Haunted House Secrets
The Haunted House in the Golden Saucer section of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is packed with secrets that players might overlook. Some notable secrets include a statue that always looks at Cloud, a book that repeatedly falls off the shelf, and giant spiders on the ceiling that fall if you sit on the bed [1]. Additionally, there's an NPC who humorously claims she's about to turn into a zombie, adding to the eerie atmosphere
[1:3].
Submarine Exploration Opportunities
In Junon, there is a hint about a sunken city full of treasures, which could be explored using a submarine in future parts of the game [3]. While the original game had limited submarine activities, such as fighting Emerald Weapon and retrieving key items, the potential expansion of underwater exploration in Rebirth adds a layer of excitement for fans
[3:2]
[3:5].
NPC Side Stories and Hidden Details
Rebirth is rich with NPC side stories and hidden details that enhance the game's depth. For instance, NPCs' stories progress and change as the game advances, offering alternate versions in Zack's world where their dreams come true [5:4]. These intricate details provide a more immersive experience and reward players who take the time to explore every corner of the game.
References and Callbacks to Previous Games
Rebirth includes numerous references and callbacks to previous games, enriching the narrative for long-time fans. For example, Cissnei's quest features a callback to the "Language of Flowers" from Remake [5:1]. Additionally, small interactions, like Aerith's unique animations when mounting a Chocobo, showcase the developers' attention to detail
[5:5].
Speculations and Theories
Players have speculated about various elements within the game, such as whether Reeve is behind Stamp, a helpful marker in the Remake [5:8]. These theories add another layer of intrigue and encourage players to look for clues throughout the game. The presence of these mysteries keeps the community engaged and eager to uncover more secrets as they play.
Many people probably skipped the Haunted House secrets when cloud returned there by himself after getting sick. The Haunted House is located in the Golden Saucer section of the game. I hung around the house and documented all 10 secrets in this video: https://youtu.be/rp0MKL3drTw
Some of the secrets I found...
The statue on the table will always look at Cloud
The book will keep returning to the ground even if you put it back on the shelf
There are giant spiders on the ceiling
The walking footsteps outside of the room where Tifa is, is triggered by Cloud location
The mist ejecting from the pumpkin
The spiders above the bed actually fall down if u sit on the bed
I personally like the NPC that says to buy from her quickly because she's going to turn into a zombie. When you go back later in the game...
Imagine if she stood there in a hooded cloak repeating «Reunion…» during the second visit.
Not going to lie, the player experience in the golden saucer is some of the most impressive attention to detail and immersive RPG storytelling I’ve played in a long time
reopen the chest enough times for 1 Gold Saucer Point.
So, I'm playing through Final Fantasy VIII (doing the Remastered version on my Switch) for probably the tenth time since I first played it on the original PlayStation decades ago...
...and I just realized that when you are getting ready to put on the show at Fisherman's Horizon, you can 100% just leave the stage with Irvine, go back into Garden and get a ton of unique dialogue you wouldn't otherwise see. And even go see Squall asleep in his dorm.
Looking online, it's been known for a long time, but it's such a weird little easter-egg, I just never found it before. I never knew you could do that.
Anyone else make any "discoveries" like this on a second... third... fifth... tenth or more playthrough? Even if it's something that's fairly common knowledge, I think it's fun that I'm still finding things I didn't know about.
I have played this game +20 times and I don't think I will ever know everything there is to know about it.
If with Squall and Irvine earlier you went to the Grease monkey's house in Fisherman and found the Elite Soldier then if you go with Irvine alone you can go again and get some ammo rewards, including some Pulse Ammo which is the best one.
This is the sort of thing that 16 is missing. Just small things that people can discover decades later.
I'm still learning things about 7, even though I've been playing since launch. An 10 has a whole bunch of things like this. (For example, when you fall through the lake, Sin catches you. You're actually standing on Sin when you're under the lake).
Wow you mean Sin is just waiting underneath Macalania Lake? I always thought that lake was shallow + all players can now breathe underwater
Im not even sure if there is water under the ice in macalania. It could just be an empty pocket every sin rests at and listens to the songs until yu yeven takes control/drives them insane.
Fisherman's Horizon is a nest of secret scenes and dialogue! It's a fantastic area of the game.
On the gameplay perspective, I was amazed a few years after playing the game numerous times that there were A TON of rare drops from monsters that you kinda have to go out of your way to get. Many used to teach all kinds of abilities to GFs. Not game changing or anything, but I thought it was neat at the time.
I remember finding that one screen in Fisherman's Horizon for the first time like last year. Blew my mind. Really is the best area.
Raijin doesn't attack if only female characters are alive. However, if he's blinded, he will still attack.
There’s something similar in FF7 in the fight between the Turks and Tifa in your party, where one of them never attacks her.
"Ahhh... i just, I don't hit girls, ya know?"
To be fair, this only occurs if you haven't defeated Fujin yet. If he's alone, he'll still attack a girl. Otherwise the battle will just never end if you don't have any Phoenix Downs or Life Magic equipped.
It took me 20 playthroughs to realize that the game starts at the end. Sorceress Rinoa stands in the flower field, waiting for Squall to return from the future. But Squall is actually stuck in the past, where Ultimecia is giving her powers to Edea. So Rinoa grabs a petal from the wind, turns it into a feather and sends it into waning Time Compression. Feather traces events of the game starting from the duel between Squall and Seifer, and falls into Squall's lap in the final cutscene.
On the other hand, if you die in battle, game over screen shows you Squall's broken gunblade and the feather lying beside it, implying that the feather was not able to find Squall, and that it was there, when the battle happened.
No, there isn't. To my knowledge, at least. And she is waiting in the present, not past. "The past" usually refers to the era we play as Laguna in.
I'm listening to an old man in lower Junon in Rebirth, and he's telling a story about how the former Junon Republic's capital city was made of floatilas in the Junon harbour, but that Shinra sank it. He also mentioned it being full of treasures.
A sunken city? Sounds like something pretty cool to explore with a submarine in part 3!
I really am wondering how the flying and underwater areas are going to be incorporated. It feels like a massive undertaking.
The Meridian Ocean took a while to traverse if you took on the Pirate SQ, so there should be quite a bit to explore underwater...
... With the current size and terrain of the world from Rebirth though, there doesn't seem to be much use for the Highwind right now. MAN I hope I'm wrong though...
My question is what do you with them? In the OG all you can do with the submarine is fight Emerald Weapon, get the Magnus Materia, get to the sunken helicopter, and get the key of the ancients.
It seems like the Highwind is getting way more attention in interviews.
I am slightly concerned that we won't have a submarine in part 3. If you recall the submarine game you play to escape junon becomes available in the gold saucer and while there is definitely an area of the wonder square that is blocked off and has the snow mural indicating the snowboard minigame will be available at some point in part 3, I see nowhere that the submarine game has any sort of placeholder. I hope I am wrong bc I liked the sub game every bit as much as the bike game, maybe more in OG. I really hope they bring back the dart minigame you play in 7th heaven at the beginning of Remake. I'd love to see that put into every bar around the world. Thought that game was super fun as well.
I came across this dialogue a few days ago and had the same thought! It felt just like a tease for submarine exploration
Great catch OP! I think it’s safe to assume >!the submarine part!< of the game will be expanded and this would be an awesome way to do so.
I agree with you but the mods should spoiler tag this post. Its basically ruining one of part 3's greatest surprises for newcomers.
Ah, good point, I didn't really think of it as a spoiler! I've updated the flair!
☝🏼
I was just thinking about how incredible the Gold Saucer will look and I was wondering what other people were most excited to see. Where are you looking forward to see and why?
I came to say Nibelhiem but after reading these comments, I'm stoked for all of it and am gonna do another playthrough of the OG
Come back after your play through I wanna see what you are excited for after that.
The forgotten city. I loved the atmosphere in the OG and I can’t wait to hear the music they’ll use of it (they used some version of that song in Remake called “Seven Seconds till the End” which was incredible )
Yessss I love that song. The whole remake's songs are excellent imo
Yes, with the abandoned reactor. And the heavy tank (half-dinosaur, half-tank). Really underrated how weird that enemy is.
Costa de Sol! And the parade...love to excercise the march!
Omg Costa De Sol will be such a vibe. Can't wait to see Barret in the sailor costume. Also the march will be so fun!
Kicking the football against Barret..making him angry!
I'd have to say The Forgotten City/City of the Ancients
It will look stunning.
You know Gongaga?
Can't wait to go to Gongaga and meet Zack's parents. I bet Cloud will have one of those weird Harry Potterey headache moments haha
Mine is that when the party reaches Nibelheim regardless of who is in your party Tifa will stay close to Cloud after she tells Cloud to stay close and that being back is hard
The ending when Cloud asks Aerith if she's going to be okay then Aerith asks "And if I said I wasn't?"
A reference to an interaction of theirs in Remake in the park right before they see Tifa in the chocobo wagon headed to Don Corneo
If you did Cissnei's quest, Spice of Life I think it is, there's a call back to Language of Flowers. In Remake he tells the flowers "Learn to talk to her". In the Rebirth quest he asks "They finally learn to talk back?" after she tells the farmer what the plants are "thinking/saying". When I heard it the first time I did the Leonardo Dicaprio point at the screen move.
The only other reference to remake I've caught besides yours and what I mentioned above is also in a Gongaga quest for Barret. It has to do with that ingredient Jessie talked to Cloud about which is revealed to be used in Love Potions. If you didn't choose the option where she says that in Remake, that reference flies completely over the head in Rebirth. It's been so long since I've done the quest, but I think there's a moment where you see Cloud's realization.
In Loveless, the Fool references Remake when he says he's never seen a swordsman dance with such grace and skill.
The Fool usually tells the truth in a play, and he really hasn't seen it - it was just Aerith watching moves get bust between Cloud and Andrea.
For me it's all the NPC side stories going on, and that they progress and change as you get further into the game. Also, there are alternate versions of some of the NPC stories in Zack's world where the dreams they hoped for in reality come to fruition.
Main world there's a couple you run into that have tried for years to get pregnant. You see them in Cosmo Canyon trying to make peace with it and talking about adoption. Later in Terrier you see she did get pregnant and they say something like "I just wish we had the chance to meet her." talking about the unborn baby. It's bittersweet but illustrates that these extra worlds are for unrealized hopes/dreams/desires.
Outside of that subplot, there's tons of fun details all over:
Kalm: The two girls fighting over the same guy get into a slap fight, then start dating each other.
Kalm: A guy commenting about the "hot blonde with pigtails" or something back in Wall Market.
Kalm: The whole farmers market alley is a delight, same with the vendors in Costa Del Sol.
Gold Saucer patrons fill all the stereotypical tourist tropes; the over-organized itinerary person, a mom trying to corral her whiny kids, guy forcing his GF/friends back to races to keep gambling, person trying to do too much in one day, etc.
Love that all the weapons from Remake adorn Johnny's hotel, and the descriptions on all the trophies are great - the Loveless ones hint that Chadley runs a fan club lol.
All the posters and pictures all over the place, but Tifa's room is the best. On her bed wall she's got pictures of all the locations the party visits in Rebirth (up until ToTA/FC). Love the Zell reference, the weapon posters, Dumbapple juice posters too.
Chadley dressing up as a Tonberry wizard was so cute!
All the music for even small things like optional side quests or optional NPCs - the guy playing blues on his guitar in the Crows Nest was awesome and he has 2 songs, who doesn't love Bow Wow Wow, One-two Sabo, the Gus battle area version of his theme, they made unique and amazing music for everything. It's incredible.
The Cloud Jr. questline: once you finish it and go back with Barrett to Corel, the chicks and the mama bird follow Barrett around everywhere. It's adorable.
Devs trolling us with the chicken quest.
Vincent enjoying the decor of the Haunted Hotel
Vincent being a QB god and the aftermath cutscene of beating Regina was fucking phenomenally absurd over the top anime Yu-Gi-Oh level ridiculousness and I absolutely loved it.
Cid and Barrett bickering, and Cid showing his true colors if you put around in the tiny bronco enough. If you try to pull up next to the Shinra ship in Junon he gets pissed and says "I ain't dockin' at no Shinra port!!"
Cloud straight up hitting on the storybook author in Gongaga made me laugh so hard.
The Yuffie graffiti up Mt. Corel
There's so much I could keep going forever!
Vincent being a QB god
If you visit the Gold Saucer after the QB quest has concluded, you can battle Red who is a QB Supergod.
Cissnei also has a magazine on her bed talking about fashion in Midgar, and the page is flipped open to people wearing suits! Her kitchen also has a punching bag and a wall rack with several of her shurikens ready to go, she's still keeping in shape and up to snuff.
There's also a girl in Corel who talks about that Shinra executive that visited town all those years ago. Basically lusting after Scarlet. In Corel!
And no matter where you go in Chapter 13, Cid is standing at the dock next to the Tiny Bronco. Vincent is nearby, but often hiding behind boxes or shipping containers or on another dock across the bay. It was fun hunting him down at each location. He also talks shit about you if you try to leave during the Shinra Manor side quest before taking the elevator downstairs. "Fear is natural." I'M SORRY I WENT INTO THE LIVING ROOM, MY BAD VINCENT, CUT ME A BREAK DUDE
I'm pretty sure you and I have talked about these details before, nice to see you again lol! It sounds like you went back and were able to confirm that the intermission pregnant couple was the same one from the Cosmo Canyon therapy session. Very cool!!
Omg this reminds me! In the haunted hotel room, there's a magazine open to an article about Stamp and (seemingly) its creator - Reeve. If he's really behind Stamp, and Stamp was a helpful marker in Remake for the party to follow in the sewers and stuff, it seems Reeve has been double agenting for longer than we think.
Interesting about the Shinra exec - was she explicitly talking about Scarlet? There's a theory a female Turk rescued Tifa from Nibelheim and took her to Doc Sheiran in Corel - maybe that girl is talking about the mystery Turk.
I loved the Vincent side content, he's so funny!
I'm sure we have. Yea my kid was doing his playthrough and was on a Zack chapter and I took over the controls to check haha. It's too hard to get to those points in the story from Ch select you have to play so much to get to them!
You don’t notice it if you don’t stop, but as you’re running to safety as Aerith after the black materia is removed, Cloud sticks by Aerith wherever she runs. If she runs back, only he follows her. I guess that’s their way of writing in that he could be out of his mind but he still remembers his instincts, protection being one of them.
When Aerith gets off of a Chocobo she pats its head, which many people know by now, but something I also noticed is if she gets on the Chocobo from the right, she swings her legs to the left. They could have just animated her on transport sitting on the chocobo’s left all the time so it’s a neat little add in.
A subtle thing I with they didn’t remove from remake was Aerith waving goodbye to Bahamut. It would have been cute if they kept that for Bahamut Arisen.
When Bugenhagen says that the Cetra are not a religious people, Aerith is visibly disappointed. Her favorite place in the world is a church.
The extra quests that open up after Ch 12, one has you helping a woman write a children's book. But here's the video if you don't want to play it.
https://youtu.be/pIsaVCnmNNo?si=m664sF6r6SQezrgV
Barrett straight up blocking lmao I love it.
Did you return to that area later on ands see the grave Dio made for him?
Dude there are SO many unique voice moments that they totally didn’t have to add but did. Like if you put Elena to sleep in battle, she mutters some insecurities while dreaming, something like “did I do good, boss?” Like the smallest most obscure moment, and they manage to inject some personality traits.
It’s actually a Kingdom Hearts reference.
First thing I thought was Destiny Island in Kingdom Hearts.
Reminds me more of XV. Looks similar to Galdin Quay
Because there’s a beach?
People die, and Aerith dances
The hidden scene between Sabin and Duncan's wife.
No one ever sees it, not even hardcore FF6 fans, because you have to backtrack for no logical reason midway through the Returner's hideout quest.
I'm telling the truth; no one ever sees this scene because it's so minor. I've never met any fans online who have seen it (though I assume I can't possibly be the only one so they're likely out there too).
After the Vargas fight and meeting Sabin for the first time, instead of going onto the Returners' camp, you have to backtrack back to South Figaro and see Duncan's Wife. She'll have a short bit of dialogue where Sabin tells her about Vargas and she hints Duncan is still alive.
I am sure there are bigger ones, but Excalibur II from FFIX is pretty big, imo.
Excalibur 2 has been known about since 2000
the nero family quest that gives you a protect ring on disc 4 was only discovered a couple of years ago.
This is a good call. That was recently found.
I think my mind set was more along the lines of a "casual" player, however. No one knows about that sword, or has any hint about it until after they pass that point (in hours) and "see" that Steiner might be missing abilities. To my knowledge, nothing casually infers to you that the sword is there and has a strict time limit. I think that is a pretty well hidden secret. :)
Do you know how to get Excalibur in XIITZA? I'm in the Great Crystal right now in the spot reloading the area over and over again but it won't pop up. I'm beginning to think that maybe I should just leave, but it takes so long to get out of there.. what should i do iyo?
It is in the same spot as the Ultimate Esper, after you kill it. It is a 100% chest, now.
One of the largest one is the scene in FFX which spoils the ending. Go to the Macalania Temple before confronting the final boss, and the Fayth will info dump in a way which totally reveals the ending to the game. A lot of people miss that one.
"Should the dreaming end, you too will disappear--Fade into Spira's sea, Spira's sky." "But do not weep, nor rise in anger." "Even we were once human. That is why we must dream." "Let us summon a sea in a new dream world." "A new sea for you to swim."
Who the hell expects people to backtrack from the final dungeon 16 times?
a quick tour of the towns talking to everyone once should be enough to cover any final quests before you finish the game,
the only possible way of stumbling into that quest if you happen to head back for the tour of towns after you've already been to lindblum and run into benero and zenero leaving, then you get to see genero going after them, now i'd go back and fourth between the screens a few times to see if more scenes come, maybe i'd fight a few battles outside lindblum when that fails, see if it's on a battle counter before deciding that must be the final scene, i certainly wouldn't go back to the final dungeon walk onto the next screen from where i got last time and then head straight back and i wouldn't repeat it 16 bloody times!
it is literally the most stupid inane quest i know of in all of gaming
Even more disappointing, we only get a protect ring, we hadn't even finally gotten the medal to fit into the fountain in lindblum castle! how many decades must we wait for that one?
The biggest secret has got to be the Lost Nero Family sidequest in Final Fantasy 9; it took people thirteen years to even figure out it existed.
I heard it was detailed in the Japan Ultimania guide.
The world is absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. Yet, very few "camera shots" are dedicated to showing it off sometimes. The environments are given very brief hero shots, if shown off all. The game invites you to move the camera yourself to enjoy the views, but this gives the chance for some of its beauty to be missed. Anyhow, enjoy a few camera-break shots from the game!
I think most of them are because of engine limitations. The world is gigantic af but most of it works because of some kind of technomancy witchcraft with loading and unloading assets. Seeing how many fake loading screens Remake had its incredible how seamless Rebirth is in comparison.
I’m not technologically literate, what do you mean by fake loading screens?
Remember the narrow gap in the fence you had to squeeze through when getting from the church to the station? That hides loading, but doesn't push you to a loading screen. Same with any long stretch of terrain with only background rendering (so no enemies or objects in the foreground), like the corridor run between sector 5 and wall market. Other examples include balance beam walkways and climbing sequences.
You know those yellow ledges in rebirth? As you climb them, you are focused on the wall, not looking around as much, and your movement is slow, constant (so measurable), and controlled. The game uses this as a chance to drop assets from the cached memory and load in the next area without having a loading screen to make it seem more seamless.
I was thinking the same thing!
Kalm was so cozy
Kalm in particular benefits from being the next stop after Midgar/Remake.
Really gave a sense of the wider world beyond the walls and what’s to come.
It was literally Disneyfied in-universe. >!Shinra pulled a Nibelheim when they accidentally wrecked it ten years before and rebuilt it to make it seem like nothing happened, replacing all the dead folks with Shinra employees.!<
That overhead shot of Kalm is incredible. I was excited to see how that town would look in the game, and they did not disappoint.
That first screenshot made me think I was looking at a FF7 battle royal game
I didn't read the title and thought a new Apex map was coming out
That actually existed for a while. First Soldier.
Nothing says understated like a quarter mile long cannon with rainbow jets flying over it. /s
Am sorry if this is a bit out of place, but I found it very confusing when I was near the end of Remake, there is this place that the group just suddenly teleported into. Can somebody help where’s the group at? I understand that it is a fantasy game, but with destiny being defeated, I couldn’t help but wonder if this place has any connection with the OG / AC, or even wilder, other FF titles? There must be some hints / subtle clues that we can get by understanding where they were, & also possibly a hidden clue of a way to save Aerith, our beloved queen / angelic girl. Can someone help? Really want to save her in part 3, & hopefully can use this as a base theory / foundation to hold on to hope of being able to save her… ; thanks in advance… 🙏
Looks similar to the place where Cloud and Aerith fought against Sephiroth at the end of Rebirth 🤔
Good point ! 👍; see, I believe there must be some hidden hints / clues as to how this place will connect to our hopes / dreams of saving her. Hopefully someone can provide a better / more concrete explanations / theories on how it will relate to save our beloved girl… ; thanks for commenting… 🙏
Could it be the "reunion". I mean a place that appears when a new destiny is created and the worlds are linked together? Or kind of something like this.
I am attracted to the explanation of a neutral state of Lifestream.
Without forgetting what are still in the uniqueness (this plane copied the Beagle world as a mirror) to finish riding the destination against Sephirtoh.
Can you battle so intensely in Lifestream? Or were they teleported to another place yet again? Cause after this place, the final battle with Sephiroth starts. It is so confusing, yet also interesting, as it brought hope, but also fear… ; This is so confusing, I hope my head won’t explode tomorrow for thinking too much… 🤯😓😔😔
Hmmm, Aerith is the only one without a weapon here. I wonder if that has any significance.
Aerith can summon her weapon at will, just like Sephiroth.
Ah true! I was half asleep when I wrote that lol. Tifa's and Barrett's stance kind of threw me off, because they both look like they're ready for battle. Cloud is always calm and collected up until it's fightin' time, and Aerith seems like she's taking a casual stroll lol.
I sure hope it has some significance to ways of saving her in part 3… 🙏
It's the white space. It could be the space between the Lifestream or in the Lifestream. (Copout answer), which it totally could be.
Or it could be the space between consciousness of ones mind as we see it in Advent Children, which Aerith lives in Clouds consciousness. So when with her, it's the white space.
I think it's outside of reality like in-between. the Edge of creation/ white space. Before they fight at the end, Cloud and Aerith against Sephiroth. He appears to be in that space before she shows up and the white whipsers make it white. I think as it breaks apart that other timeline/world. It is in these pieces of Gaia. We see them all separate and fight Sephiroth and his different forms. We see Tifa and Yuffie, Cloud, and Zack, etcetera. Fighting on different broken up timelines/ worlds. Or it is to represent the center of the planet like in OG where they fight and its all broken up. We clearly see the white whipsers, which, according to the asses, belong to the planet. They can make it a white space. So it could be several things. We probably won't know 100% until the last game. When and where this is supposed to be.
Personally, to me, it's two places.
The one easiest to tell. It's in Clpuds head or consciousness. When he speaks to Aerith in AC. And when he speaks to himself in Remake to move something.
The other is the space between each timeline or world as it breaks apart after Sephiroth sucks up the Lifestream to give himself more power from the dying bits of Gaia. Until there is nothing left and it becomes the broken prices of the planet we see, as well as the white space we see after nothing is left.
Or the water-y ground white place is a reality Sephiroth has destroyed and they are in the remains. The no water-y floor is between worlds/realities. Just the white space is between, like when we see Zack and he sees a frozen Cloud. Except in Remake, because when Cloud talks to himself, that is just his mind and inner self.
Of course, the cop out answer per usual is Lifestream, and I hope they don't cop out on us.
These actually adds more questions & confusions, rather than answer… 🤔😓; if it truly is in Cloud’s head only, then why would the others (like Tifa & Barret) also experience the same difficult battle / struggle? For the 2nd option, if it is true, then do you mean the others have also travelled between planes / realities? Then would that mean that they would also be able to see the rift in the sky? As a planeswalker (someone who has travelled between worlds / realities) they should be able to do so, right? For the 3rd option, if the world has been destroyed, shouldn’t their lifestream returns to the planet or being absorbed by Seph? How is it possible that they’re still able to stand, and then fight intensely againts Seph? I appreciated the comments & answers, but it just adds another layer of confusion, & didn’t give a satisfying answer… 🙏🤔😓
No, no, only two places are in his Head. When he is trying to wake up from falling in Remake right before waking in the church. And in Advent Children.
We can only guess, i think the reason Cloud can see the fracture in the sky and see Aerith is because he has been in a different world. (When him and Aerith pick jewelry, eat candy, ect) and where the others have not.
Tifa had been inside a weapon, thus making her be able to see the glitches while Cloud holds a dying/alive Aerith. And of course, Cloud sees it too.
Yes, they have fought anywhere. Even in OG at the end of the game. They also fight at the Edge of Creation so having no world/no planet they can still exist. Same at the end of Remake/Rebirth they are fighting in what's left of worlds or the Creation of a new world. That white space is after its destroyed or being remade.
:) I hope that clears up the misunderstanding. Anyway it's all a guess.
Towards the end of Rebirth, the game notifies you that the incoming Shinra/Wutai War will cause most regions to close their borders and that you should take care of any side quests before heading to the Northern Continent. This I'm predicting will make it so you can't access the majority of places in the Grasslands, Junon, Corel, Gongaga, Cosmo Canyon or Nibelheim regions in R3make.
We will most likely still be going to Junon and Midgar to hit the main plot points from the original game (accessing the submarine, fights with Scarlet, Heidegger and Hojo, etc), but those will be accessed through cutscenes rather than just straight up traversing the entire world map and walking right in. The focus will be on expanding the Northern Continent, Wutai, Rocket Town and Mideel as they will be fresh as far as the Remake timeline goes.
They got the areas, they're going to use them. It makes more sense that they expand them a bit around the edges like Spider-Man 2 as opposed to just not ever using them.
The borders closing is just a hint at the Highwind.
Is not like FF8 and 9 that they cut places in CD4, because space.
And they say something like"we are working on Highwind so you can control like OG"
The "border closing" is a hint to you finish sides too, and can be to you revisit older places to help people or even to limit you to go to all places in beginning. I belive will be to make you go to like Kalm town to help people there, and so in other places.
Don't forget the fleet of fighter jets Junon had - I suspect a number of aerial battles to happen, particularly while leaving Junon initially after you steal the Highwind and probably enroute to Wutai.
I also think that the Moogles will be hidden in the clouds this time, with some sky surfing nonsense to access their moogle emporium, given that the devs have hinted at snowboarding and a "unique mechanic" for the Highwind. Cloud got his Moogle wings after all...
No way. Maybe at the very start to limit where you can go, but by the end of the game you will be able to go anywhere you want with the Highwind (and possibly with the golden chocobo).
What makes people think theyll scale back hard on something so crucial as the highwind gameplay? they already proved that they can expand on it and do it faithfully with the Plane/Boat sections - you have set docking locations sure and yah some areas will probably be locked during story moments, but youll Still be able to fly throughout the entirety of the map, i firmly believe this will happen - this game isnt built on the bethesda engine where everything needs loading screens.
Again theyve already proven that the systems are inplace to allow full Highwind control, and they said in dev interviews that what they cooked for the Highwind should make people happy so im holding out that people should be satisfied, Rebirth sets up alot for Part 3 to go all out, no reason to assume otherwise imo.
We literally got full >!ocean traversal!< at the end of Rebirth. There's no way they're scaling back.
It would be easy enough for them to include the whole world map in the game, but they'll probably need to find a reason to not let players enter every town again. Unless there are campaign stops there. Otherwise, I could see the install game being like, 50% for models/assets for areas that aren't even part of the plot.
On the other hand...I don't really care. Would love for a massive 200 GB game that gives me the whole FFVII world to run around in.
They said we wouldn't be disappointed at the highwind, so that's my guess too
Could be that the closed borders are what makes the Highwind so valuable. Can't cross on foot and the Bronco can't fly high enough to avoid anti-air defenses then we experience full freedom of travel with the Highwind?
Hell just imagining being able to see the Weapons far off in the distance just hanging out around the world map sounds like the coolest shit ever, let alone how we'll actually fight them.
We havent gotten anything like that in a game recently let alone a Final Fantasy game, so whatever happens i have no doubt will be amazing.
I think this is absolutely awful if it happens.
They’ve built the map. I want to access it all in part 3.
This would be incredibly incredibly incredibly disappointing.
I tend to disagree given the fact we are getting the Highwind in part 3 and the story requires we return to multiple locations. I think itll work similarly to the boat in Rebirth where there are landing points. Maybe they cut down the areas weve been to before a little. Like I can see the Cosmo Canyon and Junon areas being cut down for example, even if Cosmo Canyon and Junon itself isnt. But it would be weird if we have Junon and Fort Condor but nothing in between for example. Or Kalm but no Choco farm.
I dunno, Im sure the game will be massive regardless. I trust the dev team to deliver a satisfying world to explore with the Highwind. I think they want us to return to alot of areas and visit characters weve already met to effectively show the difference in mood and vibe between Rebirth and part 3 now theres a meteor coming to destroy the world. Alot of people in Rebirth are upbeat, most of them will be sombre in part 3 given the events at play.
Obviously theres alot of new areas to visit still, but they spent along time building up to a fully visitable world. I think they know theres alot of backlash they will recieve if they dont delivery at least a majority of locations around the world in part3.
