Considerations Beyond the Discussions
When choosing VST plugins for your Mac, consider compatibility with your DAW and whether the plugins support your Mac's architecture (Intel or Apple Silicon). It's also important to assess your needs—whether you require plugins for mixing, mastering, or creative sound design—and choose accordingly. If you're new to music production, starting with free plugins can be a great way to explore different sounds and techniques without financial commitment.
I'm sure this has been posted a bunch but I'm looking for some good plugins for my Mac, currently running studio one. I have a lot of good Vst's, trillion, omnisphere, etc. But I'm still using the generic compressors and eq's and delays and stuff that come with S1.
Any suggestions would be great!
Check out TOKYO DAWN. EQ. Compressor, and NOVA. Stunning quality. Free and paid.
Everything Valhalla is incredible. I use Room and Delay on every project.
Soundtoys makes a lot of great ones
I'll check them out! Anything I should look for in particular?
Decapitator gets used a lot, as does the plate reverb
Second the Tokyo dawn stuff
I just got UAD Spark and I am loving it.. Also Soundtoys is probably my favorite collection of "creative" plugins.

I was wondering which plugins were the best, and I wanted to hear other opinions as well.
"Best"? Hmmmmmm...
I can tell you which ones I use the most.
I can also tell you which ones are my "favorite."
...best?
(...ask me tomorrow and I might come up with a different list.)
Soothe 2 is a must-have for vocals!
I’ve completely loved every kit in ad2 so far, but was a little disappointed with the indie kit
Serum. Fruity limiter, Valhalla freq echo, distructor, and…. Serum for sure.
Sylenth1, reFX Nexus 5, Fruity Parametric EQ 2, Fruity Reeverb 2, Keyzone Classic

Surge xt not surge cut autocorrect 😭
I’ve been using Fresh Air and Valhalla Supermassive, but I’m looking for some other free plugins.. I mostly do vocal production. Thank you!
Cramit is a multiband compressor that I really dig.
Spitfire Audio's LABS instrument series is really cool too.
MAutoPitch is a free autotune/formant shifting plugin that I use a lot.
Decent Sampler is a pretty unique sampler made by this one youtuber, and he releases soundpacks for it based on strange instruments he finds and samples.
ZAK Sound's Retro Keys VII is an instrument plugin that emulates oldschool electric pianos, good for softer jazzier beats.
Surge is an insanely powerful free synth, def check it out.
OctaSine is a modular synth plugin, you can mess around with modules similar to old Moog and Eurorack synths and get some interesting sounds going.
Go to plug in boutique and search in the free section you’ll find some there
I'd suggest grabbing the entire MeldaProduction suite from pluginboutique for free. It's basically an extra set of stock plugins. A lot of them blow Ableton's stock plugins out of the water (no offense to Ableton, their stock plugins are great lol)
How do those plugins compare to stock logic plugins?
iZotope Vinyl
Nah... I don’t.
I'm assuming your relatively new to producing?, unfortunetly I'm unaware of free mac vst's however alot of paid ones do offer trial versions, usually they come with some type of limitation like playing a static kind of noise every 20 seconds or only working for 20 minutes before you need to start up a new instance of it, however if you get yourself into the habit of bouncing your audio (rendering to wave) which is just good housekeeping and reduces resources on your mac you should be able to play with some of the best plugins without spending a penny, from my experience preset packs work flawlessly also with the trial versions, I little tip also if you do decide to do this I usually keep a copy of the midi data along with the wave file and remove the synth from the midi version and rename it to whatever synth I used followed by preset name, I hope this made some kind of sense.
Heyy anyone that wants any VSTs easier and safer DM me I can help you! I have almost anything ⚡👍
you got Ripchord? I need that Chord plugin where you press one key and it plays chords..
Ripchord is free bro

Hit me up ig : prodalliancevst
Hit my IG: pluggz____
Yeah I have it. DM me

I have a MacBook and use Garageband and Bias FX2. I'm now cherry picking some great, high quality separate FX plugins, like Valhalla DSP. Aside from the "basic" effects I'm also looking for more creative FX like some of the modern pedals that allow you to create more out-there sounds.
Any suggestions?
Look if you want a great Swiss army knife there is Helix Native.
But there are a million different specialist plugins that people use.
For instance - i am In Love with several of the different effects from Soundtoys.
I thought bias fx2 was good until I tried the neural dsp archetype plugins. I have Nolly, omega and plini.
Soundtoys stuff is good. I have the bundle and mostly use Echoboy, but some of the other stuff too.
Thanks, tried it but I think it needs a bit of tweaking and exploring
Soundtoys. Get the bundle. It’s all the creative tools you’ll ever need.

This list is mostly for amp sims but many of them do have a set of fx. Helix Native has a ton of great fx.
For reverb the Fractal FAS-FX Reverb is excellent. Way more natural sounding than ValhallaRoom for example.
Hello! Recently, I've gotten into composing cinematic-ish music, and I'd like to know if any of you have good plugins recommendations.
Also, I'd like some recommendations for drumset plugins as well (preferably for metal).
Thanks in advance!
CamelCrusher is heavily used by producers on different DAWS for distortion and it’s free
SpaceBlender by Soundtoys is free for limited time. Worth checking.
I like Musio as an affordable orchestral library
spitfire labs has decent sounding free options
Tons of Kontakt librariesare geared towards cinematic styles. Especially from the likes of Spitfire Audio or Audio Imperia.
There's also a Braaam VSTi, I forget the name but it is pretty good.
Im selling each plugin for 5usd or all for 170usd , It incluides the installer setup + crack (in case its needed) and + installation guide. I got all of these in my google drive account. this is what i have Send a dm if you want to buy anything
