TL;DR Yes, Best Buy offers a credit card through Citibank, with options for financing and rewards. You can apply online or in-store.
Application Process
You can apply for the Best Buy credit card either online or in-store. Applying in-store might give you better approval odds and potentially a higher credit limit [1:2]. If approved, you receive a card number immediately to make purchases while waiting for the physical card to arrive
[1:1]. You will also get instructions on how to set up your account online for payments
[1:1].
Card Options and Benefits
Best Buy offers two types of cards: the Best Buy Store Card and the Best Buy Citi Visa Card. The store card can only be used at Best Buy, whereas the Visa card can be used anywhere and offers additional benefits like cashback on everyday purchases [2:2],
[3:3]. The card often provides 0% financing options for large purchases, which many users find beneficial for expensive items
[2:1],
[3:4].
Considerations Before Applying
While the Best Buy credit card can be useful for financing large purchases, there are other credit cards that may offer better overall benefits, such as higher cashback rates or more versatile rewards programs [3:2],
[3:6]. It's important to weigh these factors based on your purchasing habits and financial goals.
Approval and Account Management
Once approved, you may need to verify your details with Citibank before receiving your card [4:1]. You can check the status of your application and manage your account online through Best Buy's website
[4:3]. However, linking your card to your online account may take some time after receiving the physical card
[4:8].
Alternative Payment Methods
In addition to the Best Buy credit card, you can use services like Afterpay to purchase items from Best Buy both online and in-store [5:1],
[5:2]. This could be another option for spreading out payments without using a traditional credit card.
Im gearing up to by a tv soon and i see they have a 12 month option for financing so I was wondering how that would go?
would it be i apply at checkout and assuming i get approved, they give me a card number and details and charge the tv to it immediately while i wait for the physical card to come in the mail? Do they give me a website to pay the card off?
You could apply online, but sometimes in store gives you better approval odds and bigger credit limits. And it helps out whatever employee signs you up for it.
I wouldn’t go in store tbh with all these going on. I figured I’d just order delivery online
No worries
Apply at checkout.
If approved: We'll do credit card lookup, your social and billing zip.
You choose financing options
If declined: citibank will contact you within 30 days saying why.
You'll be notified through email on how to sign up through citibank bestbuy portal. You can pay online easily and in store by cash, debit, or check.
I could also do it from the item page right? Cuz it has multiple financing options at the item page and when I click 12 month, it asks me to apply there
Yeah. Just a heads up we get credit for apps in store so if you fell ok doing it in store whoever helps you apply would be grateful
Yes.
I’m trying to get a school computer from Best Buy and I’d like to pay it off monthly instead of paying such a big sum rn. I’m not too diversified in how credit cards like this work. Is it good? Should I just hold off and save the money up? How exactly would the payments look like?
I wish they taught things like this in school :/ I have absolutely no idea how any of this works
I got the BB card over 20 years ago and while I don’t normally recommend store cards, I do like it for one reason. The only time I use it is for large purchases, and there is always 0% financing available for 6/12/18/24 months depending on the amount financed.
Depending on your credit, you might be able to choose the Best Buy Store Card or the Best Buy Citi Card. I'm not sure what the cut off is for credit score or credit history, but the BBY Citi Card is great because you're able to get cashback on every day purchases. I believe they'll send out offers for 0% financing outside of Best Buy. It's also a great option if you need to return and exchange items right away.
If you’re buying an Apple computer, the Apple Card would be another option for you, if you qualify for it.
Citi DoubleCash would be better. Then you could use FlexPay on it.
Usually not.
I think the best buy credit card is one of the few cards I would recommend. I got offered 18 months zero interest on a MacBook pro purchase for my mom. Comes out to less than $75 a month.
Personally it's a no brainer for large expenses there. I used it for a fridge once too.
I'm thinking of getting the best buy card so I can pay overtime because I have a large university purchase but idk if it's worth it.
For 0% financing I think there are better cards.
If an extra 4% back on Best Buy purchases as store credit is more valuable to you than travel rewards, sure. Edit: But the US Bank Altitude Reserve gives 4.5% effective back since Best Buy accepts Apple Pay, so that card would be better for many.
Please note, the Best Buy card offers 0% financing OR an extra 4% back. Not both.
If you decide to get the Best Buy card, get the Visa, not the store card.
If you don't mind me asking, why the visa over the store card?
Well, the store card can ONLY be used at Best Buy. I don’t know of any downsides of the Visa. Not sure why they offer the store card, other than maybe the underwriting requirements are less strict?
Another commenter pointed out that store cards are annoying because they can only be used at that store. That’s not an issue with the Best Buy Visa. It earns 3% rewards on gas and 1% elsewhere. And no foreign transaction fee, which isn’t common with no-annual-fee Visas.
When did it go to 4%? Mine was 5% when I got it and to my knowledge it still is. I got the store card originally with a 2k limit and after a year or two they upgraded it to the Visa and doubled the limit without me applying or asking for it.
If you shop there a lot and make expensive purchases it is probably worth it because I will get emails about no interest for 18 or 24 months on the card if I spend x amount of dollars.
0% for 24 is pretty awesome and available most of the time.
Not everyone can drop 1500 on a tv at will.
1500 is very easy to pay off in 24
This is why I enjoy the card. When I got it in 2014 to buy my Xbox One, I set it up to auto draft $200 monthly. At that pace pretty much anything that qualifies for 0% gets paid off within its deadline. As long as I don’t drop over 4.8k at Best Buy (I don’t believe they have anything longer than 24 months) then it’ll be paid off in time.
Certainly better welcome bonuses, doesn't seem worth it to me unless you shop at best buy a lot
I kind of do, I buy all my electronics at Best Buy.
Hard to say then, the welcome bonuses of other cards outweigh it for me usually. Amazon card gives $100 on acceptance and 5% cash back.
The 10% back on first day purchases could be worth it if you were really gonna spend alot
A real credit card would be more valuable. U.S. Bank Cash+ would give you 0% APR for 12 months, 200$ after spending 1K, 5% back at electronics stores (bestbuy, microcenter, newegg), and more rewards elsewhere too.
I looked into the Best Buy credit card and looked around and found there are a lot better cards out there.
The best credit card comparison site I came across (where I ended up getting my card from) is called SuperMoney.
So I just applied for the best buy credit card and got this message, " Thanks for your application. Please call Citibank N.A. using the numbers below to provide a few more details and receive a decision." So I called the number and provided the information. The representative said I just needed to verify my home address and phone number, so he sent a text to my phone and then told me "congratulations you're approved for the Citi Visa Credit Card with a starting limit of $4,000." I said thanks and hung up. Then my computer screen refreshed and it shows I was approved for the "best buy store card" and not the visa like I was told.
I'm not too upset about this, however I am confused. I tried calling best buy credit card customer service and they said that they only see I was approved. They said I'd have to go to a best buy store in person and see if it's actually the visa or just the store card version. And if it was the store card, I'd have to apply again for the visa version, but there's no guarantee I'd be approved for the upgrade. I was also told it could result in another hard pull on my credit report.
Has this happened to anyone else? I mean I didn't plan on spending the card outside of Best Buy, but I don't like being told I was approved for the visa when I apparently wasn't.
Yeah you don't want to apply again, since an account was just opened now, could just pull an immediate denial. It could've been an honest mistake from the rep saying that, but guess you won't truly know unless you go into the store or wait for the card to come in. Hope you get it all figured out.
I'm not going to apply again. I'll be honest though, if it is JUST the store card I'm going to be shocked. $4,000 is kind of a high starting limit for the store card version, right?
For a store like Best Buy I wouldn't think so, considering one item can cost as much if not more. I think it's, also, very dependant on the applicant and their credit as well. So hopefully that limit will cover everything you'd need from there, if not more!
Log into your best buy account and look. It will tell you what you were approved for I imagine under payment options
So I do have the BestBuy Visa Card after all. The way to verify what kind of card you have, you have to click on the "check application status" link on best buy. Enter in the information requested to pull up account. After that, click "continue shopping" link and it will bring up the details of your card. It verified that I do in fact have the Visa. However, it can't link the card to my account online until after it arrives in the mail, which is kind of annoying.
Interesting. Make sure you log in and out. I know I was able to purchase on bestbuy with the visa immediately but I had to log off and on and go back to the application status like you mentioned. You'll need to create a separate login on the best buy site for payments and check information for it. This is done on best buys site not Citi. The login is very much like a store card login. It's pretty awkward.
The card hasn't linked to my account yet for some reason, so I can't tell.
the store is useless -- everything from the credit card to gift card usage....their staff are about as useful as lab monkeys.
Wait for card.
There's nothing they can do for you in store.
This happened yesterday but vice-versa 🤷🏽♂️
Can I use Afterpay to purchase in store at best buy ? Or even use it online to buy at best buy ?
Yes, go through afterpay...not best buy...if u have a bb acct, u can still log in when going through afterpay
Ahh grand so and can I pay in store with the app still yeah ?
Yes, you should be able to select pay in-store and choose best buy.
I just did the online app and got the card. Can I go into a store and ask them to look up my information using my DL /other ID like CCs? thanks
In store we’ll use your any government ID
thank you !
You can, go to bestbuy.com and select the "credit card" section above the manage account button there is a "Check your application status" click that
Log in and follow the prompts to save the card to your account.
Then go to your best buy profile and go to manage credit cards, find the new card and "Save as primary"
So just opened a bestbuy credit card but how do I pay it? I purchased a tv but can't figure out how to pay it back. My primary banker is wells Fargo
I pay by carrier pigeon to my local Best Buy. They just expect it monthly now. 8 am every third Monday.
This is actually misleading. We give the carrier pigeons the mornings off. They only have to punch in between 12pm and 6pm. They often take their lunches between flights. Thanks for giving them the recognition they deserve.
Edit: for clarity, the best worms come out in the morning and we respect the birds individual needs.
This is my own personal one that I have trained only for the sole purpose of paying off my Best Buy card. Since there is no yearly fee on the card I felt like the cost of the carrier pigeon yearly would be the cost of what an annual fee of most credit cards would be. It averages out.
Additionally, you can go in store with your ID and make payments with debit card, check, or cash.
Once you get the card you will be able to register your online account.
In the mean time if you wanted to make a payment you can do it by mail, phone or in store with cash check it debit card.
Phone # to pay 1-888-574-1301
Aside from paying online, you can pay in store via cash, debit or check. Just bring your ID to look up your account.
You can do it thru the Best Buy website or app. Personally I use the app.
does anyone know if i can use my best buy visa card anywhere that accepts visa and still pay stuff off in a certain amount of time interest free
DISCLAIMER: These offers may not be available to all cardholders. I've had my Best Buy Visa Card since 2017.
The My Best Buy Visa Card does offer 0% promotions on purchases outside of Best Buy. Since 2021, Best Buy has regularly sent me emails with a subject line like: "Reminder: Purchases made on your My Best Buy® Visa® Card are eligible for 6 month financing..." I've been able to take advantage of this promotion multiple times over the years. I ALWAYS pay it off before the promotional period expires to avoid being charged the deferred interest. Again, these promotions are specifically for purchases made outside of Best Buy. I usually use these offers to purchase items and vacations that I want to pay for over a few months instead of all at once. There's usually a minimum purchase amount like $299 or $499 on a single receipt. Other terms apply as well, but the terms are reasonable.
This offer is honestly the #1 reason why I haven't canceled my card. To my knowledge, no other credit card offers these interest-deferred (0% if paid in full before expiration), no-fee, Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) style promotions. If you've heard of any other credit card that has a similar consistent offer, please let me know!
Side Rant: Gold tier cardholders have to pay a $59 annual fee, while Platinum tier cardholders get the same benefits for no annual fee. And you can't do a product change/upgrade from Gold to Platinum based on your loyalty and creditworthiness. You have to close your current account and then reapply and hope that you get a Platinum tier offer. It's an insane, customer-hostile policy!!! Do better Best Buy/Citi!!!
Hey there—do you get this promotion once you accept the offer? I think I got something similar.
Yeah, I’d make sure to activate it. Sometimes it’s automatically activated, but I’d do it yourself just to be sure.
Make a charge yes. No interest, highly unlikely.
Also if you already have a interest free charge (from Best Buy) you may be potentially jeopardizing that.
Most cash back credit cards from the big banks offer a 0% APR for the first 12 months. If you want a card with a longer 0% APR period you can find a few with 18 months, or 21 months, or 24 months.
Bank of America BankAmericard Card - No SUB. Offers 0% APR for the first 18 billing cycles on purchases and balance transfers made in the first 60 days after opening your account.
Citi Diamond Preferred Card - No SUB. Offers 0% APR for the first 21 months on balance transfers and 12 months on purchases.
Citi Simplicity Card - No SUB. Offers 0% APR for the first 21 months on balance transfers and 12 months on purchases.
U.S. Bank Shield Visa Card - No SUB. Offers 0% APR for the first 24 billing cycles on purchases and balance transfers.
Wells Fargo Reflect Card - No SUB. Offers 0% APR for the first 21 months on purchases and balance transfers made in the first 120 days after opening your account.
No
You can make purchases on the Best Buy Visa card anywhere Visa is accepted. You will not have a payment plan on those purchases outside of Best Buy. And you will not have 0% interest on any purchases. Your monthly credit card statement shows your card's interest rate.
There are plenty of cash back credit cards that offer 0% APR for the first 12 months; and a few give 0% APR up to 18, months, or 21 months, or 24 months.
So I plan on buying a laptop that’s $2000, and I wanted to open a credit card so I can get the 10% back. But do they give you the gift card immediately or do you have to wait for it. I was wondering because I wanted to use the gift card to purchase the extended warranty. If anyone knows please let me know . Thanks in advance
Someone getting a G65?
Also save up a little more and treat yourself to something else with the certificates. We unfortunately can't apply them to the warranty since it will be beyond return policy when they're issues. Typically it's 15 days though.
Yeah I’m getting the GS65 lol. You’re right I’ll just buy other gift cards or something else.

Hilton cards are offering pretty solid offers for low spend
If you don't like Hilton, just find a 2% card with a $200 SUB
Sorry for the post edit, I just found the rules post on how these should be structured.
If you're just starting out. Any base m2/3/4 with 16gb should be fine. They are all fast. That said, skip the air and go for a 14" pro from a third party like Amazon or Best Buy. Usbank Altitude Connect is a great card if you can get approved. Amex Blue Cash everyday. Wells Fargo autograph. All great no annual fee options. All 3 offer 0% APR and are useful outside of the bonus. Also check the apple edu store and refurb store for deals.
does Best Buy have a credit card
Key Considerations about Best Buy Credit Card:
Types of Cards: Best Buy offers two types of credit cards:
Rewards Program: Both cards offer rewards on purchases:
Promotional Financing: Best Buy often provides promotional financing options, such as no interest if paid in full within a certain period (e.g., 6, 12, or 18 months) on qualifying purchases.
Annual Fees: There are no annual fees for either card, which is a plus.
Credit Score Requirement: Approval typically requires a good to excellent credit score.
Recommendation: If you frequently shop at Best Buy and want to take advantage of rewards and financing options, applying for the Best Buy Credit Card could be beneficial. However, if you prefer flexibility in where you can use your card, consider the Best Buy Visa Card. Always read the terms and conditions carefully to understand interest rates and fees associated with the card.
