Marinette Dupain-Cheng (Ladybug)
Marinette is the main protagonist who transforms into Ladybug. Her character is often criticized for her inability to communicate effectively, which has become a repetitive trait over five seasons [1:1]. Despite these challenges, Marinette is depicted as a determined and caring individual who genuinely wants to help others
[2:3]. Her relationship dynamics with Adrien and Luka are central to her character development, with Luka being portrayed as a supportive partner
[1:6].
Adrien Agreste (Cat Noir)
Adrien is Marinette's love interest and fellow superhero, Cat Noir. He is described as a good person loved by fans [4:1]. However, there is criticism that his character is sometimes ignored by writers, preventing him from becoming more multi-dimensional
[3:2]. His optimism is highlighted in his reactions to setbacks, particularly in his romantic pursuits
[5:5].
Nino Lahiffe
Nino is known for his frequent use of the word "dude" and plays a supporting role in the series [1:2]. Unfortunately, his presence diminishes in later seasons, making him less prominent
[1:4].
Chloé Bourgeois
Chloé is often seen as an antagonist, causing distress among her peers [2:1],
[2:7]. She is disliked by many characters, including the show's creator, Thomas Astruc
[1:5].
Lila Rossi
Lila is another character who causes trouble, often manipulating situations to her advantage [2:2]. Her deceitful nature is a recurring theme, leading to frustration among other characters like Alya
[1:12].
Felix Fathom
Felix is considered one of the most multi-dimensional characters due to his complex motivations and relationships [3:1]. His intelligence and strategic thinking make him a standout character, especially in episodes where he uncovers significant secrets
[5:7].
Nathalie Sancoeur
Nathalie is appreciated for her morally grey characteristics, adding depth to her role as Gabriel Agreste's assistant [4:1].
Gabriel Agreste (Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth)
Gabriel, Adrien's father, is the primary antagonist whose plans often fail comically [5:2]. His inability to connect dots regarding the identities of the miraculous holders adds humor to the narrative
[5:11].
This guide provides a snapshot of key characters from Miraculous Ladybug, highlighting their traits, roles, and dynamics within the series.
Don't forget Nino: the one who says "dude" every 5 minutes
Nino not being included is tragically accurate for the later seasons unfortunately... the DUDE barely had any role in seasons 3 and 4
Exactly. There’s a show about that exact character you’re describing and it’s amazing. It’s called “Komi can’t communicate” its 10/10 but its successful because it’s balanced and the character is either consistent and the show has ways to get around it. But the reason this is so unsuccessful with Miraculous Ladybug is because marinette keeps deciding she gets the nerve to talk to adrien. And she even kisses him on the cheek. And the next season is back completely to not being able to talk to him. I’m realllly tired of this crap.
but no: let's make it a comic sketch whose purpose is to make it clear that spoling are as wrong as the bourgeoisie... on the other hand, the character who hates Astruc the most is Chloe
In another post I actually had a fight with another adrienette shipper over why I thought Luka was an absolute gentleman and was everything Marinette deserves in a partner because of his level of respect and dedication to her emotion/mental well being. And straight letting her have time to thjnk about her true feelings for adrien while they (luka and marinette) were dating
I know the way the show is going and Thomas Astruc said that adrien and marinette will eventually be together because the show is about them. But man… having Luka be the he absolute perfect male specimen during the episode[s] they dated really messed me up.
I wouldnt say marinette is “overhated” she just has had 5 seasons to Learn how to form a sentence and at this point it’s not a quirky character trait anymore; it’s just obnoxious and repetitive. The one time we got close to any actual confession was during the risk taking akumatization. Where she swallowed her bull crap and went for it.
She backtracks too much. We could have gotten an actual confession to stick almost 2 seasons ago if Marinette could have just owned up and said “yes I want to be a statue and molded together for eternity” after getting caught red handed for trying to kiss the adrien “statue”
Don’t take this the wrong way. Im an Adrienette Purist. And I can’t wait for the day we get to see them all romanced and lovey-dovey. But Marinette is bordering the unbearable. She’s only amazing when she’s got the balls to tell off or tell the whole hearted truth to chat noir as ladybug.
Her character flaw of being unable to talk to adrien without making really absurd rhymes is reaching intolerable levels and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.
Writer's are sacrificing marinette for the sake of comedy and I don't like it
I thought Alya would agree with Marinette about Lila. She knows that Marinette is Ladybug so it’s weird why she doesn’t believe her.
It's hilarious and frustrating how Alya always tells Marinette that she needs a solid proof for Lila, but Alya herself never checks anything that Lila says. She just takes her words as 100% truth... But I guess this is the power of Lila's plot armor
Probably because she thinks Marinette is just bias towards Lila and thinks she’s one of the girls who crushes on Adrien. She has no idea how dangerous Lila can be, hoping S5 can get her to wake up.
Like even before she knew marinette was ladybug, Alya has had plenty of chats with Ladybug she wouldve been able to double check with ladybug herself SO easily. But she was a chicken with its head cut off.
Because Alya believes Marinette is being simply jealous when that's not the case
tries to make the child laugh: Adrien, Jagged Stone
tries to play with child to calm them down: Marinette, Alya, Nino
gives detailed instructions to parents: Nathalie, Alix
cries with the child: Rose
ignores the child: Lila, Felix
is the reason why the child is crying: Chloe, Sabrina, XY
akumatizes child: Gabriel
Marinette is all of them at the same time
Lmao I was about to say the same thing😂😂😂
Tries to make the child laugh: Adrien, Nino, Rose, Ivan, Tom
Tries to play with the child to stop them crying: Marinette, Alya, Kim, Sabine, Alix
Gives detailed instructions to the parents: Lila, Mlle Bustier, Nathalie, Andre
Cries with the child: Mylene, Rose (after failing to make them laugh), Sabrina (more agitated than upset)
Ignores the child: Juleka and Nathaniel (both afraid of making things worse), M Damocles, Gabriel
Is the reason why the child is crying: Chloe, Felix, Audrey
Perfect list! I can imagine each of these scenarios. To add, perhaps Gabriel not only ignores the child, but gets giddy and runs to his lair since it’s a negative emotion lmao
Nah Gabriel would probably scold the child then disappear and three secs later akumitize it
I’d rather put Chloe at the ignores child section
And then the child gets akumatized
Chat is both trying to make the child laugh and the reason it is crying
Yes 😂
where’s the choice to akumatize the child?
Maybe Adrien, if the writers stop ignoring his character.
… miraculous ladybug herself?
She's a mary sue dude
She IS a Mary Sue as the writers have made her one with the narrative that she can do no wrong.
She really doesn’t qualify for a “Mary Sue”. Unless you don’t actually mean a Mary Sue.
Do you even know what a Mary Sue is or is that just a term you see a everyone else using??
And just like that you lost all credibility, congrats.
that means she always wins and has no failure.
nah.
Multi-dimensional is a character with multiple emotions, traits, and motivations.
As well as personal growth for the character.
They are not confined to a single role in the story and can have many roles.
As of now, what characters do you think best fit the description?
Clusmy-girl
r/technicallythetruth
Felix and Sabrina
Since Sabrina is free from Chloe's thumb, she's had time to become her own person, and Daddycop proves it.
I thought Felix was a spoiled jerk, but he genuinely cares about his mother and just wants him, Adrien, and Kagami to be free from their parents' influence.

"Gabriel blaming Ladybug every time his plans fail"
Yes,Gabe, because akumatizing a guy who is obsessed with pigeons, a literal baby, a ice cream monster who turns everything on the person he hits(including their miraculous) into ice cream, and a giant cloud girl who can't touch or hear anything are such brilliant plans.
Trust me guys, akumatizing Mr. Pigeon will work next time.
I would literally love it if the final akuma to take the miraculous was Mr Pigeon after all. It would have been perfect XDDD
I've said this before, but if Hawkmoth finds out Marinette is Ladybug and Adrien is Cat Noir, he is going to face-palm so hard with how many times Marinette has been inside this man's house. And Adrien is his literal son. And once Adrien and Marinette find out each other's identities, they are going to look back and cringe.
Well, the joke's on Gabe for never realising the significance of so many Miraculous holders being from the same classroom. He knows the identities of many of them at this point.
The only reason he doesn't put it together is because he has no idea that they are in the same class. If he spent more time with his son though... he might have the idea.
I'm pretty sure they're all going to learn each other's identities by the end of the season.
Agree with all except for Cat Noir's reaction after getting rejected. Man's so unbelievably optimistic that his actual reaction is closer to: "Don't worry, we'll do this again tomorrow." (Of course, none of this really applies to the post-Strikeback situation).
I still find that scene of Félix finding out Gabe is Shadowmoth one of the coolest in the show. In fact, that was the moment I fell in love with the character (platonically, of course) in earnest.
I was already impressed by what he was capable of in his debute episode, but his performance in Gabriel Agreste episode really sealed the deal (and then it somehow kept getting better!)
Felix is a giga chad
I must say that this one is pretty accurate
When did Kagami know about Ladybug's identity
She overheard her and Alya talking about losing the Miraculous in Perfection and made an educated guess based on that.
In season 5, episode Perfection.
Alix is very reasonable since she owns the rabbit Miraculous
Luke Yeah He did seen Marentte and Adrien secrets
Felix and Kagami knows Somehow.
Alya is a no brainer
Natalie knows due to Marentte Telling her about it.
Kagami overheard Marinette and Alya talking about losing the Miraculous in Perfection and made an educated guess based on that. And told later to Felix
SO MANY people know Ladybug's/Marinette's identity but hardly anyone knows who Cat noir is
Who knows who's Cat Noir again besides Luka and Alix?
Felix, and those three are the only people who know.
"There's something about me that no one knows yet."
Suuure, Marinette...
Well, the S6 Intro reframes that secret to be about Gabriel being Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch
Yeah so it's only Lila, Natalie, Tsurugi-san, Kagami and Félix that know it
Quite the secret
I'm sure its a huge plot point but I don't remember Natalie finding out in the main timeline?
Hey everyone, I'm back with another season 4 character analysis and this time it's "Dearest Family". You may be wondering where my analysis for "Qilin" is so the answer is that it got removed for some reason and I have no idea why because I made it just like my other posts so far so until I get the answer and understand what's going on we're going to be moving on with episode 21. If you're new to this series then here I look at our favourite MLB characters in depth in every individual episode of season 4 in order to give an overall picture of the characters' journey throughout the season.
Yeah, so "Dearest Family", good episode. We see for the first time that our perfect little kwami, Tikki is not as perfect as she seems due to her obsession over sweets, Marinette trying to figure out what it all means, and her family members arguing over what's best for her. So this analysis is probably going to have the most characters POVs we've had since "Crocoduel". So let's get started.
"I was afraid you would thing less of me. Because of my cravings"
For the very first time, we see Tikki have some weaknesses and some characterization. Ever since the beginning, Tikki has always just been Marinette's guide and bright-side-up to help her through difficult times but never had any character of her own. But here, we see that she has cravings for new and unique sweets that happens every few hundred years and according to Plagg, the last time it happened was when chocolate was invented and she made it rain chocolate for eight weeks.
The reason for Tikki's abnormal food cravings compared to other kwamis is due to her being the kwami of creation which makes a lot of sense. Tikki's sweet cravings seem to be so dangerous that all the other kwamis in the Miracle Box are afraid of her and that says a lot. These cravings went to the extent that she even used her power without having a holder which caused a giant galette bigger than the Earth to be made and affected the Earth's gravity but thankfully it was destroyed by Cat Noir as Astro Cat.
When Tikki saw that her cravings were taking her away from Marinette, she stopped as her worst fear, as she stated to Marinette, being afraid that her cravings would make her think less of her, came to reality which really shows how much she cares about her relationship with Marinette and shows the strength of her bond with her. When Marinette tell her that she can help her overcome her weaknesses, this is what gives her strength to try to overcome her cravings.
"Of course not! I'll always like you, Tikki. Everyone has weaknesses, you know. Let me help you overcome yours. Just like you helped me overcome mine."
This episode is seems that the roles of Marinette and Tikki have been reversed. Tikki has always been the one to help Marinette with her problems and share wisdom on what she should do and encourage her to be better. But now Marinette is making it up to Tikki by helping her overcome her weaknesses.
When Marinette first discovered that Tikki's craving, she was in denial that Tikki had some sort of problem as she believes that she knows Tikki best even when the other kwamis warned her about Tikki's cravings. She tried to control the situation by stopping her from eating their family's galette and transforming into Ladybug to prevent her from eating more which backfired as she got the craving as well when she was transformed.
When Marinette saw that Tikki was going as far as using her power without a holder to appease her cravings, she realized her mistake and admitted that Sass was right about Tikki and she didn't know her as well as she thought and when Tikki revealed to her that the reason why she never told her about her cravings was because she believed that she would think less of her, Marinette assured her that they would work to overcome her weaknesses together just like Tikki has always helped Marinette with her weaknesses.
"The person who knows best what Marinette needs is Marinette herself!"
Moving onto the family argument on what is best for Marinette, we'll start with Sabine. From her perspective, Marinette is the only person who knows what's best for her and she's old enough to do so and she is the one I most agree with.
We've seen how Marinette is good with planning and is always helping other people and coming up with great ideas, both as a civilian and as Ladybug. It's best to treat her as someone with her own individuality and her own mind and let her to make her own choices. And by the end of the episode too this is what we see them go with: letting Marinette decide what she thinks about getting a motorbike as a gift from her grandmother and decide whether she is old enough for a gift like that.
"I know my little girl better than anyone else and I think that bike is way too dangerous for her"
Next we have Tom, who believes that Marinette needs some like him to protect her and he believes that the motorbike that Gina got for Marinette is too dangerous for her which makes sense for his character considering the events of "Weredad", where he gets akumatized because he wants to protect her little girl, Marinette from heartbreak.
Tom cares about his daughter a lot and would go to great lengths to protect her, he even stated in "Stoneheart (Origins Part 2)" that he would protect her if Ladybug and Cat Noir failed to do so which at the time seemed like it was just a lighthearted joke but we know from "Weredad" now that it's true. By the end of this episode though, he realizes that he should let Marinette decide if the gift is best for her and their conflict is resolved.
"Happy Birthday, Marinetta!"
Next we have Gina, who was the one got Marinette the motorbike for her birthday which she didn't realize was just months ago due to her not spending much time with them as she travels the world on her motorbike.
The last time when she arrived to visit Marinette, she believed that Marinette was younger than she actually is due to the same problem that cause her to not realize that Marinette's birthday was months ago in this episode and it was in that episode that she realized that Marinette was no longer a little girl who ate candies and liked doing things like going to the petting zoo and going on the merry-go-round and was now a young woman who liked hanging out with her friends. So it makes sense for her now to get her a big girl gift like a motorbike and believing that Marinette is old enough for something like that. By the end of the episode though, she lets Marinette decide what she thinks and when Marinette decided that she was still to young for the bike, Gina was OK with it.
"How can anyone have their head so far up in the clouds? A birthday is a birthday and a Galette's Day is a Galette's Day!"
Lastly, we have Rolland who still seems to be a little old-fashioned from "Simpleman". When Gina brings the motorbike as a gift for Marinette he believes that Marinette is not old enough to have one yet similar to Tom and believes that Marinette still requires discipline to be able to ride the bike.
This makes sense for Rolland's character as it's traditional for someone only to be able to have a motorbike when they are around 21 and before that they can't drive at all. Unlike, Tom he believes that Marinette needs someone to teach her about order and discipline before she can ride a motorbike and not someone to protect her. By the end of the episode, he realizes that he should take Marinette's choice into account and when Marinette decides that she's not old enough for the bike but instead should have a mini-scooter, he is OK with it
Well, that's the end of this analysis. Hope you enjoyed reading. This took a while to do with all the characters but I'm finally done. As always, let me know your thoughts on this analysis and let me know if I missed anything for any of the characters this episode. Until next time!
I love your analyses! Thank you for sharing.
>For the very first time, we see Tikki have some weaknesses and some characterization. Ever since the beginning, Tikki has always just been Marinette's guide and bright-side-up to help her through difficult times but never had any character of her own.
I disagree with this take -- you're right that Tikki's always been the bright side, super supportive friend, but she gives terrible advice. And she's awful at telling Marinette straight when even Tikki knows Marinette is making bad decisions, couching almost everything in 'but don't you think...' terms.
If you compare her to Plagg -- Tikki is much more openly affectionate and supportive, yes, but Plagg gives actually decent advice and is straightforward with Adrien out when Adrien's getting too far off track. Plagg is also much more open with Adrien when it comes to Miraculous history and lore, whereas Tikki is never really shown talking about it.
I find Tikki and Plagg a really interesting couple of characters because off the top of your head anybody would say 'Tikki's the super supportive, helpful, open one, and Plagg is the unhelpful, secretive one' but in reality the opposite is more true.
Both Tikki and Plagg are perfect for their respective holders. Tikki is best for Marinette because Marinette is not confident in herself and Tikki always cheers Marinette up like in "The Pharaoh" where she showed Marinette of the past Ladybugs and made her believe she is good Ladybug as well. And she also warns Marinette not do things, Marinette just doesn't listen like in "Antibug" where she told Marinette to come up with something while she is done eating and not to make the same mistake twice or in "Cat Blanc" where she warned Marinette not to use her powers selfishly which if she had listened never would have ended up with PTSD. Tikki approaches Marinette with patience and empathy whenever she spirals out of control. She understands that she needs encouragement and kindness to help challenge her negative beliefs.
Plagg on the other hand would not how to soothe her. He might try to use snarkiness and sarcasm but that would only cause her to spiral further out of control. But for Adrien meanwhile he's perfect because he's snark and sarcasm is the only thing that is able to help Adrien realize that he doesn't have to be someone else to please others and that he should just be himself. He listens and gives advice when needed but at the same time he let's Adrien just have fun and take it easy.
Tikki may be patient but probably a bit too patient and forget that Adrien needs to have fun. Both kwamis are the perfect kinds of therapists for their holders.
So basically, Sabine won the argument. It was a good episode, despite Shadow Moth getting the upper hand by creating by Megakumas, just when Ladybug was getting stress-relief. Though, this episode was missing something, or should I say someone. Wang Cheng, AKA Kung Food. He should’ve been in the episode, then it would truly be Marinette’s Dearest Family
You may wanna proofread the post if you have the time. Also, I think rule 9 was the reason your previous post got deleted. You’ll be able to come back to it, right?
I've fixed the error it should be up again in a while.
I know the whole Quantum Masking thing is supposed to keep their identity secret, but let's face it. Minus when a certain sausage haired psycho talks, a lot of the cast is smart enough to figure out who Ladybug and Cat Noir are. I've included my top picks for who probably know, but you got any to add to the list?
There is no way in hell Chloe knows and shuts up about it. She would reveal that in national TV. Don't get me wrong, she should have figure it out after seeing Pollen for the first time. She held Tikki in her hands! Either she is plain stupid for not putting two and two together or she honestly can't fathom or accept the fact that Marinette could be LB.
Sabine would take that secret to her grave for sure, if she knew. Same with the bodyguard. I don't know about Max though. He would probably keep it to himself (after sharing with Markov) but I don't how he could figure it out. Maybe a computer programme he created? He would have to be looking for it though. I don't think he can just accidentally find out.
Max would more than likely learn about it from Markov, since Uncanny Valley was able to bypass their masking in the New York special. Max would just have to implement that kind of biometric technology into Markov, which, considering they never caught Hawkmoth in the same way, it's unlikely either of them are capable of knowing at this point.
Sabrine knows. Every day she is nonstop hearing Marinette screaming "Tiiki spots on!".
Sabine hearing Marinette transform for the hundredth time: Be back before dinner young lady!
I definitely don't see how Chloe could know and not say a word, especially if she knows about Marinette's being Ladybug.
I also agree about Sabine - even if she doesn't know, she may very well suspect.
As for the other two, I also agree - not sure if they know or not.
she should have figured it out when she saw pollen cause she saw tikki with marinette earlier and that's clearly ladybugs kwami, and also she clearly knows that ladybug is protecting the city and belives in her ability to do so
i bet a buncha people know because of some of the places Marinette and Adrian have been transforming 😭
https://www.tumblr.com/c-note01/698404812111396864/its-adrian?source=share Look! It's Adrian!
Random person looks out the window Uh... IS THAT LADYBUG?!
I remember one episode (one of the earlier queen bee ones) where Marinette was on a train and transformed when her parents went to stop the train.. like girl y’all ain’t the only people on the train..
I remember one episode (one of the earlier queen bee ones) where Marinette was on a train and transformed when her parents went to stop the train.. like girl y’all ain’t the only people on the train..
Funny enough, there is a fanfic where Mr. Banana discover Hawkmoth detransforming and run away. Then the fic turn into Gabriel hunting down possible suspects.
Nice chose 7
> 7- adrien
yeah i picked 7 too for july for my b day.... so happy with my choice!
I picked 7 too!
I picked 1! Yay!
Shit i picked 2... -_-
I picked 7, do you want to exchange ?
Why would you wanna do that?
1- marinette 2- lila 3- nino 4- chloe 5- Alya 6- luka 7- adrien 8- kagami 9- mayura 10- Gabriel
I PICKED 1 YAY!!!!

What do I do with this extra thing?
Why does Alya know Marinette is lady bug??? Why does her outfit change when she uses lucky charm??? And where the hell did this chongzone or whatever thing come from!? Who is Shadow moth??? Im watching this on Disney and went by the watch order they have and I’m lost utterly lost. AND IF ALYA KNOWS WHY CANT CHAT NOIR KNOW LIKE WHATTT?????
The outfit and charms aren't really eplained at all in the episode they make their debut, they just happens.
What episode did you watch first ? All of these things are explained in the first 4 episodes of the season.
So i watched the first episodes shown
Sole crusher
Queen banana
And
Sentibubbler
Nun of these episodes were numbered on xfinity but were the first that came up so i watched them
Here's a list of the episodes released so far in order :
1 Truth
2 Lies
3 Gang of Secrets
4 Mr Pigeon 72
5 Psychomedian ( unreleased )
6 Furious Fu
7 Sole Crusher
8 Queen Banana
9 Gabriel Agreste ( unreleased )
10 Mega Leech
11 Guiltrip
12 Crocoduel
13 Optigami
14 Sentibubbler
15-16 Unknown
17 Rocketear
18 Wishmaker
19-20 Unknown
21 Dearest Family ( unreleased )
22-24 Unknown ( episode 24 is rumored to be called Penalty )
25-26 The Last Attack of Shadow Moth ( unreleased )
You should especially watch the first 4 episodes in order to understand all the things you were asking about in your post.
those episodes are the end of season 4A. xfinity must not have all the episodes
I think you are watching the wrong order, try starting with these.
Truth
Lies
Gang of Secrets
Mr Pigeon 72
I‘m really sorry for you. Watch in the below/above mentioned order und you‘ll be good.
i watched it on disney and alya is told in episode 3 in the disney watch order. I forget what episode she learns how to make the charms to ward off akumatixations but that's when the outfit changed. Alya is Marinettes best friend and she was stressed and overwhelmed so i think it's perfectly reasonable that Alya was the first one she told. Moreover, from her perspective, in the timeline where Chat knew her identity, it was a shit show.
