Understanding Pacifist Criteria
To achieve a pacifist run in Cuphead, you must complete the "Run 'n Gun" levels without defeating any enemies directly. Parry kills do not count against your pacifist status, so utilizing parries strategically can help navigate difficult sections [1:3]. It's important to note that using cheats or certain game assists, like Djimmi's double HP, can restrict your rank to B+ instead of granting a pacifist rank
[3:1].
Strategies and Techniques
Several strategies can aid in achieving a pacifist run. Using the Smoke Bomb charm is highly recommended as it allows you to dash through enemies and obstacles without taking damage [1:4]. Another technique is to use Super Art II for invincibility, allowing you to bypass challenging areas without harm
[1:1]. Damage boosting, where you intentionally take damage to pass through enemies, can also be useful but requires careful health management
[1:5].
Challenges and Persistence
Pacifist runs are considered one of the most challenging aspects of Cuphead. Many players report frustration and multiple attempts before successfully completing levels [2:1]
[2:4]. Some levels, like the card level, are particularly difficult
[2:5]. Despite the difficulty, persistence and repeated attempts are key, as each attempt helps refine your strategy
[2:3].
Maintaining Progress
Once you achieve a pacifist score on a level, you can replay the level to collect coins or improve other scores without losing your pacifist achievement [5:1]. This flexibility allows you to focus on perfecting your pacifist strategy first and then revisit levels for additional objectives.
By understanding the criteria, employing strategic techniques, and maintaining persistence, you can successfully achieve a pacifist run in Cuphead.
I'm on Switch.
Remember that parry kills don’t count as kills.
They do if you kill enemies with whetstone.
Use smoke bomb, that's it :)
Damage boost, that’s it
Get 5 parties early on so you can use super 2 to not take damage and boost your way through hard areas. Either smoke dash or 2 + heart charm equipped.
safe to say i will be taking a long break after this, i almost broke every electronic in front of me
So sad. I think that level is the hardest to get pacifist.
Think I died twice in that particular part of the level when going for it. Devastating.
Definitely on of the hardest levels to get a Pacifist rank on.
for me, it was the fucking card level.
I remember messing up a few times on the final moments of this level. Super frustrating. But hey, you sorta get the strategy to beat the level. It's just a matter of attempts before you beat it -- so there is solace.
Yeah, that last segment is brutal. Took me several tries.
Man that would suck to happen
Damn, that was foul as shit
So ive been loving the delicious last course and playing as ms chalice, so i was trying for a pacifist run of the first run and gun level as chalice but when i beat it without killing anything, i still got no pacifist rank, just getting a B. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it? (I had the double HP from djimmi if that matters)
Using cheats restricts it to B+, so Djimmi is the reason.
Oh, that makes sense! Thank u!

?
Yes. It keeps a record of your highest score, and P is the highest.
well that's good, cause I got no coins lol, ty
i have 1K+ deaths you have achieved perfection
Yeah it’s just hard watching you tubers beat the bosses in like 10 tries and going “wow that was hard”
Not too bad actually after completing the game and getting the pacifist achievement I had about 1000 deaths
I just got all the coins. How are you meant to get everything?
What do you mean by everything?
Wait, so this is just from getting the coins?
I think my first time through was like 120
Bro do you know that you can parry the tower/wall 's face, right? Great job btw
😂 😂 😂 😂 nop, thanks for the advice dude!
You're welcome
Was about to comment that lol
Does anyone know if you specifically have to play as Cuphead/Mugman?
Did you P rank every run and gun?
Fuck me I’m so dumb. I thought it was just one. Back at it.
You have to P rank all of the run and gun levels
Definitely the kind of game you enjoy so much that you want to reward it by buying the DLC.
I love watching my plat vid for this. I was so locked in at the end I was just jumping around the falling chip perfectly and I love reliving that moment. I have no idea how many hours it took to finally beat him but it was a lot. Congrats 🎉
The fun thing is that I did that parry on the video by accident and so glad I did because it would have taken me out. I was so locked in that I didn't even noticed the super was charged
Don’t say that, it is that hard, u are very good playing and that’s it, I also got it 2 years ago, my 2nd favorite after Dark Souls 1
I just thought it would be harder because of all the boogeyman stories around it. But by no means it's a walk in the park
It’s mostly kids especially with how cuphead looks.
>Not as hard as the reputation it has.
Totally agree. I think it was the prefect level of difficulty for me.
I expected it to be way harder based on the stories i heard about it on release. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't some rage inducing impossible game either. Just a pleasant challenge
Exactly how I felt. Liked it so much that should be playing the DLC soon.
I think the dlc is a bit harder than base game, but nothing crazy. It was great
I’ve always wanted to go for it but always found it intimidating. How long did it take you?
Not OP but took me approx 20 hrs including dlc. If I were to redo this I think I could do it under 10 hrs as there is def some stuff to get used to at first but once you get a hang of the concept it's not too bad.
If you love a challenge go for it. It's not easy at all but once you get use to it, you'll get better amd better.
