What Redditors are Saying

How to Watch Attack on Titan in Order

TL;DR Watch the series seasons in order, and consider watching OVAs after Season 1 or Season 2 for additional character insights. The movies are recap versions and can be skipped if you're watching the full series.

Main Series Viewing Order

The main series of "Attack on Titan" consists of four seasons, which should be watched in chronological order:

  1. Season 1
  2. Season 2
  3. Season 3 Part 1
  4. Season 3 Part 2
  5. The Final Season Part 1
  6. The Final Season Part 2
  7. The Final Season Part 3 (coming in 2023) [5:1]

OVA Recommendations

OVAs provide additional background and character development but are not essential to the main plot. Here is a suggested order for watching them:

  • Ilse's Notebook after Season 1
  • A Sudden Visitor and Distress after Season 1
  • No Regrets can be watched after Season 1 or Season 2
  • Lost Girls parts 1 and 2 after Season 2, and part 3 after Season 3 Part 1 [5:1], [5:5]

Movies and Specials

The movies are primarily recaps of the series and do not add new content. They are useful for those who want a quick refresh but can be skipped if you plan to watch all episodes [1:1], [3:3]. The "Final Chapters" are special episodes concluding the series [1:6].

Platform Availability

You can find "Attack on Titan" on various streaming platforms such as Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Disney Plus for Seasons 3 and 4 [1:3], [1:5]. Netflix offers the first two seasons, but availability might vary by region [1:1].

For those interested in using VPNs to access different regional libraries, this could be an option to explore more availability [2:5].

In summary, follow the chronological order for the main series, consider OVAs for extra content, and skip the recap movies unless you need a refresher.

ORIGINAL POST

I’ve seen the first 2 seasons on Netflix like 3 years ago but I want to do a rewatch. But right now there are only 2 seasons and like 4 movies so if anyone knows the right order to watch them then let me know! Thanks everyone.

Seasons 3-4 are on Hulu or Disney plus if you have either of those. Also if you are a binge watcher, you can get a 2 week free trial for crunchy roll where you can watch everything there as well as some extra content not on the other sites

Yes! I thinks it because they are partnered with Hulu… you have to search for it, but it’s there (at least in the US)

The movies are just summaries for those, who have seen the seasons before (basically a quick recap).

Since you most likely will watch it without any big breaks, you won’t need recap movies…

Watch all seasons in the order it was released. On Japanese Netflix (use VPN) you have the last season in 3 parts, where the last part was released at first as two hour-ish long special episodes.

To enjoy the opening (Saigo no Kyojin) it is better to watch the episodic release, but not the very last episode, because it misses the correct “after credit ending”. So maybe the first 3 (I think) episodes in the episodic format with Saigo no Kyojin opening and then just watch the second special hour-ish long episode

Let me know in the private chat if you need any help

Attack on titan watch order

Posted by Smooth_Illustrator43 · in r/Crunchyroll · 2 months ago
post image

I’ve already tried looking this up but there are no answers that make any sense to me.

When I look up attack on titan the first slide is what I get. I’m trying to figure out the watch order for attack on titan now. I watched it years ago and I’m trying to rewatch it but I’m not sure which ova I’m supposed to watch and when and there seems to be way more stuff here than last time I watched it. I’ve also never heard of the 2 hour episode in the third slide.

If anyone knows which order i should watch everything that would be great as I’m currently on episode 22 already

Thanks.

I would suggest to just watch it in the order that you can find inside the show (first item in the list) and skip the OAVs that you can watch in a second moment.

That movie is just a "re-edits the epic action of Seasons 1-3 into one movie"

So to clarify I should watch s1,s2,s3,s4, then The Last Attack? Or is The Last Attack not important. I only remember there being s1,s2,s3 when I last watched this.

The last attack is a film that combines last 2 episode of the final season with small improvements. You can watch S1-2-3-4 except last 2 episode and then last attack or S1-2-3-4

I agree with the watch order, but say if you were to be completely new to AoT, watching No Regrets after S1E8 would also be interesting because that way No Regrets is not spoiled or you can watch it anywhere after S1E16 and might as well stick to the guide.

  • Choose the correct flair for your post, this is extremely important.

  • If the post is flaired "Season 1" or "Season 2" or doesn't have a flair, do not discuss Season 3 or manga in the comments or in the post.

  • If the post is flaired "Season 3 Part 1", "Season 3 Part 2" or "SEASON 4 [TRAILER/VISUALS]", do not discuss anything manga related.

  • Flair any Season 3 Part 2 posts or anything beyond that (S4, manga), otherwise your post will be removed.

  • SEASON 4 TAG IS NOT THE SAME AS MANGA TAG (IF IT WASN'T SHOWN IN ANIME YET, DO NOT SPOIL OTHER USERS, TAG IT AS MANGA SPOILERS!!!)

I watched all of them after season 1, but you could also watch them in their in-universe order (the OVA eps are set between anime episodes). Just don't watch No Regrets before starting the show

On my first watch I was told:

-Season 1: Episodes 1-25

-Episode 25 Post Credits Scene

-OVA Episode 3.25 (Ilse's Notebook)

-OVA Episode 3.75 (Distress)

-OVA Episode 0.5A (No Regrets, Part 1)

-OVA Episode 0.5B (No Regrets, Part 2)

-Season 2: Episodes 26-37

-OVA Episode 16.5A (Wall Sina, Goodbye Part 1)

-OVA Episode 16.5B (Wall Sina, Goodbye Part 2)

-Season 3: Episodes 38-48

-OVA Lost Girls: Lost in the Cruel World

-Season 3: Episode 49 (Has post credits)

-Season 3: Episodes 50-59 (Post credits in episodes 56 & 59)

-Season 4: Episode 60 to the end

On rewatches I just use the corresponsing episode number on the OVAs to know when to watch them. I always forget Lost Girls and haven't rewatched it though lol

S1.1 => No Regrets (ova part 1 and 2) => S1.2 => Ilse's Botebook (ova) => S2 => S3.1 => S3.2 => Wall Sina, goodbye (ova part 1 and 2) => S4.1 => Lost in the cruel world (ova)

This not "The Correct" order per se, but this is my preferred order. I feel the ovas in this order complement the story perfectly with where the plot is at the moment. For example S1.1 end with the introduction of Levi, Erwin and the scouts, the No Regrets ova complement this perfectly by giving us a bit of Levi and Erwin back story, we even get a bit of Mike as well.

The Wall Sina, Goodbye ova works well either before or after S3.2.

Do I Need to Catch Up Before Watching Attack on Titan: The Last Attack?

Posted by Responsible_Winter89 · in r/attackontitan · 9 months ago

Hi ATTACK ON TITAN fans, I need your help!

I’m planning to watch ATTACK ON TITAN: THE LAST ATTACK movie in cinemas.

The last thing I remember watching was Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season.

  • Is the movie going to be a recap or an alternative ending?
  • Do I need to watch the following before watching the movie?
    • Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season Part 2
    • Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season - Kanketsu-hen Zenpen (Attack on Titan Final Season: THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 1)
    • Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season - Kanketsu-hen Kouhen (Attack on Titan Final Season: THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2)

Responsible_Winter89 · OP · 7 months ago

Apparently, the movie is exactly the same as The Final Chapters: Specials 1 and 2. It's basically the series' ending. It's not a recap, so it's best to watch it after finishing the last season of the series.

I was lucky that I didn't have time to watch The Final Chapters specials before going to the cinema. However, I was already familiar with some events because I had read the manga, though I stopped at some point because I was afraid to see the ending.

Also, of course, I saw a ton of spoilers.

Watch the first 87 episodes (after Season 4 episode 28), then STOP right there and wait for the movie. OVAs too in-between the seasons.

I’m new to the series and since early october, I stopped at Season 4 episode 20, in the hopes we’d get a north american release date. And we did. I don’t plan on continuing until early Feb.

It removes NOTHING. It literally is an enhanced version, picture and [surround] sound, of the 2 specials combined, back to back. The total run time of about 2 hours and 25 minutes would equate to that of the specials separately combined, minus credits for Special 1.

**GO WATCH IT IN CINEMAS while you can. Yuichrio Hayashi stated himself that this is considered the definitive version of the finale and nothing else**

Can someone guide me on how to finish Attack on Titan?

Posted by Ragna_Blade · in r/Crunchyroll · 5 months ago

So I watched AoT years ago and finished "The Final Season Part 2" only to hear they were finishing the show with some movies. So I waited a few years and think that it is finished.

So now I am navigating Crunchyroll through Amazon Prime and I tried to look up the Attack on Titan. There are like 8 movies, some called the Final Season (with the title cutoff as "Final Season THE FINAL..." so I don't know if there is an order to them), some called Chronicles, one that is a new release (despite everything I've read saying the anime ended over a year ago) called Last Attack-S0N/A.

So trying to do more research I'm hearing all the movies are just recaps of the show and there are three episodes that are an hour+ in length called Final Season Part 3 part 1, Final Season Part 3 part 2 and Final Season Part 4 part 1 (with no part 2). Yet these episodes aren't listed under the AoT anime, so maybe they are some of those movies, or got taken off of Crunchroll. Or maybe the Crunchyroll library on Amazon Prime doesn't have them...idk the navigation in Amazon Prime is an absolute mess.

Can someone help me navigate which episode/movies to watch in what order to finish Attack on Titan, if it's even possible?

After the final season part 2 there are two special episodes called attack on titan: the final season the final chapters which complete the show. There is also attack on titan: the last attack movie which is a compilation of these 2 episodes plus a new extra scene after the credits.

The finale of Attack on Titan first released as two specials (most likely the two hour-long episodes you’re referring to) called Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Part 1/Part 2, on some platforms it might be named as Part 3 Part 1/2 as it’s the direct continuation from Final Season Part 2. Not sure where Part 4 Part 1 is coming from!

“Last Attack” is the compilation movie that just came out recently that combines the aforementioned Final Chapters Parts 1 & 2, with better visuals and a new after credit scene that adapts the epilogue from the manga. So after finishing Final Season Part 2, you can go ahead and watch Last Attack to complete the story. Or if you already started with Final Chapters specials, just finish both parts and watch the end credit scene of Last Attack movie!

Thanks. Do you by chance know which Final Chapter to start first. Like I said the title gets cut off (nothing I click on seems to expand the title) and they use the same place holder image of Eren attacking a town. One is 61 minutes, the other is 85.

The Last Attack movie doesn't cover the whole season 4. Only the 2 last small pieces of if. So you'll have to watch all episodes of Season 4 and then watch the Last Attack movie (if you prefer) since it covers parts 3 and 4 of the so-called "The Final Chapters", that were the last 2 long episodes of the anime.

The movie is simply a combination of the final two extra long episodes, apparently(?) with some touched up animations.

Just watch the seasons like normal. The movie can be substituted for the final two episodes, since it’s more or less a re-release. Most streaming services won’t/don’t have it anyways, it was a way to re-release it for theaters as a full length movie.

  4. Attack on Titan: Lost Girls (OVA)

    • Part 2: Episodes 17-28 (2022)
    • Part 3: Split into two parts, with the first part released in 2023 and the second part expected later in 2023.

Key Takeaways:

  • Start with the main seasons and then watch the OVAs for additional context.
  • The OVAs are not essential to the main plot but enhance character backgrounds.
  • The Final Season is split into parts, so keep an eye on release dates for the concluding episodes.

Recommendation: Watching in this order will give you the best understanding of the story and character development. Enjoy the intense and gripping narrative of "Attack on Titan"!
