TL;DR
Sandstone Outcrops
Silver ore is primarily found in sandstone outcrops. These outcrops are scattered throughout various biomes, including the Kelp Forest, Grassy Plateaus, and Red Grass areas [1:3]
[2:3]
[4:9]. Sandstone outcrops are distinguishable from limestone outcrops, which contain copper and titanium. The Kelp Forest is a particularly good area to search as it has numerous sandstone deposits on the ocean floor and around drop-offs
[2:1].
Reefback Leviathans
Another source of silver is the barnacles found on the backs of Reefback Leviathans. These large creatures often have blue spots on their backs where you can "break barnacle" to obtain either copper or silver [4:2]. Be cautious of Tiger Plants that may also reside on Reefbacks, as they can cause damage
[4:5].
Specific Locations
Some players have noted specific locations that are rich in silver deposits. The thermal vent area in the safe shallows is one such spot [2:2]. Additionally, the Creepvine Forest near the shipwreck contains sandstone chunks with silver, gold, and lead
[4:4].
Subnautica: Below Zero
For those playing "Subnautica: Below Zero," silver can be found in the Arctic Kelp Caves and the Thermal Spires zone. These areas also contain gold and silver deposits, but beware of hostile creatures like bonesharks [5:1]
[5:2].
By focusing your search in these key areas and utilizing the resources available in each biome, you should be able to gather enough silver ore for your crafting needs in Subnautica.
How do you get silver? It's been a pain in the mf arse to find some God damn second place Ore and its annoying! How do I find that damn thing (yes I'm new and yes I got the game for free in the ps4)
Same way you get gold. It's just a little less common. I still wind up with tons of it.
Sandstone outcrops
Different outcrops drop different Items, Sandstone one's are everywhere except safe shallows
Oki
Also a bucket load of silver, gold and diamond on one of the islands.
You can find it in sandstone outcrops
Sandstone stone crops!?!? This is gonna be painfull
Sandstone is really common in the kelp forest and red grassy areas
The best place I find it is in the North thermal vent in the safe shallows
Sandstone deposits. You find a bunch of them in the kelp forest and the grassy plateaus
around the vines towards the floor and if you find drop offs there's often ore deposits
Only in [BZ]
Nah, i've seen it in the lower areas of OG subnautica. Plus the lowest parts of BZ are like 1100 m, and OP is at 1241.
Lol, I haven't noticed it. Probably it was drilled before. No naturally occurring rare metals in OG Subnautica, besides big deposits.
Nah, i've seen it in the lower areas of OG subnautica. Plus the lowest parts of BZ are like 1100 m, and OP is at 1241, and there's no temperature gauge. This is OG SN.
And copper, too.
They say you can also find chopper
I really struggle finding silver, is there anywhere that you guys would suggest looking for it? I am in the relatively early game and can only 200m down.
You can actually find silver on Reefbacks. Just look for the bright blue spots on its back (you will receive the prompt to 'break barnacle,' and you will either get copper or silver from it. Just be aware that some Reefbacks can also have Tiger Plants on their backs.
Woah nice, can’t you use a propulsion cannon to get rid of tiger plants?
I haven't tried a propulsion cannon, but you can try to knife it away. You'd take a bit of damage doing it, but it will get rid of the plant (it's not worth it to plant their seeds, the Tiger Plants will actually damage your base).
Red Grass areas have easy to find sandstone. You can also find it in some of the areas of the Kelp if you're near one of the deeper areas. You can find it on the high walls around a mushroom forest -- if you've found one of those you've ranged pretty far.
I’ve seen the sunbeam explode and have put a beacon at the gun so I know the rough area of the mushroom forest
Creepvine forest around there is sandstone chunks with silver gold and lead
Find it in caves and in the area with the red grassy stuff near the ship it's in sandstone circle things like copper is in the limestone things. You get gold lead silver
In the grassy plateau or crash zone?
The grassy plateaus
Sandstone outcrops in the kelp forest, grassy plains, and caves in the safe shallows. Also the large blue barnacles on top of Reefback leviathans.
Thank you!
I need silver for basically everything. On my list is a seatruck (10), compass (2), rebreather (2), propulsion cannon (2) and a battery charger (2). I know for some reason silver, gold and lead all have their own nodes for some reason now and the only place I’ve ever seen silver is in the Twist Bridges Caves and I cant find anymore. Air is also a big problem. I have the big air tank.
Edit: Just after posting this I found another silver node in the Twisty Bridges Caves and it gave me titanium... looks like I need even more than I thought.
Edit2: I found a bunch in the Kelp caves, problem solved.
Arctic Kelp Caves, there are gold and silver deposits there.
There is also a bunch in the thermal spires zone. If you do not mind bonesharks. I made a scanner in that area and it helped a ton, especially if you get some magnesium
Silver will spawn with cobalt or gold, iirc. If you find cobalt or gold, silver might be nearby, though you are also likely to find gold + iron or cobalt + iron + nickel + silicon
Just keep searching using a Large Grid Ore Detector, looking for "ore spots". You can find them under ice, like in the image, but also under normal terrain with white-yellowish spots
I have found nickel silicon and magnesium
Also yeah that is a good idea... I'll do that
Could be silver, could be cobalt. It will be ore though.
there is things like cobalt and nickel, silicon and some iron
Ore detector max distance
silver & gold, usually
Got a drill? Plenty of silver hunks in the dunes and at the bottom of the underwater islands. I think there's also one not that far off the shore of spoiler mountain?
If not, start looking for reefbacks.
No drill, just started my run two days ago and need one silver for habitat builder, I’ll have a nose around the under water islands. I’m too much of a pu*** to go and kill a leviathan so I’d rather just get it from the sandstone.
Cheers anyway
On the walls on crevices in the seeweed forests or strewn around the great white plains with red seaweed.
Cheers
help
I assume you were in the kelp forest You can find sandstone chunks in the caves ther or outside a few on walls (similar to limestone)
Sandstone in the kelp or grassy plateaus. Or, barnacles on reef backs.
Go deeper.
These other comments are great, but you can find sandstone in the coral caves in the safe shallows. Just be careful not to get lost and run out of air in the caves.
Damn those are rare, can't find them !
Depends how deep you can go under my main base there’s quite a few of them and uranium too. But you will need a drill to harvest them.
That is exactly what i'm looking for, but where ?
My base is right next to the island with the BFG. Though be warned the depth there at is at about 500m
In the red grass area, ( I forgot what it was called ) look for the large pillars on them, there should be a 2-4 outcrops per pillar
Wait i meant the big things (The ones you collect with a drill arm)
In the >!lost river I think!<
