How to Repair the Aurora in Subnautica

TL;DR To repair the Aurora, you need a radiation suit, repair tool, laser cutter, and propulsion cannon. Enter the engine room and fix the four dark matter reactors.

Required Equipment

To successfully repair the Aurora, you'll need several essential tools: a radiation suit to protect against radiation, a repair tool for fixing the reactor leaks, a laser cutter to access sealed areas, and a propulsion cannon to move obstacles [2:2][4:4][5:3]. It's also recommended to bring spare batteries, medkits, and a scanner to maximize your exploration and safety [5:3].

Repairing the Reactor

Once inside the Aurora, head to the engine room where you'll find four dark matter reactors with visible damage. Use your repair tool to seal the cracks on these reactors [4:1][4:3]. This will stop the radiation leak, and after a few in-game days, the radiation will dissipate completely, allowing you to switch to other suit options [3:5][3:6].

Navigating the Aurora

Getting into the Aurora can be challenging due to obstacles and enemies. While a stasis rifle isn't necessary, it can help keep reapers at bay [4:7]. A propulsion cannon is crucial for moving boxes blocking your path [4:2]. Additionally, using steel beams as bridges can help navigate certain areas [4:8].

Additional Tips

Inside the Aurora, you can find various resources like water, nutrient blocks, fire extinguishers, and batteries, so it's wise to conserve inventory space [5:1][5:2]. Be prepared for minor threats like bleeders and biters, which can be managed with a knife or avoided [5:4][5:10]. Save frequently to prevent losing progress due to glitches [5:2].

ORIGINAL POST

Okay so my last needed achievement is to fix the Aurora, and I can never get there fast enough. Idk where to go to get all three seamoth, Lazer cutter, vehicle station to even do so. It's irradiated so the seamoth is needed. Lazer cut one door and parkour over the crates. I'm stressed that this is the last thing I need to do ... :/ Pls help

Why did you think you needed to repair it before it exploded? Lol. Repairing it is part of the natural progression of the game anyway, so I'm really confused to how you completed all the other missions and missed that one.

You don't need to repair it to finish the game, ergo I did just that which is why I missed it.

Ah I never realized that. I always found the radiation too annoying to ignore, but yeah, I suppose it doesn't really reach anywhere that matters for progression.

so, i don't even know if i did something wrong or what, but there's this massive zone surrounding aurora that's radioactive, and i get hurt anytime i enter it. i'm wearing my radiation suit + gloves and everything, but my health still goes down. i looked it up, and apparently i have to fix aurora's radiation leak. i got onto the ship fine (besides having to use 5 first aid kids), but after cutting open the sealed door to the left of the seamoth bay, the door that im supposed to repair after that is completely glitched. i extinguished all of the fire, and i made sure i was using the repair tool, but there's nothing saying i can repair the box on the left side of the door that allows me to open it. i'm sorry if this is a little wordy, i'm kinda upset that it's not working. do you have any advice on how to make my health not go down/how to fix the door? thank you, everything is much appreciated :)

Aurora Repair

I've been away from the Aurora for a while now, PRAWNs scanned and drive cores fixed. Does the radiation coming from the Aurora completely go away or just reduce to a specific level?

I know this is not my thread but i´ve been meaning to ask. Is there a way to prevent the core to explode?

27 upvotes on reddit
Tony91o · 6 years ago

First time I played through Subnautica (survival), I got the blueprint for the radiation suit before it exploded. I didn't think much about the Aurora until the lady voice told me it would explode in 24h, unless something was done. So naturally since I had the suit blueprints, I quickly gathered what I needed to make it, went to the Aurora, fixed it, and no explosion. I didn't want the environment getting more destroyed than it already was. Might have been a bug, because on my second playthrough I had 0 chance getting there before the explosion, cause I only got the blueprints for the radiation suit after it went kaboom.

[Spoilers] how to repair the aurora’s reactor?

Posted by RJ0398 · in r/subnautica · 5 years ago

How to repair the Aurora’s reactor.

I’m new to the game so I’m sorry if this is all wrong! The computer told me that radiation will “permanently change the area in 24 hours” unless I repair the reactor on the ship. At that stage I didn’t have a repair tool so I went to get one, came back and was killed by the reaper. I respawned, went back to the ship to find that I don’t have a stasis gun(?) to move boxes. So I’m assuming I missed the 24 hour window no idea where the gun blueprints are, haven’t come across them yet. Again, I’m new. I’m sure the game is successful because of the people who love this style of game but I feel like I’m smashing my head against a wall with the lack of direction! Only having 24 hours to repair the ship when I hadn’t been anywhere near the ship at that point. Does this mean my game is permanently changed? Thanks in advance.

It will just begin the spread of radiation in dramatic fashion after the 24 hours, your system gives you a schematic for the radiation suit (super easy ingredients) so it's not really a big deal except that the helmet prevents you from using the rebreather. You can still go in and repair the core after, the radiation will cease too.

The propulsion cannon, fusion cutter, fire extinguishers, flashlight, repair tool, and knife (death to all spiders!) are must haves for getting the most out of the ship, I would take a few batteries as well, and as far as the reaper goes, hug the wall of the Aurora swimming on the surface on the way and turn right as soon as you can near the end, it'll put you right next to where you need to be and if you're swimming top side, the reaper shouldn't bother you. Best of luck in your aquatic adventures!

Also, finding the blueprints can really just be as easy as following radio transmissions, scan EVERYTHING, but there are guides out there to tell you where to find specific blueprints if you're fed up.

Honestly you get so much from all over the ship and in the galley storeroom I normally find myself consuming the water & food I find on the aurora just to make room for the other stuff I find. My normal starting supplies are 2-3 batteries, 4 med kits, propulsion Cannon, Lazer cutter, repair tool, scanner, knife, & radiation suit. Plus either my seamoth or sea glide just to get there. You will need fire extinguishers but you can usually find them on site if you look around.

As a side note it's easy to glitch into the walls and get stuck there so I save pretty often especially when entering or exiting the water

Radiation suit, laser cutter, repair tool, medkit, spare battery, propulsion cannon.

I’d bring 3ish bottles of water to be safe. You don’t need much food as you can find nutrient blocks on the Aurora. You can also find spare batteries, fire extinguishers and water but honestly I always bring a spare one just to be safe. It’s easy to miss stuff with all the chaos.

Edit: Forgot to say scanner. That’s a must everywhere you go.

There are bleeders in the engine room that can be kind of annoying. A grav trap would pretty much keep them off you while you work to fix it, but it's really not necessary - they do very little actual damage, just cut them off and keep going.

It doesn’t actually, at least I’ve never experienced any damage on the life on the planet. It’s maybe just a message to encourage you to fix it faster, anyway I recommend you to follow your instincts and do whatever you feel must be done, because there may be things that are useless, or things that must be done or will cause serious problems, but you don’t want all of that spoiled

You can find fragments on Grassy plateaus, there’s a wreck that can be accessed by a breach on it which contains I think at least two fragments, the others are scattered around the same biome. Also if you don’t want it spoiled, try to get the cutter first and try to repair the ship

I
izodine · 2 years ago

Making a couple assumptions here based on your replies:

-you have the cyclops and prawn unlocked -you have the Seamoth depth maxed out -you have visited all lifepods and received a transmission about how to escape the planet

Look at your PDA. You should have an entry called "alien facility locations".

This is collected after trying to shut off the QEP. It's under the codes and clues section.

This gives you the depth and general location of facilities required to progress the story.

If you're unsure where to go and just want an answer go to lifepod 2. There is a giant cave nearby that takes you to a place called the lost river. Explore that area.

There is also an optional side story following the Degasi crew, which you start at the floating island. There is a pda hidden away on one of the paths that takes you to their next location.

First things first, it would be great if there was a way to fix the onboard fire suppression system. Aurora continues to burn throughout the entire game and seems to get worse over time. I’m not even sure what is left to burn by the end of the game, there couldn’t be that much flammable material in the ship that the fires continue to burn for a month or two.

It would also be nice if you could install ladders to reach places you otherwise cannot go, or at least make entry points for places that you can go. Swimming through that underwater tunnel to get to the lab is one of the riskiest tasks while exploring. It is disappointing that you get there with a full inventory and have to choose what to take, or you have to make more trips to collect everything.

What I really wish was that I could go on board Aurora and salvage materials. It is interesting that the concept of the game lets you scan the prawn suits hanging in the ship, but you cannot take them down and use them. They all seem to be intact, you just have to put out the fires below them. A Prawn could probably bust open a door to get out, although it would be challenging to get it back to your base from there.

I also hate the items that you can pick up but not make yourself. Duffel bags that take up 4 spaces in inventory, cannot be picked up when filled, and cannot be scanned for blueprints. Wall lockers that would look nice in a base. Assorted toys, posters, and Aurora models, only one in LP 7 can be fabricated. Lab equipment that is decoration but otherwise useless. I guess those would go against the concept of using your fabricator primarily to make survival equipment.

The plasteel for just the front is 200 titanium and 40 lithium. It costs 3 plasteel and some other stuff to make a cyclops and the cyclops is 54 meters long so…. Yeah your right but the reason it’s cheap is because when making this I thought it was actually too expensive I just wanted to make it a manageable price.

Repairing the Aurora in Subnautica: Key Steps

  1. Locate the Aurora: The Aurora is the large shipwreck you see when you start the game. It is located in the northwest area of the map.

  2. Prepare for Radiation: Before entering the Aurora, you need to craft or find a Radiation Suit to protect yourself from radiation exposure. You can create a Radiation Suit using:

    • 2 x Fiber Mesh (crafted from Creepvine Samples)
    • 1 x Lead
  3. Gather Tools: Bring a Repair Tool, which you can craft using:

    • 1 x Silicone Rubber
    • 1 x Cave Sulfur
    • 1 x Titanium
  4. Enter the Aurora:

    • Use the entrance on the side of the ship (you may need to cut through doors with a Laser Cutter if they are sealed).
    • Be cautious of hostile creatures inside.
  5. Repair the Radiation Leak:

    • Once inside, head to the Prawn Bay and then to the Reactor Room.
    • You will find several breaches in the reactor. Use your Repair Tool on these breaches to seal them.
  6. Complete Repairs:

    • You need to repair a total of 8 breaches to stop the radiation leak completely.
  7. Return to Safety: After repairing, exit the Aurora and ensure you have enough oxygen to return safely to your base or the surface.

Takeaways:

  • Ensure you have the Radiation Suit before entering.
  • Bring a Repair Tool for fixing the breaches.
  • Be prepared for hostile creatures inside the Aurora.

Recommendation: Focus on gathering resources early in the game to craft the necessary tools and suit. This will make your exploration of the Aurora much safer and more efficient.
