The view of the city from the Horniman museum and gardens is lovely plus the museum and gardens are free (there are charges for the butterfly house and aquarium though).

Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath.

The new part of Tate modern has a viewing balcony in 10th floor with amazing views of the river, the city of London, the tower and Tower bridge. It's free.

Greenwich Park. Primrose Hill. For the effort, make your way to Richmond Park. There's a protected sight line so you can see all the way to St Paul's.

For free probably Parliament Hill or Crystal Palace.

I went up the Shard for sunset on a beautiful summer night and that’s one that I haven’t topped.

Greenwich park. I’d also suggest a walk around nunhead cemetery, there’s a spot where you can see St Paul’s through a gap in the trees and there’s a bench to just zone out on. Bonus view if you get the train from Nunhead station afterwards, makes the wait much easier when you have a panoramic view across the city.

If you take a walk around the Crystal Palace “triangle” there are certain side roads that have a great & unexpected view.

On the steps down to the beach on the southbank I’ve watched some nice sunsets

I recommend Crystal Palace Park, either near the bus station/upper terrace or near the lake by the cafe.

Brescia parking /lot hill. There is a field and a hill area. Or tri forks I always enjoy for sun down

Best bet is to head to the west end where it’s pretty elevated. I would suggest the Hyde Park/Fanshawe Park Road area maybe take a drive out to Ilderton as the sun is setting very peaceful drive.
