement for the balance of what you owe on your phones to switch if you meet all of the requirements. But read all the fine print of any offer you might consider. Just in case it has any sort of provision to claw the payment back if you don’t meet a requirement
Spectrum is on the Verizon network. You also have to consider other network coverage if you don’t plan to stay with T-Mobile or switch to a carrier on the T-Mobile network.
You could probably save with Tello. Runs on T mobile. Cheapest plan with 1GB is $6. Most expensive 35GB plan is $25, with promo 3 month package for $15 ($45 total)
You'll need to pay off the phones if you want to switch.
US Mobile unlimited starter plan is $25/mo, or currently there is a promo for $19/mo if you prepay for a year
This is the important part. The phones must be paid off to be unlocked for use with an mvno.
All the options above, US Mobile, Cricket, Visible, Total, etc are good options, but the first step is to pay off the phones. And if they are getting bill credits for the phone, that may be quite expensive.
Depends on if you want T-Mobile coverage or att or Verizon I know metro and mint and ultra is T-Mobile and att has cricket and then verizon you have visible and TracFone carriers
Maybe Google FI if you like TMobile coverage. But 65 GB is too much for the Unlimited Standard plan (50 GB per line), you would have to go Unlimited Premium unless they can get their data usage down. Unlimited Premium is $160 plus taxes for 4.
Visible Plus plan (the middle one that is currently $30 per line) has unlimited priority data.
Well the kids could learn to modulate their cellular data use…also perhaps the 65 GB is the four lines all together, so maybe 50 GB per line is sufficient for each user
Looking for the best deal on x4 lines. Ideally $25 a line as I currently have the metro BYOD plan but they don’t seem to allow additional line at this price for unlimited. I’d also prefer something on T-Mobile towers but am open.
I would go with US mobile because you can get the starter plan which is practically unlimited lines Seriously hope you have something other to do than speed test on your phone because a normal average user won’t use more than 35 gigs of data and it keeps it right in your price range plus you got a nice slick designed a manager lines I know myself, I wouldn’t hesitate to throw four family members on the starter plan and if it’s on dark star, then it gets really good, but you specifically want the T-Mobile towers so that’s probably a little out of the realm of the question
T-Mobile will give you four Pixel 9as free after bill credits on Essentials and the plan itself would be $100+tax a month for four lines. This is a killer deal if postpaid is an option.
MetroPCS 4 lines unlimited data $100
check out google fi
google fi is the easy pick for you. They have T-Mobile's best and they are running a 50% off special. You can currently get their 50GB plan for 12.50 per line for 4 lines or half of what you want to pay. It's a no-brainer.
Are they still 50% off?
I initially started out looking into a new OEM battery for my iPhone 12 Pro and then started going down a rabbit hole of switching carriers since I figured I can potentially save some money on our monthly bill and getting a free upgrade. I'm trying to do my research, but it's starting to get overwhelming looking at all these plans from ATT, US Mobile, Verizon, etc.
I've been with Tmobile since 2007 on a plan that my parents were taking care of. They handled my phone upgrades and plan upgrades for my sister and I up until last year when they decided to switch to another carrier. My sister and I decided we didn't care to switch, so they turned over the account to my sister and we're currently on the Magenta 55+ plan (100GB premium data, 5GB hotspot, unlimited text, etc). This plan went from $70 per month to $80 per month, so $40 a line.
What should I be looking at here? How do I determine who to switch to? Is there anything better than the plan we are on?
I just found out today that the plan has Netflix standard with ads, which is the only streaming service we have been missing. We've got Disney plus, Hulu, Prime, Max through other family and friends hooking it up.
I switched from T-Mobile at the beginning of the year after many years. I moved over to US Mobile after a one month trial. It's been five months now and no regrets. My bill dropped over fifty bones and you have three network options and network switching with USM. Plus, I have found their customer service to be excellent. No regrets (so far).
The first question is, are you satisfied with TMobiles coverage, and how much data do you actually use? That’ll help narrow down the choices. Also, do you know what coverage from Verizon or AT&T is like where you use your phone?
So I live in a suburb on outskirts of Houston and while coverage is generally fine around here, it gets worse as I head home. There's apparently not enough towers out here and Tmobile has been "working on it" since 2021 when I first moved out here. That being said, I get home and just connect to Wifi and use wifi calling, so not a big deal. When I go to Costco or Home Depot, there's a noticeable lag when i am trying to search something on the apps or send texts.
Verizon and AT&T coverage... no idea, but I'd assume the same in my case when traveling home. I see generally the same comments about them regarding our suburb.
I can't seem to get into my Tmobile account even though I was just on it a few hours ago. Work must've blocked me lol... But the usage chart was showing upwards of 18GB, I think, for both lines. My sister works from home and is a homebody so most of the usage is me I guess when I'm at the office.
Well, assuming 20gb, you would do well with an Unlimited Starter (35gb high speed on VZ or Tamo, 70gb on AT&T) from US Mobile. They don’t do phone deals tho, Most recommend buying used from Back Market or Swappa to contain costs, you can also purchase unlocked direct from the manufacturer.
Edit: This plan is $25/mo with taxes included per line.
You’ll save more in service costs with an mvno than an MNO with a phone deals in most cases.
DO NOT SWITCH TO VERIZON, they service is horrible Tmobile speeds are 3-4 times faster, and coverage is better. I was a tmobile customer for 15+ years and then I switched to Big Red and boy what a freaking mistake that was, the only thing good is $10 nore a day when roaming in other countries but other than that forget it,
Head to r/Tello r/mintmobile if you are satisfied with Tmobile's coverage in your area. Head to r/Visible and get on the 15-day free trial to check out Verizon's network in your area. Visible's data speeds might feel a bit sluggish during your free trial because it's equivalent to their $25 base plan with depriortized data. Visible's $35 and $45 plan have better data speeds. Head to r/Cricketwireless and try their 14-day free trial to test AT&T's network in your area. And no matter which carrier you choose, NEVER PAY FOR AN ANNUAL PLAN.
So here’s the deal - look at US Mobile. They’re an MVNO that has all three networks. You can switch between them and try them all out if you don’t like T-Mobile. Plans start at $8/mo (billed annually) and go all the way up to unlimited at $25/mo. You can then add more like more fast hotspot, etc. You get to build the plan that fits you - per line.
I moved several lines over from T-Mobile this year and I have two left on the essentials saver plan. I’ll probably be moving those over in the next few months. The only reason I haven’t is that US Mobile doesn’t fully support Apple Watch on all carriers, just VZ. Turns out that where I live, VZ has the slowest speed and T-Mobile has the better and faster coverage. So even when I port over, those lines will be on the T-Mobile network. Same service, half the cost.
T-Mobile has officially announced the launch of two new wireless plans—Experience More and Experience Beyond—which will fully replace the current Go5G lineup starting tomorrow, April 23, 2025.
This change means that Go5G plans will no longer be available for new activations or plan changes after today. If you've been considering a switch to Go5G—especially following last month’s $5 per line price increase—now is your last opportunity to make that move.
The New Plans at a Glance
❌ The Base Plan is Gone
A key change to note: there is no standard/base plan replacing Go5G (i.e., no Magenta or direct Go5G equivalent). The lineup now goes from Essentials straight to Experience More, eliminating the traditional mid-tier.
Price Guarantee…
Both new plans come with T-Mobile’s 5-Year Price Guarantee, replacing the older “Price Lock” program. However, recent price increases have cast doubt on how meaningful that guarantee really is. Many customers remain skeptical, especially after the recent $5 per line increase on accounts that were under "Price Lock".
Pricing and Hidden Costs
While T-Mobile’s press release suggests the new plans will be $5/month cheaper than Go5G equivalents, there’s a major caveat:
Taxes and fees are no longer included.
Since 2016, T-Mobile has advertised simple, tax-inclusive pricing. That is ending with these plans. Depending on your state and region, expect additional charges of $4–$10 per line!
⚠️ Should You Switch?
In terms of features, these new plans are almost identical to their Go5G predecessors. The most significant changes are increase in the hotspot data limit, however with it now excluding taxes and fees you will more than likely be paying more than you currently are right now! The only real reason someone should upgrade is they want the best deals when it comes to new promos.
Final Reminder
Go5G plans are going away for good starting tomorrow!
If you’ve been thinking about switching to Go5G, do it TODAY— reps will no longer be able to activate those plans under any circumstance.
A Quick Note to All
As always, please be patient and respectful with customer service reps. These major plan changes often lead to long hold times and overwhelmed reps—none of whom made these decisions. Many of them dread announcements like this because of how tough their day becomes.
Please keep all questions and discussion in this thread to help keep the subreddit organized. Thanks, everyone!
Edit: I should have added YES, there will be a First Responders, Military and 55+ portion of this plan as well. Little info was provided which is how I forgot to mention it, I will update the post when prices are released.
One of the many reasons I’m locking down on my Magenta Max plan with price lock version 1.0. I don’t need the newest and greatest devices, I want my monthly to be the same or lower, making it easier for me to budget monthly. Ever since I switched to Magenta Max, my bill hasn’t changed and has stayed the same.
if I want, I get the latest phones from apple or samsung directly....and I'm still on the Magenta plan...not even the magenta max.
Do we really need these newer plans to get better phones?
Thats the move. And just get the occassional free phones that tmobile seems to throw at us with grandfathered plans. Last one being the Pixel 9. Which im happily enjoying. LOL.
Wait, how did you get a free pixel what do you mean TMobile throws us some free phones? Can you elaborate on this deal?
Doesn't get more competitive than offering Taxes and Fees included, especially at a time when most people have no idea how much things are going to cost in the next 90 days. Offering some stability and fixed pricing should be the competitive advantage.
Better yet, how about offering the exact same plans as AT&T and Verizon and making them $10 LESS per line. Save $40 over the others. It's small but it pays off.
Can we add more line on Go5G plans after today? I assume YES
Until you hit the line limit for the plan.
Yup once it’s over I will switch to military and just close my free lines.
So, it's official. T-mobile has turned into comcast - oh, sorry, I meant xfinity (same turd w/ diff name).
It's disappointing.
I've been with T-Mobile since they changed their name from Voicestream to T-Mobile. ..
I like to switch over from spectrum to t mobile
I can still go from Go5G Plus to Next and still have the same benefits as of yesterday...right? Waiting for the new iPhones to come out. Thinking about making changes in September.
best T-Mobile plans in 2025
Key Considerations for T-Mobile Plans in 2025
Data Options: Evaluate how much data you need. T-Mobile typically offers unlimited plans, but also consider plans with fixed data limits if you use less.
5G Coverage: Ensure the plan includes access to T-Mobile's 5G network, which is expanding rapidly and can provide faster speeds and better connectivity.
Family Plans: If you have multiple lines, look into family plans that can save you money. T-Mobile often provides discounts for additional lines.
International Features: If you travel frequently, consider plans that offer international roaming or data usage without extra charges.
Promotions and Discounts: Keep an eye out for seasonal promotions, student discounts, or military discounts that can make plans more affordable.
Customer Service: T-Mobile is known for good customer service, but check reviews and ratings to ensure they meet your expectations.
Recommendations:
Magenta Plan: This is a popular choice for unlimited data, 5G access, and includes features like Netflix on us for family plans.
Magenta Plus Plan: Offers HD video streaming, 20GB of high-speed hotspot data, and better international features, making it ideal for heavy users.
Magenta Max Plan: If you want the best of everything, this plan includes unlimited premium data, 4K streaming, and 20GB of high-speed hotspot data.
Essentials Plan: For budget-conscious users, this plan provides unlimited data but lacks some perks like HD streaming and international features.
Always check T-Mobile's official website or contact customer service for the most current offerings and any potential changes in plans or pricing as you approach 2025.
