How to Unlock All Spells in Hogwarts Legacy

Understanding Spell Availability

In "Hogwarts Legacy," players can unlock a variety of spells as they progress through the game. The exact number of spells available is a topic of discussion, with some players expecting around 15 to 20 distinct spells [1:1], [2:3]. However, there are hints that more spells could be added over time, potentially through updates or expansions [2:1].

Unlocking Spells Through Gameplay

Spells are typically unlocked by progressing through the main storyline and completing specific quests or challenges. Some spells may also be hidden in various locations throughout the game world, requiring thorough exploration to discover them [4:2], [4:4]. Players have reported finding spells in unexpected places, such as behind altars or under rocks [4:6].

Spell Customization and Upgrades

There is speculation about the ability to customize or upgrade spells within the game. This could involve using attribute points to modify spell effects or unlocking stronger versions of spells, such as "Protego Maxima" from "Protego" [1:4], [1:5]. Such features would allow players to tailor their magical abilities to suit their playstyle.

Challenges and Achievements

Completing certain achievements or participating in special events might also unlock additional spells. For example, dueling events have been mentioned as a potential source for acquiring past spells [3:1], [3:3]. Keeping an eye out for seasonal quests or limited-time events could provide opportunities to expand your spell repertoire.

Exploration and Merchants

Exploring every nook and cranny of the game world is crucial for finding all spells. Some spells may be available for purchase from merchants scattered across the map [4:7]. Being thorough in exploration and interacting with various NPCs can lead to discovering new spells and other valuable items.

In summary, unlocking all spells in "Hogwarts Legacy" requires a combination of progressing through the story, exploring the game world, participating in events, and possibly upgrading existing spells. Keep an eye on updates from the developers for any new content that might introduce additional spells.

ORIGINAL POST

Hello everyone! Just wanted to see some opinions on the matter of spells in Hogwarts Legacy. I know with RPG and open-world games there tends to be a lot of freedom in terms of abilities, and it is heavily rumored, if not practically confirmed, that our character will have a spell tree to grow throughout the story.

With this in mind, I wanted to know what people were thinking! How many spells do you guys think we will be able to unlock?

The leaked trailer HUD shows the following spells at various points:

  • Lumos
  • Alohomora
  • Reparo
  • Expulso
  • Stupefy
  • Depulso
  • Levioso
  • Expelliarmus

Protego is also heavily implied via gameplay, though I don't believe the spell name ever explicitly shows up on the HUD.

I'm pretty sure one or two other spells have been mentioned in interviews, but I can't find anything concrete from a quick search. I wouldn't be surprised if we get some kind of "sempra" spell for basic combat. Also potentially Nox, to extinguish lights. Maybe Accio for puzzle solving. Hominem Revelio and/or Specialis Revelio also feel like possible candidates -- a "detect life" ability, and a classic eagle eye / witcher vision / "detect interactable" ability. My guess is around 12-16 total spells, but maybe you can spec to improve your capabilities with some/all of them.

I'd be surprised to see more than 15 unique spells.

I have a feeling there will be attribute points or some sort where you can 'customise' existing spells to lean more one way than another/ add an addition effect.

E.g. - Flippendo as a knockback curse, add a point and it causes the opponent to momentarily stun an opponent instead of knocking them back/ or the spell knocks an opponent back with no stun effect/ or the spell has an increased chance to knock an opponent back and momentarily stun them (if taking a middle route and wanting both effects).

You’d be surprised to see MORE than 15 crappy spells?? Lol ok.

If there’s less than 15 then that’s shit. Utter shit. They need to include ALL spells or don’t bother making the game anymore.

-20 upvotes on reddit
[deleted] · 3 years ago

This is why people need to check their expectations. You want every single spell in existence? Good, don’t play the game. One less entitled fanboy to whinge that the devs didn’t make a tailor made game specifically for you.

Ok so you’ve got:

  1. Lumos/Nox
  2. Alohamora
  3. Protego
  4. Reducto
  5. Flippendo
  6. Wingardium Leviosa
  7. Expelliarmus
  8. Ascendio
  9. Expecto Patronum
  10. Homenum Revelio
  11. Incendio
  12. Stupefy
  13. Augamenti
  14. Diffindo And
  15. Episkey (for a bit of healing)

Including the ability to modify spells with attribute points (again not confirmed just my theory) what more do you need? (Plus potions) perhaps your list might be different but 15 is a lot. Especially if we can modify the spell effects/ upgrade the spell effects.

Do you want multiple spells that do the same thing? In that case, here have Aberto AND Alohamora. Or Bombardo AND Reducto.

Do you want all of the spells so that you literally use Apparecium one time?

That’s a fair point! I would wanna see as many as they can without it feeling like ridiculous. To be honest I don’t know what that number would be for me

Another thing I would love to see would be the “maxima” of some spells. So like we could have “protego” as a beginner spell and “protego maxima” as a stronger form of it we learn later on, I think that would be pretty cool!

8 upvotes on reddit

Ciniqs · 3 years ago

That’s a pretty good idea! Having spells being upgraded in tiers could be cool; going from lumos to lumos solem and protego /protego totalum/protego maxima and bombarda/bombarda maxima etc.

Not sure how it would work with spells that don’t have a greater tier but it’s a good idea nonetheless!

I really hope they work a system where you can combo different spells. Also I hope on next gen they increase particle effects.

The increase on particle effects is practically a definite, as Avalanche have created the game using Unreal Engine 5. I watched some YouTube videos on UE5 and I'm gobsmacked at what it can do.

Edit: I'm completely wrong they're using UE4

Now that I think about it, didn’t we get a sense of that from the trailer? Just from seeing that part where the bad guy was shooting continuous spells at us and when the girl student used a form of finisher against a bad guy where she levitated him and slammed him to the ground? Man I really hope this game delivers on the combat

How to get more than 13 in the "Distinct Spells"

Posted by [deleted] · in r/harrypotterwu · 5 years ago

In the "Achievements" section there is a task to complete 20 "Distinct Spells". I have been playing since day 1 and have not seen more than 13 of these. What is this achievement about, then? Perhaps the distant future.

I am guessing that the 3 new "Charms" and the charms in the fortresses don't count.

Most of those are from the dueling events (+ 1 from a currently disabled TLSQ), at this point there was a dueling event that allowed to win one of the past spells, but only once.

The developers themselves do that, supposedly for adjustments, but some of those quests been gone for months already. Also seasonal quests are only available for a short time around certain holidays.

So i heard that there's like 70 spells in base game and after playing the game and completing it I've loaded back to the last area and now in search of these spells. The crazy part is I probably have not even 20 spells nor have I heard anyone talk about other spells I already got, so my question is WHERE'S THE OTHER 50 HIDING

Some random merchants have good selection. There’s a red priest in the first town that has a few. The alchemist/doctor guy under the museum in the first town has some I believe. I had quite a lot after the first act. I was very thorough though. Oh also the Druid guy on the beach under the town. That’s what I can remember rn.

Ngl I downloaded the console enabler and gave myself a lot of spells. I’ve explored all 3 acts pretty thoroughly and was missing some of the tier5 elemental spells still.

[Hogwarts Legacy] Immersive, Fun 4/5 needs a sequel

It's a well known game so no new revelations. Good time especially if you're a fan of the books or movies. Great job designing the wand combat and integrating herbology. Broom flying is nice af I end up skipping fast travel just to do that.

Hogwarts is well designed and is fun to explore. There are a ton of collectibles to find but subjectively they were easy for me as I spent most of my playtime exploring the world.

Story is a bit meh and the actor face capture is not the best. There are also some trophies which you need to track manually like the one that needs you to hit every type of enemy with the ultimate and one for collectible chests.

Tip: if you're a pottermore/wizarding world user you can connect accounts to migrate your house and wand.

most year 1 spells are from dueling events that you missed so you can MAYBE get some of them when they have a blast from the past dueling event where you get a shot at one of the ones you missed but it happens like once a year so far in november

3 upvotes on reddit

Most of these year 1 spells are from past dueling events that rarely come back. Many of us wrote to support about this and a couple blast from the past dueling events brought back some old spells so there is hope. But we need to keep reminding JC that we want more chances to get more of the spells we missed.

As for spells and potions like Episkey, the forgetfulness potion, and the fire-breathing potion, these are learned during side quests that have been temporarily removed from the game by JC for more than a year.

Can you please join us by writing to JC about these? The more people that contact support about the dueling event spells and pulled side quests the better :)

I did extra study sessions just in case, but no more lessons were unlocked. Is this normal? Will I get a chance to learn them later / be in trouble for not having them in the future? Meteolojinx Recanto, the Charm you are missing, is learned in A Very Weasley Christmas which should trigger in December. Fire-breathing potion is learned from Help Hagrid! which has not been available in a long time. They recently returned a TLSQ about Tonks that had also been removed from the game, so hopefully we will get the Hagrid one again at some point.

If Google Translate is correct, you said that you played this one the other day. There are MANY Side Quests and Time Limited Side Quests (TLSQs) about helping Hagrid with things. From the main Spreadsheet, 5 of the Y2 quests are not currently available in the game. One of those is one just called Help Hagrid! which used to appear after Y2 CH6.5 and had 10 parts to it. You learned the Fire-breathing potion near the end of the side quest.

Quite a few side quests were removed from the game for "adjustments" and most have not been returned. The game used to have a lot more side quests that were NOT time limited, but they don't seem to do that anymore.

How to unlock all spells in hogwarts legacy

To unlock all spells in Hogwarts Legacy, follow these key steps:

  1. Complete Main Story Missions: Many spells are unlocked as you progress through the main storyline. Focus on completing these missions to gain access to essential spells.

  2. Attend Classes: Attend classes at Hogwarts, such as Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts. These classes often introduce new spells and abilities.

  3. Side Quests: Engage in side quests, particularly those related to specific characters. Some side quests will reward you with unique spells.

  4. Explore the World: Investigate the open world for hidden chests and secrets. Some spells can be found in specific locations or as rewards for exploration.

  5. Collect Spell Pages: Look for spell pages scattered throughout the game. Collecting these can sometimes unlock additional spells or enhance your spell-casting abilities.

  6. Upgrade Your Skills: As you level up, invest in skill points to enhance your spell-casting abilities and unlock new spells in the skill tree.

Important Spells to Unlock:

  • Levioso: A fundamental spell for lifting objects.
  • Accio: Essential for pulling items towards you.
  • Expelliarmus: Disarms opponents, crucial for combat.
  • Stupefy: A defensive spell that stuns enemies.

Recommendation: Focus on completing the main story and attending classes first, as this will naturally lead you to unlock most spells. Don’t hesitate to take on side quests for additional rewards and spells!
