How to Grow Cherry Blossom Trees in Minecraft

TL;DR Ensure ample space above the sapling, provide light, and avoid obstructions directly above.

Space Requirements

Cherry blossom trees require a specific amount of unobstructed space to grow. According to the Minecraft wiki, you need a 5×5 area of unobstructed space that is 8 blocks high above the sapling (9 blocks including the sapling itself) [4:2]. This means no blocks, leaves, or other obstructions should be directly above the sapling within this height range. If there are cherry leaves above the sapling, it may prevent growth due to a known bug [4:1].

Light and Time

Providing sufficient light is crucial for the growth of cherry blossom trees. Ensure that your sapling is planted in an area with adequate lighting. Additionally, spending enough time in the chunks where the saplings are planted can facilitate their growth [4:3][4:4].

Biome Considerations

While cherry blossom trees can generally grow in any overworld biome given the right conditions, certain biomes might affect their growth rate or success [5:2]. Make sure to plant them in a clear, flat area to maximize their chances of growing successfully [5:1].

Bonemeal Usage

If your cherry blossom tree isn't growing naturally, applying bonemeal can expedite its growth. However, ensure that all space and light requirements are met before using bonemeal to avoid wasting resources [4:1].

By following these guidelines, you should be able to successfully grow cherry blossom trees in Minecraft.

The leaves would look like a light pink jungle leaf block, and would occasionally make particles similar to the leaves falling off.

Also I’m not great at expanding ideas so please give me some ideas that would add on to this and I might repost and improved version for proper voting.

If there was a new biome I think it should have a softer green color for the grass and should have special pink flowers. And for the trees, i think they should have branches like some oak trees and the wood color should be reddish brown. And the leaves should hang down like vines in certain places.

Chery Blossom vines (like the ones you find on the side of jungle trees) hanging off in places

Yes, that sounds good. That actually reminds me of an idea to do something with mycelium.

Re-posting in the past month from your previous post is not allowed. The only exception is an absolutely necessary change to the title, and to be clear changing the title just to post an updated version is not allowed. You will either have to wait a month before posting it again, edit the description of this post, or in the future do all of the necessary brainstorming and fleshing out elsewhere before posting here.

> I'd love to see more wood types. It would defiitely improve many builds. However, since Minecraft is global, some features should be thought out carefully to prevent certain people groups from pissing off. Have a look at this video, and you'll understand what I mean. Even though cherry blossom trees don't have a known origin, the connotation associated to the country, especially the one with colonial history, may make some people feal a bit bitter, so keep your comic book and video scene recreations personal.

This is a comment I left from a post 2 weeks ago talking about the exact same topic. In short, some features should be thought out carefully.

Courtesy of the wiki.

"A cherry tree requires a 5×5 area of unobstructed space 8 blocks above its sapling to grow (9 blocks including the sapling itself). No horizontal clearance is needed at the base of the tree (a sapling planted in a hole 1 block deep can still grow). Their growth is not hindered by logs, leaves or saplings.

A cherry tree grown from a sapling and within 2 blocks of a flower has a 5% chance of having a bee nest containing 1–3 bees."

There shouldn’t be a problem if there’s no other cherry trees already grown. Give it time or spam bonemeal, it will grow. But if there is cherry leaves above the sapling, there is a bug where it will not grow. Hope this helps

Yes. You can plant any overworld sampling in any overworld biome and it should still grow given enough space and light for that tree type to grow.

Odd_Ad_9779 · OP · 1 year ago

Interesting, I fit all the requirements perhaps there was a block blocking it. I’ve tried everything and can’t get it to grow on the biome. Thank you. I will make a clear flat area for the tree and see if that helps

Just make sure there’s no leaves or other blocks anywhere directly above the saplings and you’re fine

do cherry tree petals naturally spawn back

per the wiki "Each time bone meal is applied to pink petals, the number of petals in the block increases by 1. If there are already four pink petals in the block, it will drop a copy of itself, similar to tall flowers.

Pink petals also generate when bone meal is applied to a grass block in cherry groves."

I thought they would spawn in my village when I planted saplings, but you have to collect them at a cherry blossom biome and then use bonemeal if you want to have more like Lunchbox was saying

It looks pretty fire! I love how it lights up! Try leaving more air and spaces between the leaves/glass to give a more fluffy look. Also try proportioning the trunk a bit more to make the leafy part feel more grand.

how to grow cherry blossom trees in minecraft

Growing Cherry Blossom Trees in Minecraft

As of the latest updates, cherry blossom trees are a beautiful addition to Minecraft. Here’s how to grow them:

Key Considerations

  1. Location:

    • Cherry blossom trees can be found in the Cherry Grove biome. If you want to grow them, you need to be in or near this biome.
  2. Saplings:

    • Obtain cherry saplings by breaking the leaves of existing cherry blossom trees. They have a chance to drop saplings when the leaves decay.
  3. Planting:

    • Plant the cherry saplings on grass or dirt blocks. Ensure there is enough space around the sapling (at least a 1-block radius) for it to grow.
  4. Growth Conditions:

    • Cherry saplings require light levels of 8 or higher to grow. Ensure they are exposed to sunlight.
    • You can use bone meal to accelerate the growth process. Right-click the sapling with bone meal to encourage it to grow into a tree.
  5. Tree Size:

    • Cherry blossom trees can grow to a height of about 5 to 7 blocks and have a wide canopy, making them visually striking.

Tips

  • Farming: If you want to create a cherry blossom grove, plant multiple saplings close together, but not touching, to create a beautiful area.
  • Aesthetic Use: Cherry blossom trees are great for landscaping and can enhance the beauty of your builds.

Summary

To grow cherry blossom trees in Minecraft, find or obtain cherry saplings, plant them in a well-lit area with enough space, and use bone meal to speed up growth. Enjoy the beautiful pink foliage they provide!
