TL;DR Combine all expansion packs, adjust the deck size, and ensure enough special cards for the number of players.
Combining Expansion Packs
When playing Exploding Kittens with multiple expansions such as Imploding Kittens, Streaking Kittens, Barking Kittens, and Zombie Kittens, the key is to integrate the decks effectively. A common approach is to remove all defuses, exploding, imploding, streaking, and barking kittens from the deck, shuffle the remaining cards, and distribute them to players [1:1]. Adjust the deck size according to the number of players before adding back the special cards
[1:1].
Adjusting for Player Count
The number of special cards (like exploding and imploding kittens) should be adjusted based on the number of players. For example, with 5 players, you might use 3 exploding kittens and 1 imploding kitten [5:1]. Some players prefer to include all kittens regardless of player count, which can add more unpredictability to the game
[5:2].
Expansion Pack Details
There are several expansion packs available for Exploding Kittens. The main ones include Imploding Kittens, Streaking Kittens, and Barking Kittens [2:3]. Each expansion introduces new mechanics and cards that can change the dynamics of the game. Zombie Kittens is a separate game and not an expansion
[2:3]. Additionally, there are community-created custom cards that can further enhance gameplay
[4:1].
Gameplay Variations
Some players enjoy customizing their gameplay by removing weaker cards like Favor or See the Future to maintain a challenging environment [1:1]. Others mix regular cards and set aside special cards initially, proceeding with normal gameplay afterwards
[5:3]. It's important to adapt the game rules to fit your group's preferences and maintain a balance between strategy and fun.
Additional Considerations
If you're missing instructions or need clarification on how to play with expansions, the official website provides downloadable copies of the rules [5:4]. It's also worth noting that some expansions may be out of stock due to limited production runs
[2:4], so checking alternative sources or considering unofficial versions could be an option.
Can someone tell me how to play exploding kittens with all the expansions in one game I know that It explains how to play with streaking kittens and imploding kittens but it doesn't explain how to play it with barking kittens or they did and I'm blind if anyone can tell me that would be great
It's pretty much up to you. What I do (with usually 3-4 players) is removing all defuses, exploding imploding streaking and barking kittens from the deck, shuffle all cards and give hands to players. Cut the remaining deck to adjust it to the number of players(other wise it's too big) and add the special cards I mentioned in the beginning, than shuffle and start.
Some people prefer to remove weaker cards like favor, mark, see the future... I prefer a complete random deck.
Does it matter if I cut the deck
As long as there are enough exploding/implodong cards everything is ok. I just find it that with full deck players starts to horde too many cards and it take the element of being scard of the deck
I got the original Exploding kittens set, and I wanna get all the expansions, however between the many combo packs side games and everything, I'm so confused as to what to get. Can someone give me the comprehensive summary of all the expansion packs?
Also the website constantly says out of stock. I've been checking for months now and It doesn't seem to have stock. Any idea what's up?
Thanks for the help.
OK. What you wanna get in terms of expansions is:
Imploding Kittens.
Streaking Kittens.
And Barking Kittens.
Zombie Kittens is another game entirely, not an expansion.
The Party Pack bumps up the number of players, but can't be used with other expansions.
There is a Zombie Kittens expansion pack to just add the new cards from it to the main game.
They can be divided between 3 categories
-standalone expansions: these "expansions" are games that can be played by themselves or paired with the original base games. They have their own original cards but most are recycled from the base games and expansions. There are 2:
I think thats all
Do you know anything about why the website is always out of stock?
I think they run out of inventory forever. Unlike a company like mattel, they dont have the money or reach to manufacture hundreds of millions of products for a long time. I think they just created a few million and that was it. Sadly my games are unofficial copies that i got from ali express because in my county i couldnt get originals anymore. They are as good as the originals (and a lot cheaper). if you want i can give you the link.
Change the currency in the website. There seems to be an issue with that
🏃🩲 Blaze through life without a care in the world with the Streaking Kittens Expansion! Why worry about that Exploding Kitten card you just drew when you have a Streaking Kitten card in your hand? Now, that fiery kitty is gonna be someone else’s problem…
With five new card flows and three new decks, Streaking Kittens brings more mayhem to your favourite cat-themed explosive card game!
Swap Top and Bottom – Sit down for this shocker: this card swaps the top and bottom card of the draw pile. Gasp!
Mark – With this card, you force a player to reveal a card in their hand…and keep it revealed!
Garbage Collection – Everyone chucks a card from their hand back into the draw pile. Give it a shuffle too, obviously.
Catomic Bomb – Send all the Exploding Kitten cards to the top of the draw pile, then end your turn.
Streaking Kitten – Protect yourself from an Exploding Kitten card! With this card in hand, you can hold onto an Exploding Kitten without, well, exploding. So you’ll want to keep it in your hand. If you lose it and still have that Exploding Kitten card in your hand…bad things happen. Immediately.
Streaking Kittens deck – This deck is all about stealing. Sounds great, till you remember what the Streaking Kittens card does…
Danger Mode deck – A deck filled to the brim with Exploding Kitten cards!
Attack of the Attacks deck – An unnecessarily aggressive deck that chains together Attacks.
Plus, with the new content sharing update, you can play it with your buddies even if they didn’t get it yet!
Play Streaking Kittens on Exploding Kittens® 2 today – and don’t forget to join our Discord server and tell us what you think!
Aww, no Curse of the Cat Butt card. I know the EK team wish they never released that card, so this must be them correcting that
It always was kind of a "meme" card that they added because it was funny. It might actually be funny if they had it as a "legendary" card that randomly showed up in like %10 of games with certain decks. Beyond that it quick just becomes annoying.
They had the chance to keep it a random thing when it was the limited "Blind as a Bat" card. I personally like how it can be strategically played for various outcomes.
Have you worked out the bugs that allowed the previous version to be run by cheats and trolls?
Hey, u/rbmk-a-ok, thank you for your interest!
Exploding Kittens 2 is an entirely different version, running on a different system, and quite different in many aspects. We assure you that even though it is not an issue right now, we would take any reports of cheating and trolls in the game very seriously and deal with them accordingly.
Let us know if you have any other questions or need help with anything :)
I have the expansion pass and it still says coming soon for me as
Update:got it now👍🏻
Base game, Imploding Kittens, Streaking Kittens, Barking Kittens, and Zombie Kittens, all together in what I find to look very good on EK cards - Bordeaux Red sleeves. Happy to have all the main expansions now.
Also for anyone with a keen eye, I had to cheat the position of a card in order to keep it nicely squared off. Wonder if anyone can notice which one.
Nice layout. You are in for one hell of a ride. But your collection is still not exactly complete, there is also the Good vs Evil expansion too.
Besides the Godcat and Devilcat, are there any other exclusives in that set?
Imo the Raising Heck card is the only one worth having from this deck. It allows you to look at the bottom card of the draw pile and then decide if you want to keep it for yourself or place it on the top of the pile. Your turn is over after that.
I don't feel like buying the deck just for those 2 cards, so I occasionally check out random Goodwill stores. That's how I got my Party Pack for like $4 and RFD for somewhere in the $5-7 range. I can't remember exactly.
Edit: $3.99 for party pack, box not sealed but cards inside still wrapped. $4.99 for RFD.
Armageddon, reveal the future, raising heck. an entirely skippable expansion
Nope, thats why I also don't blame you for not getting them. The artwork is neat tho.
I would suggest another streaking kitten. Having two available changes things up even more.
Nice! sleeved, too. good idea.
Now wait t'ill you find out about the ~450 community custom made cards lol. Are you ready for the next step of your EK addiction?
You know the feeling of playing just base game being boring to you now?
Playing with only all expansions will be boring to you after grabbing a bunch of custom cards.
Feast thy eyes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19kGK5Kq9Ho5b23-C7HIhdUCSNQGG7yUfP69r5zgVnQI/edit?usp=drive_link
If playing with 2 or 3 players, play with one exploding and one imploding kitten.
If playing with more than 3 players, play with one imploding kitten and two exploding kittens fewer than the number of players. e.g. with 5 players play with 3 exploding kittens and one imploding kitten.
In our house rules we have all the kittens there regardless, how many players
Lmao that works?
Just mix the regular cards up and set all special cards (defuses, exploding kittens, and imploding kitten) aside. Proceed like usual from there ;)
There's instructions with both of them. And if you lost them, the website has copies you can save and/or print.
there’s instructions inside the box, have you really never opened a box before??
I use both packs
Hello! I own the NSFW version of the base game, which me and my friends enjoy a lot, but my group of friends consists on 9 people and when the whole group is able to meet EK is not an option.
I was thinking about purchasing the Zombie kittens, Recipes for disaster, or the not-NSFW version of the game, and mix one of them with the one I have. I imagine this is viable but, is the game experience the same or having more cards makes it more boring? Which version do you enjoy more? I was also planning to get the expansions.
EK becomes less and less fun past 5 players, but is still playable. Buy Zombie kitten / GvE for the extra base cards, then other exp if you want more card variety
Ok so you COULD buy a bunch of other games and mix the cards in. It would work, and a lot of people sometimes do it. But for 9 people you are really better off getting the ek party pack. It plays up to 9 people I believe.
Party Pack has 9 EK in the deck, so it would support 10 players. And it has all the cards required to recreate the standard deck if you decide to play the classic way.
You could also just grab a second copy of NSFW, shuffle the two decks together and it would support 9 players. (Or if you want more variety in the cards you could also combine your NSFW deck with the original version, or good vs evil, or zombie kittens to support 9 players)
Buying zombie kitten or GvE, is the best solution, getting base cards and expansion cards at the same time
Ye this also works
Honestly you could get away with recipes for disaster, with the base set it's a bunch of cardss
Depends what your play group likes. you could literally add everything together if you like 5 hour games or just get an extra base game and just add exploding kittens and defuses needed to your original deck, and anything in between.
Received the base game for Christmas and had a decent time with the family (note that none of us are avid board gamers), it seems like a decent party game, somewhat but not completely to my surprise 95% of the comments I’ve seen on /r/boardgames about this game are quite negative, but I’m wondering what the consensus is on the quality of the game once expansions are factored in
Edit: Thanks for the replies so far but I am really looking for thoughts on the expansions specifically
All of the expansions are worth it. Makes the game tons of fun! Good investment and not too expensive overall
I think the additional expansions make the game a bit too unwieldy, which some people loves, but I think it detracts from the gameplay. They mostly muddle up and over-complicate a game that is supposed to be quick and breezy. The original game stands on it's own just fine as a fun little light-weight "take that" party game.
Has anyone tried combining the board game with the regular exploding kittens cards or vice versa? I know the board game specifically calls for the board, so I was planning on adding my regular deck to the mix and trying to experiment with some house rules. Plus I like the box, so I might use it for the rest of my cards so that they all have a place to live.
Ultimately what are your thoughts on the board game and adding regular cards in?
We just played this for the first time. I honestly don't think that the game goes long enough to warrant adding extra action cards in. We ended up playing two rounds and only shuffled the action cards in between, though we didn't even need to do that. It would be nice if they gave you more move cards though, or gave you the option to purchase extra separately, we ended up needed to shuffle that one multiple times during a match.
We're considering scanning the move cards , printing out a double batch, and then randomly mixing some magnet cards in at the start to make things more interesting.
I see no way of combine the packs, i have most card games and played the board game recently
Yeah I'm gonna have to make a new deck but essentially we let you kinda pick between what some of the cards do, like raising heck we let you use the movement deck but honestly cause some things just made more sense for the action deck/ cards and other things worked better for the movement we just played it how it felt like it should be played
I mean I don’t foresee any problem except some expansions might not really work at all
Yeah the tower of power could be weird
Maybe you could do a lightning round when someone lands on a catastrophe space? The game will take very long, i know. But you can try!
Read the rules earlier this week and to me looks like it shouldn’t be compatible. How are you perceiving this idea?
So for now I'm definitely trying to use all the now cards cause I'm glad we got some more, but I think anything regarding the deck would use the new puck deck and then I think anything else should mostly work like normal, defuses work with the exploding spaces and really the zombie kittens would you with those too. And I think things like the streaking kitten would just work as a free pass over exploding kitten spaces
I have imploding kittens, streaking Kittens and barking Kittens. Are there any more expansions I dont know about and if yes which one?
Zombie kitten and Good vs Evil but they are also standalone games. I would for sure buy zombie kittens it’s so worth it, many new cool cards and reviving someone is smth completely different and brings a new layer to the game. Good vs Evil isn‘t that important tbh and only really useful for the armageddon card if u want smth really new in your deck. Nice if u like comeback mechanics more boom boom, gambling and stealing the god too see others cry. I have everything and combined every single expansion, so I think all are worth it but Zombie Kitten is for sure MUCH more worth it than Good Vs Evil if u use it as an expansion.
youre missing Zombie kitten (as good as the others) and Good vs Evil (I dont reccomend buying, worst expansion)
Then there's community made expansions, which are even more fun than official expansions.

Timebomb Kittens from Vietnam?
is that an official variant, and if yes why is it only in vietnam?
because its a unofficial and illegal expansion that reuses copyrighted material, and the Vietnamese do not care about copyright law
Technically Zombie Kittens was released as the 4th expansion that contained all the new cards needed to upgrade your existing main base deck to play the new version. The expansion was then sold with the other cards to form a new base deck option.
This question gets asked every week lol, here's my opinion on this.
You have two approaches to this question
-=== PATH 1 (~33 to 101$ USD) ===-
-Buy Recipe for disaster (~33$ USD). Its a pack containing almost all cards from all expansions except "zombie kitten (~25$ USD)" and "Good vs evil (~25$ USD)". This is the best value for price.
-You can buy the missing expansions later.
-Its got enough cards to play with up to 5 players, more when you buy the missing expansions.
-You will still be missing some cards (alter the future x5, favor, curse of the cat butt, tower of power), one of which is a good one, potluck. Those cards are found in barking kittens, which Recipe for disaster has some cards from. If you care, you'll have to buy Barking kittens too (~18$ USD)
-=== PATH 2 (~20 to ~120$ USD) ===-
-Buy the base game, then look into expansions. Some of the expansions are better than others.
-=Start by buying a base game=-
-Base game (15-25$ USD) : Fun but too simple once you get better at the game. Expansions make the game way better. Enough for up to 4 players. NSFW edition and UK edition are just artistic variations of this.
-Base game 2-Player Edition: Not really worth buying, unless you plan on buying all other expansions from the get go (they will make up for the lack of base cards - expansions have lots of filler base cards). If you're remotely unsure, go for base game instead.
-Party pack: DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WILL BUY ALL OTHER EXPANSIONS, get base game instead. All expansions have filler cards, and this pack has just more of them. There are no unique cards not found in abundance in other expansions. Still a good standalone buy if you play with a big group (up to 10 players) and don't plan on buying everything.
-Exploding Kittens Cat Burglar Edition: More expensive base game with a cat plushy thing. Do not buy unless you somehow care about the plushy
-=Then look into these, IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE=-
-Streaking kittens (~7$ USD): The cheapest expansion, at around 7$ USD. Best value for price of any expansion, many new cards. Catomic bomb and streaking kitten are great fun.
-Barking kittens (~18$ USD): Best amount of new + interesting cards of any expansion, but more pricey than Streaking kitten.
-Zombie kitten (~25$ USD): the first big expansion, lots of new cards. Some of them are really amazing (dig deeper, clone). Not that much more expansive vs other expansions for the sheer amount of cards. Can be played as a standalone game but should really be merged with the base game.
-Imploding kittens (~18$ USD): Some of its cards are in other expansions as well, and will end up as useless duplicates. Still has a few amazing new cards, namely imploding kittens and reverse, which are great fun.
-Good vs evil (25$): Can be played as a standalone. Only 2 new cards (that are slight variants of existing cards), and adds a coinflip mechanic with armageddon that decides entire games. Card art is based on the netflix show. I personally think this is the worst expansion, and can be skipped entirely.
-You can look at the cards in each expansion to make a better decision using this link: https://explodi.ng/decks
-=== Want more new cards? ===-
-Eventually, when your EK fascination has matured into a full blown addiction, you might start being interested in custom cards made by the community, which you can find here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/19kGK5Kq9Ho5b23-C7HIhdUCSNQGG7yUfP69r5zgVnQI/edit?usp=drive_link
-you can print these using this guide :
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xf1WzQcDYH3Il9YrCNA0DlxM3cUIBdQLl_3uH0bFExM/edit?usp=drive_link
-=== Last tip ===-
-SLEEVE. YOUR. CARDS. They WILL degrade with use, some more than others (bombs, defuse, imploding kitten, streaking kitten), making them identifiable and ruining your games.
-If your cards are already damaged, you can buy sleeves with opaque backs.
-Opaque card backs are mostly mandatory for printing custom cards, as no one has replicated the EK card backs well enough and you might run into copyright issues trying to print these card backs anyways. If you know you're going to become a degenerate EK addict, sleeve with opaque backs from the get go.

Thanks for making this, explaining best to worst ek sets to collect is tiring lol
I'd recommend mentioning that zk and gve are base games. Good to know for newcomers.
Done, mentioned they can be standalones. They are not exactly base games IMO, as they lack some cards from the base game like skip for ZK
I personally own all of the different types of exploding kittens base games plus all of the expansions
how to play Exploding Kittens with expansions
Playing Exploding Kittens with Expansions: Key Considerations
Understand the Base Game: Ensure all players are familiar with the basic rules of Exploding Kittens. The objective is to avoid drawing an Exploding Kitten card while trying to eliminate other players.
Choose Your Expansions: Common expansions include "Imploding Kittens," "Barking Kittens," and "Party Pack." Each expansion adds new cards and mechanics, so familiarize yourself with what each one introduces.
Combine Card Decks:
Adjust Game Mechanics: Some expansions introduce new rules or mechanics. Make sure to read the expansion rulebook carefully and discuss any changes with all players before starting.
Player Count: Check if the expansions change the maximum player count. For example, "Party Pack" allows for more players than the base game.
Game Duration: Be aware that adding expansions can lengthen the game. If you prefer a quicker game, consider limiting the number of expansion cards used.
Recommendation: Start with one expansion at a time to avoid overwhelming new players. Once everyone is comfortable, you can mix in additional expansions for more variety and fun. This gradual approach helps maintain the game's flow and keeps it enjoyable for all players.
