How to Beat Beppi the Clown in Cuphead

TL;DR

  • Use weapons like Charge, Lobber, and Roundabout.
  • Equip Smoke Bomb or Twin Heart charms.
  • Focus on dodging and learning patterns.

Weapon and Charm Recommendations

Several players recommend specific weapon loadouts for tackling Beppi the Clown. The use of the Charge and Lobber weapons is suggested for their effectiveness in the second and third phases [1:7], while the Roundabout is recommended for its ability to hit enemies from a distance [5:1]. For charms, the Smoke Bomb is favored for its dodge capabilities [2:3], and the Twin Heart charm is useful for providing extra health [3:1].

Phase Strategies

Each phase of Beppi's fight requires different strategies. In the first phase, the Roundabout weapon can be used effectively to take out ducks while staying mobile [5:2]. The second phase involves dealing with dogs that move towards your weapon, making it crucial to focus on dodging [5:1]. The third phase is considered challenging by many players, where understanding the horse patterns is key [1:4]. Players suggest staying on platforms and using Lobber to manage this phase [1:12].

General Tips

Learning Beppi’s attack patterns is essential. Observing his movements and adjusting your strategy accordingly can make the fight more manageable [2:1]. Some players find it helpful to avoid shooting unless it's completely safe, especially during the final phase [1:8]. Watching gameplay videos or streams might also provide insights into effective strategies [2:1].

Persistence and Practice

Many players emphasize the importance of persistence and practice. Beppi is often cited as one of the more challenging bosses in Isle 2, requiring multiple attempts to defeat [1:5], [3:1]. It's important to keep trying different strategies until you find what works best for you [2:2].

You can beat him in Simple Mode and you can still move on over to Isle 3. However, you need to defeat every boss in Regular mode to fight King Dice and the Devil

I had a harder time beating that fucking clown than Grim Matchstick. Don't ask me why.

Imo the clown was easy up to it's third phase, on that I died a few times but then I understood the horse patterns and it was easy. The final phase is the only pain in that fight.

If you need help for him, I use Charge, Lobber, Super Art 1 (for last phase), and +2 HP charm (you can use +1 HP version if you don't have that)

It took me forever to beat grim matchstick then I got to the bee level and quit for a good two years. I hate that level so much. The soundtrack, the cop, the plane that forces you to shoot down. Sucks.

You don't. You can go to the next Isle if you beat all the bosses in the previous one in at least Simple

I remember making the huge mistake and using chaser for the third. Like seriously why are those balls considered enemies for the chaser to hit?

What I would do? Smoke screen, and chaser. Let the chaser attack, so you can just focus on dodging with smoke screen with needed. Also pea shot for its special.

Been a while since I did it. I believe I used the boomerang projectiles for most of it. (helps with the ducks at the start)
I would say watch a couple people play it, try their strategies, and adjust your loadout as needed.

Many bosses become a tad easier if you are able to figure out their patterns.

Basically, observe, then try again.

for the clown, use roundabout, spread, and smoke dash and for the first phase go to the wall away from him and start jumping with roundabout to take out the ducks and beppi

As a beppi the clown expert not really

Use smoke bomb

Literally just use roundabout as your main and peashooter

First phase pretty straight forward shoot with roundabout dash through him blah blah blah

Phase two uhhh The dogs basically just come towards your weapon so 🤗

Phase 3 is a pain stay on the platform at all times an ez

This fight was insane 🥲 (p.s. if you didn’t noticed yet i’m italian, so if my inglish isn’t much correct it’s because of it :p)

I used crackshot, spread and Ms. Chalice for him. Was pretty easy imo if you can parry the cards with Chalice’s dash parry.

3 upvotes on reddit
ReArdo_Reddit · OP · 4 months ago

But isn’t it more difficult to parry the cards with the dash?

1 upvotes on reddit
NeatHenk · 4 months ago

I think the cards have their hit boxes extended a little bit more to their top so you can dash slightly on the high end and parry them with the dash. Chalice makes the mini bosses super easy and you can just spam spread EX on Dice’s face after that to stay on air if you can’t pull of the parries on the cards.

imo the most satisfying part of the game is in your own skill progression. I’m stuck on the Devil in the base game, but I know I will beat him eventually - the fight is fair and it’s just a matter of fine-tuning my reflexes and responses, as it was for every other fight in the game.

I was looking at my boss fight scores and noticed that I got a B- for Goopy Le Grande and an A- for Dr. Kahl’s Robot, lol. The game truly does get easier with practice (and a lot of patience).

Hey all. I'm new to this sub as I just bought Cuphead like a week and a half ago. I just wanted to say that I cannot stop playing it! I've already got all achievements except beating the game on expert, and I should be getting that one soon, too. I'm looking forward to discussing this amazing game with you all, and I'm already excited for the DLC!

P.S. Since I know it's a major thing on here, I would say my three most difficult bosses are The Devil, Rumor Honeybottoms, and Grim Matchstick.

Yeah. Rumor and Matchsticks are hard because the stage moves. You’re not just fighting the boss and dodging attacks, but also having to make sure you can land on a platform. And the Devil is supposed to be hard. He’s the final boss after all.

3 upvotes on reddit
SturmgeistX · OP · 5 years ago

Rumor damn near drove me crazy trying to get the A rank. It's so hard to parry anything in that level so I had to switch to the automatic parry charm, which in turn made me get hit more because I was so used to playing with smoke bomb.

I think it took me longer than all of the other Isle 3 bosses combined.

1 upvotes on reddit

My roommate and I were playing Rumor’s level. I was amazed when she managed to beat it herself. She went from dying first in almost every fight to beating Cala Maria and Rumor on her own. I have no idea how she did it.

Yes chaser is damn near useless after the first phase. Lober kicks ass too specially on Rumor honey bottoms and Wally warbles! And charge shot is epic but I need to implement it more. Probably will now that I’m tackling expert.

Been playing for awhile.

Early, my advice is to get Smokebomb (invincible dash) and the Roundabout weapon first.

Spend your first 4 coins on Roundabout. Do the first Run-n-Gun and then buy Smokebomb.

Those 2 items should be able to carry you through Isle 1 and quite a few other bosses.

Coffee is a good item for plane levels to be able to spam ex attack more frequently.

Have fun!

How to beat Beppi the Clown in cuphead

Here are some key strategies to beat Beppi the Clown in Cuphead:

  1. Understand the Phases:

    • Beppi has three main phases:
      • Phase 1: He attacks with a series of punches and a rollercoaster.
      • Phase 2: He transforms into a giant clown head and uses balloon animals.
      • Phase 3: He becomes a giant, angry clown with a more aggressive attack pattern.
  2. Dodge and Positioning:

    • Keep moving to avoid his attacks. Stay aware of the rollercoaster and the balloons.
    • Position yourself to dodge punches and avoid getting cornered.
  3. Use Super Arts and Special Attacks:

    • Use your Super Arts when you have enough meter built up. The Invincibility Super Art can be particularly useful during tricky moments.
    • Use your special attacks strategically to deal damage while avoiding incoming attacks.
  4. Focus on the Balloons:

    • In Phase 2, prioritize destroying the balloon animals as they can block your shots and deal damage.
  5. Learn the Patterns:

    • Each phase has specific attack patterns. Spend some time learning these patterns to anticipate and dodge effectively.
  6. Co-op Play:

    • If you're playing co-op, communicate with your partner to cover each other and revive when necessary.

Takeaway: Patience and practice are key. Focus on learning Beppi's attack patterns and use your mobility to your advantage. With persistence, you'll be able to defeat him!
