How to Start a Blog

Choosing Your Niche

Selecting the right niche is crucial when starting a blog. It's recommended to pick a topic you are passionate about and have some expertise in, as this will help attract a targeted audience [1]. Consider choosing a niche that you can write about consistently without losing interest, ideally something with an existing audience and search demand [3:4].

Setting Up Your Blog

To set up your blog, you'll need to register a domain name and choose a reliable hosting provider. Popular choices include Bluehost and SiteGround for their beginner-friendly services [1], [3:2]. WordPress.org is often recommended for serious bloggers due to its flexibility and control over monetization [3:4]. Alternatively, platforms like Blogger offer a simpler, non-technical option for beginners [2:2].

Design and Branding

While design and branding are important, they don't need to be perfect from day one. Focus initially on creating valuable content and gradually refine your blog's design as you learn more about your audience [3]. Use user-friendly themes and ensure your blog is easy to navigate [1].

Content Creation and SEO

Creating high-quality, SEO-friendly content is key to attracting visitors. Plan your content by brainstorming your audience’s biggest questions and conducting simple keyword research [3:3]. Utilize subheadings, bullet points, and visuals to make posts engaging and easy to read. Consistency in publishing and engaging with your audience helps build long-term success [1:2].

Promotion and Growth

Promote your blog using digital marketing strategies such as social media, email newsletters, and platforms like Pinterest [1:1]. Sharing your content across various channels can help increase visibility and traffic [4:1]. Additionally, consider leveraging Substack for professional audiences, as it offers peer-driven recommendations and integration with LinkedIn for higher engagement [5:1].

Monetization

Once your blog starts gaining traction, explore monetization options such as affiliate links, sponsored posts, or offering premium content. Monetizing may take time, but with consistent effort and quality content, it can become a viable income stream [1:4].

Starting a blog using digital marketing involves several key steps to ensure success and visibility:

 1. Choose Your Niche: Select a topic you're passionate about and have expertise in. This could be anything from tech, lifestyle, health, finance, or travel. A clear niche helps attract a targeted audience.
 2. Set Up Your Blog: Register a domain name and choose a reliable hosting provider (like Bluehost or SiteGround). Install a blogging platform like WordPress for easy management and customization.
 3. Design Your Blog: Pick a user-friendly theme and design your blog to be visually appealing and mobile-friendly. It’s essential for user experience and engagement.
 4. Create High-Quality Content: Write valuable and engaging blog posts that provide solutions, insights, or entertainment to your audience. Focus on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to rank higher in search engine results. Use relevant keywords, optimize meta descriptions, and ensure readability.
 5. Promote with Social Media: Share your blog posts on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook to drive traffic. Engage with your followers and build a community.
 6. Leverage Email Marketing: Build an email list by offering freebies like eBooks or guides. Regularly send newsletters to keep your audience engaged and updated on new content.
 7. Monetize Your Blog: Once you have steady traffic, you can monetize through affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, or selling products/services.

By combining these strategies, you'll create a successful blog that attracts readers and grows your online presence.

Starting a blog can feel overwhelming at first, but combining good content with smart digital marketing really makes the difference. I’d also add that consistency in publishing and engaging with your audience helps build long-term success

You're on the right track.

A few things that move the needle:

Internal links help Google (and readers) navigate your content

Repurpose everything—one blog = tweets, carousels, Shorts, etc.

Pinterest isn’t dead—great traffic source if your niche fits

Blogging starts slow. Show up, hit publish, and let the momentum build.

started my blog with a focus on travel tips and found the niche approach super effective. Using WordPress made setup easy. SEO and social media were game-changers for traffic. Email marketing helps keep readers engaged. Monetizing took time, but affiliate links worked best for me

Starting a blog is simple, but to grow it, you need to use digital marketing. I first write SEO-friendly content that ranks on Google. Then I promote the blog on social media, email newsletters and platforms like Pinterest. As long as you do regular posting and smart marketing, the blog starts growing!

If you want to use a non technical and hassle free platform you should start with Google's Blogger. It is easy to use and you can learn more about it from YouTube videos.

What are the key steps to start a blog ?

Posted by calebkiirya · in r/HostingInsider · 1 month ago

I’m planning to start a blog in 2025, but I honestly feel lost about where to begin. I don’t just want a quick tip - I’m looking for a step-by-step guide that covers everything in detail.

 • How do I choose the right niche so I don’t waste months on the wrong topic?
 • What’s the best platform and hosting option for beginners that won’t break the bank?
 • Which web hosting provider should I choose if I want something reliable, fast, and beginner-friendly?
 • Do I need to worry about design and branding from day one, or should I focus on content first?
 • What’s the proper way to write posts that actually attract readers and rank on Google?
 • Is there any easy guide on how to start a blog for beginners that includes step-by-step videos, pictures, and even free personal assistance to create the first blog?
 • And finally, how do new bloggers realistically start making money - ads, affiliate marketing, or something else?

If anyone can break this down into a complete beginner-friendly roadmap, it would really help me get started the right way.

Ever thought about sharing your passion with the world, building a community, or even earning income from home? Starting a blog can be the gateway to all of that and more.

When I first started blogging, I had no clue what I was doing. I spent weeks fumbling with hosting, picked a niche that didn’t inspire me long term, and even launched without a proper content plan. Looking back, I made every beginner blogging mistake possible. But through trial and error, I figured out what actually works and I want to save you from those same headaches.

This isn’t just another generic guide. Think of it as a roadmap built from experience. I’ll walk you through the steps I wish I knew when I started my first blog.

Part 1: The Foundation – Planning for Success

Step 1: Discover Your Perfect Niche

Your niche is simply the topic you’ll focus on. But the narrower and more specific you are, the better.

For example:

 • Instead of a general travel blog, I once came across a blogger who focused solely on traveling with a large dog. It was unique and it resonated with pet owners.
 • Instead of food blogging, you could go with easy vegan recipes for busy parents.
 • Instead of personal finance, think saving money while paying off student loans.

When I started, my mistake was picking a broad niche (just “lifestyle blogging”), which made it hard to grow. If I could go back, I’d choose a problem-solving niche with clear audience demand.

Tips to pick your niche:

 • Write down your passions and skills.
 • Look for problems you can solve.
 • Check if people are actively searching for it (Google Trends, keyword tools).
 • Make sure you’ll still enjoy writing about it 2–3 years from now.

Step 2: Choose a Memorable Blog Name and Domain

Your blog’s name is its brand identity. It should be simple, relevant, and easy to spell.

 • If you’re writing about gardening, names with words like “garden,” “roots,” or “blossom” instantly connect with readers.
 • If your blog is more personal or multi-topic, using your own name works well (that’s what I did on my second blog, and it felt more authentic).

Pro tip: Before you get attached to a name, check if the domain and social media handles are available.

Part 2: The Technical Setup

This is where most beginners freeze up. I know I did. The good news is it’s much simpler now.

Step 3: Get Your Blog Online with Hosting and a Domain

To fully own and monetize your blog, you’ll need:

 • Hosting – Think of this as the land your blog sits on.
 • Domain name – This is your blog’s address (example: www.myblog.com

When I first started, I went cheap on hosting and regretted it when my site kept crashing. Later, I switched to a reliable host and finally felt like I had a professional setup.

Look for beginner-friendly hosts that include a free domain and one-click WordPress installation.

Step 4: Install WordPress and Choose a Theme

WordPress.org is the gold standard for bloggers. It’s flexible, powerful, and trusted by professionals. Installing it is usually just a click from your host’s dashboard.

Once inside WordPress, you’ll choose a theme (your blog’s design template). I remember obsessing over colors and fonts at first, but trust me: keep it simple and clean in the beginning. You can always customize later.

Part 3: Creating Content That Connects

Here’s where the real magic happens. Content is what brings readers back.

Step 5: Write Your Essential Pages

Before publishing posts, set up:

 • About Page – Share who you are and why you’re blogging. My early mistake was keeping mine too formal, but people connect better with personal stories.
 • Contact Page – Give readers and brands a way to reach you.
 • Privacy Policy – Important for compliance if you’re collecting emails or using analytics.

AdorablyCooking · 1 month ago

Step 6: Plan Your Content and Write Your First Post

When I wrote my first post, I didn’t plan at all and it showed. It rambled, had no structure, and nobody read it. Lesson learned: always start with a plan.

Steps for a strong first post:

 • Brainstorm your audience’s biggest questions.
 • Do simple keyword research (Google’s “People also ask” is gold).
 • Write a clear headline that promises value.
 • Use subheadings and bullet points to keep it easy to read.
 • Add visuals (screenshots, photos, or even simple Canva graphics).
 • Edit thoroughly before publishing.

Part 4: Growing Your Audience

A blog without readers is like shouting into the void. Promotion matters just as much as writing.

Step 7: Promote Your Blog and Attract Readers

What worked for me:

 • Sharing posts in relevant Facebook groups (without spamming).
 • Answering questions on Quora and linking back to helpful blog posts.
 • Building an email list from day one (my biggest regret was delaying this).

Also, learn the basics of SEO. Optimizing posts with the right keywords and making your site mobile-friendly is how you get long-term blog traffic.

Step 8: Make Money from Your Blog

Blogging isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme, but yes, you can earn real income.

Here are the most common and effective methods:

 • Affiliate marketing – Recommending products you actually use.
 • Ads – Networks like Google AdSense can be a starting point.
 • Digital products/services – Ebooks, online courses, consulting.
 • Sponsored content – Brand collaborations once you have traffic.

My first $100 came from affiliate marketing and I’ll never forget how exciting that felt.

I was in the same boat a year ago, so let me break this down into a beginner-friendly roadmap for you.

1. Choosing a niche – Don’t overthink it. Pick something you can write about for at least 30–50 posts without getting bored. It doesn’t have to be your life’s passion, but it should be something with an audience and some search demand (check Google Trends, Reddit discussions, or keyword tools like Ubersuggest).

2. Platform & hosting – If you’re serious about blogging, go with WordPress.org (not WordPress.com). It gives you full control, SEO flexibility, and monetization freedom. For hosting, starter-friendly and reliable options are Bluehost, Hostinger, or SiteGround. All three are cheap enough for beginners and include 1-click WordPress install.

3. Web hosting provider – If you want “easy + reliable,” Bluehost is the classic beginner choice, while Hostinger is usually cheaper with good speed. SiteGround is a bit more premium but very beginner-friendly with great support.

4. Design & branding – Don’t waste weeks on logos and colors. Just use a clean WordPress theme (GeneratePress, Astra, or Kadence) and start writing. You can polish design later — content is what will bring readers in.

5. Writing posts that attract readers – Learn basic SEO. Every post should target one main keyword (e.g., “how to start a blog in 2025”) and provide more value than the top 3 Google results. Write like you’re solving a real person’s problem, not like you’re writing a school essay.

6. Step-by-step guides – Yes, there are full beginner guides with pictures and even free personal help. Websites like StartBlogging101 or BloggingWizard have detailed tutorials. Some hosting providers even walk you through setup with videos.

7. Making money – Don’t expect instant income, but here are the common paths:

 • Ads (Google AdSense, Mediavine once you grow)
 • Affiliate marketing (recommend products you actually use, and add affiliate links)
 • Digital products (ebooks, templates, courses once you build trust)

My advice: Write 10–15 solid posts first, then start learning SEO + promotion. Once traffic grows, monetization becomes much easier.

Starting a blog isn’t complicated, but staying consistent is the hardest part. If you treat it like a long-term project, it can actually turn into a solid income stream.

Can Anyone Start Blogging?

Anyone can start blogging, but it takes time, effort and consistency to build a successful blog. There are many different ways to blog, but most successful bloggers have several things in common: they write regularly (at least once a week), they promote their blogs through social media and other channels, and they focus on a specific niche or topic. It takes time to build an audience for your blog, but if you stick with it, you can be successful.

How to Create a Blog for Free on Google And Earn Money

Are you looking for a way to make money blogging, but don't want to spend any money to get started? If so, then you'll be happy to know that it's possible to create a blog for free on Google. There are two main ways to do this: through Blogger (Google's free blogging platform) or through WordPress.com (a popular free blogging platform).

Both platforms are easy to use and can be set up in just a few minutes. Once your blog is created, you'll need to start writing content. This is where many people struggle, as they're not sure what to write about.

But there are a few options: you can either write about something you're passionate about, or choose a niche that you think people would be interested in reading about. For example, if you're passionate about fashion, you could start a fashion blog; or if you're interested in health and fitness, you could start a health and fitness blog. Once you've got some content published, the next step is promoting your blog.

This can be done by sharing your posts on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter; by guest posting on other blogs; or by taking advantage of Google's free advertising platform, AdSense. By doing these things, you'll start driving traffic back to your site - and when people start reading your content and clicking on your ads, that's when you'll start earning money!

How to Start a Blog for Free And Make Money

Are you thinking about starting a blog but don't want to spend any money? Or maybe you're already blogging but want to find ways to make some extra cash? Either way, you're in the right place!

Now that we've gone over some of the reasons why you should start a blog, let's get into how you can do it for free! The first step is finding a web host. There are many web hosts out there that offer free hosting plans.

Once you've found one that meets your needs, sign up for an account and set up your site. Next, choose a platform for your blog. WordPress is one of the most popular platforms and it offers both free and paid versions.

If you're just getting started, we recommend using the free version so that you can get familiar with the platform before spending any money on it. Once your site is all set up, it's time to start creating content! Write posts that are interesting and informative, and be sure to include images and videos if possible.

As your blog grows, keep adding new content so that readers have something new to read each time they visit.

Conclusion

If you're new to blogging, there are a few things you can do to get started on the right foot. First, choose a topic that you're passionate about and that you feel you can write about knowledgeably. Once you've chosen your topic, create a blog using one of the many free platforms available online, such as WordPress or Blogger.

Fastest way to start blogging today is to pick a topic that's valuable for professionals and monetize a Substack and then partner with Ad sponsors in the B2B environment related to the niche you have chosen. It's highly scalable due to Substack's recommendation engine that is peer driven instead of algorithmic. So you get the targeting of being recommended by others writing in the same area. You also get SEO of course from google, etc... If you write for a professional audience, you get traffic from LinkedIn that has the highest CTR and ability to go viral on a post.

Thinking About Starting a Blog? Here’s My Simple Advice

Posted by Vanessa_3ft3lya · in r/blogs · 3 months ago

Starting a blog sounds huge at first, but honestly, it begins with just writing what’s on your mind. When I first launched mine, I kept thinking, “What if no one reads it?” But then I reminded myself — I’m writing for me.

If you’re stuck on topics, start small. Something from your day. A thought, a book, a random observation.

Make your titles interesting, but keep your tone honest. And don’t stress about long posts. Short, real, and relatable content always hits harder. A blog is like an open diary — totally worth trying.

3 Things you should know before starting your own blog

Posted by NouhaB · in r/Blogging · 7 years ago

Starting your own blog is hard so is growing it. the most crucial keys that professional always claim and try to remind us to create quality thought is provoking content that will make the audience come back for more. The term evergreen comes up often in these cases. Evergreen Content is content that is not particularly time-sensitive nor news related. It’s timeless content, like your Grandma recipe.

Here are some tips that may guide you on your evergreen content journey

1-First things first: Don’t (just) Follow Your Passion.

This has always been one of the biggest obstacles when choosing a topic to write a blog about. If you go ahead thinking that you should talk about what interests you without analyzing what people want, then think again. This is how you’ll have a hard time growing your blog. So instead, start by building up a list of skills and interests you have AND that you reckon are valuable by considering what other people ask you about. Say, you enjoy podcasting about sports and people ask you about it, that could be a very profitable blog topic. …But then don’t do something you don’t like. you just can’t (and probably don’t want to) simply think like a robot.

2- Write (A Lot) Less, Write (A Lot) Better.

A lot of new bloggers believe that you need to write new blog posts every day. I was one of them when I first started blogging two years ago. These days, what really matters is actionable evergreen content - not short, click-baiting titles. Millions of blog posts are published every day. So focus on being exceptional so you can stand out.Successful bloggers spend anywhere from 10-30 hours on any given blog post. And if you look closely, you’ll notice that they post very infrequently - once or twice every month maybe. Put all of your efforts on less content - but better content. You’ll also notice that it has been really tough to find good quality content. Say, you’re looking to find out a guide about preparing for a job interview.

Nowadays, a content marketing guide goes on like this:

A Content Marketer's Guide to get that Dream Job!

Step 1: Have confidence in yourself - confidence is key to really nail that interview!

PS: For more great tips on how to deal with job interviews, enter your e-mail address to subscribe to our weekly blog!

Even the purportedly good content creators are creating very SEO-driven content, which means creating individually packaged pieces of content that try to answer frequently searched-for questions, but that doesn't actually give you a broader learning structure.Without a foundation of quality, no matter how many traffic generation tactics you try, they won’t work in the long term - because your content doesn’t stand out.

Takeaway: Write less often. Write better content.

3- A famous advice: “Build it and they will come”.

While that advice may have held up and made sense in the early years of the internet, it’s now 2018. That simply isn’t true anymore. You can’t just write great content and expect to generate a following. You have to both write great content and promote like a madman. Derek Halpern recommends that one should spend 20% of his/her time writing posts and 80% actually promoting it.

Takeaway: Actively promote your content, don’t just passively wait for people to show up.

I'd like to know how do you do it. What platforms do you use and how often?

Also how much traffic per month for doing so?

There is no miracle recipe, you just need to analyze the traffic within the platform you are using via Apps dedicated for this task or by our own. and make strategies where/when and how you should publish your blogs in order to reach an efficient number of readers.

For the How much, it depends on the expectation and goals that you will set. there are people who are satisfied with a traffic of 100 people (For content that mainly aims ''Niches''). And others that don't even reach their expectation with 1k viewers.

Great question by the way, I will upload a post in the near-future trying to answer your question in-depth.

I love tip #2 because that's exactly what I do. :) It takes me forever to write a post, so I can't post that often. I think two of the best ways to succeed at blogging are by helping people or entertaining people. Focus your posts on offering people some service, like advice, motivation, concrete information. Or write about things so interesting that people will want to read just for pleasure. There is so much competition you have to give people something they really want in order for them to click the first time and then come back other times.

Exactly! The goal is to make them impatiently wait for your next piece as they know it will be worth it. So even if you don’t post frequently your devoted readers will always come back for more.

How to start blogging in WordPress?

Posted by sewabs · in r/wpbeginner_engage · 7 months ago

I recently came across this article on WPBeginner that walks you through the process of starting a WordPress blog—from choosing a hosting provider to publishing your very first post. I wanted to break down the key points that I learned and added some extra tips for beginners who might feel overwhelmed with all the details. Whether you’re completely new or just looking for a refresher, here’s a step-by-step guide based on the article:

1. Choosing a Domain and Hosting

Before you can even install WordPress, you need a home for your blog:

 • Domain Name: This is going to be your blog's address on the internet (e.g., www.yourblogname.com). You can think of it as your online identity. So choose a memorable name and make sure it's relevant to your content.
 • Hosting: Your blog needs a server to live on. WPBeginner suggested reliable hosts that are beginner-friendly (often with one-click WordPress installations). I recommend you look for features like uptime guarantees, customer support, and scalability.

My Bonus Tip Here: Many hosting providers offer introductory rates and money-back guarantees, so you can test these platforms without a big commitment.

2. Installing WordPress

Once you've secured your domain and hosting, the next step is installing WordPress:

 • One-Click Installation: Most of these hosting providers offer an easy one-click install option for WordPress. This simplifies the whole process for beginners.
 • Manual Installation: For those of you like myself who prefer a challenge, you can download WordPress for free from WordPress.org and install it manually. I believe it gives you a deeper understanding of how WordPress works behind the scenes.

My Bonus Tip Here: Even if you’re not planning on tweaking core files right away (I do this a lot as a dev), having a basic understanding of manual installation can be useful later on.

3. Configuring the Basics

After installation, it’s time to fix some of your blog settings:

 • Settings: You need to start with configuring your site title, tagline, and privacy settings in the WordPress admin dashboard under “Settings”. This will shape how your blog appears to visitors and search engines.
 • Permalinks: Now this is very important. I recommend you improve your URL structure for both user experience and also SEO by setting up permalinks (found under “Settings → Permalinks”). For example, using a format like $www.yourblogname.com/post-name/$ is more readable and SEO-friendly.

4. Choosing a Theme

Your WordPress theme is like the clothes you give to your blog:

 • Free vs. Premium Themes: There are thousands of free themes available, but premium themes often offer more customization options and dedicated support.
 • Customization: Whether you choose a free or premium theme, spend some time customizing the layout, colors, and fonts. Navigate to “Appearance → Customize” to make your site unique.

My Personal Recommendation: I like Neve, Astra, Divi, and GeneratePress. But recently I'm using SeedProd. They added a lot of templates and it can help get my client sites ready quickly. Plus, SeedProd AI is lightning fast and adds content for my blogs right away.

5. Essential Plugins

Plugins are like add-ons. You need them to add features to your site:

 • SEO Plugins: Tools like AIOSEO.com can help guide you on how to optimize your posts for search engines.
 • Security Plugins: You need protection for your blog from hackers and malware, and plugins such as Wordfence or Sucuri Security are helpful.
 • Backup Plugins: Regular backups are a lifesaver (I lost an 8 year old blog because the client was not keeping backup and I wasn't either). Please use plugins like Duplicator to schedule and manage regular backups.
 • Performance Plugins: You can improve your blog speed with caching and optimization plugins, like WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache.

My Suggestion Here: Don’t go overboard. Just install the plugins you truly need to avoid slowing down your website.

6. Creating and Publishing Content

The heart of your blog is your content:

 • Quality Over Quantity: Focus on creating value for your readers. High-quality, consistent content is key to growing your audience.
 • Content Types: Consider mixing up your posts with tutorials, personal stories, opinion pieces, and more to keep your blog engaging.
 • SEO Best Practices: Use keyword research to guide your content. Tools like Google Keyword Planner or LowFruits (I use this one) can help pinpoint topics of interest in your niche.

What I do? I engage with my readers by inviting comments, sharing posts on social media, and sending email newsletters to build a community.

7. Learning and Growing

Remember, blogging is a journey. Blogs like WPBeginner aren't made in a day, but years of consistency and positivity to help readers:

 • Experiment and Learn: Don’t worry if everything isn’t perfect right from the beginning. You should use analytics to see what’s working and adjust your strategy over time.
 • Resources: Explore more beginner guides, video tutorials, and communities (like this one I shared at the start) to continuously improve your skills.

Starting a WordPress blog might seem intimidating at first, but taking it step by step makes the process manageable. The WPBeginner article is a fantastic starting point, and there are countless resources available as you grow your online presence.

Feel free to share your experiences or ask questions below. What challenges are you facing while starting your blog, and what's your plan to overcome them?

Love that you added this. I struggle with perfectionism sometimes and have had to learn the hard way that you'll just be stuck if you don't try things and just put yourself out there!

Yep. Perfection is relative. You have to experiment, learn, fail, and continue doing it all over again!

Thinking of Starting a Blog? Here’s How I’d Do It in 2025

Posted by wildour · in r/flashvoucher · 2 months ago

I see a lot of people asking about starting a blog, so I thought I’d share a simple, no-BS guide that I wish I had when I began.

1. Pick a topic you can stick with
Don’t just chase what’s “profitable.” Pick something you actually enjoy talking about. If you hate your niche, you’ll burn out fast.

2. Choose a domain & hosting
Your blog lives on a domain (example.com) and needs a hosting provider to store your site. For beginners, shared hosting is fine. I personally started with Bluehost because it was cheap, came with a free domain, and was easy to set up.

Bluehost Activate Bluehost Discount - Upto 83% Off

3. Install WordPress
Most hosting platforms have 1-click WordPress installation. It’s beginner-friendly, has endless themes, and lets you scale later.

4. Create a few core posts before going live
Don’t launch with an empty blog. Have at least 5–10 solid posts ready so visitors see value immediately.

5. Learn basic SEO
You don’t need to be an expert, but understanding keyword research, on-page SEO, and internal linking will give your blog a huge boost in visibility.

6. Promote your blog
Share your posts on social media, niche forums, and even other subreddits (but follow the rules!). Guest posting can also help you get backlinks.

7. Monetize (later, not immediately)
Don’t rush this. Focus on content first. Once you have consistent traffic, you can add display ads, affiliate links, or even sell digital products.

Final tip: Blogging is a long game. Most blogs take months (sometimes a year) to get steady traffic. Stay consistent and treat it like a skill you’re improving over time.

Has anyone here recently started a blog? What platform or tools are you using?

I started my first blog in almost the same way you described, and I also chose Bluehost in the beginning. After using it for over a year, I wrote a Bluehost review to share my experience. Overall, it’s a solid option for beginners because the setup is simple and the free domain keeps the initial cost low. It’s not perfect, so I think it’s worth checking a few honest reviews before deciding, but it worked well for me when I was starting out.

Need a solid first step.. excited but stalling

Posted by LCLH1956 · in r/Blogging · 6 months ago

Hey guys so I am about to start my blog. I started with a small audience on IG and it seemed like this niche I’m in will do well. I have the domain name. Pretty sure I’m going to use word press and a template from Etsy. I made a logo and already have a few topics/ photos for the blog..I have been reading post about blogs on here and watched videos..

I’m the type of person that gets overly excited about an idea so much that I don’t follow through all the time lol.. so this time I really just want to know what’s the steps I should take to just start so I don’t end up not ever doing it. Thanks for the help!

There is nothing to complicate, all you need is to dedicate your time to writing the best content that expresses your real experience and ensures that the readers also feel it. While they are reading your blog posts, first they must get attached to it, and then only they will show interest in reading the whole content.

The second thing, start building a network of known followers by leveraging social media. Just sharing the link and joining the groups are not enough. Every human count is worth and ensure you create a personal connection with them (it's not about 1, 10, 50, 100, or 1000). They must know you well.

Thank you! I don’t have a huge following on IG, 15k and 2400 on TikTok but I know I can get bigger if I am consistent! I’m not very consistent with those all the time. And I do want to use YouTube as well.

Imo the most important question to ask yourself is if this is a hobby blog or you want to make money. If it’s a hobby blog then you have nothing to worry about. Have fun. If you want to make money then you need one of two things or both. You need to either learn about keyword research and seo and make your content based on those principles (keysearch is awesome and affordable). Or, you need a very large social following. Without either of those, it’ll be hard to make a buck.

this more of a personal problem than a regular business advice kind

here's what you need to realize you suffer from shiny object syndrome because i used to operate similarly once the thing starts getting difficult i jump into a new model did that for 6 years not being able to stick to one business.

here's what i did i built a framework which helps me validate an idea to check if theres demand before i venture. the goal of a ready market already existing makes me accountable to see it through and stick to it for long

Good work you've done the hard part already- deciding what your niche is going to be.

As a warning- blogging is definitely hard. But keep grinding and it will be worth it. It may take a few months to get Google AdSense, and then when you get more traffic you can look into other advertisers who pay more.

If you need some help with writing blog posts or monetization etc there is a step by step guide here
