How to Get into the Aurora in Subnautica

TL;DR To access the Aurora, wait for it to explode and then enter through the front. Essential tools include a radiation suit, propulsion cannon, repair tool, laser cutter, fire extinguisher, scanner, and spare batteries.

Accessing the Aurora

The Aurora is not just decoration; it's an integral part of the game that you will eventually need to explore [1:6]. The entrance becomes accessible after the ship explodes, creating a path to the bow [3:1][4:2]. You can also find alternate entrances by exploring around the ship [2:5].

Required Tools and Equipment

Several tools are necessary to navigate the Aurora effectively. A radiation suit is essential due to the hazardous environment [4:2]. You'll also need a propulsion cannon to move debris blocking your path [2:1], a laser cutter to open doors [4:3], and a repair tool for various tasks [4:3]. Fire extinguishers are useful for dealing with fires inside the Aurora, although some spawn within the ship itself [4:4]. A scanner is helpful for collecting data, and extra batteries, food, and water are recommended for the journey [1:1].

Navigational Tips

When approaching the Aurora, be cautious of the Reaper Leviathans patrolling the area [3:3]. These creatures can be startling but are manageable if you're prepared. Inside the Aurora, you'll encounter puzzles and obstacles that require jumping and using your tools strategically [3:1]. Keeping your inventory as empty as possible will help you collect valuable loot during your exploration [3:4].

Alternative Entry Methods

Some players have found creative ways to access the Aurora before the explosion, such as using speedrunning tactics or finding maintenance hatches [3:2][3:6]. However, these methods are not typically recommended for standard gameplay.

By following these guidelines and preparing adequately, you should be able to successfully navigate the Aurora and gather the necessary items for your progression in Subnautica.

Small spoilers here but I'll keep it brief. The Aurora will open up and you can't miss it. You need the radiation suit, scanner, propulsion cannon, repair tool, fire extinguisher, and maybe laser cutter? Extra batteries and food and water too. Seamoth is helpful but not essential

Not at the very beginning of the game. At least, not without cheats.

Something will happen to create a way in.

You'll know it when you see it.

Be careful, though. Somebody loud is keeping watch over the way in.

That is technically not the main entrance. There is anothet elsewhere. There is also a tool you can use to clear this path.

  2. You could squeeze through by jumping

  3. I’ll give you a hint: there’s a tool that can clear the path by moving the debris

Other people have replied with how to get in, but as for the endless, repeated memes about scary reapers, yes there are some reapers hanging about and yes they can be startling, but they aren’t so bad. If you’re really that afraid, just let one kill you and reload so you can get it out of your system.

Get to the bow, after it blows up. There's a platform you'll be able to access. With a few tools, jumps, puzzles etc you'll be able to visit it. There's pretty much a laid out path once you're there, just mind the large screaming fishes around it.

You go through the front of the Aurora after it has exploded. You need a radiation suit too.

Front of the ship after it blows up

You will need

• Radiation suit

• Propulsion cannon ( to move crates etc )

• laser cutter ( cut open doors )

• repair tool ( welder )

I think that’s about it

Oh yeah

Not needed but kinda needed too

A knife because there’s these parasite things that go on your arm

Oh yeah propulsion cannon can instantly throw them..

Edit: also a fire extinguisher

( but the Aurora has some inside already anyways )

I was gathering resources for the moonpool and scanner room and my father walked in, asking what i'm doing. I answered and he asked to watch. After a while he asked me about the big metal thing on the surface and i explained that's the ship i arrived in. He asked me to approach it and i told him about my crippling fear of it. He then asked me to do it again and i tried to stall by overpreparing and charging everything, making tools I won't need, so on. Eventually i had to go and i, very reluctantly went on my way. I approached from the kelp forest, saw the water turn orange-ish and began making my way, shaking the whole time and looking with one eye. After a minute or so of driving, i heard the Reaper that patrols near the entrance. The screen began shaking violently. He asked about the long monster that creeped at the corner of the screen. I approached the wreck's entrance and quickly made my way inside, climbing to the surface. I took the first screenshot whilst im laughing and shaking. I made the second inside the PRAWN bay and when i finished my tour i took the 3rd and 4th screenshots. Right now i feel like a cat stuck on a tree. Sure, the journey up was fun boy, am i dreading the trek back.

I feel you dude. When I first played back in 2019-ish, I was so deathly afraid of the aurora that I refused to even swim in the general direction of it, let alone go inside it. It wasn't even the reapers that scared me, it was the pure size of it and the foggy water. Even 6 years later when I play through the game I only make one trip and it's just to get the essentials

So you never beat the game in your 400 hours?

And I feel what you mean about the inside of it. Honestly the inside is kinda disappointing cause it’s actually one of the safest places in the entire game minus the fires.

Like there are more immediate threats in the safe shallows then inside the aurora

Swim to the front of it, you'll be able to get through the fucked uo hull. To get in you'll need a propulsion cannon tho because the entrance is blocked and also you're going to want to yeet these pesky jumpy-crabby-bois

There is another entrance to the left of that one that doesn't require the propulsion cannon, but it makes it harder to find one story item.

You don't need one. There's another entrance on a higher level - you just have to jump over some boxes.

Through the front of the ship the first entrance you'll find needs the propulsion cannon but theres another entrance if you find this little black piece of metal that acts as a bridge which will lead you to an entrance where you dont need one and there should be a fire extinguisher on the ground that will let you get into that entrance

1 upvotes on reddit
[deleted] · 6 years ago

You need.

  1. Repair tool

  2. propulsion cannon

  3. Laser cutter (I think it's called that)

  4. Full radiation suit (gloves, mask and suit)

  5. Fire extinguisher

Things you should bring.

  1. At least 3 med kits

  2. A knife

  3. 2 or 3 spare batteries.

  4. A bit of food and water but you'll get plenty on the reck

Things you should know.

  1. You can only entre after a certain very obvious point

  2. Scary leviathans love to patrol the area

  3. Save PLENTY of inventory space as you'll leave the reck with a ton of epic loot

1 upvotes on reddit

  1. Swim to the aft-quarter of the Aurora. This is still in the safe shallows.
  2. Follow along the port side toward the front of the craft. This is still the safe shallows with some boxes, a few stalkers, and some sand-shark-cockroach things.
  3. The ground will eventually drop away below you. Don't worry, stay near the surface (5m is fine)
  4. Look in the distance for Sammy the Safety Reaper. If you see him, just relax and watch. He will almost certainly not come up for you so don't worry. Just watch how they move and remember that they are territorial. They aren't trying to kill you, they just want you to bugger off out of their area.
  5. As you swim forward some more, look to your right and you'll find some openings. There are small ones and big ones and it's ok to wait for a big one.
  6. Once you're inside the frame, you can relax. Sammy won't usually come up to the area outside where you are but inside you are absolutely safe from Reapers
  7. There are two flipped-down areas that work like ramps. You'll probably want the one on the left that will take you to the upper entrance. The one on the right is closer to the lower entrance. You can use either, of course, it's just a matter of convenience.

Of Reapers...

Yes they are playful and you can even dance with them. They are bloody dangerous but as with most things, when you understand them, that danger becomes manageable. Especially when pitting your strengths against their weaknesses.

This may or may not be spoilerish, depending on how you want to deal with leviathans. If you want to watch, study, and learn on your own, bail out of this post here; otherwise, read below for some tips on living happily and safely with leviathans.

Leviathans are fairly agile when they are swimming around but when they decide to attack, they have a charge behavior. When charging, they have a very limited ability to alter their course laterally, meaning they can't turn their head quickly. While free swimming you need good timing but with a seamoth or seaglide you only need to strafe a few meters and it will blow right past you.

  • When traveling, strafe left/right, up/down as you travel. Switch every 3-4 seconds. This constantly keeps you moving out of any target zone it may line up on. (left-up-right-down is easy to remember and never has you do an up-down into harms way)
  • When scanning, strafe+turn to create a wide circle.

You will never get nibbled by a leviathan if you follow this routine, and it's 100% effective with a seaglide behind the Aurora scanning cyclops parts, gathering scrap, and looting equipment boxes.

  • You can dance with leviathans by using a wide strafe-turn pattern, being sure to keep their angle to you at an oblique (so you may have to change depth or move forward to correct a shallow circle). The leviathan will do a few attacks and get frustrated -- ghosts are more persistent than reapers.

  2. Locate the Aurora:

    • The Aurora is located at approximately -250, -200, 0 in the game world. You can find it in the western part of the map.
  3. Approach the Ship:

    • Swim towards the Aurora and look for the entrance on the side of the ship. You will need to navigate around the wreckage to find it.
  4. Use the Propulsion Cannon (Optional):

    • If you have a Propulsion Cannon, you can use it to move debris blocking your path to the entrance.
