TL;DR
TikTok Creator Fund
The TikTok Creator Fund is a direct way for creators to earn money based on their content's performance. However, it's not available in every country, and some users have reported that it doesn't pay much unless you have a large following [1:1]
[5:2]. To join, you typically need at least 10k followers and consistent engagement
[5:4].
Brand Deals and Sponsorships
Sponsorships and brand deals are a significant source of income for many TikTok creators. These opportunities often depend on your niche and follower count. Even with a smaller audience, you can start reaching out to brands that align with your content [1:3]
[5:5]. It's also common to see creators using affiliate links to earn commissions from sales generated through their content
[3:1].
Merchandise and Products
Selling merchandise or products is another viable option. This could be anything from branded clothing to digital products like e-books. Some creators have successfully used TikTok Shop or linked to external sites where they sell their products [1:3]
[5:1]. It's important to ensure that any sales strategy aligns with TikTok's guidelines to avoid suppression of your posts
[5:1].
Cross-Promotion and Other Platforms
Expanding your presence to other platforms like YouTube or Instagram can help diversify your income streams. YouTube, in particular, is noted for offering better monetization options compared to TikTok [5:4]
[5:9]. Building a following across multiple platforms can increase your appeal to brands and sponsors.
Live Streams and Gifts
While live streaming can be a way to earn money through gifts from viewers, it often requires showing your face and being comfortable engaging with an audience in real-time [5:7]. This method might not suit everyone, especially those who prefer creating content without appearing on camera.
In summary, making money on TikTok involves leveraging multiple strategies, including joining the Creator Fund, securing brand deals, selling products, and expanding your reach to other platforms. Each approach has its own set of requirements and potential challenges, so it's crucial to find what works best for your content style and audience.
Hello, over the past few months I’ve been really gaining a steady following with excellent engagement on TikTok (136k followers) and instagram (82k followers) and Facebook (38k followers) all pages are me and my personal content I create everyday just talking to the camera, but I’m wondering how I could possibly utilize this platform to actually make money? I see other people all over social media seeming like they’re all pretty financially successful, with some even having less of a following. So I’m just wondering what exactly are they doing and how they’re doing it? Of course I’m not on these platforms for a paycheck but if there was obvious ways to do so that I could be missing, any advice or opinions are welcome, thank you!
Doesnt tiktok have a program that pays creators?
Sponsorships, create your own shop, merch. There are lots of ways, depends on your niche. Just don't do crypto.
I’m in the exact same boat!
Good money from TikTok comes from good views and good views comes only if your content is related to a trending subject. There is also plenty of other factor to take in account. For exemple, if your video add a real commercial vallue, you'll get more money.
Now to make money, you need to join the Creator Program wich is not available in every country.
I'm a semi-professional dancer, but I'm in a country where you cannot join the TikTok creators fund, how do I monetise my account if so?
I don't think I'll ever reach the popularity level where I can get brand deals as this is just my side-quest / hobby. And I don't think anyone is gonna gift money just over dance videos as I don't plan to sexualise myself. I also don't think TikTok shop works well with a dance account, theres nothing you can really sell.
I'm not looking to make a living from TikTok, just some spare cash for my effort would be nice, to fund the clothes and studio bookings. But I don't see how monetising it would happen.
For clarity before giving my opinion, are you asking specifically on how to get TikTok to pay you or are you asking how to monetize yourself, even if it's not specifically on TikTok?
Any way to monetise is fine, doesn't have to be TikTok since my country isn't eligible for the creators fund programme.
That makes sense. I will share my thoughts but first, I just read this and thought I'd share it with you.

Could be a good angle of approach for you.
Build a following and find sponsors. If some of your following can transfer to youtube and you make content there as well that would be a way also.

Are you already making content?
No 😕
That’s where you begin. Figure out what type of content you would like to create (niche down) that you can monetize. Figure out if that niche can be monetized through getting paid by tiktok itself, affiliate links, products, services, brand deals, tiktok shop & affiliates, tiktok live etc and then start creating. Learn and analyze others that are successful within your niche. Always keep striving to make your content better.
Hi Tiktok help! :D I am ellesquishy! I've been a creator on Tiktok for years and have made a good living from it, and really love being able to share my knowledge and experience to help others!! Woooo. Now that we got that aside..
How can you earn money on TikTok?
There are currently quite a few ways to make money on Tiktok.
Tiktok has a few different programs for creators (even ones without a lot of followers) and there are actually quite a lot of hidden gems and valid ways to make money.
I’ll list the ones I’m familiar with:
Branded Missions - THIS IS THE BEST ONE IMO! As it requires little work, its fun, and has potential to earn a LOT. In the creator program, Branded Missions can become available. These are challenges (videos) that you make for free and submit to your page.. HOWEVER.. if the brand selects your video, they will provide views to the video & you will be paid depending on the amount of views given. I have made up to $5,000 off of ONE video at one point from this. The downside is if your video is not selected, you will have created a video for free.. but IMO it is well worth the attempt.
Tiktok Creative Challenge - This is another best one. Its currently fairly hidden within Tiktok’s system (I’m unsure why?) however, tiktok creators can select brands to creates ads for (UGC style ads). They then submit the ad to tiktok, and tiktok will run it. You then get paid based on the ad’s performance. There are creators making 5 figures a month off of this program. It does require a LOT of work as you usually end up creating 10+ videos a week, and it also takes some time to build up a lot of running ads. They’re also tied in with Tiktok shop and a lot of brands will send you products for free to make ads for.
( I am a mentor in the program, and if any establish creators want an invite, feel free to reach out)
Creator Rewards Program - Videos that are 1 minute long qualify to be a part of the creator reward program and earn income through view. However, the income is very small & a lot of views are required to earn a decent living. Anyone going this route, I would recommend finding a way to mass produce engaging entertaining content (for example: glass bottles rolling down a stairway & breaking was a popular form of content that was easy to produce & farmed lots of views)
Live Streaming - Another form of monetization could be live streaming. This requires consistency & determination, as live streaming can be mentally draining & one has to constantly engage with their audience & entertain them. You will want to form a brand, community, or strategy where people will want to subscribe or provide gifts.
Tiktok Shop for Creators - One of the best ways IMO to make money on Tiktok is through marketing different products and earning a commission based on sales through tiktok shop. This may require some investment (investing in a few products and creating videos to promote them), however, if done correctly, there is potential to make 6-figures a year+. There are quite a lot of agencies and resources to help get creators started, and I recommend finding a mentor or someone who has experience to help guide you.
I've also recently been requesting free samples of things I actually use from well known sellers & creating vids using those items. Its a great win win win.
Work With Artists - If invited to this program. You can earn a flat rate or part of a pool of money depending on the views you get for using a specific audio. This requires you to earn the views on your own, and the income is not ideal, but its another way to earn some money from Tiktok.
Brand Deals: Obviously, the most well known one is acquiring brand deals with outside companies who pay for you to create an ad/promote their product on your Tiktok page. I won't go into much detail with this because you can find a bunch of generic info out there!
THISSS! I make a living off of tik tok and it’s crazy how long internet money really is. I’m so glad u posted this to help others get motivated! Literally my life was changed within a month or 2.
Please help me I go live on tiktok but dont pay much. Can you help me get started on the other options
I don’t understand how yall are making money on TikTok
🥹 Aww, I loveee hearing stories of people lives changing in that way!! It really is amazing how we can change so many lives just by teaching and sharing information. 💕
I'm not sure what qualified someone to access Branded Missions, but keep trying to make quality content and real in followers! Even though these opportunities don't require a lot, most do require you to somewhat establish yourself a presence on the app, even if it's a smaller one.
I started in April, post regularly, have somewhat good engagement, multiple over 100k videos, multiple 50-75k, still at 8k followers because I think it’s really hard to convince people to follow nowadays because the FYP is saturated with follow train posts of people begging for followers. Feels like hard work to get to monetization but hopefully one day 🤭
I want to get better and understanding tiktok shop. UT everyone and their mom sells a course and it's hard to know who's legit 😅
I recently started posting regularly after doing it sporadically and accidently going viral. Since the viral video, I’m stuck at 700 views max. I really want to start making money with TikTok. I have an inoperable brain tumor and after 20 rounds of chemotherapy and 6 brain surgeries, the medical bills are insane, and only continue to get bigger. So anything I could make doing this would help so much with that.
Thank you so much for the amount of details you put into this. It’s extremely helpful. I’m saving this post for later.
My account is @mattieroseyo if anyone wants to give me feedback 💛
honestly, i was stuck making no money or views and a I tried "the daily virals" for the last 4 months as it finds the top creators' videos and products in one place that's updated daily. I just started copying and recreating the top videos as I knew they worked and I make at least $500 a week now which is wild to me. if you use it type "JACK" and you'll get a free month too which is nice they have that
Wow, I mean it I think you have soo much potential!! Your video quality is lovely & you definitely already got the tiktok vibe already (knowing how trends work, tiktok humor, etc).
This is going to sound so awful (because it is and I hate it) but it might be your girlfriend's.... "girlfriends" that are getting your video's suppressed. Social's media AI moderation is ridiculous at the moment. I noticed I cannot show any cleavage, legs, or belly button without my videos getting getting lowered in performance.
Of course!
I took a quick look through, and these would be my suggestions!:
Cut down on the memes/template (if not all together for a bit). Even though tiktok seems to encourage using them, I think they have a much harder time performing well. To me it seems you started posting memes, and now Tiktok is now showing your content to much of anyone because it's considering it as spam.
The best sort of Tiktoks are the ones with natural light, video style, and VERY expressive. Tiktok also tends to only want to push content where they're more confident it's original content & not copyrighted stuff (stuff you pull from google) A lot of your stuff is meme templates & google images (with your added text) so I think Tiktok is catching this and surpressing most content. A few things did seem to start enough conversation and engagement (amongst your nurse community) so it does seem like that didn't always matter.. but I also see some stuff of photos of you/what you ate in a day/etc that appears to hhave done way better than a lot of the more unoriginal image stuff.
SO after looking at that! I would say post more of the follow:
More what you ate in a day! Maybe do "What I ate in a day as a nurse working a x hr shift". Def theme any popular trends you do with being a nurse.
Show more of your face. I knowww this is hard for a lot of people who aren't use to it!! And if you don't feel comfy, I would suggest maybe trying some POV angles then or aesthetic faceless angles showing your hands/uniform/neck down etc or phone covering your face. Anything that helps connect people with that there is a real person behind the tiktoks/content they're seeing!
More photo slide shows/story times related to being a nurse using your photos! Looking back those seemed to perform well, so I would def start doing more photo style tiktoks using your own original photos (and not the same photo twice).
Soo TLDR!!-- Maybe start by doing daily "What I ate in a day as a nurse!" With a daily mirror selfie in uniform, and then a photo slide show of each thing you ate with a little story time/caption that goes with each photo. Add nurse themes/anything other nurses can relate to.. and I think you might see some performance!!
Thank so much for all this info! I’m currently stuck at around 7k followers 😭 I feel stagnant
Hello. I am new to Tiktok… I started uploading daily videos and i managed to build a quite big fanbase of active followers. I currently have around 2k followers. When can I start making money and how. I think I can make some money from Tiktok lives, but I am not really into that… can I join creator portal if I don’t show face in my videos and how do I do that. Also, I realised people can send you money through comments by sending you gifts, but that option is only available to people that have 10k followers. Anyways my question is if you can actually make some money as a small creator in a small country? There are also some bigger creators from my country but they mostly have around 20k followers and are doing tiktok for years now… Thanks in advance. 😊
You have to have a huge following to really make any money. 10k you can join creator fund if you meet the criteria. But I’ve heard it’s not much unless you get really big or do ads and stuff.
agreed, brand deals and moving to other platforms like youtube is usually where the money is
I personally made $1k in a day yesterday - my first day selling. My account was already restricted from posting a link in my bio, so instead, i was commenting my website in the comments and pinning it. Tiktok didn't alert me of it, but after 24 hrs it suppressed that, too - when using my other account, the pinned comment wasnt there.
Even better, the payment portal deactivated me account, too, because the purchase of my ebooks looked like spam.
You can make a shit ton of money on tiktok. They just don't want you to.
TDLR; I am fuming like mad mad mad lol. You can make 6 figures if your product is good but you will be suppressed by every company you meet in the name of "spam/fraud protection"
they only want you making money through the creator fund, which pretty much keeps you dirt poor and makes the community guidelines 100x tighter for you to adhere to.
What do your think about putting paypal or cashapp in the tiktok bio?
Yeah you’re not gonna make any money at 2K followers. If you can get up to 20 or 30 K you might make some money partnering with a couple brands depending on what your content is based on. I wouldn’t sign up for the creator fund. It’s a fucking joke. They’ll rip you off and they will suppress your views. YouTube is where the money is.
Tbh ur not going to make any real money at 2k followers, heck I’m on 150k followers and have only earnt £700 in 18 months
You could earn money from lives but u would almost certainly have to show urself
You are doing bad, start to sell your tiktok audio and accepting brand, with 150k followers you can get 15/20$ for songs used in your tiktok and 100/200$ brand deal
I can’t, that’s not the sort of videos I make
Woah How?
What, how did I get 150k followers?
You make money by offering a real service that people want.
Over the last decade in content creation and digital marketing, I've seen many platforms rise and fall, and TikTok is no different. If you’re considering monetizing this platform, it’s important to take a grounded approach rather than chase every trend.
First, choose a niche that resonates with your past experiences. Reflect on the challenges your target audience faces. What keeps them up at night? This understanding is crucial because it shapes the content you’ll create.
Next, jot down these pain points. What are people struggling with? Once you have that list, consider starting an email marketing campaign. A solid lead magnet, like a free class or exclusive content, can do wonders for building your audience. Make sure to address real issues that your audience encounters.
Now, about that landing page. It should speak directly to the specific pain points you've identified. Don’t forget a thank-you page that encourages follow-ups and builds a relationship with your new contacts.
Consistency is key, so make content creation a regular part of your routine. This visibility is essential on a platform like TikTok, where the algorithm favors active users.
Finally, look into monetization strategies. This could be through affiliate marketing, sponsorships, or even selling your own digital products. Don't be afraid to share tips and advice in the comments — real engagement can turn your followers into customers.
I’m curious, how have your experiences shaped your approach to creating content on platforms like TikTok?
Delete TikTok and find a real job.
Exactly. It’s not in any way a steady source of income. If you want to be a successful content creator, do YouTube or stream.
Or you know, realize trying to be a successful content creator is a pipe dream for 99.99% of people and invest your time in something worthwhile that will actually make you money long term, such as a trade.
Use TikTok to sell feet pics
lol that’s a horrid idea
What? Nah. It'll be fine. Trust the process.
Steal content from live streams and claim it as your own. TikTok is trash and people it all the time.
Consistency is key Post regularly about Unique talents or skills you have, engage actively with your followers and use trending hashtags Remember, don't chase the money, chase the passion. The money will follow. Good luck!
Looking for all ways to monetize TikTok.

Looking for more :)
Well, decide what your niche is and just make content. I feel like if the content is there, you’ll grow on tiktok. I feel like what I’ve seen work best is the Gary v method. Interact with other similar accounts that you enjoy. Give value and then here and there plug what you want to promote (follow my IG or YouTube). I mean if your only goal is to sell the account then you should target to sell within the niche you created but honestly I wouldn’t sell. If you build something great keep it and expand on it. I know some people have joined the tiktok creator fund but unless you’re kicking out viral videos like Charlie, it would be very small money gains. Going live on tiktok and having your Venmo posted is the easiest way as tiktok takes like 60% I think? I could be wrong but it’s a nice chunk. Basically if you do this and do it right, it’ll be a snowball effect and you’ll check all the boxes. Just focus more on engagement though rather than worrying about follower numbers.
>Going live on tiktok
You mean do live broadcasts on TT?
Yeah like once you hit 1k you can go live on tiktok just like you would on Facebook or IG
As an artist, when someone makes a video with your song, it’ll count as a stream as well
So you can apply your music for TikTokers to use, and you get a modest royalty when they do?
Join up with a few other accounts in your niche and make a merch website that exploits that niche. if you see any traction, then invite other accounts to come in on the agreement that you take a small % of their merch.
Ideally you own and operate the website 100% but can still make them "partners".
Oh! Good ideas.
Bumping :)
Can you elaborate a wee tiny bit more?
bump is an old internet term simply meaning I’m lifting your thread for visibility since I’m interested as well
I am on TikTok for almost 3 years and I earn mostly from brand collaborations and promoting smaller creators. From personal experience, I can say that you definitely need followers and views if you want to earn on TikTok. In the beginning, to grow my account I used services like Marketing Heaven and their TikTok packages to gain credibility. I improved my reach so I could also start earning through affiliate marketing. Now, with 70k followers and about 2 million views per month, I earn over $1k monthly.
I’ve considered trying to post content on TiK Tok to make a side hustle, but wondering if it’s more risky to put your face/personality out there in hopes to start making money.
there is essentially no risk from being on tiktok. A billion people use it and tens of millions have posted on it.
No one is sitting around waiting for you to post your face so they can do something to you.
On the other hand - tiktok is not supposed to be very good for making money. Youtube remains the best way to actually make money.
Depends on what you do. Digital footprints exist. Don’t act like a fool or a dickhead, and you should be fine.
This is like asking if it's realistic to make money with an MLM or by scalping goods. You might be able to, but you'll probably be hated for it.
you can do it if you want, yes after a while you can monitize your account
There are plenty of Pros and Cons on Tik Tok (professionals and conment). But ultimately it's like any other social media - for every successful person who can make real money there's hordes of people who can't.
Hello, i live in norway and i have a tiktok account with my girlfriend, we have around 30k followers and 4 million total likes. When we post frequently we get around 10-150k likes on videos, some lower but we often get many likes. What would be the best way/ways for us to make money? I do not think the creator fund is available in norway and i think there anyways are better ways to make money but i’m not sure how.
Brand deals are the only way, basically. Or sell something.
