Overview of Lenovo Vantage
Lenovo Vantage is a software application designed to help users manage and optimize their Lenovo devices. It provides access to various features such as performance settings, driver updates, warranty tracking, and more [4:1]. While it comes pre-installed on many Lenovo laptops, its functionality can vary depending on the specific model and generation of the device
[1:1],
[4:2].
Driver and Firmware Updates
One of the primary functions of Lenovo Vantage is to assist with updating drivers and firmware. The software pulls from both Windows and Lenovo data sets to ensure that your system has the necessary updates [2:1],
[2:2]. However, some users have reported issues with missing drivers, requiring manual downloads from the Lenovo support site
[2:5],
[2:6].
Performance Utilities and Settings
Vantage includes performance utilities that allow users to adjust various settings on their laptops. For older models, most performance settings are found within Vantage, while newer models may also utilize Lenovo Space for additional features [4:1]. Some users have noted that Vantage can feel limited in functionality, especially when compared to older versions or alternative tools like the Legion Toolkit
[3:12],
[5:1].
Alternative Tools
For those seeking more detailed information and control over their device, the Legion Toolkit is an alternative to Vantage. It offers more settings and options, such as shortcut actions and thermal mode adjustments, which some users find beneficial [5:1],
[5:3]. Additionally, some users prefer using Lenovo System Update for a less bloated experience when managing drivers and firmware updates
[2:4].
Installation and Compatibility
Before installing Lenovo Vantage, it's important to check whether your device supports the software. This can typically be determined by visiting your model's support page on the Lenovo website [1:1]. For Gen 10 Lenovo laptops, both Vantage and Space can be installed without conflict, though some users choose to use only one to avoid potential overlap
[4:2],
[4:4].
In summary, Lenovo Vantage is a versatile tool for managing your Lenovo device, but its effectiveness can vary based on your specific needs and device model. Exploring alternative tools and ensuring compatibility can enhance your experience with Lenovo's software offerings.
Are there any applications or software on Lenovo computers that allow me to access the device's features (fan modes, CPU and GPU analysis, and similar features) ?
Yes many do, just about all of them are model specific though so check the support page for your specific laptop. A Legion for example will use very different software than a ThinkPad.
Thanks for this information, chatgpt suggested me "Lenovo Vantage". Do you know that program ?
Yes vantage is one of the software applications that works on some models. Like i said, it will not work on all lenovos. Just go to your models support page and stop beating around the bush with reddit posts and chatgpt this information is readily available from lenovo.
I have a new machine which I am going to wipe clean. I normally go to the support page for the machine and download drivers one by one.
Will Vantage just get everything I need automatically or does it only update drivers I've installed?
Thanks!
Windows update + Lenovo Vantage will give you everything, drivers, firmware, BIOS update, etc. The app will see the serial number and model number, then find out what you need.
Didn't end up working out that way .. had a bunch of missing shit in the Device Manager. Ended up going to the support site and manually doing them all which sucks because for like bluetooth there were 3 drivers and i have no idea which chipset, but whatever. No cautions left in the device manager.
Poorly.
I kid.
The other answer already given is a good one. Vantage pulls from both Windows and Lenovo data sets and queries your system to make sure you get everything you could use.
The only thing I've found really helpful is the battery health info. Use it or don't, it's hardly a necessity.

Windows should have found it all of it's not too cutting edge and recent. Sometimes, it's only in Vantage but it's pretty rare.
Running both is no harm and can only potentially help when needed.
Glad it's working for you.
For this I always use Lenovo System Update. The tool is not so overloaded and you still get the drivers and firmware updates.
So I just received my Y540 17 IRH a few days ago. The Vantage software seems of very limited use. When I read reviews, they said it was supposed to be pretty decent. There's nothing really useful that I can see. I can't even enable Optimus (also not available in the BIOS - GPU is greyed out/not selectable). Here's a screenshot of what my Vantage screen looks like... is it normal?

if your system is supported, try installing this: https://support.lenovo.com/il/en/solutions/hf003321
It's the older build with all of the original functionality and none of the newer version's garbage. That package also has the instructions on how to disable some of the unnecessary functionality in Vantage such as advertising, the WiFi security crap, and etc.
It was very good, with a lot of good functions including a battery reset one. Then they “upgraded” it and it's basically useless. There are older versions that can be downloaded from some websites.
It's too bad. The main concern I have is not being able to enable the Intel GPU for a bit longer battery life. Like what the heck Lenovo.
I have two of these laptops. Yes you can enable Intel, it's Hybrid mode. Setting shows up in BIOS and Vantage for me.
Np, hope it works well!
Read the instructions, there's a document in that file that should clarify how to install it and configure the group policy/registry edits.
i5 9300H, 1660ti, 17" 144hz
You sure it's not the 9300HF?
Mine looks just like that. I have the same model
Can you do hybrid mode?
Haven't tried but I think yes. It allows me to do so but haven't tried.
Thanks. Jeez that's a shame. I'm enjoying the laptop otherwise.
About the only thing I use in this regard is driver installation capability. This originates in the old suite (Think tools, Lenovo tools) but a lot of those are redundant nowadays since more and more features have migrated either in the OS (power management) or third party vendors (graphics driver software itself). Dual graphics machines have always been a PITA for me, and one of the main issues was getting the manufacturer driver for the model (which Vantage does perfectly), instead of discrete driver from video card manufacturer.
It is possible that features like the Hardware Scan software weren’t used so much (I never did back when it was available) and thus discontinued.
I’d like to point out though that not getting Vantage has resulted in a few bricked machines, the OS pushing BIOS updates wasn’t always a smart thing (I’ve seen about 6 machines rendered useless in the past two years).
Sorry if this is a simple question that I should know the answer to. I was looking through the Essential Setup & Check Guide and I don't know if I should install any of these programs or if my laptop supports them. (I have a Legion 5 Pro 16IAH7H)
Thanks!
Gen 10 means tenth generation, the current generation of certain Legion laptops.
Vantage is an app that comes in most Lenovo laptops and has performance utilities, tracks your warranty, etc. Most performance settings are in Vantage for laptops older than Gen 10, but it still comes in new Legions because it has some utilities that Space doesn't.
Space is another app that Lenovo introduced for Gen 10s that brings all performance/RGB/gaming utilities from Vantage in one app. It's more focused, still has a little bloat, but works just fine for me.
Toolkit is a third party tool created by someone to keep the utilities from Vantage without the bloat and to have more control. It's not official, I haven't tried it, but people here seem to love it and it must be for a reason.
Thanks.
How can I tell what generation is my laptop?
I imagine I should install only one of these apps otherwise they'll step on each other's toes, right?
It's on the model name: mine for example is a 16IAX10H, the 10 is for 10th gen. You can also Google, for example, Pro 5 Gen 8 or something and compare with yours.
Gen 10s come with both Vantage and Space, no conflict between them. Not sure Space is supported by previous gens, but from what I've seen the features are in Vantage anyways. As for Toolkit, people usually install it to get rid of Vantage/Space but IIRC you still need some software components from those apps.

How many of you use Legion Toolkit instead of Vantage? if you do, did you have any performance improvement? I heard there are performance issues in games due to Vantage

legion toolkit is much better than vantage imo as it shows more info and gives u option to have shortcut actions to do several tasks in one click like u can set a brightness percentage when only opening a certain app, along with changing thermal modes and many more
Im using LLT and tbh it wont affect the perfomance that much. But you got more setting and more information out of it. Vantage is likely a bloatware for me
Hey guys,
I just received my Legion 7 today, but unfortunately did a dumb thing where I wiped the internal disk. Long story short, I've had to reinstall all drivers and software, and I'm wondering how I can get the gaming component for Lenovo Vantage? I seem to have to "regular" version, but can't seem to get to the gaming component where it gives me visuals on CPU, Ram, fan controls, etc. Anyone know how I can get that? Is it called Vantage Edge?
Thanks in advance
Does something like that exist? I've only seen the one that has the network boost, hybrid toggle, and overdrive (or w/e it's called. Does that option actually help?)
Basically what I'm trying to get to are the graphics/interfaces shown on the legion website, like this. Instead, what I wind up is the default, or basic version of Vantage, and I can't figure out how to get to the said interfaces
I've never seen the version in the first picture of your link. I have the version in the second picture. Not much to control in it.
I don't think that exists. One of the worst things about my 7i (there aren't a lot), is that Vantage is super basic. It doesn't show anything of importance for gamers.
Please someone, prove me wrong lol
apologies with the confusion, I'm not tech savy enough to be able to describe what I'm trying to get at. Basically, I'm trying to access the graphics/interface shown here, from their Legion website, but when I download the driver from the support page and install from the Windows store, I just seem to get the "basic" version and can't figure out how to get the "game" side of things.
Whether or not the app itself is useful is a different question, but I'd like to try it out to see if I have any use for it :/
In the driver page under the software and utility tab there is a vantage service driver, try installing that first then the actual vantage
send pics of the "regular" version
This is what I mean by "regular" version, and I'm trying to get to game version
They are the same. The second one is just like the "home screen" of the app.

Still no taskbar battery widget on w11?
Taskbar based widgets are not possible with Windows 11, so this feature is dead
Aaaaaad I remove it after initial setup.
Why?
Eh, idk, don't like telemetries and I don't need to use vantage.
seems like Dolby options are removed?
They’re still there
Where exactly? I looked everywhere. But apparently I have Dolby Audio as a separate app now.
ARM64 now as well
It was fine, no need to change? Maybe make it faster and lighter?
Correct, there was nothing wrong with it. Just nice to see they actually spent the time and effort really.
Yeah, that was the change that was long overdue. Make a software that doesn't take a minute to launch and 10 seconds to load any page.
Edit: whoa, just tested the new Vantage on my work notebook and damn, this is fast as fuck. This is great. I love the new version!

Lenovo Vantage has no place on ThinkPads, ThinkPads should only be used with Lenovo Commercial Vantage
Lenovo Vantage has no place on ThinkPads, ThinkPads should only be used with Access IBM.
Wait, you're suggesting installing Commercial Vantage on a consumer/home machine?
ThinkPads are not consumer machines, whether they are used by a large organization or a single user. Commercial Vantage comes preinstalled on all ThinkPads, except for the E series, and there is zero reason to prefer Lenovo Vantage over it.
Commercial Vantage is perfectly fine to use even if you are a home user. Much less bloat. However it can only be installed on enterprise PCs like ThinkPad and ThinkCentre.
I've worked on IdeaPads and when you try to install Commercial Vantage it tells you to install the regular consumer version. Dunno if that's still the case.
Are they're any benefits for getting the commerical vantage over the regular one?
I still use the “consumer” version of vantage on all 3 of my Thinkpads. I had no idea there was a commercial version. Updates drivers and bios with no problems.
I've run vantage on a 2020 Legion gaming laptop and it was useful. Having said that, I hear that commercial vantage is better and I just installed the one on my X1 nano, but I'm not sure if it was the commercial variant...
Is your app icon blue or red? Blue is for Lenovo Vantage and red is Lenovo Commercial Vantage.
I use it to limit my battery charge to protect the battery and update drivers but that's about it
I still let install missing drivers for me for fresh installed windows machine, still works good for me
I accidently removed/ended the vantage icom from toolbar and i couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I reinstalled it. However, now its worse as so many options are missing (like the option where i can set the turbo mode on during charging etc). I also cannot let conservation mode as it keeps staying on rapid charge too. Its not showing my HDD in the he page either. I have a Legion 5 (Ryzen 5) and installed Vantage from Microsoft Store.

Have you installed all your drivers and software from the lenovo support site. Any missing drivers being highlighted in device manager
i'll check and try again. If its still not working i'll go for the toolkit recommended by the earlier comment.
I know that's not a fix for your Vantage problems, but maybe take a look at LenovoLegionToolkit, it does the same as Vantage but without the bloat and background services. I think it's way better.
https://github.com/BartoszCichecki/LenovoLegionToolkit/releases/tag/2.2.1
ohk thx! i'll check it out
hey guys! where can i check that notification in the vantage app? I cant find it anywhere within the app and it seems that all my drivers are up to date.
It doesn't go away until you buy their shit.
What shit is that notification usually connected to?
Vantage scanned my device automatically, but you can't see the results of the scan until you buy their subscription. After the scan that notification has been there since.
Legion is supposed to fix that with an update.
Revo uninstaller freeware and its fixed
Delete Vantage and use the Lenovo legion tool kit from GitHub.
