TL;DR
Damage Enhancement Talismans
The Shard of Alexander is highly recommended for its ability to boost the damage of Ashes of War by 15%, making it a staple for many builds [2:10]. The Axe Talisman increases charged attack damage, which is particularly useful for strength builds using colossal weapons
[5:2]. For jump attacks, the Claw Talisman provides a significant damage increase
[4:2].
Defensive Talismans
Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman is favored for reducing physical damage, allowing players to wear more fashionable armor without sacrificing defense [2:6]
[3:3]. The Bull-Goat Talisman enhances poise, making it valuable for tanky builds
[1:1]. Erdtree's Favor is another popular choice, as it boosts HP, stamina, and equip load, helping players manage their weight while maintaining survivability
[2:2].
Utility Talismans
The Green Turtle Talisman is praised for increasing stamina recovery speed, which is crucial for melee combat where dodging and attacking frequently are necessary [3:8]. The Gold Scarab Talisman is often used for farming runes, though it occupies a talisman slot permanently due to its addictive nature
[2:1].
Specialized Talismans
For specific builds, Millicent's Prosthesis and Radagon's Soreseal are recommended for dexterity and strength builds respectively [4:1]
[4:4]. Carian Filigreed Crest reduces FP cost of weapon skills, making it ideal for magic-infused melee builds
[1:1]
[5:1].
These talismans provide a variety of benefits ranging from enhancing damage output to improving survivability, catering to different playstyles and build preferences.
I was literally just playing around with ways to combine these talismans to deal a lot of damage. Here's my findings if you're interested - https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/s/2QKeXoOWop
Axe, Claw, Spear and Curved Sword Talisman are deserving of being here two. Also the individual elemental resistance talismans are better than the pearldrake, there’s very few bosses in the game which do multiple types of elemental damage.
Bullgoat talisman should absolutely be on here. Poise is king.
Carian filigreed crest is excellent value on low mind builds that like their weapon arts.
I like Pearldrake for ancient dragons (fire + lightning) (including Placidusax) but yeah, in most cases just picking the right single-element talisman is going to be the clear winner.
For fun, other notable exceptions where Pearldrake might be a good call:
Crimson Seed is a great way to indirectly increase your effective HP, more efficient heals means over time you can absorb more damage.
For more dedicated casters, you can use Graven School and Graven Mass together to push spell damage even more. You can do the same with Faithful's and Flock's Canvas.
Ritual Sword Talisman is basically free damage if you're primarily using any sort of ranged attack.
If you really want to turbo buff your damage, Kindred of Rot's Exultation is easily activated by poisoning yourself with items and stacks with Mushroom Head and Poisoned Hand.
People fr sleeping on Crimson Seed Talisman. When I found the upgraded version I never removed it ever
It annoys me so much that things that “reduce effectiveness of Flask of Crimson Tears” also reduce things like healing incantations and Prayerful Strike, but the talisman that improves Crimson Flasks doesn’t boost those same things. It feels lame that we have to receive the negatives, but not the positives.
Not every build can run it, even if it's low faith requirement. It takes longer to swap to a Seal, or limits your options if you always have one in-hand.
Every build except for someone running all FP flasks can benefit from Crimson Seed.
If you get good at fast menuing you can swap a talisman, heal, and swap back assuming your current situation isn't too hectic.
The opportunity cost of using Crimson Seed is about as low as anything can possibly be.
Rellana's cameo seems so mid to me. The amount of time you have to wait before you can activate your ash of war seems so high. The ashes of war it buffs are often lauded for their speed and it doesn't seem worthwhile to trade that in for 15% more damage. It's also more situational than it seems because if you can only pick one talisman, then the shard of Alexander directly outclasses it. And even if you've equipped the shard of Alexander and have more slots free for boosting your damage, how often are you going to choose it over any of the other really good damage boosting talismans (e.g. two-handed talisman)?
with how aggressive the bosses act and how little gaps are left for the players to attack. Need to wait 1.5 seconds for the buff is too long for me. In the mean times I might ady pulled out a R1+R2 wing stance combo for more dmg output ady.
the dev really should reduce the talisman's activation time if they want to make it a viable option
Yeah, and from the streamers ive watched use it, it seems like they end up sabotaging themselves waiting for the talisman to activate, and take many more hits than they needed to (like against Rellana where your openings are so short)
Oh, that's clever.
When I used it the duration seemed disappointingly short, but I might have been a bit distracted just trying to live, or confuses this buff with a different one.
The name of the talisman is Dried Bouquet in case anyone didn't know
Two handed talisman also doesn't buff weapon arts fyi
Erdtree's Favor is the "I'm wearing Great-Jar's Arsenal and I'm STILL too fat" talisman
Ironjar Aromatic for maximum effect. Sure, you can't run and are immediately over-encumbered, but that's a small price to pay for insane physical damage negation and near infinite poise.
Shard of Alexander. Ashes of War are so powerful in Elden Ring having a 15% damage buff to them is nuts
I had been running holy damage so coming up to the end of the game I figured I’d need to change weapons. I threw lions claw on a great mace using that talisman and just LTd my way through Godfrey, radagon and elden beast first try
I think shard of Alexander and Erdtrees favor are on all of my builds
My boy sacrificed his life for that talisman. The least I can do for him is to never take it off!
Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman. I can wear more fashion without sacrificing my damage negation too much
This talisman makes Malenia fun (you're allowed to make a mistake!)
Dragoncrest Talisman, Full Bull-Goats, Opaline Hardtear, Winged Crystal Tear, boiled crab, put as few pointing into Endurance as possible, pump Vigor.

Become, UNKILLABLE (to physical)
Never considered those combos!
Gonna be sacrificing some power but my build will still be literal drip.
Pyro/Bleed build. Flame incantations and briar spells with hoslow whips.
Replace it with Crimson Ember Medalion +2 for PvP
I hate the gold scarab ring.
Because I cannot bring myself to ever take it off. I have memorized the quickest route to it. As soon as I start a run, I must have it. Whenever I kill something and think "nice, a bunch of runes" there is this rotten little voice in the back of my head squealing "could have been more tho" and the only way to silence it is to sacrifice one talisman slot forever. Doesn't matter if its a greatrune bearer or a limgrave sheep. Doesn't matter if my build is long finished. Every kill without it makes me physically cringe. My greed has forever doomed me to only play with a maximum of 3 talisman slots.
I have cursed myself.
Cerulean Assassin's dagger. Get this:
You equip this bad boy with any weapon that has Flame of the Redmanes and you essentially broke the game. Almost every fight turns into spams flame, breaks poise, gets crit and regens spent FP from it because of the talisman.
Bonus points if you also equip that one you get from Iji which lowers FP costs.
Finally Flame of the Redmanes is viable
Dragoncrest Shield Talisman/Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman.
I use them on almost every build. Just makes me feel safe.
Put them on a high vigour build using heavy armour, eat a boiled crab, enjoy invincibility
Plus the cracked tears for invincibility, black flame protection, golden vow, and if not against lightning you can use an iron jar aromatic
The gold hand i forgor the name of it but i remember it is from milicent questline bad ending imo one of the bests dex build talisman
Fun fact to the disgusting monsters who want this talisman, you can kill her at Windmill Village (eg after giving her her arm) and she drops this
💀,you killed best girl
Never trust a DEX build
Green turtle. I can't stand playing with default stamina anymore.
Same here. Being able to sprint, dodge roll and attack more often is so nice.
Alexander's shard! :D
I’m strictly melee with all points in strength, dex and vigor. What are some of the best talismans for melee builds or just best in general ?
For melee only you cant go wrong with the talisman that boosts jump attack damage
Erdtree's favor, great jar talisman, the +5 str or dex talismans, radagon's soreseal, turtle stamina talisman are all good options
Axe Talisman: increases charged attack damage. I use it for my strength build
Plus Braggarts Roar and the roar boost setup, easy 3k+ damage per charged R2. And with hyper armor, damage resistance and stamina regen boosts.
Filigreed Crest is good on bosses, but that one accessory that drops from regal ancestor spirit is 100 times better for exploration. I can maximize Hp flasks so anything that out damages the blade gets healed away
Greatjar's arsenal. Colossal Sword weight + leveling DEX and STR means you'll be starved for endurance.
Claw, axe, spear or curved sword talisman depending if you use jump attacks, fully charged attacks, pokes or guard counters the most.
Turtle. Stamina cost of colossal swords are colossal too.
Something to note, the spear talisman specifically says it works specifically on PIERCING weapons. So even if you dodge/stab I don't believe you'll get any bonus from it for greatswords.
Edit: the exact wording is "enhances counter attacks that are unique to thrust weapons"
Just a PSA for anyone that might not know, the shield gives 3 stamina a sec (7.4% increase), while the talisman gives 8 a sec (17.7% increase.) They also stack if you'd like!
I run pure faith builds for a lot of Co-op and I absolutely always have my 10 slots full, Stuff like Buffs, Heals, Defensive Spells etc alone take up half my slots and I use the other 5 for offensive Incantations.
As a caster I have tried the moon talisman from nokron. It's not really worth it...
Then I recommend Claw talisman (increases jump attack damage) and the green turtle talisman (increases stamina recovery speed).
There's like 70 sorceries and 100 incantations in the game. You can't imagine using 5 of them? What spells are you using now?
You'll probably want to swap that for a weapon with a damaging weapon art eventually. Grafted has great damage, but it's also the shortest weapon of its type.
If you're using the weapon-skill a lot, Shard of Alexander and Carian filigreed crest are very good.
Try Dragoncrest Greatshield instead of Radagon's Soreseal and Turtle instead of the Heirloom
Edit: Statwise, go something like 60 Vig, 20 Mind, 40 End, 80 Str, 12 Dex, 10 Int, 25 Faith, 45 Arc
25 Faith for FGMS and Golden Vow ofc and then if you have extra dump it into Arcane
You should have dropped the Soreseal about 130 levels ago, to be honest. Absolutely zero reason to use it on a 200+ Build.
Same goes for the Starscourge Heirloom. You should have hit 80 in STR by Level 175-180, if you want to one-hand your weapon. Or invest more into ARC for the bleed buildup softcap plus stronger Dragon Communion Seal incant scaling.
Better talismans would be: Two-Handed Sword Talisman and Two-Headed Turtle / Green Turtle Talisman.
Edited to add: I took a closer look at your build, not just your talismans. Do you have DLC access?
Freyja’s Greatsword, in your offhand, gives a passive boost to any Redmane ashes of war, of which Lion’s Claw is one. If you changed your entire set to the Scaled Set, you’d still have high poise + good defenses, but be able to save points in Endurance.
Let’s say you started as Vagabond, and you’re at Level 212. You could have:
VIG 60 MIND 20 END 56 STR 63 DEX base 13 (or lower; you only need 12 anyway) INT base FAI 25 ARC 45
Right-hand: your Greatsword; Left-hand 1: Freyja’s Greatsword; Left-hand 2: Dragon Communion Seal (306 incant scaling).
Armor: Entire Scaled Set.
You can still two-hand your colossal sword. As long as Freyja’s Greatsword remains in the offhand slot, you get the boost to Lion’s Claw.
Absolutely. The ritual sword talisman can also work if you do the running attack and Lion's claw thing, since the fight will be over before it starts a lot of the time, so you'll be at full health.
Top comment Sir.
Soreseal and heirloom past level 200??
Soreseal past like level 80 is crazy
Level 200 with the soreseal is wild
Youre level 200+, my brother in christ why do you have a soreseal on
It depends on what type of str build you’re using, which weapon/ash of war.
There are some universally good talismans regardless of build, like erdtree’s favor, green turtle, ritual sword/shield.
And then you get into the details of what your build is trying to accomplish. For str you could go for powerstace jump attacks on halberds/greatswords, in which case you can use Claw Talisman. You can do a charged attack build with Giant’s Crusher and Determination/Royal Knight’s resolve, where Axe Talisman would be great. You can do Lion’s Claw/Giant Hunt on Guts Greatsword where Warrior Jar Shard is good. For the flex slot/s, it really depends on your weapon of choice
Erdtree's Favor, dragoncrest Greatshield, axe talismans, claw talismans. Charged or jump attacks, trade with enemies.
Im using guts sword does these good for it?
Guts sword is great for charged attack builds, but I suggest trying Lion’s Claw/Giant Hunt with it, I feel like that can be even better.
Yes. Any strength weapon you like works
There is no “best”, but if you’re using heavy and slow weapons you’re probably going to end up trading blows with enemies you can’t easily 1-shot. So the good defensive talismans are always a good pick if that’s the case. Specifically the great jar’s arsenal to be able to carry heavier armor and keep a good roll, or the dragoncrest greatshield talisman for a huge boost to physical damage reduction.
Personally though, I’m a big fan of the axe talisman for most strength weapons. As long as the charge doesn’t take too long on the weapon, charged attacks are usually your best option for slower weapons.
Guts sword is what im using and I don't think there's much talisman for it
Ok, so I’ve been trying out a couple of dlc weapons and finally settled on one. I was wondering what the best talismans to use are. (I know the equipped ones are bad, these are from my last build) Appreciate any help you guys could give, as I’m not good at making builds.
Use the two-handed sword talisman for +15% normal and heavy attack dmg (doesnt affect the skills DMG sadly)
You can also use Leda's armor for more sprint, jump and dodge dmg
Spear Talisman for more thrust damage, Carian Filigreed Crest for less FP use, Two Handed Talisman for more damage while two handing, and Shard of Alexander (pretty much on every single build of mine lol). Two Headed Turtle is also good if you feel like you are running out of stamina too quickly.
Mine is Ritual Shield Talisman, since it prevents a lot of one shots if you have low vigor later in the game.
I can never go without the green turtle talisman. Quicker stamina regen just fits my playstyle and the talisman always has a tangible effect in combat. I always ran the chloranthy ring in the dark souls trilogy, as well as the hunter rune in bloodborne.
Mine is Arrow's Reach. I'm playing a samurai/mage and have meteorite staff with the Rock Sling sorcery. Rock Sling is one of only a few spells affected by Arrows Reach. I can start flinging rocks from about twice the distance of other spells.
I didn't know Rock Sling got affected by that. The more you know!
God bless Reddit! Also works on Ambush Shard.
Still unbelievable that you can get both within 15-20 mins of your playthrough without killing any enemies
Rotten wing sword insignia just because it’s pretty compatible with many different weapons, one of which I learned most recently was Maria’s executioner sword AoW. You can also stack its effect with millicent’s prosthesis and the cracked tear so you can get some pretty insane damage numbers with minimal effort.
You can pair it with malenias hand, get some pretty good damage off waterfowl
Bull-Goat.
If you have Poise then you're either ugly or you're wearing Bull-Goat Talisman.
Or both!
dragoncrest greatshield just the best physical dmg defense buff talisman in the game.
I think the only talisman I consistently wear almost the time is one of the Dragoncrest talismans -- the only time it ever gets switched out is PvP in favor of Bullgoat.
Shard of Alexander is basically a staple on any playthrough.
I’m more of a warrior jar shard enjoyer myself
Yeah you get like +5% on Alexander’s shard but at the cost of not being able to use the talisman for more than half of the game. It’s kinda nuts.
Not if you run a sorceries/incantations build, it only increases dmg of skills. So no, definitely not useful in ANY playthrough, just in the ones where you use skills.
You’d be stupid not to use it
The only time I didn't use it was when I did a Great Stars+Spiralhorn Shield Parrying build
I love weapon arts, I have a hard time not using shard of Alexander.
Plus the sentimental value of it- you didn’t go in his pot, but a piece of him is literally always with you, lending you his (and radahns) power.
Erdtree favor+2
Radagon Soreseal + Dragoncrest Shield is a great early game combo
Erdtree Favor is an all-rounder that I almost never take off on STR/DEX/Quality builds
Radagon Icon for casters
Green Turtle is the best filler
Can't go wrong with Winged Sword/Millicent Prosthesis on things like Twinblades and Wild Strikes and etc
Claw Talisman for unga bunga
Great Jarsenal as needed
I'd definitely use Shard of Alexander/Filigreed Crest more if I was spamming a strong AoW, but that's often not my style
Best talismans in elden ring
Key Considerations for Talismans in Elden Ring
Playstyle Compatibility: Choose talismans that complement your build (e.g., melee, magic, or hybrid). Some talismans enhance physical damage, while others boost spellcasting or provide defensive benefits.
Stat Boosts: Look for talismans that increase key stats relevant to your character, such as Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, or Faith, depending on your build.
Damage Reduction: Some talismans provide damage reduction against specific types of attacks (e.g., physical, magic, fire), which can be crucial for survivability in tougher encounters.
Utility Effects: Certain talismans offer unique effects, such as increased stamina recovery, enhanced healing, or improved item discovery, which can be beneficial in various situations.
Top Talismans to Consider:
Erdtree's Favor: Increases HP, stamina, and equip load, making it a versatile choice for many builds.
Ritual Shield Talisman: Boosts guard damage negation, ideal for shield users who want to enhance their defensive capabilities.
Radagon's Scarseal: Raises multiple stats (Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity) at the cost of increased damage taken, great for early to mid-game builds.
Moon of Nokstella: Increases magic damage and can be particularly useful for magic-focused builds.
Great-Jar's Arsenal: Increases maximum equip load, allowing for heavier armor and weapons without sacrificing mobility.
Recommendation: Tailor your talisman choices to your specific build and the challenges you face in the game. Experiment with different combinations to find what works best for your playstyle and the enemies you encounter.
