Season 3 Part 2 and Manga Boxset
The release of the manga boxset for "Attack on Titan" Season 3 Part 2 was initially anticipated to be in December 2018, but it was later confirmed for June 18, 2019. This delay was likely to align more closely with the airing schedule of Season 3's second cour [1:1]
[1:5].
Final Season Release Date
The final season of "Attack on Titan" has been a topic of speculation and anticipation among fans. Initially, there were hopes for a January release, but due to scheduling conflicts with other anime series like Vinland Saga, an April release seemed more plausible [3:2]. Ultimately, the final season was expected to start in early 2023, with some sources suggesting January 10th, 2023

Production Delays and Considerations
The production timeline for "Attack on Titan" has seen delays in the past, notably between Season 1 and Season 2, which took four years due to insufficient manga chapters for adaptation [2:3]. The COVID-19 pandemic also affected scheduling, leading to further uncertainty about specific dates
[2:5]. Fans generally agree that taking more time for production results in better quality animation, even if it means waiting longer
[3:6].
Future Projects and Films
There have been hints at future projects and films related to "Attack on Titan," potentially expanding the franchise beyond its current storyline [5:5]. Discussions around alternative endings or new timelines suggest that the series may continue to evolve, keeping fans engaged for years to come
[5:11].
Anyone know the official release date? It'll have manga volumes 18-22 plus a bonus book. I've heard it is either December 2018 or June 2019.
Looks like it's been pushed back to June
Mmh, I wonder if that's proof this season wasn't supposed to be split-cour at first, which would partly explain why it got announced at the last minute.
I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. I have a feeling that because the manga is already available in individual volumes up to vol 26, there is no rush to release the boxset this month. It would make more sense to wait until the 2nd half of season 3 is finished to cash in on more sales that way.
June 18, 2019 definitely seems to be the new release date. Probably pushed back to more closely match with where Season 3's second cour is expected to be near its end.
Ah, yeah that makes sense. Darn, I was hoping it was this month. Everything comes out in the Spring!
I know it's meant to be 2020, but any more specifics beyond that?

I wouldnt expect anything until january or feburary next year.
The more time they take on it the better imo. Im sure isayama is not going to let a rushed product hit the tubes. We had to wait 4 years for season 2.
The reason we had to wait 4 years is mostly because at the time since season 1 had 24 episodes they had covered most of the chapters so there were not enough chapters for them to start working on a 2nd season right away to do a full 12 episodes
iirc it should be this fall, somewhere around late September to early October, but I could be off, especially with this corona situation lol
This son-of-a-bitch virus picked the wrong year to start fucking around.
I think, rather than ending on this date, the final season will kick off this date. Or, well, considering when it airs, it'd rather be on the 9th for us/10th for Japan (or maybe the 16th). But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it got a theatrical screening like the season 1 finale and season 3 premiere got, having that on the 7th would be just the perfect time to hype things up.
Agree. I hope and I think that it won't start broadcasting in January as many believe, Vinland is already scheduled for that month and is uncommon to overlap premieres (Mappa seems to do a release per season, so it makes sense). Bet for an April 7 release, also those few extra months would make a difference in terms of production.
Mappa does usually have 1 release per season, but don't forget jujutsu kaisen was airing about 2 months before final season part one and they ended at the same time. We could very well see something similar to this, and since final season part 3 is likely gonna be (my personal guess here) 10 episodes maximum, it could possibly start sometime in February and end right around April 7th
The longer they take, the better IMO. I genuinely wouldn't mind another wait like we had between season 1 and 2, as goofy as that might sound. There's a lot of stuff that I think deserves movie-tier animation.
>I think, rather than ending on this date, the final season will kick off this date.
Nah. I think it should end on the 9th. That's the anniversary date of the anime, and it's close enough, and it's on a Sunday.
Honestly, I'd still rather have it premiere then due to what it'd mean for production time. Besides, Chainsaw Man will still be ongoing during winter next year, and Vinland Saga will be kicking off, so it might be better to space it out a bit. They'll have a lot of productions going on early next year, as it is.
Hell, I wouldn't even mind them having a theatrical screening of episode 1 like 3 months ahead of schedule, and for them to air the season proper starting July instead. What's coming is gonna be tough to animate, more time for them to get it high quality is all the better.
they’ll do it when they make the final season part 5 👍
This is probably a joke but nah it's definitely ending in part 3. only 9 chapters left, and If they keep the current pacing then that's an episode per chapter which is 9 episodes, maybe 10 if they're feeling cheeky and wanna extend some stuff
I have copium that they will make 13 eps and combine it to a 100 EPS total.
10 year run. It's just perfect for the ending
What a man you are, release dates
10 year run implies they held a consistent schedule, multi year hiatus’ dont count.
not yet sadly. all that's been said is most likely sometime in 2023 (hopefully closer to the beginning of the year lol)
Thank you!!! 😍
Last I looked was January 10th of 2023... the post I saw was released in June for it I'm pretty sure
Sometime in 2023
Choose the correct flair for your post, this is extremely important.
If the post is flaired "SEASON 4 [NO MANGA SPOILERS/HINTS!]", do not discuss anything manga related.
"SEASON 4" TAG IS NOT THE SAME AS "MANGA SPOILERS" TAG (IF IT WASN'T SHOWN IN ANIME YET, DO NOT SPOIL OTHER USERS, TAG IT AS MANGA SPOILERS!!!)

They're really doubling down on the Muv Luv inspiration, huh?
We hope 🙏
It better be the Attack on Titan School Castes or Attack on High School: Marley Academy.
Nah it better be alternative ending, like another timeline.
Attack on Titan 3.0+1.3: You can (not) omnicide
Beren: aot next generation, the prophecy shall be fulfilled.
will it happen? Only ymir knows 🤫🤫
Didnt Ymir literally remove every eldians ability to be turned into a titan as she finally rests in peace?
I’ll probably get downvoted but I would love a continuation to the series. No prequel, no junior high… just give me more past the ending. Let me hope again lol
I'd literally give them my fanfic just cuz idk if anything else could top it
They're gonna milk this franchise for 10 years at least
10 years? They are still milking NGE which is like 30 years old.
https://www.cbr.com/attack-on-titan-last-attack-more-anime/
Apparently, they’re considering creating more Attack on Titan content, possibly films. It feels like they’re milking it, similar to what’s happening with Demon Slayer What are your thoughts?
I love aot with my full being but I am a huge believer of just leaving it be. The journey was amazing, it'll always be one of the best animes EVER, do not milk it and taint it's legacy. It needs to be left alone.
The only thing I could get behind is a few ovas to tie up loose ends or more into certain characters but that is about it.
It doesn't need to be smth that touches the main story
There's a lot of potential with things like School Caste and Junior High and I think Isayama is to be trusted so far that any AoT related media is a hit and smash
Man I would watch the hell out of an AOT Junior High reboot or continuation.
I wouldn't mind movie-length ovas, maybe more in depth look into Kenny and Levi's lives underground or a broader history of Warriors in Marley.
One of my favorite aspects of the show is it humanizes even those we see as the enemy. It allows us to see their perspective, and there's still plenty to unpack from the other side of the plot.
They should just make a full anime out of the post-credit scene in the last attack ngl😂
Something like a Hange backstory would be awesome. Stuff that doesn't interfere with what we have but adds more to the characters we love.
Adaptation yes but lingering it on for the next 3/4 years is ridiculous the manga ended in 2020 the anime’s gonna end by 2028 probably
They are not "lingering". If they had the power they would materialize movies for the entire manga instantly to Farm as much money as possible.
The quality they are doing the adaptation requires a lot of time to do.
Better to take their time and do the best adaptation possible than to do a shit job and having a bad anime forever.
I was confused AF at first, forgetting "Titanic" can also be an adjective...
Imagine, it's 1912. An iceberg just hit the "unsinkable" ship. Due to the chaos, someone steps on the paw of a random dog... and a giant titan suddenly appears...
Just to clarify: is the titan the dog or the owner?
Probably not. And if we did it would probably be awful if not written by Isayama who I don’t think wants to write anything more about the series.
Yeah my main hopes would be Junion High season 2 (in Marley) and a new game, something where Aot is quite lacking
tbh I wouldn't be mad about waiting longer if it meant getting a perfectly animated last season ♡
Great news! I don't know how Mappa is doing given the line up of anime they have scheduled for the upcoming seasons but, good for them I guess.
Lots of crunch for the animators.
Its probably not as stressful like wit as mappa has a bigger studio with more employees.
Well, i hope they don’t cut corners to get to the release date. I’d rather it be delayed for quality.
I’m really worried that it’s not delayed. This is THE season with the most action and animation intensive moments. They need to nail this season right to solidify aot as one of the goats.
I agree, and the rumor that the trailer was specifically animated and its not just footage makes me nervous. Here’s hoping they started working on it a while ago.
Praise the lord and his miracles. Hopefully its in one go.
Most likely 2 parts and from chapter count I guess 24+12 episodes.
I doubt its two parts, mappa never done part 1 and 2 adaptation. If you look most of their adaptation are 24 episodes and it could be the reason why they choose mappa as they have more man power to make the finale have 24 episodes compare to a small struggling wit studio.
Our heavenly Ymir, who art in the Paths Dimension...
Please God all I ask is consistently good animation please
Hey /r/anime! As I'm sure you already know from the dozens of countdown threads, hype threads, posters, art, etc., the fourth season of Attack on Titan is scheduled to be released later today. There's been a lot of confusion, rumours, and questions circulating about it, so I thought I'd post a thread to collect what we know about the airing and broadcast, plus act as a reminder for anyone who wasn't aware it was coming out!
Thanks to the mods of /r/ShingekiNoKyojin for collecting much of this information - I have created this post mainly based on their FAQ.
#What We Know:
The raw episode premieres Monday December 7th 2020 at 00:10 AM in Japan on NHK channel. That's just after midnight in Japan. Thanks to timezones, this means most parts of the world actually get the episode on the 6th. Countdown to the Japanese release. EDIT: The Japanese release has now already occurred.
Episodes will air weekly every Monday in Japan at 00:10 AM. Episode 2 will air one week from now, and so on and so forth.
The official English subtitles are slated for release on Crunchyroll on 12:45 PM PST today. That's roughly 5 hours after the initial Japanese release. Countdown to the official release of English subtitles. EDIT: The Crunchyroll release should now have already occurred, they may be experiencing technical difficulties. Different streaming services may release at different times.
Funimation has announced they will make an English dub, but no schedule has yet been given for the release of the dub. For Seasons 2 and 3, the dubbed episodes came out on average a few weeks after the initial airing. We don't know if this season will be similar or if it will be different yet. Still waiting on more news.
This season is being animated by Studio MAPPA, unlike previous seasons which were animated by Studio WIT. It seems to be in good hands though and several of the staff are the same as before, including the voice actors. You will notice some changes in the animation style such as an increase in use of CGI, but I'd recommend not panicking or anything until you've seen the final product. Let's keep an open mind.
This season was advertised as "The Final Season".
Where can I watch The Final Season?
Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of official places where you can watch with subs:
Other streaming services may exist for other regions. Check with your local service.
#Leaks and Rumours:
There are still many things that we don't have official confirmation for yet, but there have been some indications from secondary sources and leakers who have been fairly reliable in the past. Keep in mind that these things could still be subject to change and have not been officially confirmed yet.
How long will season be?
How many chapters will be adapted in The Final Season?
This is not fully known yet. As of the Season 3 finale, the first 90 chapters have been adapted. The manga is still ongoing and the latest chapter was 135, and it is anticipated to end within a few more chapters. Based on the trailer, the names of the first two episodes, and the leaked episode count, it seems that they will be adapting around 2 chapters per episode and will likely cover around 32 chapters and reach around Chapter 122. 2 chapters per episode is slightly faster than the series average, but is still a fair pace, not too rushed. Once again, this is not official information.
With this many episodes and this pacing, this season would not cover the entire manga. Therefore it is possible there will be a Season 4 Part 2 (like with Season 3), or some other type of continuation, such as anime movies. This is just speculation and we have no idea so far. Based on interviews, it seems that there is determination to adapt the entire story eventually.

r/titanfolk about to be fun for the first time in almost 2 years lmao. I remember they started delaying the eps last year cause people were leaking them hours earlier
ONCE AGAIN REMEMBER TITANFOLK IS MANGA SPOILER TERRITORY PEOPLE
That's a likely reason why the official subs are coming out 5 hours after the Japanese rather than only 1 hour. I guess they tightened security.
I don't see the point tho people are getting hands on the raws immediately after it airs
You don't need to know even have to know Japanese to understand it since you can just check the Manga panels lol
What will happens is that screenshots from the raws will begin spreading till the sub drops
As usual don't google anything, don't look up any images, be wary of instagram pages and twitter. Avoid all the downvoted comments on the episode discussion threads because it is likely to be a spoiler and do not, I mean do not check the comments for anything AoT related on YouTube. It is a fucking shit show down there.
Don't forget to close your reddit PMs too, some assholes PM spoilers if they see you post/ comment in AoT related subs
I just wanna point out that there's a few more streams availiable in SEA than just Netflix and their 3 days delay,
iQIYi will be streaming AoT s4 for all of SEA, HK, TW and China, CN/EN/TH/VT subtitles will be available at 8:00 UTC+8 and ID/MY subs will be at 11:00 UTC+8 source: Muse Asia
Bilibili Thailand will also have it streaming starting at 7:00 UTC+7 (so same time as iQIYi) with EN/TH subs I assume? source: Bilibili TH
Why does quiet possibly the most popular show of the year get a 00:10 time slot? Is it broadcasting on TV at that time, or is that a streaming release in Japan?
Are you new to anime? Most of the most popular anime franchises are broadcasted in the late night time slot for over two decades now, which is getting increasingly lucrative for the studios and producers involved.
Attack on Titan is not something you can show on national television during the daytime. This is the final slot on NHK, after which the channel goes on broadcast suspension till morning.
Only if you just count seasonal anime.
If you count all TV anime, then technically there are actually more long running anime than actual seasonal anime, and most of them are aimed at kids and air during daytime.
Most seasonal charts don't show them, because they either only list ongoing anime for its second cour, or because they don't list kid shows. MAL's season chart actually has a box you can tick to show all the kids shows.
Hell the fucking thumbnails and titles are spoilers. It's absolutely horseshit what people do. I'm glad I've read the manga because I'd be so pissed seeing everything before it aired
I think january, the mappa seasons always aired in winter, and this one has even less episodes, so I'm pretty sure production will be done by the end of the year. I think we are getting a trailer soon enough, probably 2-3 months before the official airing
All we know is 2023. I would guess January like it's been for the last few seasons. But with Mappa's busy schedule, I don't know if it'll be different.
Nobody knows. It's just 2023 for now.
2023, month not confirmed, it could be January or December, we dont know
The first quarter of 2023. In the worst case the second quarter. Most likely February or March. We might get a teaser trailer in November.
It’s so annoying. The Fandango email notification I signed up for, came through today. And they’re still not actually selling the tickets.
Whenever I go on to Fandango it shows a showing of it in a theater near me, shows ALL seats available but when I go to purchase it immediately sends me back and says “This Seat is Taken Please Adjust seating” no matter what seat. But AMC says tickets aren’t available yet, so does that mean fandango just isn’t letting people purchase them yet? I’ve been waiting for this release and I don’t wanna miss it.
That just means they’re not available for sale yet. Just waiting on an official announcement. You’re lucky that you have a listed theater already. I’m in Denver and there’s nothing yet.
I’m in Colorado as well, not Denver but I’m willing to drive there to see it. Hoping some tickets drop soon!!
Got this email from Fandango today, but I am still not able to purchase tickets in my area (Denver) May be different for other states.
Can anyone please explain my dumbass, what's the point of this movie when series has been done already long ago? Like, does it add anything to the story or is this more of a money grab? I genuinely dont understand
I wouldn’t call it a money grab considering it’s a one day only showing (afaik). It adds nothing new, other than being able to watch it alongside other fans that might be as passionate as you, and (re)watch the conclusion to the greatest anime of all time. Plus I think there’s a cute post credit scene that isn’t in the tv or blu ray releases, this last bit I’m not too sure about.
Originally the director wanted to release the last two specials as a movie but the studio wanted it as two finale episodes instead for reasons... I think it's because they made promises to tv network (not really sure though... shouldn't quote me.). But now they're finally doing it. I'm all for it because seeing it on the big screens is another experience. And plus, they play old/classic movies at theaters all the time... so I don't see the problem
can we finally buy tickets?
Not yet, but soon. Keep checking Fandango or have an email sent to you once tickets drop
There’s only one showing on fandango and it’s like 30 miles from me. Still no sign on amc 🙄
are all tix gone for NJ/NY/PA?
