TL;DR
Production Order vs. Airing Order
The consensus among fans is that watching "Miraculous Ladybug" in production order provides the best chronological experience. The production codes listed on fan wikis or official sites are considered the intended viewing order [2:5],
[5:2]. This order helps maintain continuity and character development, which can be disrupted by the airing order used on platforms like Netflix
[2:2].
Seasonal Viewing Guide
For newcomers, it's recommended to start with Season 1 and proceed sequentially through the seasons. However, some episodes, such as the "Origins" episodes, are meant to be watched at the end of Season 1 despite being chronologically first [3:1]. Watching the two or three-part season finales at the end of each season is also crucial for maintaining narrative coherence
[5:1].
Specials and Movies
The placement of special episodes and movies within the series timeline is important for understanding the overarching plot. For example, the "New York Special" and "Shanghai Special" should be watched after Season 3 [1:10], while the Shanghai movie takes place between Seasons 2 and 3 according to some interpretations
[4:1]. The Paris Special comes after Season 4, and the London Special follows Season 5
[4:3].
Fan Resources
Several fans have dedicated time to creating comprehensive watch orders that consider both narrative flow and character development. Websites like beacons.page/ladybugwatchorder provide detailed lists and explanations for their suggested viewing orders [1:5],
[2:1]. These resources can be invaluable for viewers who want to ensure they are following the story as intended.
Conclusion
While the show can technically be enjoyed in various orders due to its episodic nature, following the production order and considering the placement of specials will offer the most cohesive experience. Utilizing fan-created resources and guides can help clarify any confusion regarding episode sequence and enhance your overall enjoyment of "Miraculous Ladybug."
I've watched all three seasons of miraculous ladybug on netflix, but i noticed that the order of the episodes was wrong. And I also heard that there's a movie, so I was wondering if someone could help me out?
I've thought long and hard about this, so here is the order I would recommend for the first two seasons. I'm more than willing to explain anything you might find weird!
Season 1:
25/26 (Special): Origins

Season 2:
Special: Santa Claws

Season 3 :
Special: New York
Special: Shanghai
I've also tried making a chronological order for Season 2 long ago. I would appreciate it if you correct my mistakes (if I have any) and explain them to me :D
Sorry I'm so late at replying.
That's an interesting list you have there. I would love to know why you placed some episodes where you did.
Since you said "chronological" I'm guessing you tried to make episodes fit with each other.
I'm guessing the reason you have "Befana" after "Queen Wasp" is because in Season 3 they reference it happening after. I guess that works with the show lore, but honestly I think it's really weird to have it so late. I put "Befana" as episode 5, after "Despair Bear."
I think "Sapotis" should be after "Dark Owl" because that episode ENDS with Marinette and Alya hanging out, which flows well into "Sapotis." Plus I think that Alya helping out Ladybug in "Dark Owl" really leads to Marinette trusting her in "Saptois." Plus I don't think Alya would be so excited helping out Ladybug in "Dark Owl" if she already became Rena Rouge.
"Frightengale" is a bit low on the list for me as well. I think it belongs with "Captain Hardrock" and "Troublemaker" since all 3 episodes deal with music.
You can read all my reasons for the season 2 order following this link: https://beacons.page/ladybugwatchorder
thankyou sm! when i'm going to rewatch it i'll def use this <3
Here is the link to a great website with the correct order. You have to watch them by increasing production codes, 101, then 102, etc. This is the correct/intended order: https://miraculousladybugnews.com/episodes/
Just posting here again, since this is the first thing that comes up on Google when searching for the Miraculous Ladybug Order:
Feel free to go to this link to find my order for Miraculous Ladybug AND reasons why I have come to this conclusion:

I'm more than willing to talk through my thought process, rather than just say, "Here is a list because I said so." I put a lot of thought and research into this order! :)
Feel free to email at: ladybugwatchorder@gmail.com to contact me immediately!
Okay, so fun fact. The air orders are wrong, the production orders are wrong, and all lists here are wrong.(I checked) The chronological order of the episodes is a long sought after dream for fans. The producers of the show insist that the episodes independent of each other, but this is not true, forcing the fans to figure it out for themselves. Trying to figure out what is the order of the episodes is a pastime for me.
I agree with you! I donate a lot of time thinking about the order for Miraculous Ladybug! Feel free to check out my orders I made for season 1 and 2 and let me know what you think!

(Emailing me thoughts is the best way to get a hold of me!)
if you are new to the fandom them i would recommend watching them in this (chronological) order rather than the production or netflix order.

Watch the New York Special and Shanghai Special after season 3!
HI
I decided to start watching this show and I got super confused watching through netflix, none of the characters were introduced and I was just expected to understand things.... Until I googled and found out there's actually multiple watch orders for this show. Here's my question:
Which watch order is best? I don't think I'll watch multiple times. I just need an order that makes sense. So which one? Chronical, Release order, Netflix order or the one I found on Quora?
PS: This is insane, even Kara No Kyoukai has less watch orders than this show apparently. This is a kids show, why is it this complicated?! Im following the quora one until I get a response. Thanks in advance!
Def DON'T watch it in the netflix order lmao. That's a mess and the release order sometimes can get just as messy
It's literally impossible to watch it in chronological order because they're not written that way. Origins technically is the first thing that happens chronologically but is meant to be the season 1 finale. And there is a scene is a late season 3 episode that takes place at the same time as an early season 2 episode. So trying to watching the show chronologically will just fry your brain
Your best off with either the production code order or that link ladyburger gave you
Thanks!
well, here is the correct order, at least according to Miraculous Wiki
P.S. as I see, this is seconded by other links given in this thread
I watched the show in Netflix order and it worked out perfectly fine. It's clear that the order I was watching the show in wasn't perfect but as long as you understand that it's easy to forgive the show and just enjoy it on it's own terms (the same way you would for any of the other contrivances in the show)
Use the wiki the production number is the intended viewing order
Thanks!
I've found this to be super helpful! It's a list of all the seasons and episodes and why they should be watched in a specific order 🙏
I would still watch the origins episodes first though
I think needing to defend origins not being the first episode is funny. Like the writers actually did something very clever and well done by introducing concepts before having the origins episode so that the origins episode doesn't need to be 45 minutes of exposition. It's OBVIOUS that origins isn't the first episode, in fact that's one of the best things about the show.
The Animan placing wouldn’t work because of Alya and Nino becoming a couple
That's explained in the doc. They say that getting Nino's crush on Marinette out of the way early is great and that having Nino and Alya be a couple makes more sense for earlier episodes.
Thanks so much. I think I'll just follow this one.
Is the order of the episodes correct to the timeline on disney+ correct? And what order should i then watch the movies/specials in
I wrote this for some other user last year, but I believe it answers your questions.
Season 1 doesn't have a chronological order, except that Volpina is the season finale and Origins takes place first, albeit it's intended to be watched at the end.
For the remaining seasons, just follow the production order, which you can find on the fan wiki or the official website. On Disney+, only Season 4 is out of order.
Season 5 has a 27th educational episode about plastic pollution called Action which isn't part of the season's storyline, but chronologically takes place between episodes 21 and 22. It's on D+ in some territories, but is legally available for free on YouTube.
Alongside the seasons, there are four Miraculous World TV movies:
You can technically watch them when they happen chronologically, but since they were written and released after they're meant to take place, they spoil things which are first revealed in the show later. It's hard to explain without examples.
Lastly, the cinematic film with the completely different art style is an AU with its own self-contained story. One can even watch it before Season 1, but I'd suggest maybe finishing Season 3, as there's this part of the story which you might've not realised yet, and is spoilt in the film. I'd suggest not waiting to finish the show, as it doesn't have any of the storylines/new characters of the later seasons, so you can't compare them or something.
For all the movies, does it really matter if i watch them after I finish s6? Or does it only really matter if i know where/when they take place
If your talking about Miraculous World, you definitely have to watch them before Season 6. Characters from New York and Shanghai appear in Season 5, and London is practically a transition from S5 into S6.
YouTube and watchmiraculousladybug website
This post is for newcomers who are confused about which order they should watch the seasons and movies.
Season 1 - this is where the show begins and where you meet the main characters that stuck around for all of the show.
Season 2 - This continues where season 1 left off and it is less formulaic...
Miraculous World: Shanghai, The Legend of Ladydragon (movie) - This takes place between the end of season 2 and the beginning of season 3. This is placed here because if you watch the movie, Ladybug isn't worried about the miracle box and she would be if this took place after or during season 3. (Summary: In this special, Marinette visits her uncle Wang in Shanghai for his birthday.)
Season 3 - This continues where Season 2 and Shanghai left off.
Miraculous World: New York, United Heroes (movie) - This takes place between season 3 and the beginning of season 4. (Summary: In this special, Marinette's class travels to New York for French-American Friendship Week, but Adrien is not allowed to go by his father.)
Season 4 - this takes place after season 3 and the New York special. this is where we meet Shadow moth after Gabriel (Hawk moth) figures out how to repair the peacock miraculous and uses it.
Season 5 - this is where we meet Monarch after Gabriel steals all the miraculouses from ladybug.
Miraculous World Paris: Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir (movie) - This takes place within the timeline of the "Destruction" episode, occurring after Gabriel Agreste is injured by Cat Noir's Cataclysm but before he reconfigures the Miraculouses into rings, essentially happening during the overlapping events of "Multiplication" but before "Jubilation" in the series timeline.
Miraculous World: London at the Edge of Time - This takes place during the events of Season 5, acting as a bridge between the first five seasons and setting the stage for Season 6; essentially occurring near the end of the overall story arc of the first five seasons.
Did this help you? Let me know in the comments.
Shanghai takes place during Season 3.
it is? do I need to fix that so it's right?
Yes. We see Lila in the school so it has to be after Chameleon
The Paris Special comes after season four where Hawk Moth steals all of the Miraculous. Then the London special is after season five.
If New York took place after S3, wouldn't Marinette >!have to guard the Miracle Box!<?
Well, yeah, but it was hidden. It's not like she's in her room all day anyway, it's not really in any additional danger with her in New York.
The specials are designed to just be watched. They aren't designed to be "Okay I've watched episodes 1-5 now I go watch the london special"
Say what you want, for me, Shanghai takes place during season 4. It was just released slightly too early and Astruc didn't want to spoil that the beggining of season 4 brings back the status quo in the Marinette/Adrien relationship. That explains the presence of the new miracle box in the opening, and of the action figures of the new american superhero that couldn't exist before the New York special (even if it was "officially" an animation mistake).
It also explains why we see the chinese gangster at the end of the New York special. He couldn't have been in New York if he was arrested earlier in the year in Shanghai.
And it's certainly not the first or the last time Marinette leaves Paris and the miracle box.
Now, that's just my opinion. Place it whenever you wish. The official statement is that it happens sometimes before the end of season 3. I just have my own head canon.
I've been watching them on YouTube but after looking at Wikipedia I realized that I watched them in the wrong order. Or so I thought. How the h*** should I watch this show?(still on season 2)
If you're looking at the Wikipedia then Astruc has said production order is canon order
Generally you can watch the episodes in any order as long as you watch the seasons in order and watch the two or three-part season finales at the end of the season.
If I had to catch up I’d go to the miraculous wikia, find the French order of airing, and go through the episodes in that order
Not complicated at all..
I recently started getting interested in the Magical Girls, and that made me want to watch Miraculous Ladybug again after years. I vaguely remember some things, and I see that a lot of things happened in the series.
I have no problem watching the entire series, but I heard that the movie is better, and it would also save me time. Still, the movie is an adaptation and I don't know if there are many changes from the series or not.
Do you recommend watching the movie as a replacement for the first seasons? Or do you think it is better to watch the series?
I prefer the show over the movie, as it fleshes out other people other than Mari and Adrien more than the movie does (since it has 5+ seasons to do so plus specials).
I will admit to preferring (from a ‘human’ standpoint) the Movie Gabriel, as he’s more of a ‘father’ figure in terms of how they treat Adrien… but saying too much more would be spoilers if you’ve not seen both
I vastly prefer the show over the movie.
The movie is just an adaptation of the show with less screentime for the characters, the lore and rules not well explained and a really rushed ending.
So I really recommend the show. It's not perfect. With season 1 being more about world building than anything for exemple but the creativity of the episodes and season 2 with the plot who start to peak up really made for a really fun watch I you don't take the universe to seriously.
The movie is better but you can only appreciate it when you have suffered through the show. Then at the peak of your frustration you watch the movie and its gods gift
Real af. I wish I watched the movie after the Season 5 finale, it would've made the S5 finale somewhat conclusive rather than fundamentally underwhelming
The movie has NO RELATION to the events in the show, please keep this in mind. It isn't a condensed version of the show at large, it's a retelling of Season 1's Origins episodes, just as Jeremy Zag's own version.
Imo, the movie far clears the Origins of the show. No, I don't care that it's a musical, I understand the umbrella scene is ICONIC but the Movie had unparalleled production value.
While yes... the show is something to get truly invested in, the Movie is a magical experience and the best piece of Miraculous media we've been graced with. That's personally how I see it.
I'd say start with the show first up to Season 5, watch the movie, then continue the show with Season 6. It'll give you a heightened appreciation for the movie after you finish Season 5
Hello, this is my first time on this subreddit. I decided to re-watch MLB (since it’s been a very long time), and I was wondering if someone could provide me with the chronological episode order for S2, S3, and S4? I’m asking this bc I just finished Frightningale on S2, and I saw Luca in the music video. However, from I what I remember, we don’t see Luca until Captain Hardrock. Soooo…yeah 😅 I tried looking at the wiki, but I wasn’t sure how to navigate it 😅😅.
Just go to the miraculous timeline and you'll see.
Where is the Miraculous timeline? 😶❓
This isn't in chronological order. if you want to get them in chronological order you have to look at the production code. So if, for example, you want to see which episode is Episode 13 of Season 3, the production code will be 313, and for example, Episode 5 Of Season 3 will be 305 etc.
That's all there.
Thank you so much ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
It’s the production order. You can use the wiki to see the episode list and it will have the production order on the side.
A while back I did a lot of digging to try to work out a chronological order for things. Here's what I came up with at the time, note that all of Season 3 had not aired at that point:

Here's the handy graphic that I made at the time:
Note that these are NOT in production code order, and I cite various sources for a few of my determinations, based on various observatons and suggestions made by others.

HOWEVER, IMHO there are some significant continuity issues with the tail end of Season 3, and that's when I threw in the towel. Some things simply could not be easily resolved.
So for Seasons 3 and 4, production code order may be as good as any, just be ready for some 'glitches' in the continuity.
I haven't updated my 'Production Code order' graphic for Season 4 as of yet, I will at some point. Said handy graphic for Seasons 1-3 is here:
Season 4 does seem to flow well enough in Production Code order, although there may be some glitches in the continuity. As the episodes are being released out of order again, my suggestion is to just enjoy them as they come out, and maybe worry about continuity at some point down the road once the entire Season 4 has aired if you want to binge watch the whole season again. That way you won't have to worry about missing out on various discussions on this Reddit as episodes come out.

That's my two cents anyways...
;)
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the help! Greatly appreciated ༼ つ ◕◡◕ ༽つ♥︎♥︎
Is it OK if I start with the origin story first? I prefer what I watch to go in chronological order.
I love watching chronological as well (that's why I'm pissed at netflix). So I guess I'd watch it by production order, because the writers intended for us to see the Origins a little later...
Well, you're rewatching the show. So you should already know which order makes the most sense, shouldn't you?
Definitely chronological if possible, production order at the very least. There are actually quite a bit long term background stuff that emerges if you watch in order especially season 3 and 4
Production order shows Evillustrator before Lady Wifi which, if you remember, has Lady Wifi as one of ‘Super Nathaniel’s villains. So chronological order would be best.
I know. I know they are different and chronological is best but especially on the beginning I'm not sure the writers even considered continuity so if you striggle to find a chronological list you like to follow at least do production order. Not netflix/disney + order.
Why wouldn’t it be?
i think it is yeah
So I know I'm extremely behind with the watch, I don't wanna hear it!, but I'm desperate about this. I've practically watched all of S4 on Netflix and have felt like this entire thing was off somehow. And I'm just now realizing it's because for me, S4 isn't in chronological order 🫠 and I'd like to rewatch/finish this season correctly before I go insane tbh
I don't even know if it's considered S4? On my Netflix, season 2 and 3 are split so I don't know if S4 is S4 or S6?!?! I also have NONE of the episode names for "S4" only episodes 1-27. I'm specifically talking about the season with the family episode with the galette (S4 e21 for me), career day (S4 e18 for me), and Marinette's mom with the bus ticket (S4 E20 for me). (Again, I don't have episode names on my screen so I don't know which ones these are called by name)
(Also why 27 episodes and online I can only find 26 episodes?)
I've found all the lists with the episode names, but mine don't have the name only "episode 1". If there is anyone out there that has encountered this same issue and knows how the Netflix numbers directly correlate to the actual chronological order I'd be forever greatful.
My only other option is to play each episode to the title screen, make a spreadsheet with each episode number and correlating title, find a chronological list, and correctly label each episode in order. (I will but I was really desperate not to make ANOTHER spreadsheet about my shows and chronological/crossovers, it's becoming too much)
Also it's been like this for a while, no amount of updates, reinstall, or logging in/out has put episode names 🤷🏼♀️
THANK YOU AGAIN IN ADVANCE 😭
The order is correct, except that the last episode is actually a special episode about plastic pollution from Season 5. It takes place during Season 5, and was released after it, but was added to Netflix alongside Season 4.
Im tired, But Here’s what Disney+ says if you wanna compare
How do I watch?
UPDATE!!!:
From what I can tell, what’s labeled as “Season 4” on Netflix is actually season 4, at least the episodes match up on the WIKI page. The episodes are not in order compared to the WIKI publishing dates for each episode.
This is the chronological order FOR ME on my NETFLIX account. And because I don’t have episode names, I’ve included those with the lineup in case I’ve mistaken anything.
EP. 6: Furious Fu EP. 1: Truth EP. 2: Lies EP. 3: Gang of Secrets EP. 11: Guiltrip EP. 4: Mr. Pigeon 72 EP. 7: Sole Crusher EP. 8: Queen Banana EP. 13: Optigami EP. 14: Sentibubbler EP. 17: Rocketear EP. 10: Mega Leech EP. 12: Crocoduel EP. 18: Wishmaker EP. 16: Hack-san EP. 19: Simpleman EP. 21: Dearest Family EP. 15: Glaciator 2 EP. 22: Ephemeral EP. 9: Gabriel Agreste EP. 23: Kuro Neko EP. 5: Psycomedian EP. 20: Qilin EP. 24: Penalteam EP. 25: Risk EP. 26: Strikeback
Episode 27’s title name is “Action” and seems to correlate with episode 131 of the series on the WIKI? But season 4 stops at episode 104 (Strikeback). I’m gonna assume it’s bc Netflix was supposed to put a new season out and screwed up so only the last episode made it? Idk
Hopefully anyone watching on Netflix finds this helpful and if anyone knows where I can watch season 5 in English Dub that’d be great to know. Thank you everyone!
Ok so I’ve run into 3 or 4 different orders for the series. I’m trying to figure out which is actually correct. Is it the one on Disney +, or https://miraculousladybug.fandom.com/wiki/ Or somewhere else? Also Hulu is making me annoyed by saying Climatiqueen is episode 6 of Season 6 instead of Episode 1. But over all I’m a bit confused and want to make an accurate chart for what I’m working on. Please help!!!
theres a video by haze clarke on youtube of the miraculous timeline up until season 5 finale (and reverse special). Some dates were incorrect and are mentioned in the pinned comment
you can find the video here
Thank you.
Season 1 doesn't follow strict rules, except for some things:
So, basically, counting the production order and those notes, the order would be as on the picture.
Now, coming to season 2, there are less rules, or, should I say, less fluctuations from the production order.
Season 3 should be watched in the production order. After season 3 goes New York special. Shanghai's placement is disputeable, watch it after New York to be sure. Season 4 and 5 strictly follow the production order.
Season 6's order so far:
The movie isn’t canon
I’m not talking about the movie. Or are you saying the Miraculous World Movies aren’t canon?
Try IMDb, there you have a list of all episodes, now I don't remember if they are all in order (haven't watched this show from ep. 1 to 131 in a long time)
According to Disney+ The Evillustrator is episode 7, but on wiki it’s #2.
The Wiki is correct. But also in Season 1 the order doesn’t matter apart from Volpina being the last one
Thanks.
