Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Gameplay Tips

Understanding Lore and Character Scaling

While not directly related to gameplay, understanding the lore can enhance your experience. The Tarnished, for example, is given as many tries as needed due to grace, which can be seen as a gameplay mechanic allowing multiple attempts at bosses [1:1]. This reflects the game's design where persistence is key to overcoming challenges. Familiarizing yourself with character scaling and lore might provide insights into enemy strengths and weaknesses.

Comedy and Lighthearted Approach

Elden Ring, like other Soulsborne games, incorporates elements of comedy and slapstick humor, which can make the gameplay experience more enjoyable [2:3]. Embracing this aspect can help alleviate frustration during difficult sections. The manga adaptation even highlights this comedic angle, suggesting that humor is an integral part of the Elden Ring universe [2:10].

Achievement Strategies

For players aiming to complete all achievements in Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and the Souls trilogy, maintaining focus and sanity is crucial [3:1]. Some players have found themselves hallucinating item drops after extensive play sessions [3:2]. Setting realistic goals and taking breaks can help manage the intensity of these challenging games.

Community Creations and Customization

The community often creates custom content inspired by Elden Ring, such as custom frames for cards or proxies [4:1]. Engaging with these creative projects can offer new perspectives on the game and inspire unique approaches to gameplay. Additionally, participating in community forums can provide valuable tips and tricks shared by fellow players.

Gameplay Mechanics and Design Insights

Exploring different UI designs and inventory management systems can offer insights into optimizing gameplay [5:1]. Understanding how resources are managed and displayed can improve efficiency during battles and exploration. Experimenting with different setups can lead to discovering what works best for your playstyle.

In summary, while direct gameplay tips for "Shadow of the Erdtree" were not specifically discussed, the broader themes and insights from the Elden Ring community can still contribute to enhancing your overall experience. Consider exploring lore, embracing the comedic aspects, setting achievement goals, engaging with community creations, and optimizing resource management for a well-rounded approach to playing Elden Ring.

Yeahhh, Tarnished is just built absurdly different

In the lore the dawg is given as many tries as they need because of grace ….which sounds hella annoying if you’re a boss

My longstanding stance is that Soulsborne games are slapstick comedies where you're the one having the slapstick done to you, I have laughed more playing them than I have playing most comedy games

The manga being a comedy is just more evidence that I'm right

Custom Frame: Elden Ring - Inventory UI | Elden Ring - Boss Fight

Posted by Mallgoran · in r/magicproxies · 5 days ago

Hey folks ! Here is my last custom frame project I made. Elden Ring is here, coming in two variant ! The first one I named "Inventory UI" is made for artifact cards while the second one, "Boss Fight" is made for Legendary creature or any other epic beast you may see fit. I had a lot of fun designing these and I do keep refining the details to push the render to the best I can do. Hope you'll like those frames & proxies !

MPC-Ready cards:
-Inventory UI frame: Sol Ring; Mox Amber; Krark's Thumb.
-Boss Fight: Old Gnawbone; Ebondeath, Dracolich; Inferno of the Star Mounts; Icingdeath, Frost Tyrant; Twinflame Tyrant; Tiamat.

Take care, happy proxying !

But I do think card frames are designed by WotC's own artist team who also works onto visual development, concept art & more. Still, I'm having fun making my stuff and share it to the community :)

These frames look awesome! When doing custom frames, do you prefer to load into a designer for templating or do you literally Photoshop each individual card?

1 upvotes on reddit
Mallgoran · OP · 5 days ago

Thank you alot ! I'm glad you like 'em ! I directly go into Ps and hand-make everything so I have full control of every visual render part of my frames to the very pixel and make each individual card here. I setup my PS files so I have everything sorted in a patern so I mainly have to import & edit text, hand-paint art extend if needed, or whatever special misc. my frame do have that changes from one card to another :)

I’d like to see the “Inventory UI” as just a general frame, with “item effect” removed and icons for the different card types. The icon’s color could be the color of the card.

I like the idea and think the mana symbols look better vertically

2 upvotes on reddit
Mallgoran · OP · 5 days ago

Glad you think that way, my goal here was to replace the in-game ressources bar HUD with the mana pips. The generic mana pip taking place of the square-like shape and the colored mana pip taking the health, stamina and mana bar placements. I did stack them vertically to fit the in-game looks and I do like them that way too :) I made the horizontal variant for those who would like the classic pips placement more.

Do I NG+ or not before shadow of the erdtree?

Posted by Quizzoli · in r/Eldenring · 6 days ago

I recently played through elden ring for the first time after getting into it through nightreign, and I’ve enjoyed fighting all the bosses at their recommended level n I don’t want to end up overleveled going into SOTE. Should I go into the DLC in basic NG with my Elden lord title or is it a better experience to go into it with the slight ng+ difficulty bump to balance out the fact I’m over level 150. Ignore stats I’m going to renalla before starting again lol.

The DLC has a separate scaling mechanic for damage and defense, so level matters truthfully a lot less. With the build you have, you'll be fine. I'd actually recommend against going into the DLC on NG+ considering you'll just be making it harder for no reason.

21 upvotes on reddit
ryan0585 · 6 days ago

This. I played SotE on NG+ and NG and NG was considerably easier, TBH. Those were on play throughs 4 and 5 so I had overcome the early skill issue. I will say, I explored almost the entire map the second time around in the DLC before going into the mid and late game bosses, but even the comparably leveled bosses were quite different on the difficulty scale.

Go into the DLC before NG+ trust me. It's scaled differently so it won't be too easy and you won't have to play through a second NG+ if you want to get multiple of one item in the DLC

20 upvotes on reddit
_Prairieborn · 6 days ago

At very least, if you started NG+, you'd have to clear 60% of the game again in order to access the DLC. I'd recommend heading into it in NG.

Don't worry about overleveling. When the DLC came out we have lots of folks getting into SOTE with LVL200+ build and still getting two shot. The Scadutree blessing system will give you a unique scaling for damage and defense so what matters is really the blessing level instead of just a few soul levels.

its the good old ultra defensive fans, they dont like facts being shown except when they are positive,

no matter how powerful your hardware will be, most devs will overtune graphical features, because graphics sells better than a perfect framerate,

when people see breath of the wild running sub 30fps, calling it game of the generation, instead of being critical about performance,
so devs dont need to focus on the most important thing on a presentation,

this have been the standard for console games for over 30 years, because people keep rewarding it

> this have been the standard for console games for over 30 years, because people keep rewarding it

Almost like fans care about an overall experience and the super precious “if my FPS drops for even a second it’s unplayable” crowd are just a loud minority?

We’ve had video games and been enjoying them a very long time now and there’s always some people screeching about something or other while everyone else just goes and enjoys the fucking games.

Will Elden Ring be decent on the switch? Dunno. Personally I don’t overly care because I already have it on PC and don’t feel the need to buy it again, but I’m positive plenty of people will and enjoy it.

This "now that the hardware can actually manage it" is a false misconception based on how much marketing was done to push a heavily truncated Cyberpunk 2077. While they did a decent job, there was so much more that should have been done to optimize it even better.

That was mainly a PC game. So is Hogwarts, SW Outlaws, Borderlands 4. As well as other high end games that were catered to more powerful consoles like Elden Ring. Yet Switch 2 is a handheld device that simply will not run such games close to full capacity. So no the hardware cannot handle such games as if ported with some optimization.

The other two consoles are based on PC processors. Switch is based on mobile processing. Yes it is quite advanced. But not on the level of PC. A more realistic interpretation would be that devs actually put the effort into making lower end versions of such games for Switch 2. There should be no expectation of the same high end games with nothing not than basic optimization. Especially when CP 2077 was and still is not as clean a port as it could have been.

Bottom line. Those games ported into Switch 2 shouldn't be expected to be fully the same game. Yes there is lots of potential for great handheld games to be made for Switch 2. Just like many that were made for 3DS. Devs should really be reworking their games effectively.

Fortnite is an exemplary model that others should be looking at. It was a hugely successful game that invested into a version for mobile. It's pretty mind boggling to think of that game functioning on mobile from years ago. And it also happens to offer a well functioning port for Switch 2. It's because they invested into reworking it for mobile. Which is more like what these other third party devs should be working on when considering releasing on Switch 2. While it does use some innovative that PS5 didn't originally have, it is still a mobile console not on the level of a typical 'desktop' console.

I personally think the whole argument is so overblown. People are going to play the game regardless if they wanted to play it no matter the FPS and some aren’t going to play it regardless because they don’t want to play at 30fps or lower or have other options to play it. I don’t know why people waste so much time trying to convince people whose minds are already made up about something.

-3 upvotes on reddit
P
PineappleOnPizzaWins · 6 days ago

Yep pretty much this.

I don’t have a problem with people saying they don’t like something about a game, but god it’s annoying when other people say “I don’t agree/its not an issue/it doesn’t bother me” and suddenly it’s “glazing”, “boot licking”, and otherwise “defending these massive companies.

For example I’m not going to pretend Donkey Kong was anything but fantastic start to finish just because someone wants to complain about it. I had fun, I wasn’t bothered by lag, I wasn’t overstimulated, I didn’t find it repetitive or boring or whatever other complaint they want to go with.

I’m sure Elden Ring will have some compromises, and I’m sure some people will love it anyway while others lose their minds at the thought of someone else enjoying something they don’t like.

Sekironun animesini pek sevmedim şuanlık ama Elden ring filmini güzel yaparlarsa yani uğraşırlarsa baya güzel olcak gibi. Çünkü elden ringin evreni gerçekten çok güzel detaylara dikkatini verince gerçekten uğraşılmış olduğunu görüyorsun. Mesela bir örnek vereyim: oyundaki yarasalar çok güzel şarkı söylüyodu hatta bazen savaşmayıp birkaç saniye dinliyodum. Merak edip araştırdım çevirisini buldum. Şarkı latinceymiş ve oyunun hikayesindeki bazı noktalara değiniyormuş
