TL;DR Ensure your HDMI cable is connected to the correct port (HDMI Out) on the Xbox One, check for any damage to the port, and try booting in low resolution mode if necessary.
Correct Port Connection
One of the most common issues when connecting an Xbox One to a TV is using the wrong HDMI port. The Xbox One has both an HDMI In and HDMI Out port. To connect the console to a TV, make sure the HDMI cable is plugged into the HDMI Out port [1:2],
[1:3]. This simple mistake can lead to no signal being displayed on the TV.
Check for Physical Damage
Inspect the HDMI port on the Xbox One for any physical damage. A broken or damaged port can prevent the console from sending a signal to the TV [2:1],
[2:2]. If the port appears damaged, it may need professional repair
[2:5].
Booting in Low Resolution Mode
If you're experiencing display issues, you can try booting the Xbox One in low resolution mode. This involves holding the eject button and tapping the power button, then continuing to hold the eject button until the console beeps twice [1:1]. This method can help resolve issues related to unsupported resolutions or GPU problems
[4:1].
Troubleshooting with Different Equipment
If the Xbox One still doesn't connect to the TV, try using different HDMI cables or ports on the TV to rule out faulty cables or connections [5:1],
[5:2]. Additionally, cleaning the HDMI ports with compressed air might help if they are dusty or dirty
[5:1].
Potential Hardware Issues
In some cases, persistent connection problems might indicate hardware issues such as a failed hard drive or other internal components [5:3],
[5:7]. Leaving the console running for a few minutes might prompt it to boot or show an error message, helping diagnose the issue
[5:3],
[5:4]. If these steps don't work, consider seeking professional repair services.
So I have a xbox one from someone as a hand-me-down. I’ve had it for about 5 years and the last time I played it was about a year ago. I tried to hook up my xbox a few weeks ago and it wouldn’t connect. The box was on, but it wouldn’t show up on screen. I thought the HDMI cable was the culprit but when I tried to use a HDMI cable that ik works (cause I use it for my roku), it still doesn’t show up. What may be the reason why? I didn’t see any visual defects with the HDMI port. But it’s mildy infuriating.
Edit: It was also on the right input setting.
I see your edit but does that mean it's in the proper port, HDMI out on the back of the Xbox and not the in?
there’s only two ports in the back correct? cause i put it in both to try and neither worked.
Right, the Xbox One can pass an HDMI signal through it, so there's an In port and an Out port that goes to the TV.
Make sure it's on the Out port and try to boot it up in the lowest resolution mode: hold the eject button and then tap the power button, keep holding eject until it beeps at you twice.
It's an OG Xbox One, yeah? The kind with the external powerbrick to power it up, not just a single cord that runs to the console? If it was an Xbox One S (instead of an OG), not having a display is quite common: either the HDMI port can get cracked, OR if there's no video signal and it powers down by itself after a few moments, that's its death knell, you've got serious issues then.
Check the hdmi port on the back of the xbox fir teo things. 1. That its not damaged 2. Make sure the cable is plugged into the hdmi out port

Hi! I was gifted and xbox One S, and it turns on and off, but I can't get it to connect to the TV via HDMI. Not sure what's going on, I've tried more than one TV, and it just keeps saying no signal and won't connect!
The HDMI port is very likely broken
Is that an easy fix?
If you take it to a reputable shop, pay their price and let them do the work

Post a clear photo of the HDMI port, it's probably broke and will need professionally replacing.
Xbox one s wont connect to hdmi. Tried 2 different hdmi cords and 2 different tvs. What to try next?

Is the HDMI port damaged? Are you using the HDMI out port?
Hi so basically last night I was playing on my Xbox one s and out of no where it disconnected from my tv and said unsupported mode, so I tried everything i could and this is as much as I could accomplish, I tried resetting everything, unplugging everything, leaving it overnight, changing my resolution, bought a new hdmi cable, tried a different tv and nothing is working, is my Xbox cooked or is there a fix?

Unplug the TV itself for a few minutes then plug it back in. It honestly looks like the GPU is having an issue though.
My Xbox one s isn't showing anything on the TV I have no idea if this could be linked to the problem I have before and still currently have where the Xbox is running extremely slow.(just my theory)
I have tried many different hdmi chords and all of them didn't work I have even try to change it to a different hdmi channel the TV works perfectly fine with chrome cast and bell.
I really hope this isn't a hardware problem.
BTW if this is any help the Xbox is running and I can feel the fan blowing wind.
Try new HDMI or try new tv…. I would recommend getting an air can and cleaning your xbox cause my brother It looks gross asf
People are saying HDMI but I actually just had this problem, leave the console running for 10 minutes and it should either boot or show an error, unfortunately for me and I hope not you it's because my drive failed
Man I wish either of those would work the best attempt for it to possibly work was when I factory rested(holding down the eject button link and power button) but then I couldn't boot up any of the games I wanted to play and then the problem came back full circle 😔
Oof, sounds like you need a new HDD, or to upgrade to an SSD, make sure you aren't in the insider program
Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes and the menu or logo should appear on the screen. If in that period of minutes it does not show anything, it must be a part of the device that is at the entrance of the device. Patience
Either cable, TV, or a very desperate deep cleaning is needed based on how brown that casing is
I had this issue with my switch. I bought a new HDMI cord and it was working again. Like others have suggested try blowing the HDMI ports with some compressed air (the console and the TV) before buying a new HDMI cord. Also try a different HDMI port on the TV and see if that works. It will narrow down whether it's the TV or not
So I found this TV in my garage and thought it was a good idea to hook it up to My xbox one
Any tips?
With a converter absolutely it is, won’t be pretty… but it will 100% work
I'd live to have that antiquated tech in my collection.
Crt tellivisions sell for crazy prices now days dispite their low quality video output.
Might get enough money selling that on ebay to be able to buy a similarly sized(or larger) hdtv
Really? Who would actually pay for this?
The truest way to experience warframe 1999
I just want it rdr2
For the cost of a converter you would be better off getting a new 32inch tv. It will look much better too.
Might be the lighting, but these ports look/feel rather dodgy to me. Why is HDMI crossed out? Did you buy it used? Was it stored somewhere wet for a while? Those discolorations feel like liquid damage to me.
I'd first try to spray some isopropanyl into the connector and try to gently clean it with an old (or new, your choice) toothbrush.
It looks like the output has a little snap in the bottom middle, if that’s the case it won’t make proper contact and won’t work
When my One X did this apparently a chip was broken in it.
If it won’t work that’s probably what happened
Do you not have eyes to look at the port? The one pic looks like the tongue is broken off on the "bottom".
Why is one crossed out? Is this a used and partially broken console? It looks dirty too.
Yes, your other (out) port looks broken.
Buying a new Xbox would be best.
-all cables work -just switched to a new SAMSUNG 4k UHD TV -worked perfectly on my old TV -game mode is not enabled
So whenever I try to watch videos on any APP (except YouTube oddly) on my Xbox one my Samasung TV stops and says it's trying to calibrate my picture settings to get the best quality. After a couple seconds of that it completely stops and says I've lost the signal from my Xbox one, I've tried a few things but so far nothing has worked
Any help is appreciated!
Sounds like a problem with Auto Low Latency Mode, turn off ALLM in Xbox video settings, manually enable game mode and repeat your tests with the apps.
You cannot retain the cables from an old TV, you specifically require what the HDMI group call a "premium high speed" HDMI cable (high speed cables are not good enough), the cable that came with the Xbox One S/X should be one of these, use that to connect to the TV.
Check that firmware on the TV is also up to date via it's built in internet update.
Hmm.. I’d try hitting up @XboxSupport on Twitter, this sounds like something they can possibly help with. Also, is r/techsupport an active sub?
Edit: yes
Sweet I'll check those out, thanks!
Still would love any other suggestions if anyone is able
It won’t connect to any TV, I tried new HDMI cords as well.
My controller won’t connect to it so my Xbox just sits on unable to be used
It’s in the right hdmi slot? While the controller was blinking you pressed the pair button on the console?
Yes it is and yes
Try a hard reset too? First I’m hearing about this tbh
Oh so it was working before? Try plugging it in a different tv or monitor and see what happens
I just bought a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and was wondering if there is a way that I can wirelessly connect my Xbox to it. I have the adapter plugged into a projector and this would just make it so convenient.
I wonder if that would work? It doesn't mention working with Xbox, so probably not.. but it would be nice.
No. But you can buy a wireless hdmi adapter that should work for that.
Are they any good though? The ones I've seen are too pricey to make it worth while
They add too much latency for gaming
Even playing normal video over WiDi has latency compared to the native display. I couldn't imagine trying to game over it.
Yes, but not until 2030
If you stream your xbox onto a PC using the microsoft/xbox app, you can connect the display to the PC using the MWDA. It would work. It would be SUPER LAGGY. But it would work.
Edit - Or you could use a HDMI capture card to plug the xboxone directly into the PC, then display it using the MWDA. Less laggy. Probably.
