TL;DR
Popular Platforms
Several platforms are frequently mentioned for purchasing last-minute sports tickets. Gametime is noted for its ease of use, though availability can be limited close to the event [1:1]. SeatGeek is highly recommended, especially for MLB games, as it often offers better deals than buying directly from teams
[2:1]. Ticketmaster is also a common choice, particularly for larger events like playoff games
[3:4],
[5:4].
Timing and Pricing Strategy
Purchasing tickets at the last minute can sometimes lead to discounts, as sellers look to offload unsold tickets. However, this strategy carries risks, especially for high-demand games where prices might not drop significantly [3:1]. Some users have successfully purchased tickets shortly before the game starts, finding lower prices as tip-off approaches
[3:2]. It's important to be flexible and ready to watch from a nearby location if prices don't meet your budget
[3:2].
Alternative Methods
In addition to online platforms, reaching out to friends, family, or acquaintances can be a viable option for last-minute tickets [4:1]. Team-specific message boards can also be useful for finding or selling tickets
[4:1]. For those looking to sell tickets quickly, services like joinbackstage.com offer instant cash offers for unsold tickets
[4:3].
Considerations
When using apps like Gametime or StubHub, be aware that issues can arise, such as tickets not selling or technical problems [4:4]. Additionally, some platforms may list prices in USD, which could affect international buyers
[5:1]. Always double-check ticket details and platform policies to ensure a smooth transaction.
Trying to score a ticket to the game tonight so I can support the boys. What site gives the best deals for last minute tickets?
Gametime is pretty good but options are running thin right now.
What’s the best way to get tickets … I want to get close … should I wait until day of? Any advice would be welcome. Thank you for taking your time to help.
Ive gotten great deals thru seat geek. Usually the closer to the game the prices go down. Ive been 1st row behind home dugout for 70 bucks
This. Seatgeek is the best. Its also the official MLB ticket marketplace. I wouldn't buy direct from the Marlins as secondary is usually a much better deal unless its one of the bigger names in town. If it is a mid-market team you should be able to get great seats for under $50 all-in.
Just wondering how doable is it to purchase tickets last minute for a playoff game? I’ll be in the city on Saturday for an event and would love to swing game 1 as I rarely get to watch them live. Is it possible to buy third party tickets shortly before the game or are they insanely over priced? Just looking for any guidance or experience if anyone goes more consistently.
Thanks!
I bought two tickets to game 1 against the Pacers last year roughly 45 minutes before tip off. There is some decline in resale prices as you get closer to tip off but not a drastic reduction. Basically, my buddy and I went to a bar near MSG and waited until prices hit a certain point and pulled the trigger. You have to be prepared to simply watch the game at the bar if prices don’t hit that threshold though.
omg how much did u buy them for waiting 45 mins before tip off?
It’s a toss up - usually it’s finding the sweet spot when tickets are lowest, but that’s usually not right before the game because everyone is waiting for that time. As a buyer, I’m trying to time that.
Big games like Game 1 are tougher because there’s more demand. But whenever you buy Knicks playoff tickets, they’re going to be expensive. Knicks are always expensive. I’d say at minimum you’d need $400 to spend for the least expensive ticket, and probably closer to $700-$800.
Disclosure - I have tickets on TM for sale for that game.
Appreciate the insight! My issue is definitely gonna be not knowing if I can even make it there until probably 4 pm that day. I’ll have to take the refresh approach with SeatGeek or TM or something and hope for the best lol
I run into this problem all the time – either I have a ticket I can’t use at the last minute or I decide last minute I wanna go to a game but I don’t have a ticket. I’ve tried apps like gametime and stubhub, but it feels like something always goes wrong or I just don’t end up selling the ticket at all. Do you guys run into this issue too? How do you usually handle last-minute tickets? Would love to hear what works (or doesn’t work) for you.
Me too! I had multiple tickets I listed not sell last football season. Need a way to sell last minute tickets
Problem solved! Submit your ticket details at joinbackstage.com/sell to get an instant cash offer. Get paid immediately instead of waiting weeks after the event! Let me know if you have any questions—I’m happy to help!
Friends, family, acquaintances, team-specific message boards
Hey Bomber fans looking for advice on the the best place to find last minute tickets to Bomber games? I live near by and can make it on short notice.
FansFirst
Gametime also sells resale tickets but keep in mind it’s in USD
I love Gametime for Jets (and other NHL) games but I find the selection is bad for the Bombers. Not many tickets and prices are a bit high.
Ticketmaster
I'm looking to buy for the games in Raleigh on Sunday. Should I wait until tomorrow to buy tickets once 4 of the teams are eliminated tonight? Or should I buy now? Thanks for any advise you may have!
How many are you looking for? If you only need one, absolutely wait. If you’re looking for you and a friend/family, still wait but maybe not as long.
If Duke loses, wait. If they win, probably won’t make a huge difference. Florida basketball fans don’t travel and duke is a small school with a small fan base in NC, they can’t carry that arena.
Also wait until late Saturday at the earliest. They won’t distribute the Sunday tickets to the winner until sometime Saturday afternoon.
What do you mean by distribute tickets? Which tickets aren’t available now?
Tickets to the teams. Winning teams today will be allocated tickets for Sunday. High seed for both games will be behind their bench, low seed is across from the bench. Ticket office will allocate them to their donors and transfer them at some point tomorrow. A few will end up on the second hand market. If you’re lucky, some of the old guys won’t know how to transfer them and they’re typically rich to afford these, so they’ll give you a deal if you just walk in with them. McNeese state fan gave me a free one yesterday and then got another old guy gave me a lower for $20 for St John’s session. Hoping i can have similar luck tomorrow.
Buying tickets day of is usually the cheapest option
Online or at site?
Either, but prefer online
What’s the best app or website to buy last minute tickets? Thinking about going to today’s game. Thanks in advance
Any of them. TM, StubHub, seat geeks etc
Just got mine yesterday to attend todays game
Ticket master
TickPick I heard game time is weird sometimes
TickPick, SeatGeek, StubHub. In that order.
Looking for legit sites/apps besides Ticketmaster and Stub Hub to buy resale tickets right before the game. Also, when is the best time to score good seats at a good price? Is it a couple of days before, the day of, the night before, right before kickoff?
I appreciate any suggestions! Money is tighter these days but I still want to be able to support the Colts!
Idk what apps everyone uses but when I’ve used any app I’ve had the best luck the closer to game time.
I always lower my tickets 2-3 days before game day. Only sell on Ticketmaster. Private message if you want 600’s row 1 seats lol.
Got tickets this year? Looking for bears vs colts
I sure don’t. Sorry man.
I’ve seen the resale prices for this year and they are insane! Some people just want to watch the world burn.
Still available?
Unfortunately not. Sorry buddy.
Tickpick... No fees or extra cost. Just whatever the ticket is posted for and it is through Ticketmaster.
For what it's worth I checked my seats I had listed on ticketmaster and tickpick. Tickpick didn't have fees but marked up the tickets $100 more.
Good to know
I’ve had great luck with Gametime lately. If you’re ok with waiting until the last minute, a couple of hours before kickoff is usually the best time. People drop prices to not get stuck.
I will second this. It's been a great app across all sports. Highly recommend!

Thinking of going to the game today
Gametime app
TickPick
Buy them
I always buy my dodger tickets last minute, they’re usually cheaper. Lots of season ticket holders trying to sell them.
I usually use Gametime…with fees included, it usually comes out the cheapest. I usually check that or seat geek. Often times they have the same tickets listed on both and I go with the cheapest,
how to find last-minute sports tickets
Key Considerations for Finding Last-Minute Sports Tickets
Ticket Resale Platforms: Use reputable resale websites like StubHub, SeatGeek, or Vivid Seats. These platforms often have last-minute deals as sellers look to offload tickets close to game time.
Official Team Websites: Check the official website of the sports team or venue. They may release last-minute tickets or have a box office that sells remaining seats.
Mobile Apps: Download ticketing apps that specialize in last-minute sales. Apps like Gametime and TickPick can offer discounted tickets as the event approaches.
Social Media and Forums: Follow teams and ticket sellers on social media. Sometimes, they post last-minute deals or promotions. Reddit and other forums can also have users selling tickets directly.
Be Flexible: If you can be flexible with your schedule or seating preferences, you may find better deals. Consider attending less popular games or events.
Check for Promotions: Look for promotions or discounts offered by local businesses or sponsors that might include ticket giveaways or deals.
Recommendation: Set up alerts on ticketing platforms for your desired events. This way, you’ll be notified of any price drops or last-minute availability. Additionally, consider arriving at the venue early to check for any unsold tickets at the box office, as they may offer discounts as the event time approaches.
