What Redditors are Saying

How to Get Affordable Yankees Tickets

TL;DR

  • Buy tickets on the day of the game for potential discounts.
  • Use platforms like StubHub, SeatGeek, and Gametime for last-minute deals.
  • Consider less popular sections or games for cheaper options.

Timing and Purchase Strategy

Buying tickets closer to game day can often result in lower prices. Many users suggest purchasing tickets on the day of the game as prices tend to drop when sellers look to unload unsold tickets [1:3], [2:1], [4:7]. However, this requires flexibility regarding seating location. For high-demand games, such as those with giveaways or popular teams, prices might not drop significantly [1:5], [4:4].

Preferred Platforms

Several online platforms are recommended for finding affordable tickets. StubHub and SeatGeek are popular choices for resale tickets, with users noting that they have found good deals close to game time [1:4], [2:2], [4:4]. The Gametime app is also mentioned as a reliable option for last-minute ticket purchases [4:5]. Additionally, calling the box office directly can sometimes yield tickets at face value without additional fees [4:10].

Section and Game Choices

Choosing less popular sections or attending weekday games can help reduce costs. The 400 level seats behind home plate are noted for providing a decent view at a lower price [3:2], [3:4]. Games against less popular teams or during weekdays tend to be cheaper than weekend games or matchups against high-profile opponents [3:2].

Special Offers and Discounts

Some users have found success with special offers, such as Mastercard exclusives or passes for multiple games [4:2], [4:3]. Costco was mentioned as having field-level tickets bundled with food vouchers at a reasonable price [3:8]. Checking for these types of promotions can provide additional savings.

Transportation Considerations

For those traveling from New Jersey, taking public transportation may be more convenient and cost-effective than driving and parking. Options include using NJ Transit and the subway to avoid traffic and parking fees [5:1], [5:2]. Parking near Harrison Path Station and taking PATH to the Bronx is another suggested route [5:4].

ORIGINAL POST

Planning first trip to New York in a few weeks and hoping to buy two tickets to the Home Game on August 9th or 10th. Is it cheaper to buy online now or wait until day of or day before? We're interested in maybe the 120s section, but open to suggestions. Is it cheaper to buy now? Wait until later? After taxes/fees, it's looking to be about $160 each. Are the 200s section good too?

Any suggestions, tips, or advice on how to get cheaper tickets are greatly welcome. If any Yankees employees see this, then thank you too for the suggestions and tips!

After taxes/fees, it's looking to be about $160 each.

Oof, couldn't ever be me. There are much cheaper tickets right now in the 200s toward the outfield, or in the 400s right behind home plate!

In any case, I wouldn't expect a regular-season game against the sub-.500 Rangers to get more expensive as the date approaches, though they might not get all that much cheaper since it's a weekend series. Prices will drop day-of starting a couple hours before first pitch, but at that point you'll need to be flexible about where you're willing to sit.

It is always cheaper to buy the day of. They want to unload tickets and you avoid most fees. The obvious downside is you need to be open on where you want to sit. The 200's are good.

MLB has dynamic pricing so if you're buying directly from the team they will fluctuate based on how good/bad the team is doing, who they're playing, and probably who's pitching that day. StubHub is good for resale tickets if you aren't already checking there

There’s doing giveaways both those days so tickets might be a little more than usual.

IMO there are not really any bad seats in Yankee Stadium. Just buy day of 400 level tickets for like $10 and use the rest of that $160 to buy a single can of beer in the stadium.

Subway Series Cheaper Tickets???

Me and a few buddies want to hit up the Subway Series at the end of July, but ticket prices are OUTRAGEOUS. We can only go to the Queens leg of the series. Having trouble finding anything under $150 thus far. Anyone have any hacks to get cheaper tickets?

You’re probably right about buying closer to game day. I got tickets for $26 for the July 4 NYY-NYM game last year at the Stadium, 48 hours before gametime on Vivid Seats, but there were several other factors that could’ve dropped the price last year (two middling teams, Covid worries, etc). It’ll definitely be tougher to find 4+ tickets this year (I go with a large group of Yanks/Mets friends, turned into an annual tradition)

If you think that’s outrageous just imagine how stupid expensive it’ll be if they play each other in the World Series 😂

Yankees Tickets

My family of 4 will be traveling to NY on 8/7 for the first time and hoping to take my 2 baseball obsessed sons to a Yankees game. I just looked at tickets and they’re pretty expensive so was hoping some of you might have tips on how to get reasonable prices tickets, but still decent seats. Is it cheaper to wait until the day of to purchase? I’m a planner so that makes me uneasy, but if it will save a significant amount of money and still allow for seats with a great view, then I’m down. Any recommendations on where to purchase tickets? Also suggestions on where to sit in the stadium? Thanks for the insight!

weekend games + the Astros + the saturday game is Old Timers Day = higher prices. Not sure how long you're in town for but weekday games vs the Twins will be a little bit less expensive. The view from 400s isn't bad and is really your only choice if you're looking for tickets <$100 that aren't in the bleachers.

Saturday is Old Timer's Day so it will be more. See if there are still any seats in the upper deck behind home plate. Those are my favorite seats and usually reasonably priced. If not Ticketmaster, check Stubhub etc.

Don't equate upper deck with being bad seats. I legitimately LOVE sitting in the upper deck behind homeplate. It really provides a great view of everything. Section 420B is best, but 420A 420C and even 421 or 422 are fine.

1 upvotes on reddit
Exact_Classic7142 · OP · 2 months ago

Thank you for the insight on where to sit! I think the higher decks have great views as well, but my kids would love to be in foul ball territory. This is a once in a lifetime experience for them so I may just have to splurge on the tickets. Times are rough right now though!

Go right through mlb.com.

Sometimes you get deals. I’ve gotten $5 Yankee tickets in the past and this year, I bought an April Pass for like 10 games at citizens bank park for $60

Nah. In April they have a Mastercard exclusive. Shitty seats but they’re $5. Then just take the subway right to the stadium. You could watch that game for like $10 total

Yankees NJ

Hello Yankees fans. Is it better to take NJ transit and subway to a weekend game than drive and park? We are in Morristown near a train stop and have driven in the past but weekend traffic especially Sunday on GWB is unpredictable. What parking lots would you suggest. Thanks.

Train is always the right answer. Removes the stress of driving and parking.plus if they win the vibes around the departing fans is epic. Of course, if they lose the vibes are also entertaining (unless they lose to the Red Sox - then it can get ugly)

Generally speaking I'd say its just personal preference. Neither option is clearly better.

Which do you like better, being stuck in a parking lot and traffic, or being a bit of a human sardine in and while waiting for the subway? I haven't been to a game that ended when it was exceptionally hot in a long time, so that might be an issue, especially later in the summer, but the human sardine phase doesn't last that long. And if your stressed by driving in Manhattan and/or the thought of making a wrong turn and adding 20+ minutes to your trip circling a block, that is an issue as well.

We usually do NJ Transit and subway, but keep in mind there is some chance of disaster because it remains true that the subways sometimes have issues, sick passengers and whatever else. We had that once and missed a Judge home run in the first. But you could just as easily hit a huge traffic jam driving in.

Yankee Stadium hacks

I have to go to Yankee Stadium, and am in Farmingdale. Is it cheaper to drive and pay tolls & parking, or to take the LIRR, which will be peak fares at that time. Any good hacks for getting there and parking without pulling my hair out. I hate driving into the city. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: Thanks so much for all the great advice. We took the train, had a great time and got to see Arron Judge belt a 2 run homer. Good times.

Yeah, it figures, I just got two tickets less than 24 hours ago to the 17th.

After fees it was about $70 per ticket for section 425, but for front row seats against the defending AL Champs with less than 20% of all tickets still available when I bought them, I cant really bitch.

I'd have paid well over $100 for those seats, I havent been to a game since game 4 against the Astros in 2019

Edit: this is only for games between April 3rd and April 21st

Recently moved to the city -- any tips for casual (cheap) weekend games?

Posted by blackwhitetiger · in r/NYYankees · 3 years ago

Moved to the city recently and noticed a lot of games are super cheap for nosebleeds. I'd like to venture over to quite a few games, probably mostly on weekends, and am on the lookout for any tips for things that will make this doable without breaking the bank. Any places with $5 beers nearby, if there's anywhere in the stadium that has decent deals etc.

Also I will probably want to go to more games than my friends -- so if anyone is in a similar situation feel free to reach out and we can catch a game together!

Before the game I like Yankee tavern or the dugout. Dugout usually has coors or PBR for $4, the Taco Bell window in that bar also helps me eat before the game so I can avoid stadium food prices. Appreciation Post For All The Reddit Yankee Fans

Posted by Skye054 · in r/NYYankees · 2 months ago

I just want to thank everyone for posting their input on what to do when visiting Yankee stadium. My brother and nephew were visiting and wanted to catch a game while they were here. I spent weeks reading all the comments from past years. Lol The tricks I followed.

  1. Tickets: Waited last minute to get tickets. I used Seat Geek and I was able to get Jim Beam seats for only $54 each. The same seats were around 100+ a month before. If you add seats to the cart and add your email they will give you a 15% coupon within a couple of days. The tickets are automatically added to the app. The seats were the last row so there was no one behind us and easy access to the lounge. The view was awesome and my nephew enjoyed the all you can eat popcorn & soda. Lol The private bathrooms and padded seats were also a plus.

  2. Parking: We parked at the Concourse Plaza - 200 E 161st St. Paying was simple using our phone and it was $28 for 5 hours. It was an easy 10 minute walk. When we left we exited to the right and didn't hit any traffic back to the GWB.

Everything worked out perfectly and the experience was priceless, except they lost to the Guardians. Lol Thanks everyone! 💙

tips for attending a Yankees game

AI Answer

How to get affordable Yankee tickets

Here are some key considerations for getting affordable Yankee tickets:

  1. Official Team Website: Start by checking the New York Yankees' official website for promotions, discounts, or special offers on tickets.

  2. Secondary Market: Use reputable secondary market platforms like StubHub, SeatGeek, or Vivid Seats. Prices can vary significantly, especially as the game date approaches.

  3. Weekday Games: Attend games on weekdays rather than weekends. Tickets for weekday games are often cheaper due to lower demand.

  4. Promotional Nights: Look for promotional nights where the Yankees offer discounted tickets or special deals (e.g., family nights, student discounts).

  5. Last-Minute Deals: If you're flexible, consider buying tickets last minute. Prices may drop as the game time approaches, especially for less popular matchups.

  6. Group Discounts: If you're going with a group, inquire about group ticket discounts, which can significantly reduce the cost per ticket.
