TL;DR K-pop idols often represent luxury fashion brands such as Gucci, Dior, Chanel, and Prada. They are frequently chosen as brand ambassadors due to their massive fan followings and the significant market for luxury goods in South Korea.
Luxury Brand Ambassadors
Many K-pop idols serve as brand ambassadors for high-end fashion brands. For instance, EXO's Kai is associated with Gucci, while Jennie from BLACKPINK represents Chanel [5:2]. Other notable partnerships include BTS members with brands like Cartier, Calvin Klein, and Louis Vuitton
[5:4], and TWICE members with brands such as Michael Kors and Miu Miu
[5:1].
Fashion Influence and Market
K-pop idols have a significant influence on fashion trends, partly because South Korea ranks as one of the top consumers of luxury brands globally [4:3]. This makes idols attractive partners for luxury brands seeking to tap into this lucrative market. Their fans are known to purchase products endorsed by idols, further driving the brands' popularity
[4:9].
Unique and Lesser-Known Brands
In addition to well-known luxury brands, K-pop idols also wear clothing from lesser-known or niche brands. For example, BTS's J-Hope has been seen wearing clothes from 99percent, a Korean brand that might not be widely recognized internationally [2]. Stylists play a crucial role in sourcing unique pieces, often working with companies in Seoul that specialize in lending clothes to celebrities
[2:3].
Accessing Idol Fashion
For fans looking to emulate idol fashion, websites like Fashion Chingu sell dupes of outfits worn by idols [1:1]. Additionally, there are online platforms where you can find Korean-style clothing, offering both affordable and high-quality options
[2:2]. Some stores cater specifically to Korean fashion, providing a mix of trendy and traditional styles
[2:6].
Recommendations Beyond Discussions
If you're interested in purchasing items similar to those worn by K-pop idols, consider exploring both high-end and emerging brands. Luxury brands often release capsule collections inspired by their ambassadors, which can be an exciting way to connect with idol fashion. Alternatively, exploring local Korean brands can offer unique and stylish options that reflect the diverse fashion choices of K-pop stars.

Fashion Chingu sell dupes, most of what idols wear specially from the big 4 are fashion brands( I am not that knowledgeable with fashion brands so I let other commenters help you, hope you get your answer)
Like for example, when I see what BTS wears I always see these not so popular off brands that are amazing (but also the common popualr brands like gucci) . For example I found Jhope wearing these clothes from 99percent(Korean brand and they are amazing!!!) but I've never heard of them or see them anywhere. Another is Jungkook wearing this top from a brand called nothing whos clothes are super cheap for a good price (i bought a piece from them a while back and loved it) .
there's actually a lot of stores based on korean fashion! the clothes there are of good/okay quality and pretty cheap. you can't exactly find it in common, fancy malls where all stores are known and branded, but more on the less-known ones. it's like the middle of a fancy mall (and leaning more towards it) and walmart/thrift stores. some stores are also named after korean dramas like "full house 2" and such.
Are there any like that in the US? Like is there a online version of that. Because kpop fashion is kind of everywhere from low key american brands to UK brands nothing
here you go! it's a list of cool sites where you can buy cool korean style clothes online. i personally haven't tried some of it but im sure you can find a website you'll like :) some clothes are a bit pricy and others are cheap, but every clothing looks good nonetheless.
There’s a show called Omniscent Interfering View in Korea (about managers and celebrities) and one of the episodes highlighted a stylist and his comedian colleague Yang Se Hyung. The stylist revealed there are many companies throughout Seoul dedicated to this for only stylists and celebrities. They lend out the clothes, make a record of it like who wore it, for what event, reserve the clothes, etc. I thought it was interesting. Also many are freelance stylists. I just learned one of IU’s main stylist is a freelancer and not part of her company which was shocking to me.
They have stylists on their team. It's the stylists job to find cool pieces and designer items.

r/kpopuncensored is a better sub to post this question in. at least we'll be able to add pics.
Dior Stage Outfits worn by BTS
They are being used because of their fandoms. Combine that with the effect that SK has the biggest consumers of luxury brands out of everyone in the world. And you have a pretty obvious market
It shocked me that SK ranked first. It's no wonder these brands are getting ambassadors from there.
It’s wild that such a large amount of people in Korea actually buy the clothes from luxury brands.
I’m shopping at Uniqlo for a $49 shirt on sale for $29.
You’re outta your mind if you think I’m spending $249+ on some shirt made from the diarrhoea of a unicorn.
But sad thing is that they just buy shit because it's cool and to fit in or show off.
They go in to debt over shit like luxury goods. It's so stupid. Is something really worth that much more just because it has x logo on it?
The article didn't mention Giselle but she actually did REALLY well during fashion week in October! Her impact is ranked at #8 even above Rose and Jennie! I remember feeling so surprised but it didn't make much noise on reddit so I've been thinking about making an appreciation post...
I think it didn't make as much noise as you would think is because she had 6 posts, and iirc attended more than 1 event.
Isn't this the design from the get-go? Idols exist to sell an experience and advertise products, is it surprising that they sell experiences and advertise products well?
Kim K. has fandom?
Wow way to go enhypen!
It's because their fans will buy anything they shell.
Facts.
!I used that gif because of the plot of Josie and the Pussycats is subliminal messaging in music to sell products.!<
I can’t seem to find any website or database with an indefinite list so it would be really helpful - even if only for luxury brands like Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior etc
Checking down a list in this thread will also be really helpful if you happen to have any since this thread will show up on Google for anyone else curious in the future
Off the top of my head:
Gucci- (EXO) Kai
Dior- Sehun, Cha Eunwoo, TXT
Prada- NCT’s Jaehyun
Loewe- Taeyong
MiuMiu- Wonyoung
Valentino- Winwin
Aqua di Parma- Chanyeol
Chanel- Jennie
YSL- Rosé, Ten
Fresh- Joy
Hyunjin - Versace
TXT - Dior
Enhypen - Prada
Nmixx - Loewe
Hanni - Gucci
Hyein - Louis Vuitton
Haerin - Dior
Minji - Chanel
Danielle - Burberry
I only keep up with BTS brand deals, so here goes:
Cartier, Celine - V
Valentino - Suga
Calvin Klein - Jungkook
Dior, Tiffany's - Jimin
Louis Vuitton - j-hope
Bottega Veneta - RM
NCT Mark - Polo Ralph Lauren
Stray Kids Hyunjin - Versace

TWICE Sana - Graff (high-end jewelry)
TWICE Mina - SK II
TWICE Momo - Miu Miu (Japan)
We all know that the guys are getting deals with certain designers, which is great. However, if you had the choice which designer brand would you match each member with. For example Hongjoong I'd match with a brand like Vivian Westwood as I think he suits the avant guard british design look. Yunho I think I would go for classic design such as Dior and Ozwald Boeteng because he looks so good in a suit. Mingi perhaps someone like paco rabanne because of the slighty edgy, young and successful vibe I'm still thinking about the rest but would love to see what brands others would choose
I hope to see Yeosang work with Prada ofc, but Martine Rose would be interesting (lowkey for Wooyoung too). Yeosang wears statement pieces that are not easy to pull off (plaid jacket with fringe). He is also a bit random with his fashion choices so with a brand like Martine, there would always be something interesting. Miu Miu would also be cool on him. As for Mingi, I am begging for a partnership with Diesel, the brand suits him so much. Mingi would also work well with Jean Paul Gaultier or Alexander McQueen.
I can certainly see Mingi with Diesel, he would really suit that brand
Gucci or Versace on Wooyoung.
Definitly agree about Vivian Westwood for Hongjoong
Ikr, he would just vibe with it so well
Have given San’s a bit extra thought in the past as I despise D&G.
Maison margiela really fits yeosang!!!
I can definitely see Jongho and Celine
Rightly so for their racism towards East Asian culture
For some reason my comments are getting removed because they are not in English...a lot of designers have non-english names
Edit: I should’ve asked for pictures 😭
I’m looking to revamp my style a bit and want to look to idols for some inspiration! Both male and female idols are welcome as I tend to have a pretty androgynous style.
My favorite girls right now are Lisa and Sunmi, and my favorite boys are Hongjoong and The8/Minghao!
hmm- maybe jiwoo from kard? i heard ppl like her street style
The8/ Minghao from Seventeen.
Key from SHINee!!
key from shinee is actually a fashion designer! he’s been designing shinee’s stage outfits for years, and he’s one of sm’s fashion directors. he’s basically south korea’s fashion it boy.
I love Key’s fashion too but I didn’t know about the designing! That’s so cool, thanks!

These boots are RIDICULOUS. I need them.
Red Velvet in custom Denicheur dresses for their R to V tour
They do SUCH a good ethereal/royal look and some of these fits are genuinely iconic (the red IU dress!! The Feel My Rhythm stages!!). No notes. Chef’s kiss.
I love IU in the red dress!
Agreed. I mainly wanted to highlight the brand because they are responsible for so many iconic K-pop looks.

Yes!
Like I’ve always wondered if most the airport fashion of a lot of idols or groups are “real” or actually pre-styled by their company?
Like don’t get me wrong there are idols with the best fashion looks in airport appearances like they could just have a casual look and yet they will always eat it up, sometimes it could even become a huge trend in the fashion world as well!!
But sometimes I feel like most of the outfits of many airport appearances these days feel like their company like chose the clothes like how they chose outfits for their schedules and even prestyled too maybe it’s just me.
So if the outfits are actually prestyled do you also think that the brand deals they have could also be the reason why?
I wanna know thanks
Yeah, they pretty much style it up.
Every once and a while some idols DGAF and will wear something like they just rolled around in a pile of laundry, which I find endearing and funny. G-Dragon I think is one of those who shows up looking like a hot mess which sort of fits his style. He wears mismatched crocs and stuff like that. He is a big fashion guy, so he may be wearing brands, but he looks like a 5 year old dressed him. The girls in Mamadoo are notable for showing up wearing sweatpants and oversized t-shirts and stuff.
I also liked when BTS would dare each other or make bets where they would then have to wear something weird or specific or goofy on their next trip to the airport. I know other groups do that too. I think a classic instance of this was Changsub (BTOB) lost a game or something and showed up to the airport dressed like the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz and wobbled around.
Went and found a pic of this last thing:
I have no doubt that idols have airport fashion planned out by their company because of their brand deals. The average person at the airport isn’t dressed like they’re photo ready so we need to be realistic that idols have to dress to be ready for cameras. This also makes it worse for the situation of too many fans going to airports to catch a glimpse of them.
AFAIR "airport fashion" has become a thing since ca. 2010 exactly because of fashion brand deals.
That's why the out-of-control situations that can occur are to some extent a self-inflicted situation.
We already had suspicions that groups were getting styled/sponsored with specific outfits way back in the 2010s lol
It got really obvious when they were all suddenly dressed in outfits that most would not consider comfortable for actual travel.
As just responded to another post, it apparently started back in the 2010s, both idols/agencies and fashion brands taking advantage of the publicity.
They absolutely are. Especially when they know they are going to get photographed. I think/hope they get changed for the actual flight. I would hate to be stuck in a plane for hours in a full fit lol
Fr like when I go to the airport I just wear a hoodie and some sweatpants that’s it lol😭😭😭😭
They are also flying first class and some will change on the flight.
Same! I always bring a sweatshirt because it can also be used as a pillow. And leggings. Always. Hair in a pony, no makeup, and a giant iced coffee.
I think it really depends on the group. I've seen idols picking out their own clothes for the airport in vlogs before. That said, idols with brand deals will absolutely wear said brands whenever theres a chance of being photographed.
Since i'm boring.I was wondering why kpop fans want their biases to be an ambassador of high fashion brand? Or why fashion brand targetting kpop to promote their brand. Because i don't see their influence towards buying power of the brands or It is because they want to increase their brand name to be more known. As far i can see high-end fashion usually catered for the rich or high earning people. I thought these brands usually have a track of buyers.
And i notice among high-end fashion brands, it seem versace does not have ambassador from korea while the other brand does. (Or maybe they do but i don't know. Do tell me if they have one 😣)
In my opinion kai, blackpink mambers and gd are the one who i see successful in high fashion brand as they're doing campaign for their respective brands.
Since i'm nctzens who do you think in nct are suitable for high fashion?
Sorry for a long question and my grammar , i hope somebody can explain it 😆.
First of all high fashion is not that important in kpop at all.
Rather even cf's and etc are much bigger deals in the long run, like a Tropicana cf propelled Jooe from Momoland to instant fame, and there's a saying that if a celebrity finally gets a chicken cf, it means they made it.
High fashion is more of just a sort of bragging right, artists also get clothes from the brand but it's not such a big deal in the long run. Groups like Oh My Girl have gone without them and are hugely popular, even BTS although signed recently, had most of their success without a deal like that ever.
Also i would say any idol signed to high fashion is successful in it, to claim GD, Kai, BlackPink are the only ones just doesn't make sense.
Also it's hilarious how much people hype up these high fashion brands without knowledge of their looks.
Like I like Miu Miu, so I was happy Wonyoung seems to be working with them more. On the other hand brands like Chanel can churn out such disappointing looks that I personally wouldn't want any idol I follow being tied to them.
edit: Also it's sad how kpop idols always go to the most basic brands, like getting a Moschino idol rep that would be actually interesting
I never hype this high fashion brands though 😅. I don't know wonyoung works with miu miu. Interesting. Honestly, i don't like my bias to get high fashion endrosement unless they fit the image brand. In my opinion the idols that gives me high fashion model image is kim dayeon from weki meki. you can disagree.I agree with ur last words, never like chanel collection these days. Poor jennie it seem it restrict her from using another brand. Anything with chanel will be tied to her name. Sorry for long reply and bad grammar. 🙏
Kpop idols have a lot of reach and influence, which is attractive to top end brands
In turn, if an idol becomes a brand ambassador, they essentially become a walking advertisement because they wear the clothes of their affiliated brand to shows or events with high engagement or high publicity
For companies, it’s lucrative to have a partnership with high end brands because the company and idol get paid for advertising the brand. But I wouldn’t say it’s important for a company to bag a high fashion designer for their idols
It’s all got very little to do with gaining new consumers and a lot to do with advertising
As for NCT, I can see Jaehyun becoming the brand ambassador for Prada, especially after how successful his livestream was last night. Jaehyun being the first celebrity to stream the show is a big deal for him, SM and Prada
Interesting .My bias is jaehyun but i can't see jaehyun and fashion in one sentences. But i understand if they want the hype. I don't know why the i'm thinking like that like my bias is jaehyun . Because for me in nct, taeyong seem to be looking high fashion. I accidently found a tweet on my tl a pic of taeyong in magazine( i don't remember the name) and it looks so good even though he is not my bias. He's giving me high fashion vibe.
But thank you for sharing ur explaination it does make sense. Sorry for bad grammar. 🙏
I mean, it'll give them more money. Being ambassadors gives you more money.
Plus in cases like Kai, Sehun, all of Blackpink, they actually attend fashion events and that gives them real good name and helps climb up.
In general, they probably make more money out of 1 of those deals then they might make in selling a million albums.
Ohh really, i thought some of ambassador doing for free because i saw an article about it but it may change because i read it like 2 or 3 years ago. Thank you for ur explaination 👍
Only a few deals in fashion are lucrative as luxury brands are not known to shed a lot of money to the models except when it's MAJOR campaign like deals with A LIST hollywood celebrities. See Emma Stone with LV was paid like 6 to 10M USD for 2 years contract. So basically like 3 to 5M USD a year then Jennifer Lawrence was paid the same by Dior. So unless you are an A list hollywood celeb, you are not getting paid big. Commercial deals are still bigger. For comparison BTS was 'rumoured' to be paid by McDonald's 10M USD for their global campaign within 2 months only. What's amazing is that they only shot 1 commercial and voila.
Saint Laurent have increased their sales in Asia a lot since Rosé is with them, they gave her campaigns for clothes, bags and eyewear and they are getting results, also I'm sure Rosé has increased her popularity since then, so those 2 really work, same with Lisa and Celine etc, it also depends of the Idol and how much they promote that brand.
Ahhh. Thats why, Thank you for ur answer 😃👍.
it’s good for brand awareness
oh gosh.. an upvote for you for making my day lol
