TL;DR For laptops with exceptional battery life in 2023, consider models like the Apple MacBook Air M2, Dell XPS 13 Plus, and Asus ZenBook 14 OLED. These models are known for their efficient power management and long-lasting batteries.
Apple MacBook Air M2
The Apple MacBook Air M2 is renowned for its impressive battery life, often lasting up to 18 hours on a single charge. This longevity is largely due to Apple's custom silicon chip, which offers high efficiency alongside powerful performance. The MacBook Air is also lightweight and portable, making it an excellent choice for those who prioritize battery life [4:7].
Dell XPS 13 Plus
Dell's XPS 13 Plus is another strong contender in the realm of battery life. It combines a sleek design with robust performance, and users have reported battery life stretching beyond 12 hours under regular usage conditions. The laptop features Intel's latest processors, which contribute to its energy efficiency without compromising on speed or functionality [5:6].
Asus ZenBook 14 OLED
The Asus ZenBook 14 OLED stands out with its vibrant display and commendable battery endurance. Users can expect around 15 hours of battery life, thanks to its efficient hardware and software optimizations. This model is particularly appealing for creatives and professionals who require both visual fidelity and extended use without frequent charging [5:5].
Factors Affecting Battery Life
Battery life can vary significantly based on usage patterns. Factors such as screen brightness, refresh rate, and whether power-saving modes are enabled can all impact how long a laptop lasts on a single charge [4:1]. Additionally, connectivity options like 5G can drain batteries faster than Wi-Fi connections
[4:2].
Considerations Beyond Battery Life
While battery life is crucial, it's also important to consider other aspects such as performance, portability, and build quality. Some users may prefer laptops that offer a balance between these factors rather than focusing solely on battery longevity. For example, while Intel-based devices might offer great performance, AMD alternatives could provide better power efficiency [3:11].
In summary, when selecting a laptop based on battery life, it's essential to weigh this factor alongside your specific needs and preferences to ensure you choose a device that best fits your lifestyle and work requirements.

One thing to consider is the operating system. The ROG Ally X runs on Windows 11, offering broad compatibility with PC games. The MSI Claw 8 AI+ also runs on Windows 11 but has some unique features like Intel's XeSS 2.0 for enhanced graphics performance
One extra inch can make all the difference 👌🏼 Got the Go S with an 8' screen and so good
Battery life kills that for me :/ The Claw 8AI+ lasts twice as much in terms of battery life. And the Ally X is also considerably longer in terms of play time
I had the opportunity to buy either one and I went for the Ally X because of the size alone. With a case on, I think Claw will be massive and not portable at all lol. The Claw has great specs but ultimately you're looking at a 15% boost in performance at best over the Ally X. Software is also not as good as Armoury Crate (or you can install Bazzite if you want to go that route). I also noticed that there's barely any accessories for the Claw, if that bothers you at all
Definitely more than 15%. The Intel APU trades blows with Z2 Extreme. In some games, it's 30%, especially at 18 watts.
That's awesome, how is the game compatibility with the Claw 8? I heard the intel drivers are not as mature and could cause issues running certain games. Do you know if this is true?
Great call-out. But honestly, both seem like backpack devices? Or have you been able to pocket the Ally X in a large jacket?
Software is absolutely worse on the Claw which is what concerns me. But the performance jumps specially at 17 watts on the Claw seem insane. People are achieving the same numbers as on the Ally X in 30 watt turbo mode which is fantastic for battery life. It really does seem like a generational leap between the battery life being nearly double in some cases, the better performance, and massive screen size increase as well as much better contrast ratios.
Still, I don't know yet if the better software alone is worth the worse hardware on the Ally X. Portability is nice I guess, but they are both super bulky already and not something I'd bring without a backpack. And from what I've seen, the 8AI+ is about the size of a steam deck which I own already and have no problems with regarding size
I own both I would go with the claw 8 ai for the screen alone
Anything you miss about the Ally software? (Armory Crate, Bazzite, etc). Or any potential software deal breakers on the Claw?
I didn't miss anything I kept both lol. Claw 8 ai is not perfect though. Some times games have issues because intel drivers are less mature than. Amd.
How’s the comfort level on the Claw 8 ai? I’m trying to decide between that or Xbox ally x.
I really don't like Intel for their decades of anti consumer behavior, and the fact they are getting crushed by AMD despite that, makes me happy. They were fined for doing a lot of this stuff, but its a drop in a bucket compared to what they made. Saying that, would never touch intel even if it was better.
Its really confusing, i dont know what to believe anymore. Plus i dont want to buy chinese android phones too
One and only thing that drains exynos is 5g...if on wifi you can get around 7 hrs sot sith media useage
To be honest from my experience with this phone(Exynos) you have to charge this phone twice or thrice a day but apart from that everything is just perfect and extremely smooth. Another friend has the plus variant and also has a similar battery life. Tried all kinds of battery saving measures but it didn't work so just accepted it because how good the phone actually is!
Yeah most i get is 6 hours on 5g but its chill i don't care anymore
Which phone would you buy now if you had the same budget
There is OnePlus 13 and Vivo in this budget but I wouldn't go there. Could probably put in some more money and get an iPhone 15. Also pixel 9 would be a great choice.
Clear cache after every update, it works wonders on the battery life of the S24 series...
What cache?
The entire S24 line up suffers from it... It only takes a minute to fix it though 🙂
here's mine. on wifi only tho
It's going to depend on a few things.
I have the S25U so a bit of a different case, but I use power saving almost all the time unless I'm playing games, brightness is set to adaptive and I have automatic routines set up to limit the refresh rate to 60 in apps like TikTok, Instagram, YT, etc where they won't really be necessary.
Also try clearing your cache and set up the automatic restarts, sometimes that's all you need.
Still on an F3. My volume buttons stopped working last year, so I spent about £5 on a new cable/buttons. Then a month ago, my battery started acting up (70% to 5% in a moment) so I swapped that out. That works fine, but I damaged my new volume cable by being stupid.
It does everything I need, debating buying another volume cable
What battery did you use and how did you test it ?
What ROM are you on ? I have one on hyper and the other in stock but I have not done a deep debloat.
Kind of funny as I got 3 fast charge cables that are 2m long on Ali express and a pack of stickers by playing some games on a new account for a penny .
For me I feel the same, just wish I could change the camera and mod the battery to be extra big. Have heard of people putting in multiple batteries to phones similar to the F1
If my F3 ever died not sure what I would replace it with. Been heavily used and runs like new i think it's probably the best 5g phone ever made for the price and one of the best deals ever in the UK as it was even cheaper than the CN version in China at the time.
Not sure if I would get another Xiaomi .
It was this one. I know I could get cheaper but I wanted it quickly.
I've had a few Poco phones and not been any more disappointed than any other brand. Bear in mind I've been a mobile user since 1997. Things have never been so good my friend

To counter this a bit, I've had a single BSOD in 20+ years of computing, but had significanlty more kernal panics on Macbooks (albeit on Intel CPUs).
M series has been rock solid, but honestly most people who've had bad experiences have likely just been scammed by ASUS, Acer, etc into buying a dud laptop from the off.
I can only imagine the relief of never having to deal with all of that and just getting to enjoy your computer now you have a Mac.
Unfortunately I love technology and with that comes the endless pain and suffering of optimising Windows and Android.
How about the storage? Are you facing any issue. And what is your primary use? I'm confused between getting a 256GB version with an external ssd or 512GB version without an external ssd.
My advice is to go for the 512 GB model. I have 256 GB and 512 GB ext ssd and I wish I had chosen the 512 GB model.
what do you usually need the extra memory for? personally i place all my pics/videos on a external drive and i been alright with the space. I guess i don't use that many apps
I went for the 256 and 2 x external drives. 1 x 8TB on my desk and 1 x 1TB I carry with me always. Never store anything on the MacBook for more than a day. When I'm home it all goes too the 8TB drive and if I'm out working in a video or photos then they copy to the external 1TB drive or to the MacBook temporarily.
Have done this with all laptops, tablets and phones
Well happy with the 256GB
That's pretty much what i do. Not sure why you need more than 256 unless you run a ton of apps and games.
Nice and detailed review.
You know the difference between the actual post and the title?
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: • Up to $2,000 USD — purchasing in the United States
Are you open to refurbs/used? • Yes, as long as it’s from a reputable source with a good return policy
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? • Priority order: 1) Performance, 2) Battery life, 3) Build quality, 4) Form factor (open to standard laptops, ultrabooks, or thin gaming laptops)
How important is weight and thinness to you? • Somewhat important — I’ll be carrying it to class, so lighter is better, but I can compromise for better specs
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. • Prefer 14” to 16” screen size range
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. • Mostly using Excel and school-related programs • Occasional AAA gaming and media streaming
If you’re gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? • Would like to play AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, or similar at medium to high settings with decent FPS (ideally 60+)
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? • Reliable build quality and comfortable keyboard are important • A good screen for watching movies is a big plus • Touchscreen and fingerprint reader are optional, not required
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. • I’m mainly looking for a well-balanced laptop that can handle schoolwork, casual gaming, and media consumption with good battery life since I can’t always plug in while on campus. I’m open to different brands and builds as long as the performance and reliability are there. Would love recommendations under $2,000 — or even less, if possible!
ngl just get yourself a macbook or lenovo which will get you slim/lightweight, good battery and good performance for school programs. then build a desktop pc for gaming
using a gaming laptop for school is like the worst of both worlds imo
Thank you for the recommendation I currently have a MacBook just doesn’t work how I would like it for excel. I do have a nice gaming rig desktop setup but I do travel a good bit so something that would do both is great.
Refer to Jarrod's Tech on YouTube for a recommendation. Never play games on battery.
For gaming at this price range I would advise you to check this laptop
laptop name | Lenovo Legion 5i --- |--- CPU | Intel Core i7-14700HX GPU | RTX 5070 Screen "| 165Hz 15.6WQXGA Gaming Laptop Ram | 16 GB SSD | 1 TB HDD | 0 Weight | 5.68 Lbs. Battery life | 7 Hrs. Pros | Sharp, bright display. Pros | Exceptional performance. Pros | Great screen .

I like the HP Omen series of Laptops, Current HP has an Oman Transcend 16 that has a RTX 4070, 32GB ram, 1TB SSD for $1800. They also tend to go on sale at various retailers.
Since you prioritize performance and you are going to game, and if you prefer a long battery life and lightweight laptop, then I would recommend Acer Swift X because of the following :
Specs:
Why I am recommending it:
Powerful GPU in small form factor, 14 inch laptops with powerful GPU are rare breed, and this config/model hits a great balance between the two.
High-Quality Display*: This features a OLED 2880 x 1800 120Hz which is better resolution display, providing vibrant colors and sharp visuals
Long battery life as it lasts for around 12hours and you care about it .
Very good GPU and CPU for AAA.
Lightweight as it weighs 3lbs so you can carry it easily.
Premium build quality and material which ensures longevity.
And if you can handle a little more weight and would be okay with a little shorter battery life, in order to get better GPU, then I would recommend this Lenovo Legion Pro 5i because of the following:
Specs:
Why I am recommending it:
Great heat management which is the main concern to have with most high end gaming laptops.
Premium build quality : Aluminum chassis provides a solid, premium feel and added durability.
Up to 5 hours of battery life, which is decent for a high-performance gaming laptop, allowing for moderate usage away from a power source.
Powerful GPU and CPU for AAA.
High quality screen .

Don’t buy gaming laptop pls
I travel a lot and need something to game when I’m out of town
This is like asking which dragster gets the best gas mileage
I have an asus zenbook s14 oled.. its very lightweight, battery is also great, performance is comparable to a 3050 rtx.. but the main issue is overheating due to demanding games..
I don't do gaming, strictly work and don't need beefy specs. Whats the best battery Life Laptop in the market, when it comes to AMD. BTW I also need 32GB of ram so there's that. CPU and GPU performance don't matter.
#It's about drivers!
G15 owner heere (AMD ROG advantage edition by the fucking ASUS).
With "Pro" drivers (6800M is supported) I am at:
#2) About 10w give or take power drain on battery. (7-9 hours of battery life)
With nonpro AMD drivers, 6800 "proudly" ats 7w just for lulz. AMD'sdriver panel also proudly shows that.
And the wild thing is: most people would probably have nonpro drivers and think "well, it's a gaming notebook doh".
In reality, it is amazingly efficient. Despite "HX" CPU of 5000 series.
PS
All that, with 2 SSDs (2tb + 500Gb) and 64GB RAM.
10w webbrowsing or higher load?
Web browsing.
A bit more when watching videos.
That is with Windows 10 and without undervolting, which I was told can do quite a bit.
Battery life depends on use case. For best hypothetical battery life you would need a laptop with maxed 99Wh battery and "low" resolution non-OLED display :) Then you can put ultra low power SoC with trash performance ;)
My use case is using a code editor with a docker container running the backend. Its not a big deal, except I need 32 gigs of ram, it might run on a chromebook honestly.
I read about getting a configuration with a low power display, with elite x but its been discontinued, so my question is what amd processor to get for the best battery life possible, I will do very long flights and I'll be traveling the world as a digital nomad.
You could look at MSI Prestige 16 AI+ Evo B2VMG with Lunar Lake and 99Wh battery (not the Arrow Lake H variant). HP OmniBook Ultra 14 with Ryzen HX 370/375 and 68Wh battery or Acer Swift Oled 16 with Lunar Lake and 70Wh battery. Check their reviews :) From cheaper stuff - a good laptop with Ryzen 8845HS/260 and big battery ;)
There's no recently released ultra low power SoC from AMD with trash performance. There are athlon and old CPUs rebranded like 7730u, but the powerful AI ryzens have close to or better battery life.
Does an OLED display consume more power than IPS?
In general yes. Add resolution, refresh rate and LCD type to the mix, then brightness and how it's controlled. Due to amount of variables you usually have to check panel by panel basis.
And if you have a higher TDP CPU or more so even dGPU then those components start to overshadow panel power draw.
For gaming benchmarks check notebookcheck - they have cpu and gpu comparison features.
Bigger chip inherently wont draw more power at idle. Also if you max 350 but you cap 370 to the same TDP then 370 should be more efficient as chip power curves have a sweet spot and after which adding more power gives diminishing returns on performance.
Modern iGPUs can handle lighter games but Cyberpunk as well.
I would look at HX 370 or 375 laptops first - and you have to check given laptop model reviews to get battery life numbers - there is a lot of variables and many are outside the chip itself.
Bro, you described the perfect use case of a lunar lake cpu... But... maybe check the ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED (RYZEN AI 365) The same system with a lunar lake cpu will give you a couple of extra hours of battery life, though...
Asus ZenBook S16 with Ryzen 9 AI HX 370, 32GB. The battery is quite big for an AMD laptop without dGPU.
I have used Thinkpad T14s Gen 4 and Gen 5, though the battery is small but if you are okay with 28W TDP thr battery life is decent though not exemplary.
hey all, i'm in the market for a laptop as im going off to college soon and I want to get a good computer that'll last me a long time (hopefully all four years). I want the ability to game occasionally while i'm away, however i'll mostly by doing schoolwork. I've landed on the g14 due to its compact size and great performance, however I am concerened about the battery life. i am going to be primarily using it for lighter tasks, like the microsoft office suite, watching videos, and web browsing. Will this laptop be able to get through an entire day of simple tasks like these on a single charge? I ask this as i've seen wildly different numbers for as to how long the battery actually lasts on one of these. thanks!
(I'm thinking of picking up a used 2022/23 model, or a 2024 if they go on sale again)
As an alternative to an Apple PC, the G14 is probably THE best choice in terms of performance meets portability. Add G-helper optimization and you can get the same or close to the same battery life as the Apple laptop.
I’m a student using a g14, my school has plenty of study space with outlets available so I don’t tent to concern myself with battery life, but you can get through the day with the g14 on eco mode no problem. Eco mode disables the dgpu for serious power savings. It also can charge via usb c, so if you get a good power bank you can top up easily. Love this laptop. The 5080 is a little overkill for the chassis but the extra vram goes a long way for ducking around with AI stuff locally.
thanks for this, I think this is the best option.
nice!
Idk if you should buy used if you want batterylife. Unless the battery is changed or you wanna change it yourself. Bht for the rest, yeah, good laptop
Hey! Im a student and I bought a G14 2024 on an Open box sale about a month ago.
Using G helper, I get about 7-8 hours of battery life doing school work/ video browsing even when I charge to only 80% battery. Just make sure to use the eco mode. You can get even more battery life if you are willing to under bolt the cpu as well.
Overall to answer your question I think its great in terms of being able to be super powerful when you want it to be but also sip power when you need to use it day to day!
