Overview of Features
Lenovo Vantage is a utility software designed to enhance the user experience on Lenovo devices by providing easy access to system settings and updates. It offers features such as warranty information, driver updates, and various system settings adjustments [3:1]. Users can manage thermal modes, hybrid mode, conservation mode, and quick charge settings through Vantage, which are not available through Windows settings alone
[3:4].
Customization and Performance Settings
Lenovo Vantage allows users to customize their device settings for optimal performance and convenience. For instance, users can adjust battery charging thresholds to prolong battery life, switch Fn and Ctrl keys, and enable or disable "Always On" USB ports depending on their needs [5:4],
[5:6]. The app also provides options to disable the webcam and microphone for privacy concerns
[5:4].
Driver and BIOS Updates
One of the key benefits of Lenovo Vantage is its ability to simplify driver and BIOS updates. This feature saves time compared to manually updating through the Windows Device Manager, making it a valuable tool for maintaining system stability and security [3:1],
[3:5].
Changes and Limitations
Some users have noted that recent versions of Lenovo Vantage may have fewer features compared to older versions. For example, certain hotkey functions and battery meter options might be missing in newer iterations [2:2],
[2:4]. Additionally, there are concerns about potential bloatware and spyware within the application, leading some users to seek alternatives like the Lenovo Legion Toolkit
[2:5],
[4:1].
Alternatives and Community Support
For those looking for alternatives to Lenovo Vantage, the Lenovo Legion Toolkit is mentioned as a less bloated option that still provides essential settings management [4:1]. Users seeking further assistance with Lenovo Vantage settings can also turn to online communities and forums for support and advice
[4:2].
Got around to benchmarking my newish laptop today. Just played with features available in Lenovo Vantage so I’m not sure how optimized it was.
similar to my HP Omen. Nooooice
Hey fellow ThinkPad(ers)...

So, as I've recently reinstalled my T450s, I had to reinstall Lenovo Vantage from the Windows Store. It just so happens that in comparison with an older version that I had before reinstalling, it seems that many features were gone!

I always put the battery meter in my Windows Task Bar, and on the older versions, by just clicking on it once, it gave me an array of options, such as disabling trackpad, camera, wifi, dolby atmos, to name a few.

Now that i've reinstalled it, all I can see is that there are options for the mic, camera and eye rest???

All the cool dolby atmos options are gone... So is my sound quality..

Anyone else saw this happen?
I can’t find the battery meter option either, and I searched high and low for that.
Device, My Device Settings. Everything is in there. Took me a while to figure out the new layout.
I believe mine is missing some options from previous versions as well but I can't recall what's missing besides the hot key/function key features. I'm on an X1 Yoga Gen.2.
Those are the ones I miss the most.
All the versions I tried were full of spyware. So never installed.
You can install the enterprise version which afaik is basically the old version.
Please guide how to install, I downloaded it from the link someone commented in this sub, but can't find the installer inside the zip file
Unsure how, I've never done it.
Can't find the battery gauge reset button and gone for win7 for a while to use Power Manager.
Hi, I always like to totally debloat my laptop and remove any software that is not necessary, so referring only to the performace aspect of Vantage (Thermal Modes), does Vantage do anything that can't be achieved through Windows' advanced power options?
Lenovo vantage is a good tool for me
you guys dont need vantage, just install Legion Toolkit and there you go
Yes. Hybrid mode, thermal performance mode, conservation mode, and quick charge all do things that can't be achieved through Windows settings alone. I would recommend keeping it.
what are all of those?
They're setting that you can use to tinker with to help your computer perform better or reduce wear on the important pieces of the computer.
Thanks very much
Update bios and system drivers, I think best to keep it unless you know how to do it manually.
Yes. Definitely keep it for three reasons:
My laptop is brand new and I love it. I also love the minimal bloatware it came with and overall setup has been smooth. I will not be playing games on my machine. I will be using it for media upload and download as well as browsing the web. Multitasking will be my main reason for this question. I've noticed settings in the vanced app that may or may not benefit me. Which of settings should I change to boost performance?
I'll give you the specs on my machine
INTEL I5 11400 RTX 3060 16 GB DDR 4 500 GB SSD
I'm vantage app Thermal Mode says Balanced
Hybrid mode is ON Overdrive is OFF WiFi Security is ON (I have security through my router already so is this needed through vantage?)
Keeping in mind what I'm using it for and I've not put any intensive multitasking on it but will be what do you recommend??
Thanks and humbled to be here in this sub

I uninstalled Vantage and just use Lenovo Legion ToolKit. Least bloatware possible, only has settings I care about.
I just downloaded that. One thing I noticed it gets wrong is that vantage allows for the touchpad to disable when launching specified games or apps. This one just has a toggle that only disables it when you hit the toggle, which is unfortunate. I hope the dev catches that miss at some point. Other than that, this is a great alternative to vantage.
My legion has an FN key shortcut to disable/enable the touchpad
New owner of an X1 Carbon 6th gen here. What are some recommended Lenovo Vantage settings? I've switched the Fn and Ctrl keys and set the battery to charge between 75% and 80% while plugged in. What other things should I check out for optimal convenience, performance, or longevity?
There should be a faster way to change the battery charging threshold when you want to turn off or on
Agreed. It's annoying to have to start lenovo vantage and go to that setting every time. Is there a system tray option for that?
As far as I know, there is not. If someone knows, I really wish to know
Hopefully this isn't as stupid a question as it feels like, but what's a "Lenovo Vantage setting"?
It’s an app that manages some settings like battery/ keyboard and stuff
Ah. I think the one that came on mine was called something different... "Lenovo Center" or something like that? I used it to update the BIOS then it went away along with the Windows installation.
I should look around to see if they offer a similar app for Linux. I assume not, though.
Always on port should be off for battery saving and on if you need the convenience. I disable the webcam be default along with the mic.
Yup, thats the 'new and improved' version of vantage that is actually worse in every way compared to the old one. You can remove it if you feel like going through the trouble and installing the old version (you can find it if you google for the enterprise version), that one still has all the features and is still fully functional.
I second this. The new vantage app that is distributed via the Windows store has lost a lot of useful functionality, but gained a shitload of ads and new 'features'. I'd recommend the 'enterprise' version: https://support.lenovo.com/de/en/solutions/hf003321
Enterprise in this case just means, it doesn't violate corporate privacy and doesn't distract their employees.
>Enterprise in this case just means, it doesn't violate corporate privacy and doesn't distract their employees.
If you just install the packaged program you will end up with the exact same version that consumers used to get, the difference lies in the supplied documentation and registry keys to disable consumer features or change settings that are unwanted in corporate environments. I can highly recommend you make use of just about all of these registry tweaks or at the very least the one that disables the auto-update or you will be back at the 'new and improve vantage' before you know it.
Hello.. just bought a Lenovo Legion 5i recently and I'm having an issue with the backlight.
The option to change the backlight is not appearing on Lenovo Vantage. I already reinstalled the app/ reset and still no luck..
Any solutions?

Try Pressing “Fn” + “spacebar” see if it change
By dafualt it is having a Christmas light RGB feels.. basically I have RGB (since it is coloring and changing)
But the problem is I can't control it.
Tried using the FN spacebar.. it doesn't change the lighting nor turning it off
If the RGB option does not appear in lenovo vantage it means your laptop does not come with them. Look back at your order and see specs if you see "White Back lit keys" then your laptop does not change colour beyond the three white brightness options.

Your next best option is to call them or use their online chat, they can do this thing where you can give them the ability to control your laptop remotely and they can install the drivers that's causing your RGB keyboard to not work. If that doesn't work and your laptop is in warranty they replace the entire keyboard. It happened to me before
Yes the RGB option
I have a pro 7i 2024 model and I don’t think I have the brightness option either. Are you talking about the RGB options? Can you clarify?
Hi everyone! Yesterday I had to format my Legion Y540. Then I installed all the stuff and drivers via Windows Update. Got Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store and opened it but there was no gaming features, and Hybrid Mode; it was full of advertisements.
I know, there has been similar questions about Vantage and Hybrid mode before mine but this laptop came to me in March from repair, after the opening date of most of the topics mentioning this. I was able to use these functions after a clean Windows installation I did after repair. So I thought Lenovo had solved that problem. I told this because I think it may be a different problem. By the way, I can reach hybrid graphics option from BIOS, unlike the others.
What I’ve tried so far:
-Reflashing the BIOS, version of BHCN36WW.
-Installing the Vantage and gaming features from Lenovo drivers website. This version of Vantage even didn’t start up.
-Removing/Installing Vantage and restarting the PC again and again.
I’m waiting for your suggestions, thanks in advance!
I’ve sent a log to Lenovo employee on Lenovo Forums and he told me that the model number on my mainboard is wrong, or maybe the mainboard is wrong; so Vantage does not detect it as gaming laptop.
Several months ago I sent it to service because of the common Hybrid Mode - black screen issues and they changed the motherboard. It’s really funny that where as my black screen problem still has been not even solved with a motherboard replacement, now I also have a wrong motherboard (or motherboard with wrong number on it) on my laptop. In other words, I’ve sent it with an issue and returned with two issues one of which is new!
To be honest, I regret my choice for sending it to repair and of course my choice for Lenovo. Guys, I’ve bought that laptop from an another country. The reason for that is the prices in my country are extremely high. In Germany it was 2/3 of that price so I’ve bought from there. At least it was a little bit more affordable.
Another thing, I’ve bought that laptop for my university studies. The repair process took for me about 3-4 months because I’ve given it to my relative which lives in Germany to send it to repair. He brought when he came back. It’s that long because of these transportation things. I couldn’t send it directly because in my country, customs usually impound expensive electronical devices. Whatever, during that repair time I needed a laptop and tried to carry on my studies on a potato laptop. That’s why I got bored of these service repair things and the problems I’ve experienced.
Sorry to talk too much, but wanted to pour out. I’m able to use my PC of course with some misfunctions. I had used a mid-end Samsung PC, which was way more cheaper, without any trouble for 8 years but it’s not been a year with that Lenovo yet and already tons of problems...
Edit: That’s the topic of the other problem I’ve experienced. https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/f7bkh5/lenovo_legion_y540_screen_issues/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Did u try the Lenovo recovery USB?
I’ve updated the topic. They say mainboard issue.
It's normal, it takes 2-3 days of windows update n vantage gets refreshed with all features unlocked. It was same when I received my new y540. Install vantage beta from Microsoft store.
Unfortunately, it's still not updated.
Go to device manager, display adapter, see intel display adapter installed or any exclamation
I’m waiting. Thanks for the answer.
Is the problem solved now?
There is diagnosing of the various hardware or software. They seem to want to sell you a subscription to do that while the MyAcer app does it all for free. Also there is no battery life extension option like there was before where it would only let the battery charge partially (somewhere around 50-80% I think) to increase the longevity of the battery.
They basically removed the main two things it was useful for toe the 7x:
Oh yeah the driver updates is gone too. It makes me think that I should just remove it because now it's just bloat ware collecting data. Also, I tried to install Lenovo Commercial Vantage but it doesn't work. Lenovo System Update seems to install and search for drivers but since there was no driver updates, I'm not 100% sure it works for this model. https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht037099-download-thinkvantage-technologies-administrator-tools
After reading your comment I am definitely going to uninstall this.
Same thing here. Vantage is just exaggerating, nothing to worry about.
