TL;DR
Troubleshooting HDMI Connection
If your PS5 is not displaying on your TV, the first step is to check the HDMI connection. Test different HDMI cables and ports on the TV to rule out any cable or port issues [1:1]
[2:1]. It’s also advisable to inspect the HDMI port on the PS5 for any visible damage or bent pins, as this is a common issue
[1:3].
Resolution and Display Settings
Sometimes, the PS5 might be outputting at an unsupported resolution for your TV. Booting the PS5 in safe mode and selecting a lower resolution can help establish a connection [3:1]. Additionally, some TVs have specific HDMI modes that need to be adjusted, such as switching from Auto to HDMI 2.0
[3:2].
Software Updates
Ensure that your TV's software is up-to-date, as outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with newer devices like the PS5 [3:4]. This step can resolve unexpected problems that arise from mismatched software versions between the console and the TV.
Hardware Issues
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be a hardware problem with the PS5 itself. A broken or poorly soldered HDMI port on the console could be the culprit [1:1]
[5:2]. If the console is under warranty, sending it in for repair is recommended. Otherwise, local repair services might offer cheaper and faster solutions
[5:2].
Additional Recommendations
For persistent issues, consider resetting the PS5's video settings manually [5:1]. If you’re comfortable with DIY repairs and the console is out of warranty, you might attempt to fix or replace the HDMI port yourself, but proceed with caution as this involves technical expertise
[5:2].
By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to connect your PS5 to your TV successfully. If all else fails, consulting with professional repair services might be necessary.
Hoping someone can help, I’ve done all of the obvious stuff. My ps5 worked fine on my tv until I moved. Tried plugging it in to the same tv with same cord in the new house and it won’t show up on the tv. I have already tried:
Different hdmi cord Different hdmi ports Booting in safe mode Tested hdmi ports (tv ports work fine with other devices)
I don’t have another tv so I can’t try the ps5 on another display. Any other ideas???
Probably a broken HMDI port on the PS5. It's common. Look into the port with a flashlight or your phone camera and see if you can spot any bent or broken pins.
It all looks normal in there to my eye. Is there anything I can try or do I have to send it in?
Not really unless you want to open it up. Could be a bad solder joint on the HDMI port. If it's still under warranty just send it in. You will most likely get a refurbished unit back.
Check the hdmi port on the console. It is likely damaged
It looks normal in there to my eye. Is there anything I can do to mess with it or do I have to send it in?
Without seeing what it looks like, I have no idea
My ps5 won’t connect to my tv I’ve tried different tvs, and different hdmi cords but it still won’t connect. I even tried bringing it somewhere to get repaired and they replaced the HDMI port but it didn’t help. What is the issue and is there a way to solve it?
If it’s starting normally, it could be a number of other software issues like drivers or a disconnect somewhere mechanically. I’m no expert but if you aren’t getting any signal even after an HDMI “fix” I feel like it might be a bigger issue than just an HDMI fix
I posted here on Saturday about my problem, got an Onn Roku TV and tried to connect my PS5 but all I’m getting is either no signal or black screen with stuttering sound. Turned everything on and off multiple times, reset everything multiple times, cleaned the console, tried different outlets…no luck. But when I hooked up my laptop to the TV, it worked, so it can’t be the TV.
So today I went to have my console serviced, and turns out it works just fine but was recommended a better HDMI cable. Bought the Sony one from GameStop, came home…still doesn’t work and I’m going insane! Is there something I’m missing?
Edit: do I have to pair the controller with the TV?
I don't know about your TV specifically but does it have any software updates that need doing? Is possible whatever your issue is was fixed in an update had that with my xbox and samsung TV a while ago when i had issues with that and it was just an update i missed for the TV
It’s brand new and I updated it twice. It’s a 24 inch Onn Roku TV and it’s not 4K
Did a little googling and found this in a forum
"See if the Onn RokuTV has a HDMI Mode. ( Settings..TV Inputs..HDMI Mode) If it does, select HDMI 2.0 rather than Auto.
Then restart your Playstation and see if it boots up"
No idea if that'll help, it's the only thing i could find online personally
OP did you figure this out? Having the same problem myself and about at my wits end.
It was my TV, weirdly faulty HDMI port that worked with everything else but the console
Try starting ps5 in safe mode, the ps5 could be outputting at an unsupported resolution, select the lowest to get started if it lets you in, you can increase it later (with testing).
Title pretty much says it all. Nothing wrong with the TV, other devices display properly when plugged into the same hdmi ports. PlayStation turns on and seems to start up fine, I just get the “no signal” message on the tv. I’ve tried multiple HDMI cords, different ports, different TV’s but to no avail. It’s way out of warranty so I may just tinker with it myself. Any input on where to begin? Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix for it? Thanks in advance!!
Had my PS5's HDMI port replaced a few months ago, exact same issues. I would get the picture showing by wiggling the hdmi cord on ps5's a little, but after a few weeks of that it loosened too much and stopped giving me picture completely.
Luckily someone in my city did HDMI replacements in their garage so I got it cheap (80€), "official" replacements were double the price and would have had to wait 1-2 weeks. She did it in less than 2 hours and on top of that she took off the old liquid metals and put new ones in.
Also she told me the soldering job on the PS5 factory HDMI ports are really really bad.
Try this: https://www.reviews.org/au/games/how-to-manually-reset-the-playstation-5-video-settings/
Maybe some weird setting is causing the image issue. Won't hurt to try before trying some hardware fix
Try reversing the hdmi cable
Bad hdmi cable. I had to go through two hdmi cables before my console connected. Cheap cables.
Try using a different power cord
Download the PS App on your tablet or phone, open it and try to see if you can pair with your PS, if it works and you can see the console UI then we can narrow it down to either the cable, the cable socket on either TV or PS is damaged. Trying a different cable would help as well.
Hi everyone! My PS5 recently started not connecting to the my TV and was wondering why.
It's not the HDMI cords fault as it works for other electronics. It's not the TV because it works for other electronics. I have followed multiple YouTube videos restarting and eveything and it won't connect.
The best thing that has happened is I put it into sleep mode and the screen popped up, but then when selecting to change the resolution it disconnected again.
Any ideas on what the problem could be and how I could fix it? Thanks!
Your hdmi port looks pushed back so maybe it is an internal defect or you simply pushed the cord in too quick
Any way for me to try and pull it forward?
send it back
You need a hdmi replacement. You have to solder a new one on there.
It looks like there is gunk and a bunch of shit inside the port, I would recommend cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol and then trying it. It could also be a push in defect
That hdmi port looks like it will need to be replaced, and checked if any of the pads or traces got ripped from the board
Replacement time. Find somebody to swap it for you, or chance the repair yourself.not recommended

If the TV is a CRT, then you'll need an adapter
Nah I’m talking about a modern day tv I just like unconventional and unorthodox ways of doing things because I find it entertaining
One way is to put the PS5 inside the TV, but you need some soldering skills.
HDMI to VGA to AV back to HDMI.
Now this is why I asked the question lol I just un orthodox ways of doing things and wonder just how far I could stretch it lol
With spandex
With meat hooks
Planning on ordering my PS5 and I’m setting it up in my room. I have an LG TV monitor that I haven’t used in a few years (isn’t broken just removed the dvd players) and I’m wondering if I can set it up with it.. and if so how do I accomplish that ?
With the PS5 you have 2 mandatory cables you need to use it:
BOOM! You're done.
As long as the display device you are using has an HDMI port, it will work. Now the quality of the image, will depend on how recent that device is.
You can apply this to ANY console released in the last 10 years.
Plug in PS5.
Connect to TV with HDMI.
TA-DA!
Not sure what more you're expecting here.
I’m just asking if this older model can handle it or should I get a newer one ?
It'll set it up, but it's a 720p TV, so definitely worth swapping to at least a 1080p but preferably 4K TV as budget allows.
It has Hdmi so it is good. It will not have cristal clear image, but the image will show.
It has HDMI, therefore you can use it.
Compare stats to newer models to see if upgrading is of value to you.
Do you have a specific query, or is that all? Seems a bit of a waste of time post if that's all, tbh.
Same way you plug in any other console. HDMI to your monitor and power cord to the wall outlet
My ps5 is set to this which is a very cool feature, but it doesn’t work. My tv is a smart tv. The ps5 is hooked up with the hdmi cable it came with. Am i missing something?
HDMI-CEC settings. Check the settings on your tv. Mine turns on my tv.
Thanks alot.
🤟🏽 thanksss
Make sure HDMI Device Link (HDMI-CEC) is turned on your TV.

This worked
