Release Order vs. Chronological Order
When deciding how to watch "Jujutsu Kaisen," you have two main options: the release order or the chronological order. Most fans recommend watching in the release order as it aligns with the intended storytelling and dramatic buildup [3:5],
[5:2]. This means starting with Season 1, then the movie "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," followed by Season 2
[3:9].
For those interested in the chronological order, you would begin with the first five episodes of Season 2, which cover the Hidden Inventory arc, followed by the movie "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," then Season 1, and finally the rest of Season 2 [3:6],
[5:1].
Why Release Order?
The release order is recommended because it maintains the narrative structure and suspense intended by the creators. Watching the series in this order allows for a better understanding of character development and plot twists as they were designed to be revealed [3:10],
[5:7]. The movie "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" provides background on certain characters and events that enhance the viewing experience of Season 2
[5:4].
Where to Watch
For streaming options, Crunchyroll is highly recommended for its official and high-quality streams [2:1]. Other platforms like Funimation and various free streaming sites are also available, but using official platforms supports the creators and ensures the best viewing experience
[2:3].
Considerations for New Viewers
If you're new to "Jujutsu Kaisen," it's important to note that the story uses literary devices such as "In Medias Res," meaning it starts in the middle of the action. This can make the release order more engaging as it was designed to gradually reveal the backstory and context through flashbacks and additional arcs [5:2].
Ultimately, whether you choose the release order or chronological order depends on your preference for experiencing the story as it unfolds versus understanding the timeline from start to finish.
i finished season 1 but don’t know where to start after if the movie first then season 2 or other way around
honestly watch the first 5 episodes of season 2, then the movie then the rest of season 2. or just watch the movie then season two as normal
Watch Season 2 up to ep.5, then the movie, then the rest of Season 2.
I actually like that suggestion better for the whole geto plot
i cant find it
9Anime
Funimation
I'll dm you
Smells like a 🪴
Crunchyroll if u have premium, 9 anime , aniwatch are the ones I know I recommend Crunchyroll the most but if not I’d use aniwatch
Trying to help my uncle. (Story time line please)
EDIT: THANK YOU EVERYONE for your help!
Idk why anyone would watch it in chronological instead of release like intended. That’s like skipping to all the flashbacks in a movie first because it’s “chronological.”
Just because something happened first doesn’t mean the author didn’t withhold that information from the viewer for a reason. In regards to JJK it hits a lot harder watching season 2 after the movie, knowing what happens to geto. It’s called dramatic irony.
I'm so confused a lot of people are saying to watch s2 first then movie then s1 n the website im watching on has movie to watch begore s1 n 2. It's so confusing, I really want to start watching it now cus I don't have anything to watch n I had decided to start jujutsu since a long time but couldn't. Pls tell me the correct order to watch regardless anything
Watch it in the order it was released. That’s how it was intended to be presented to the viewers. You can always re-watch in timeline order later but I think it’s always best to watch things in the order intended by the production.
4 months late reply but hard fucking disagree. Good order is: season 1 > season 2 ep 1-5 > movie > rest of season 2 (big spoilers for others ahead).
Since we all saw "Geto" in season 1, and since he looks like he's the big bad guy in the main season 2 poster, him dying in the movie is just really confusing, because how does he still appear "later" on?!?!?!?!? Is what I thought after the movie, also, not having the context around Geto makes the movie less enjoyable (I had a hard time getting into it at all), and thinking that Geto will live makes his death scene confusing and weird (end of the movie kinda falls flat tbh), and knowing that Geto will die while still being confused on how he "lives" makes the the start of season 2 less enjoyable (I was perpetually midly annoyed during the whole first 4 episodes), even when you get the context in season 2 it's not worth it, everything becomes more enjoyable if you watch S2 EP 1-5 before the movie.
The long pauses makes people forget, I went with my sister to watch the JJK0 movie and she forgot Geto was death and didn't understand the reveal on the last episode of the anime lol.
I think the story can also be enjoyed in chronological order.
That’s a symptom of the pauses like you said though. Nothing to do with the order. If you watch in release order than it literally goes from the movie where he died, to the flash back episodes that are more impactful knowing he died, to the reveal 3 episodes after we’re back in the present
What happens to Geto hit me hard without watching movie
I think release order is the best and chronologically doesn't make much sense to watch but the order is season 2 ep 1-5, jjk0, jjk season 1, rest of season 2.
chronologically doesn't make much sense to watch
I haven't tried it but I imagine the only part that would be confusing is the character cameos in the movie with no introduction because they expect you to know who they are.
Like watching Gojo and Geto in school and their falling out, then the movie to show the aftermath of that, and then season 1 with Geto "alive" might be a bit weird, but we know something happened with Gojo.
Chronological order - Season 2 - first 5 episodes -> Movie -> Season 1 -> Season 2 :3
Normal order - Season 1 -> Movie -> Season 2 :3
Also have a nice watching :3
- Season 2 1-5 ep
- Movie
- Season 1
- Rest of the S2
Season 1, movie, Season 2. That's it, so far.
Edit: Oh, you mean internal chronology? S2 1-5, movie, Season 1, S2 6+
Perfect blend of supernatural action I have watched at MOVIEDVDRENTAL.COM
With stunning animation and intense fight sequences, the series keeps you on edge. The protagonist, Yuji Itadori, and his journey battling curses is both thrilling and emotional, making it a must-watch for anime fans.

jujustu kaisen?
here is one https://www.shoumietipiesic.com/movies/jujustu-kaisen.html
you can try it
didn't work
I can’t find JJK on there
Hello,
I'm new to the anime and binged Season 1 a few days ago.
I want to continue now but from what I gathered the beginning of Season 2 is a prequel and Part 0 is a prequel too.
So what would be the best watch order?
Thanks!
There's no "BEST" watch order. The story is constructed with the literary device "In Medias Res" in mind, so the proper release order would be the way the author intended it (Season 1 - Jujutsu Kaisen 0 - Season 2)
If YOU think this order is too boring or complicated, or just prefer regular storytelling, you can watch it in chronological order (Hidden Inventory part of season 2 - Jujutsu Kaisen 0 - Season 1 - Shibuya Incident part of Season 2)
That's not the author's release order. JJK0 released first before the JJK manga.
JJK0 is not a prequel, it was a one shot that helped him become a mangaka for Jump.
Then the editor made him change the plot, the main characters and it became the JJK we know.
Then he rereleased the JJK:0 as a proper prequel.
Contrary to others, I don't recommend watching in chronological order. S2's first arc has nothing to do with 0's plot, so you won't be confused, and it directly leads into the rest of S2. S2 eps 1-5 are almost certainly more effective if you see 0 first. Just watch 0 before starting S2 at all, like most anime-onlys did.
EDIT:
To be clear, the story was *intended* to be done in order of manga release - so 0, S1, S2. Obviously, anime-onlys didn't get that luxury. 0 assumes no prior knowledge of the series, S1 assumes some knowledge of 0 but doesn't require it, and S2 requires S1 (obviously) and very nearly requires 0 too to fully appreciate it.
Sooo watch the move first then the show? "Assumes you have no prior knowledge of the series" like most anime then, th beginning, so the movies basically 1 long first episode, yeah?
Yes and no. JJK 0 (the movie) is based on a manga the author created BEFORE Jujutsu Kaisen. He then created JJK as a sequel to JJK 0 (idr what the first manga is called). So JJK 0 sets up the world and many of the characters you see in JJK S1, with a different central plot and main character. There are a few references to S1 added to the movie (that weren't in the manga) since MAPPA released JJK 0 after S1, but the manga author intended readers to have consumed the movie story before reading JJK. So you can easily watch S1 then the movie, which most people did, but similarly you could start with the movie too as the general premise is explained there too. Honestly I'd recommend starting with the movie as it introduces one of the main villains in a stronger way than S1 does, and its fast-paced enough to hook you and make you want to see more.
I recommend you to stay the fuck away from any sort of social media content related to jjk since the manga is nearing the end and there are a huge amount of spoilers after a certain chapter
Luckily I'm not that invested into JK besides watching the anime, so I don't get news of this elsewhere, but thanks for caring!
What I do got spoiler though is >!that Nobara dies and I'm already sad :(!<
!if that made I sad then you’re in for a train of pain or sadness !<
I wouldn’t reconnect watching chronologically tbh🐍
Alright thanks!
You're welcome!
Chronologically should be:
Season 2 (1-5) - JJK 0 - Season 1 - Season 2 (6 -24)
Im in America, the movie came out two days ago and i cant find answers anywhere. Is it just in theaters in Japan currently?
Is that still the case?
The movie comes out march 3 I think but I know it comes out in march
So in Europe? Is there a way?
The movie comes out march 3 I think but I know it comes out in march
Yes unfortunately it is still only in japan
The movie comes out march 3 I think but I know it comes out in march
I wish to continue my descent into J horror and i'm looking for a good order to watch them in. Is release order good enough? I'm usually someone who doesn't like timeline order in some films because it ruins the mystery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ju-On the Curse 1 and 2, then Ju-On the Grudge 1 - 2. You can also watch the 2 short videos on YouTube that serve as part of Ju-On the Curse 1 titled Katasumi and 4444444444
😂 I watched the ju-on movie on prime and it was so fucking boring but I’d say watch all the juon movies 1-however many, then watch the grudge films
I did the same thing and enjoyed it. Definitely a slow burn though. I really dig the ghost design.
The original run starts with Ju-On the Curse 1 & 2 with the shorts Katasumi and 4444444 taking place somewhere during the Curse 1. Curse 2 contains the final vignette of Curse 1 and then expands from there (the first 20 mins or so of Curse 2 are literally the last 20 of Curse 1).
Then the original run ends with Ju-On The Grudge 1 & 2. Both of which were the first theatrically released films.
Black Ghost White Ghost technically has a loose connection to the original run. After that the other movies consist of a couple franchise reboots of IMO middling quality, and the absolutely bonkers Ju-on/Ringu crossover movie.
There's also the Ju-On Origins series on Netflix that I think is actually really fascinating as a reflection on the franchise, it's themes, all through the lense of the "true story" that "inspired" the original movies.
So to answer your question, there is no real perfect order to engage with the series and there's no single timeline. There's merits to doing a release order watch, and it's probably the easiest path to go.
Though it could be neat to start with the Netflix series and the watch the original get a perspective of how the original films "adapt" the "true story" told by the series. But that's probably best for a second watch instead of a first.
Literally what I’m doing now! I’ve seen the American grudge movies before a long time ago but never the og Japanese films. I’ve been getting alot more into different types of Asian horror recently as I’ve always loved the ones I’ve watched in the past. I figured I’d try a tried and true classic/cult series like Ju-On and happened to run across the Netflix Origins series so I’ve decided to watch it first and then start Ju-On 1. I also didn’t realize that the series was supposed to be more of a “based on a true story” vibe and the others weren’t. I’m glad I saw your comment and I’m excited to see how this plays out!
OK ALL TIMES WEEKS HELP SEE GOOD
There never is a good reason to watch films in an order other than in which they were made. Prequels aren't meant to be watched first, as they often draw on knowledge gained from previous films. It would be a little like re-editing a film Pulp Fiction to follow a linear timeline.
I saw the anime s1 when it came out in 2020. I now see two seasons came out? Or is s2 split into 2? What is the order of watch between Ouji no Kikan and Koubou-sen? Ty
It's just that season 2 has 2 cours (sets of 13 episodes) whereas season 1 only has 1. Just watch it straight through like any other show and you'll be fine.
Which one do you start with? 😅
Ouji no Kikan is the first part

yes, same thing
Yeah, movie is those 4 episodes put together
Yup
can someone please give me a full watch order ? no skipping anything please . I just wanted to begin this anime after Finnishing gunsmith cats
Ok, so real answer. Just watch Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 etc. and have fun without worrying too much.
The other Bonus content isn't that crucial or confusing to watch later.
But if you really don't want to skip a single thing, here we go:
Battle Stage 1 has a Battle between >!Keisuke and Seiji Iwaki!< which technically takes place after Stage 2 Episode 6. It takes you out of the flow though, so just watch it after Stage 2 imo. It's the 11th race in Battle Stage 1.
The Extra Stages kinda take place during the show, so it's hard to place them chronologically. Just watch Extra Stage 1 (Episode 1) after Stage 2 and Extra Stage 1 (Episode 2) after Stage 3.
Extra Stage 2 (Part 1 and Part 2) should take place after Stage 4 Episode 2 I believe? But it would be fine to just watch them after Stage 4 or something.
Now the complicated and imo important part. Battle Stage 2 has two races taken out of the middle of Stage 4. Those would be:
-In the Second episode of Stage 4 at around 21 Minutes in (you'll notice it as they show you the start of the race) Just cut to Battle stage 2 then. Skip to the race at 6:30 and watch it. Just be sure to pause after it's done or you'll get spoiled about the race after that.
-The next one luckily is at the end of a Episode. Pause at the end of the 4rth episode. Go to 16:15 in Battle stage 2 and watch that race. Again, pause right after the race ends so you don't get spoiled.
Thats it. If you want you can watch the entirety of Battle Stage 1 after Stage 3 and the entirety of Battle Stage 2 after Stage 4 and Battle Stage 3 after Stage 5 to get a little recap with cool different Eurobeat, but no further new content. Ignore the Ledgends movies entirely.
dude , you , are , a fucking legend . this is sooooo complete that I didn't even understand some parts (that's cuz I'm just stupid ) . thanks a ton buddy. btw , what is in the legends movies that make them unimportant?
They are like a reboot. They generally tell the same story as Stage 1 but very abridged and weird. They also don't have Eurobeat (big sin). The CGI animation is cool, but for some reason, its FPS is so low that it makes my eyes bleed. All in all, only watch it for funnies once you're completely done with the real show and crave a little treat. They are in no way, shape, or form a replacement or alternative to watch Stage 1. They also stop after the events of Stage 1 and will not be continuing ever, so just leave them be.
Have you also watched Riding Bean too? :)
As for Initial D order, well can't go wrong with the release year/date ordering.
I've been trying to find time to watch the bean bandit series too , I prob will really soon cuz I LOVED gsc :)
thanks a ton dude, yall have been amazing help 🙏
DUDEEEE , didn't think I'd Ever see a gunsmith cat fan outside of the gsc sub reddit . you're legit a legend
I was shocked I couldnt find a gif besides this.. I didnt realise at the time but this might actually be a gunsmith cats reference (shes the gunsmith in Wanted Dead and has a pet cat)
okay well first you wanna start with first stage, then after that you want to watch... second stage, that's right, and then third on the list is, you guessed it, third stage, and then of course fourth stage, and then fifth stage and then final stage. and optionally you can watch extra stages 1 and 2 afterwards
thanks dude , but what about the battle stages and the new inital d movies ?
the Legends movies are just first stage but with more stuff cut out and more faithful to the manga timeline, and battle stage is just a highlight of the races. watch those after the main series
I'd recommend watching those after you finish the main seasons
