TL;DR To update drivers using Lenovo Vantage, ensure the app is installed and functioning correctly. Check for updates within Vantage regularly, but also consider manual checks on Lenovo's official support site if updates seem infrequent.
Using Lenovo Vantage for Updates
Lenovo Vantage is designed to provide driver updates alongside system updates. However, users have reported varying experiences with its effectiveness. Some users suggest reinstalling the application if updates are not appearing as expected [1:1]. It's important to check the settings in Vantage to ensure it's configured to receive updates properly.
Manual Driver Updates
For those who find Lenovo Vantage sluggish or lacking in updates, manually checking Lenovo's official support site can be a reliable alternative. By entering your device's serial number, you can access and download all available driver updates directly [3:2]
[4:1]. This method ensures you have the latest drivers even if Vantage misses some updates.
Alternative Tools and Methods
Some users prefer using other tools like the Lenovo Legion Toolkit for more efficient updates [3:3]. Additionally, Snappy Driver has been recommended as a safe third-party tool for updating drivers
[4:4]. These alternatives may offer a more streamlined experience compared to manually updating through Device Manager.
Common Issues and Solutions
There have been instances where Vantage reports a driver as installed when it isn't. This is typically due to package issues that prevent proper installation tracking [5:1]. If this occurs, users can try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver manually or using the trash icon feature in Vantage to reset the installation status
[5:2].
Considerations Beyond Vantage
While Lenovo Vantage is a useful tool, regular manual checks on Lenovo's support site can complement its functionality. Additionally, exploring other software solutions for driver updates might provide better results depending on individual needs and preferences.
Have had a Yoga laptop for about 3 years now. I get periodic updates from Windows Update. I'm supposed to get pushed software and driver updates through Lenovo Vantage. In 3 years, Advantage has only pushed 1 Intel WLAN update and 6 BIOS updates. Where are the updates for the rest of the peripherals? You can't tell me that there are no updates for any of my other drivers for the past 3 years. Any insight as to what's going on is much appreciated.
/u/buffouston Hey there! We're sorry for the late response. Just to check, did you change any settings, or upgrade the Window OS on the Yoga? Have you tried uninstalling the Lenovo vantage app and reinstall it back? Could you check the Lenovo vantage app https://lnv.gy/3wpzXb7 again and check for a system update? Kindly update us back. Thank you for reaching our support! -Chris_Lenovo
Hi guys
Our notebook fleet is Lenovo only. Some T14, some L14. We deploy drivers through Intune.
Typical use case:
User calls service desk and says he cannot connect to the beamer in the meeting room. Service desk agent installs Lenovo Vantage and searches for updates. There are about 10-15 drivers ready to install. In Windows Update there are no drivers offered. Afterwards it works.
Service desk says, "hey please deploy Lenovo Vantage on all machines, so they get the latest driver updates". I am thinking about turning off driver updates in Intune and deploy Vantage.
Any arguments against doing this?
So I deploy Lenovo commercial vantage through intune, and I additionally deploy the Lenovo admx settings catalog which allows me to set all required and recommended updates as mandatory installs. It took me a while to figure out how to do it, but now that it's done it works flawlessly. If anyone needs some help, I can leave a guide.
down for the Guide.. maybe a new post.. I 've been loading Lenovo System Updater as you can pull it via Winget. Most Lenovo applications are in Winget now .. all but Vantage. Hopefully they will add to the MS Store at some point.
Lenovo have a guide
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/hf003321-lenovo-vantage-for-enterprise
The ADMX settings are pretty clear too.
We use Lenovo Commercial Vantage with the custom ADMX config. The only downside we've seen is that the Vantage update process isn't as user-friendly as the MS process. If you have mandatory installs for critical updates, the user gets a forced pop-up that says "your computer will reboot in 5 mins, save your work." MS process waits for the next reboot to finish installation with reminders. But we found that Vantage was the only reliable way to get updated drivers so it's worth it.
We did the same with Dell Command Update - driver install via WUfB is dogshit
We are using hp in our org with 10k+ devices and faced simmilar issues. Now we have deployed hp driver update software to the whole fleet and scheduled a task to force driver checks on regular intervals. Now we are reaching 90% of devices having latest drivers.
Can you share what you have done for your HP driver updates? We are an HP shop and looking to implement something like this
Yup interested here as well
Can u share ur intune configuration for this? We came as far as pushing the hp support assistant to every device with succes but upon opening it gave an error saying its missing some files and it needs to be reinstalled.
Without seeing your Intune config, nobody can really help you with this.
You're probably conflating Windows Update with Microsoft Update, which often leads to mismatched expectations when it comes to driver servicing.
Windows Update
Microsoft Update
That said, OEMs like Lenovo often don't publish their latest or full driver set to Microsoft Update - especially for new models, niche components, or BIOS/firmware updates. Lenovo Vantage queries Lenovo’s own update catalog directly, bypassing Microsoft entirely, which explains why it finds additional drivers that Windows/Microsoft Update doesn't.
Additional Note: Driver Update Rings in Intune
Intune actually supports Driver Update Rings, which let you:
You can go to Lenovo website and put your device serial number to manually download updates of all drivers.
Thank you for the info, I got to know that from somebody else too but vantage used to be easily accessible for that, I was wondering why isn’t it doing that anymore
You can switch to Lenovo legion toolkit if you find Vantage sluggish.
Through pcsupport.lenovo.com you can update manually.
I get update this month.. butt suddenly I am getting no updates i mean I got a update on this month first i reset it that's when I download all update but after that I am getting no updates it's unusual like we will get small updates i am not getting that Even checked yesterday..( i got updates before this reset i have the new version then . But so many people like you getting no updates after December ) for me it's like this it's unusual cuz using for 2 year we know the update pattern and times !!
Exactly, there used to be tiny updates very often in each month, it’s lil concerning that I haven’t got a single update since December
and yes, i uninstalled>restarted>reinstalled and still no change.
It's better to check the updates on official lenovos site as I also feels that vantage sometimes misses updates and that's why I prefer mannual checking in a week on the website.
Hi everyone! Just got my Legion 5i a few days ago. Are there any easy ways of performing driver updates? Instead of opening device manager and manually updating one by one?
Lenovo Vantage
I had tried looking in Vantage but could only find system updates. Not the drivers
As far as I know it is the same thing? I remember updating a driver using it. You should also get Geforce Experience for the gpu.
Do not use Easy Driver or Driver Booster both are unsafe and unreliable, the safest thing to use is Snappy Driver..
Thank you!!
The manufacturer support site, like almost every other piece of computer hardware, is where you need to go. You can get to it by following the link in the Vantage software. You can also go here:
Make sure you confirm your model and change if necessary.
The trash icon on the right side is for this purpose.
sometimes this happens, dont worry about it. Its some issue in the package that doesnt allow Vantage to distinguish whether it has already been installed or not. No biggie
I despise this app. They claimed they read the comments and suggestions, but then only came up with this over engineered web app advertising bloatware, allegedly fixing 3000+ bugs, lmao. So what are the alternatives?
The new version of Vantage sucks big time! Fortunately you can go back to the previous version, which is much better, especially if you use the registry mods to disable the "consumer features". I just did that today.

Lenovo System update?
Manually browsing the Lenovo Support site?
Lenovo System Update? https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds012808
You can also go on the Lenovo support page for your model and sort and filter by release date. That way all the recent updates float to the top.
This.
The only other useful thing Vantage does is to set the battery charge threshold in case you are on AC a lot. This can easily be done using this simple utility.
Everything else is either a duplicate of some Windows 10 system functionality or ads.
To the OP u/chimp73, if you are concerned about bloat but you still want to use Vantage, at the very least install the enterprise edition and disable all the consumer features.
In the old times when Thinkpads were thick, heavy and beautiful we have been doing all of this manually. It keeps brain cells happier.
Uhm...no. System update has been a thing for a long, long time.
If you want to have a full control on whats installed on your laptop or what is running in the background etc you don't leave anything for autoupdates apps or anything similar. You do these things yourself just like wiping your bottom or doing your shoelaces. Only THEN you know what you are dealing with. For 'default settings users' this may be a bit challenging, uhm ...
Agreed, allows for cleaner and more precise updating. Also makes troubleshooting easier.
Hi Team,
I have been having some issues with LENOVO VANTAGE app. I have set it to "Auto update" for CRITICAL and RECOMMENDED updates, but it never take them automatically. Due to this, we are constantly having some kind of functionality/connection issues. We have almost 100 Lenovo machines, and almost everyday users reach me about some kind of issues, and all I do is perform those updates manually.
I would really appreciate your suggestions, comments and help to fix this issue. Also, I would like to get these updates done automatically.
A) Are you using commercial Vantage?
B) Have you pushed out settings via GPO?
You can download the whole package here : https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/solutions/hf003321-lenovo-vantage-for-enterprise
It has a deployment guide within.
I noticed half of the machine have LENOVO VANTAGE, and some have LENOVO COMMERCIAL VANTAGE. They all have AUTO UPDATE feature on, still we have to manually update them.
Turn off auto updates from critical updates in Lenovo Vantage. It does tend to mess up stuff most of the time.
Update manually as much as you can.
So I assume not to update the bios and amd driver in this photo? I rolled back the amd drivers but when I try to find the r7 6800hs creator edition cpu on their website it only shows r7 6800h.
The last bios update from Lenovo broke the touchpad functionality for some laptops, so I would advice against updating now.
i had so many problems with windows update intalling wrong gpu drivers always get those update from amd website
I install every production update.
If you get a keyboard update : DON'T.
why
return it and buy an Intel
I chose amd because I wanted a longer battery life.
so they get poor battery life and permanent fan activation thanks to the 12th gen arch?
hey guys! where can i check that notification in the vantage app? I cant find it anywhere within the app and it seems that all my drivers are up to date.
It doesn't go away until you buy their shit.
What shit is that notification usually connected to?
Vantage scanned my device automatically, but you can't see the results of the scan until you buy their subscription. After the scan that notification has been there since.
Revo uninstaller freeware and its fixed
Legion is supposed to fix that with an update.
Delete Vantage and use the Lenovo legion tool kit from GitHub.
This is expected. I have a Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 with RTX 4090 GPU and i9-13900HX CPU.
The updated Lenovo Vantage UI on all Legions prior to Gen 10 look like this.
The new Legion Space is only for Gen 10 onwards.
All is good from UI standpoint on your laptop. No worries!
I think you misunderstood me, the concern isn’t about the UI looks, I haven’t got updates on vantage(check the pic, like driver updates for speakers or something) since i updated to this UI, I got no updates of any minor fixes on vantage app
I see. That’s strange although for me those exact options last update is dated April 2025.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with your issue man.
