Makeup Trends for 2024

Minimal and No-Makeup Looks

The trend towards minimal makeup or no-makeup looks continues to gain traction. Many individuals are embracing their natural beauty, opting for a more understated approach to makeup. This trend is characterized by subtle enhancements that highlight one's natural features rather than covering them up. The focus is on achieving a fresh, dewy complexion with minimal products [4], [5:7]. This look is often accompanied by well-groomed brows and a hint of color on the cheeks or lips.

Goth and Alternative Styles

For those who prefer a bolder aesthetic, goth and alternative makeup styles remain popular. These styles often include dramatic eye makeup, such as dark eyeshadow or eyeliner, paired with bold lip colors. Piercings and unique accessories can also complement this look, although opinions on piercings vary, with some suggesting they detract from overall appearance [4:2], [4:6].

Two-Tone Eyebrows

An emerging trend noted in discussions is the use of two-tone eyebrows. This involves using different shades to create depth and dimension, adding an artistic flair to the traditional brow look. It's a creative way to express individuality and can be tailored to suit various styles, from subtle to bold [5:5].

Inner Confidence and Natural Beauty

A recurring theme in makeup trends is the emphasis on inner confidence and natural beauty. Many people are realizing that makeup should enhance rather than mask their features. This shift in perspective encourages individuals to embrace their unique characteristics and feel confident with or without makeup [5:7]. This trend aligns with the broader movement towards self-acceptance and authenticity in personal style.

Overall, 2024 makeup trends emphasize versatility, allowing individuals to choose between minimalistic and bold styles based on personal preference and occasion. Whether opting for a no-makeup look or a dramatic goth style, the key is to express oneself confidently and authentically.

First of all, I don't want to be misunderstood. This heat map is weekly that it visualized via closing prices from September 12 to September 19.

Generally, there is 3 main topic on this week that are FOMC meeting, TikTok's U.S. control, and Intel's stock purchasing. The week started quietly and then optimism increased step by step toward the end.

📊 Here are the S&P 500's week-by-week results for the last 4 week,

August 22 close at 6,466.91 - August 29 close at 6,460.27 🔴 (-0.10%)

August 29 close at 6,460.27 - September 5 close at 6,481.52 🟢 (+0.33%)

September 5 close at 6,481.52 - September 12 close at 6,584.29 🟢 (+1.59%)

September 12 close at 6,584.29 - September 19 close at 6,664.39 🟢 (+1.22%)

🔸 Monday: Volatility was low and volume is around the 20-day average during the first 3 of the week. Before the session, Trump said shift to six-month corporate reporting cycle. This would save money and improve management. The stock market opened slightly higher. In the session, Nasdaq extended gains and reach the 1%. The stock market closed higher. 🟢

🔸 Tuesday: Before the session, Scott Bessent said 25 bps cut is priced-in. The stock market opened slightly higher as Monday. In the session, Tesla tried to extend gain and reach to 3%. Stephen Miran sworn in as governor. The stock market closed slightly lower. 🔴

🔸 Wednesday: The Fed meeting arrived. Trade Advisor Navarro recommended the Fed should cut by 50 bps today and another 50 bps at next meeting. The stock market opened mixed, but there are nearly flat. Fed cut interest rates by 25 bps and its first time since December 2024. Gold fell around 1% after the decision. The stock market closed slightly lower. 🔴

🔸 Thursday: Nvidia agreed to buy $5B stake from Intel and then Intel jumped more than 25% in a single day. The stock market opened higher. Trump said stocks will do much better as time goes by. Russell 2000 index hit 2,450 level and its all-time high from November 2021 and November 2024. It's a good sign for the momentum separated to all stocks for a long time. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed at all-time high. 🟢

🔸 Friday: Trump asked Supreme Court to let him Fire Fed's Lisa Cook. The stock market opened mixed. Also, Friday was Triple Witching day which occurs quarterly on the third Friday of March, June, September, and December. Triple witching days can cause a spike in trading activity. As result, volume was highest level for last 5 months. Trump and China talked about TikTok. Trump made a call with President Xi of China and he said very productive and appreciate the TikTok approval. As result, Oracle gained more than 4%. The stock market closed higher and completed the week at all-time high. 🟢

The first rate cut is done. We could see two more cut in this year because labor market data revision damaged to Fed confidence. The next Fed meeting is in November. The probability of 25 point rate cut is 92% in CME FedWatch Tool. On the other hand, M2 Money Supply are supported to lower inflation. Russell 2000 reached to all-time high again after a long time. The stock market rally could continue in the nice period.

What do you think? What do you think? How was your week?

❓ Note: Many people have asked where screenshots come from in my previous posts. I'm using Stock+ on iPhone and iPad. You can find it on the App Store. If you're using Android, I'm now sure if it's available, but you can try searching "Stock Map" or "Heat Map".

I love the glossier pot concealer for spot concealing all over the face! Super natural and easy to blend out, and a good color range. I like the caliray color corrector for under the eyes, I find I only need a super light wash of it to brighten things up, and having that thin layer keeps it from creasing or looking cakey when I want a super natural look with no powder or baking.

Makeup looks for men and makeup looks for women trope.

Posted by LittleBoyBarret · in r/TheSecretHistory · 26 days ago

Sorry if this is a weird connection. But I wonder if anyone has come across the discourse surrounding a specific kind of makeup for women--tanned, smooth flawless skin, shadowy eyeliner, very 'glam' or whatnot. Well, a few men have been vocal about not liking such makeup appearances, and women's responses are universally 'well, it's not for you, it's for other women." And I only ask, all women? Or a specific kind of women appreciates this kind of makeup appearance.

At one point in the Secret History, Francis and Henry discuss the aesthetic value of Gucci Bags. Apparently disagreeing. Francis calls them ugly, and Henry looks past this and states something along the lines of anything can be grand if done on a large enough scale.

This is perhaps the key to the Secret History's meaning. Henry and Julian's fascination with the 'twelve great cultures' is perhaps not incited by a real desire to accustom themselves with by-gone cultures, but rather an attempt to re-establish some cultural logic which is so ingrained within them, but with which they are ashamed of. They cannot truly understand the Greeks (no one really can) without translating Greek Society as really a kind of neo-liberal heaven in which novelty is prized amongst all else, mass-production has sublimity, and beauty is terror.

What does this have to do with makeup? I am all for women finding aesthetic value in makeup, and genuinely do believe women's aesthetic choices are geared towards other women's tastes rather than men's tastes. But the kind of 'glam' makeup which has become the subject of certain internet discourses I find it impossible to find tasteful, unless what is actually happening is a subordination of aesthetic beauty to some kind of capitalist logic in which the face is completely cleansed of all imperfections and uniqueness.

What we, in our current society call 'beautiful' or 'aesthetic' might actually be the hiding of real, authentic beauty which resists the kind of understanding which so many seek. And so many attempts at emulating what is beautiful only further suppress beauty.

This is such an interesting observation! With regard to the 'twelve great cultures' bit -- I think that Julian ad Henry wholeheartedly believe that the ancient Greeks are a kind of 'counterculture' antidote to everything they think is wrong with society in their time period. This includes, like, mass production, luxury labels (your Gucci example), and that entire section about real learning being deep and exploratory.

In my head, the so-called 'modern glam' makeup looks are a direct product of increased exposure to social media -- the brands and techniques people use always end up blurring into each other (think he phenomenon of 'Instagram Face'). While this is in no means inherently bad or anything, it does represent a sort of 'dilution' of what used to be distinct trend cycles.

If the members of the Greek class were around today, I think this is something they would have opposed, because their principles were very much geared towards being 'cool and quirky'. Even Camilla is described by Richard as having traditionally 'boyish' features, which wouldn't have been a common look at the time.

I think that societal depictions of beauty are changing in ways that we couldn't have anticipated. An inherent part of aesthetics, to me, is choosing to highlight certain features of a location or a person -- which is evident in the 'glam' makeup styles you're talking about.

LittleBoyBarret · OP · 26 days ago

My intuition is that Julian and Henry are not the atavisms they purport to be but are in fact very modern kinds of humans. They are so modern, and so much a product of their age that they are actually at greater risk of simply being absorbed into the social fabric as useful tools (they are both extremely intelligent and therefore be utilized by some project beyond them).

So they disconnect themselves and turn towards antiquity, but their rendering of antiquity is subsuming the values of antiquity into an essentially modern, capitalist framework.

Donna Tartt begins the book with the Nietzsche quote "A young man cannot possibly know what Greeks and Romans are. 2. He does not know whether he is suited for finding out about them"

Which is very telling, and even more telling is Nietzsche's own philosophy. Although his philosophy involved studies of antiquity, it was oriented towards the future progress of man and the development of a new culture. Nietzsche even seems to imply that those who can bring about this new cultural epoch are, in fact, the most suited to understanding antiquity because they posses the 'historical sense'. And not, people who are caught up in dreams of a by-gone age (like Henry and Julian, who are decidedly not Nietzsche's ideal kind of person)

A similar thing happens with Glam makeup when it is designated as a woman for woman kind of aesthetic. It is roped off, mundanely distinguished to only a certain set of people who can 'appreciate' it, but its true distinction is only in the way it erases natural distinction.

When we try to disconnect beauty from humanity, when we try to make it overly particular and exalted, we are, in fact, exalting not the beautiful itself, but the ideal of the beautiful. We want the sign, not the signified. And I can't think of anything more modern than this tendency of our age.

Key Makeup Trends for 2024

  1. Natural Glow: The trend is shifting towards a more natural, dewy finish. Expect to see lightweight foundations, tinted moisturizers, and skin tints that enhance your natural complexion rather than mask it.

  2. Bold Colors: Vibrant eyeshadows and eyeliners in bold colors like electric blues, bright greens, and vivid pinks are making a comeback. Think playful and expressive looks that add a pop of color.

  3. Graphic Eyeliner: Creative eyeliner styles, including geometric shapes and double lines, are trending. This allows for artistic expression and can be adapted for both everyday and special occasions.

  4. Fluffy Brows: Full, fluffy brows continue to be in style. Products like brow gels and pomades that create a natural, brushed-up look are essential for achieving this trend.

  5. Sustainable Beauty: Eco-friendly and sustainable makeup products are gaining popularity. Brands focusing on clean ingredients and recyclable packaging are becoming more sought after.

  6. Monochromatic Looks: Using the same color family for eyes, cheeks, and lips creates a cohesive and effortless look. Shades of peach, rose, or berry are particularly popular.

Recommendation: To stay ahead of the trends, consider investing in versatile products that can be used across multiple areas of your makeup routine. For example, a cream blush can double as a lip tint, and a multi-use eyeshadow palette can help you experiment with bold colors and monochromatic looks.
