Episode Rankings and Popularity
The discussions around episode rankings highlight how subjective opinions can be when it comes to evaluating episodes. For instance, in one thread, the episode "Casa Bonita" was praised for its depiction of Cartman's character and his deserved comeuppance [1:7], while others found it overrated
[1:11]. Similarly, "Awesome-O" is appreciated for its humor, especially seeing Cartman suffer
[1:5], but some felt it was a repetitive narrative
[1:3].
Critique and Analysis
In-depth critiques often focus on specific elements such as writing, animation, and character development. One reviewer, Nemesis, provided a balanced critique of an episode, acknowledging its strengths while pointing out flaws in the writing [3:1]
[3:4]. This approach seems to resonate with viewers who appreciate thoughtful analysis over superficial criticism
[3:3].
Character Dynamics and Plot Development
The dynamics between Ladybug and Cat Noir are frequently discussed, with many fans feeling that Ladybug is portrayed as more powerful and central to the plot than Cat Noir [5:3]. Some suggest that this imbalance could be addressed by giving Cat Noir additional powers or responsibilities
[5:7]. The show's creators have been criticized for focusing too much on Ladybug's character development at the expense of Cat Noir's
[5:1].
Production Order and Airing Issues
Fans have expressed frustration over the airing order of episodes, which often does not follow the intended production sequence. This has led to confusion about plot continuity and character development [4:4]. Some speculate that delays in episode completion or strategic breaks for advertising purposes might contribute to this issue
[4:5]
[4:8].
Recommendations for Improvement
Suggestions for improving the series include balancing the powers between Ladybug and Cat Noir, ensuring episodes are aired in the correct order, and developing both characters equally [5:3]
[5:8]. Additionally, fans have proposed expanding the roles of other heroes to counterbalance Ladybug's dominance
[5:6].
I like Overlogging slightly more than Awesom-O, but I respect this
Exactly my same conclusion. I think Casa Bonita takes it by a wide margin. Awesome-O is pretty awesome, too, but it's basically a rehashing of the same story a season later (Cartman does something awful to gullible Butters and eventually is brought to justice). Overlogging is fine.
Yea but seeing Cartman suffer is what makes Awesome O so fuuny. But yes, Casa Bonita is the better episode
The black and white homage to the Grapes of Wrath will never not be funny.
why awesome-o is the best of the three: cartman goes down on justin timberlake, a massacre in the name of friendship and consciousness of the machine, jokes on adam sandler and the best of all cartman eating the toothpaste
The fact that Butters is putting Cartman through hell for 90% of the episode and is completely unaware of it is the most Butters things and that's why it's genius. Cartman eating toothpaste will never stop being funny.
Bingo. Other than the Randy stuff in the trailer, I was underwhelmed by Overlogging. I felt it had so much possibility but other than a fun moment here or there it didn’t deliver.
I'm with you. I use the "there's no Internet to find out why there's no Internet" line all the time when our useless Xfinity goes out. Don't understand the love for Casa Bonita. I think it's a boring episode.
Casa Bonita is the perfect Cartman episode. He's a brat in a way that's realistic for a child and he gets exactly what he deserves at the end.
same, casa bonita is massively overrated, I still like it just fine, just crazy overrated
Umm, he's given casa bonita the gold. It's first on his list.
This is mine to
Yes , I think boys crazy is the only bad episode in the whole show
Boys crazy is the only bad episode imo. Mabel isn't just selfish, she keeps 4 people hostage , uses them to get rid of candy and grenda , and when they ask for a break , she tells at them to play with her.
There's a second plot that's even worse! Robbie convinces Wendy to forgive him with a cd , and dipper goes on a quest to ruin their relationship. Instead of the disk being genuine and dipper learns to let them be happy , somehow the cd is hypnotic. Does Robbie get consequences? No. Does Wendy care about it? No. She says boys are selfish and leaves. And instead of feeling regret , Stan and dipper basically go: women , am I right? Any way , let's go bowling. It sucks.
Say what you want about roadside attraction, it was a decent episode that was hurt by bad placement. Boys crazy is genuinely bad.
i think the point of the episode is mabel learning that her actions were selfish and coming to the decision to release them. i do think its a bit boring compared to other episodes but it is by no means the worst.
The problem is. , Mabel isn't mildly selfish , she's so horrid she's compared to several times abusive owner. I think 'Mabel being selfish' plots were done way better in sock opera and damvtf
I have rewatched the entire series with Roadside attraction where it should’ve been placed (right after Into the Bunker) and it still sucks. The only joke I found funny was Soos in the corn maze. The Candy/Dipper thing is cringey along with a lot of the episode, and the villain is just weird..
As for Boyz Crazy, Mabel is pretty bad, but that doesn’t make the episode bad. Think about in Sock Opera where Mabel is mere moments away from giving the Journal to Bill for the sole purpose of maintaining her show (which would’ve left Dipper a ghost forever), and the only reason she thinks twice about her actions is because Bill accidentally reminds her how selfish she’s being. Like she was in the process of giving him the book. That action is objectively worse than what she did in Boyz Crazy. Also, Boyz Crazy has some hilarious moments. McGucket fangirling, the cloning pods, “Darn beautiful men, always digging through my trash”, “The goat took it!” “Yeah, that’s what they all say”. It’s an absolutely ridiculous episode, but it’s also pretty funny.
Also, I agree with the B plot being problematic and it would’ve been better if the CD didn’t actually seem problematic and Dipper was being paranoid. But Wendy was also justified in chastising Dipper for asking her to go bowling immediately after. Also, Dipper very clearly feels bad afterward. Stan says something along the lines of “Women” but it’s also said in a sarcastic way like “Wow.. I can’t believe she didn’t thank you for destroying her relationship!”
Look, on its own Roadside Attraction is not the worst episode. But when looked at from the perspective of it's placement in the season it feels comically bad
The fact that the previous episode ends with them making the shack safe from bill, and then the next starts with them deciding to spend as much time outside of it as possible. I thought Ford was meant to be smart
It feels like it should've been a season 1 episode. Kids just showed up, Stan taking them around to see what they can see around Oregon. The romance part would've been rushed, but the concept feels like something that should've occurred early on.
If it came out anywhere between into the bunker and northwest mansion mystery it would've worked
Is that the one with the giant spider lady? I'm not familiar with English episode names
I feel like we could put Roadside Attraction as the most forgettable episode as well.
The funny thing about Roadside Attraction is it’s probably the first episode of the show I saw (that or Northwest Mansion Mystery).
Even if I still love the episode and think that it deserves a bit more love by the community, I still am glad that Nemesis gave his full opinion on it. It’s nice to see a fan of both characters in an episode give his personal opinion on it, and while I personally disagree with his points on the episode, I can at least see why he thinks the way he does.
Also, to anyone who said that he disliked the episode, I just want to tell you guys that no he didn’t. He straight up said in the review that it was an objectively good episode, just not one for him.
He perfectly summed up my problems with Chief's analysis and added more to it.
And it made me realise, Chief really didn't do anything actually cool in Hell aside from the BFG clash
Still like the episode, in fact he made me like the pre-Hell fight more because I now see Chief using his skill and luck.
He did a back flip at one point
There's nothing cooler than a back flip
The backflip and Halo 2 cover reference to Chief’s aura in that second half
Yeah, Chief lost most of his aura in hell. Outside of force feeding a demon a grenade, and the Spartan Laser, he just got tossed around
I don’t know, that pose he did when he sent out Cortana really tickled my fancy.
Honestly this type of stuff is the reason I like watchings Nem's videos. He said his criticisms as a fan from both series and a person who has done animation himself.
And it actually feels informative and not whiny and annoying.
despite some people saying he has bad takes,he honestly gives better criticism than 90% of people I see give criticism on any episode
True. His criticisms even on things I disagree with him on are well thought out and explained well.
I can listen to him and go "yeah I can see why you didn't like that, that's fair". I feel the majority of his haters don't even watch him lol
>I can listen to him and go "yeah I can see why you didn't like that, that's fair". I feel the majority of his haters don't even watch him lol
I think this is a fine assessment. The critique is often way better than the average rando who usually cries about research / result that's subjective.
Haters is a strong term, I find myself eye rolling when they're brought up more often than not. Use of language is a big one. You can't call something an 8/10 episode and then have 2/3rd of the video be negative. This one isn't really his fault is, but fans tend to echo his points as if they're personal opinions when it's really obviously just parroting from a review. (See Thanos vs Darkseid and the wave of negativity it got afterwards.)
Then there's weird stuff like Wukong vs Hercules not being touched because there are people who still worship Zeus??? and the general religious connection which is just uh... certainly a take. Journey to the West is a 16th century novel which is about as connected to Buddism as Doom is connected to Christianity. It's not a bad take, just a weird one.
I don't think he's a bad presence to have, moreso people should have their own opinions more. Analysing anything critically will always help personal work since you become more aware of the flaws.
What about his take on frieza vs Megatron
It took powerscalers 15 years but they finally discovered that less people will hate you if you aren’t mean for no reason
Yeah, as someone who liked the episode, the flaws he brought up were definitely ones I felt; I was just able to look past them
Gee, I sure hope that no one uses this to be annoying and harass people who like the episode and or voted for it
I do like this review though. Especially how he clarifies that his problems mainly come from the writing rather than the animation (DevilGOAT always wins in the end) which I think is fair.

Edit 3: Changed links to miraculousladybug.to’s links as they have higher definition episodes.
I was rewatching Bakerix when I noticed that the banners outside of the train reveal said StarTrain on it... Cool little detail that I hadn't noticed on my last watch.
Not sure if it will have any significance in the Startrain episode but....
Startrain is the train, they actively say so in both Bakerix and Backwarder
I realise, hadn't noticed that that was the name of the train and am wondering if "Startrain" in the episode of the same name will be someone who worked on the train or had the idea for the train.
This was probably discussed before, but does anyone know why all the eps were played out of order? Was it the stations just deciding to do whatever they want with them?
no the stations would get criticized for that.
i think certain episodes needed more work on them so they weren't ready to be released
idk tho
Through experience, if anything it's probably the same that Hollywood does, they'll take a extra week break that way they don't fall behind in episode creation, or so they can take a short break without worry of falling behind.
Most episodes are created well before they are released. There's only a few people that don't follow that norm, South Park being one that comes to mind. They finish creating that episode One to two weeks before it's released.
The two week breaks are actually due to advertisements. They save up for their best shows for certain target audiences, put them on a two week break so they then air usually the last couple of episodes - the best part of the series - during the sweep of ads. It's why you usually see a climatic moment in the series, then they put it on two week break and air it again during the period of advertising where it's at its high, and more people will tune in and pay attention because they have been waiting so long to find out what happens
You can read about it here: https://movies.stackexchange.com/questions/85661/why-do-tv-shows-take-mid-season-breaks
Tbh the tactic really no longer works because people get fed up with waiting and ads these days.
It's probably because they'll also air the already aired episod,e not sure
This should get pinned and then just get updated whenever there's a new ep because I swear half the comments are just when's a new ep out or what's been aired so far
+1 on pinning this...at least until the season is over
Yeah, please pin this.
idk ask TeleQuebec
The show constantly preaches (or preached… in the earlier seasons) that “Ladybug and Cat Noir are equals,” that they “complete” each other, creation and destruction, yin and yang but when you actually look at the way the show plays, Ladybug doesn’t need Cat Noir.
She can: • De-evilize Akumas. • Fix everything with Miraculous Ladybug. • Summon Lucky Charm, which always gives her the solution. • Lead every mission. • Coordinate every other hero.
creation and destruction aren’t opposites, they’re partners in the process of renewal. You can’t create something new without first removing or destroying what’s corrupted. And that’s literally what happens in every Akuma, something pure becomes corrupted, and it needs both destruction and creation to be restored.
But in the show’s logic, Ladybug somehow does both jobs. She “purifies” the Akuma (which is destruction, removing evil) and then uses Miraculous Ladybug to restore everything (which is creation). So she basically absorbed both cosmic roles into one, which makes Cat Noir… narratively pointless.
Heres how I would’ve done it: • The Ladybug Miraculous (Creation): restores what was lost, rebuilds what was broken, brings harmony. • The Cat Miraculous (Destruction): eliminates corruption, neutralizes evil energy, purges imbalance.
So when an Akuma infects an object or person, Cat Noir would have to use Cataclysm to destroy the evil essence, not physically, but spiritually, and then Ladybug could use her powers to recreate what was lost.
It would make them interdependent, like the world literally cannot stay balanced unless they both exist and work together.
I just don’t understand how much the show has sidelined Cat Noir. Weren’t you guys the ones who said that they need each other? That they’re yin and yang? But guess what, Ladybug literally defeated the big bad all by herself. She saves everyone and she can purify the akuma. Her yo yo is also really strong and can basically destroy anything. So, what’s the point of Cat Noir? What difference would it make if he’s not there? Sometimes SHE even has to save him.
They say they’re equals, that they need each other, but they proved to us countless times that they’re not.
De-evilize akumas: Technically the cat miraculous can use cataclysm to destroy akumas as well, but it kills the butterfly as well
Miraculous ladybug:recently we discovered there is a Miraculous Chat Noir
Summon lucky charm:that’s her main power, like the cat miraculous is cataclysm
Lead every mission:that’s marinette not the ladybug miraculous l
Coordinate every other hero:that’s marinette not the ladybug miraculous
You literally proved my point in your first sentence. ‘Cataclysm can destroy akumas too, but it kills the butterfly as well.’ Exactly. That’s not equality, that’s the difference between creation and consequence. One can fix everything, the other can destroy everything, even life. That’s not balance, that’s hierarchy.
And about ‘Miraculous Cat Noir’ it doesn’t even compare. It erases memories, while Miraculous Ladybug literally reconstructs reality. You can’t call that equal power.
And yes, saying ‘that’s Marinette, not the Ladybug Miraculous’ is still proving my point, the show lets her do everything while sidelining Cat Noir. That’s exactly the imbalance I’m talking about.
You’re arguing in favor of my point while thinking you’re debunking it. Be serious.
Yeah, Chat Noir is depicted as the "sidekick" and basically an assistant to Ladybug. The creators and writers keep expanding her plot line, personality and much more as if she is their "favourite child" or should I say "favourite character". If we look closely, they should definitely be of equal importance to the plot and the series and what you said would be a nice fix to this problem in the series! This would ensure they both have more or less equal amounts of power and therefore the same amount of importance. They're the main protagonists after all. I really do wonder why they decided to focus on Ladybug and Marinette so much instead of Chat Noir and Adrien. They really did start to ignore him after S2 and after S3, the entire focus was directed to Ladybug and her new job as guardian. I've said it so many times and I'll say it again: Kitty-cat deserved better!
The sad truth is that they will never be a heroic duo like Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable.
They really would’ve been better as a Batman Robin show
In interviews, they (Astruc etc) keep referring to the show as "Ladybug" and it's so infuriating
I always thought this was the most natural way to use both the Miraculous - Chat Noir destroys the evil created, Ladybug re-creates whatever was destroyed.
Another related theory I've had is that the Miraculous Chat Noir used to destroy memories had actually been used by all the previous holders throughout history after each fight against villains, which is why no one would remember superheroes saving the day during historic events - the public's memory was wiped each time to probably protect them from any traumatic memories as well as safeguard the heroes' identities.
Essentially in an ideal world, this is how I'd have both Miraculous function:
- Ladybug: Lucky Charm + Miraculous Ladybug to repair damages
- Chat Noir: Cataclysm + Miraculous Chat Noir to wipe everyone's memories of supervillains and the damage caused
But of course in the show which is set during the modern era, the media and ability to film everything renders CN's memory wipe useless, and not to mention would make half the plot disappear, but it's still a cool power that I think will be very important in the course of this season, hence why it was introduced at all.
It'd be cool if it just like destroyed the emotions that affect you pertaining to the akumatization like if you were brutally murdered you would feel no emotional connection to the memory of course you know what it felt like but you still don't feel that feeling anymore thus removing any sort of trauma relating to it unless the lack of emotional connection to your own memories freaks you out a little
It would honestly be nice to see the Cat Miraculous actually having the power to purifiy akuma/amok its just Cat Noir never thought it was possible for him. It feels pretty stupid that ONLY the Butterfly miraculous can do it, especially now that we've seen that Chrysalis can create antikuma to strip miraculous users of their powers.
I mean the monkey can also purify the butterfly by disrupting the magic
Which we've never seen. And honestly yeah I feel its only fair that the monkey and also the ox should both be able to deal with akuma/amok because both of their powers are meant to counter other powers.
I would have chat have three different powers, say catalyst, cataclysm, and miraculous chat noir. Ladybug would have three as well the healing light, lucky charm, and miraculous ladybug.
Breakdown: lucky charm and cataclysm work the same (lucky charm creates an object that when used correctly allows everything to go right for the user (aka lucky), cataclysm will make anything the cat touches with his activated hand god catastrophically wrong in the manner the cat wishes (the atoms that make up the object are supremely unlucky to decay/break apart/etc in the space of a few seconds, like a rock cracking, steel rusting to the point of failing, a wood floor rotting).
Catalyst is a controlled, targeted destruction of the magic that would otherwise prevent the akumatized object from being destroyed in order to free the akuma. Same thing for amok objects. The process is to open the inner surface on the baton and touch the surface to the object(s) in question, then the green white light infects and destroys the magical barrier the akuma and amok create. The object is the catalyzed, the butterfly/feather is released, and is able to be cleansed now that it is exposed to outside magic again. The butterfly/feather will have hairline cracks that glow bright green to indicate the magical construct is fully catalyzed.
The healing light (better name needed), is when the catalyzed constructs (butterfly and or feather) is captured by ladybug's yoyo.
Miraculous ladybug recreates the physical world the way it was before the attack (and undo the damage that triggered the akumatization if needed, like the watch in time breaker), miraculous chat noir destroys the trauma (and memories if needed) of the experiences of the world caught in the attack (can include things like human memory, digital/physical records, written records etc). Both will achieve the basics of their function, but anything more require the hero's to concentrate on anything extra. Like if their identities were exposed early on in the fight and news got posted online, hawkmoth wrote it down in three different places and saved digitally as well, the miraculous chat noir would erase the memories of their identities in anyone that saw IRL, online, or were told by others, and any record would be erased as if it never was made in the first place, as long as chat directed the power to destroy the secret that the akuma revealed, and not just the usual trauma caused.
Think Inuyasha needing to use the red tessaiga to break the youkai's reiki proof barrier before kagome uses her reiki powers to purify the evil miasma inside.
Also the baton would be split lengthwise like a hot dog bun, and can still elongate enough to reach multiple objects if needed.
Growing up watching this show I have mixed feelings about it nowadays. On one hand, its cute to look back on and see whether the blue girl and the cat boy would kiss while on the other is:
This show is a f-ing nightmare to get through
1.) Looks
-This shows animation style changes from episode to episode and it looks weird. Also, alot the villains just wear black when akumatized.
2.) Chloe
-This character is annoying as hell. But still, she gains the bee miraculous and becomes a superhero: Queen Bee. Despite how annoying and rude she can be, Chloe has great potential. Her character is somewhat similar to Flash Thompson from Spider-man where she hates the hero’s alter ego in real life but she’s a fan of the superhero. Watching her struggle with trying to get along with being a hero Ladybug can rely on was kinda fun. While yes, she’s a bully there’s room for character growth which WE WONT EVER GET-
The creator of Miraculous Ladybug has gone on Twitter to say that she’s just evil no matter what and she can’t ever get redeemed.
Makes no sense considering
a.) She’s a teenager and as such Chloe still has room to grow and learn from her mistakes, as well as make amends.
b.) If that was the plan all along, why does Chloe get setup with an abusive mom and weak father who make her life hell? Why make us sympathize with Chloe and bring so much tragedy to her personal life if she’s just evil? Yes, I can see her upbringing as a factor to how she behaves now, but she’s changing (at least until she just went full megalomaniac at the end)
3.) Romance
-This show’s romance between the Love Square is AWFUL.
a.) Adrienette is a one-sided crush that barely ever develops. Marinette is always flustered and can’t be allowed to be herself around Adrien because she’s too scared of how he might negatively perceive her. She also can’t stand on equal ground with Adrien to be in a relationship with him- let alone be closer friends with him because she’s too insecure of herself dealing with her feelings for him.
b.) Ladynoir won’t ever happen in any meaningful way because of her preconceived notions about Cat Noir being a creep, there’s little room for growth. As people, Cat Noir doesn't stand on equal ground with her because she doesn't like him that much. Also, they barely spend any time together personally because they’re too busy fighting crime.
c.) Ladrien is also a one-sided crush that barely ever develops because once again, Marinette can’t be allowed to be herself because she’s Ladybug. But then again, her true personality leaks out every once in awhile. Plus, Adrien isn’t given a chance to stand on equal ground with her because he looks up to her and is in love with her but at the same time she has to protect him, treating him like any other civilian she has to save (although yeah she likes him too but he doesn’t know that)
d.) Marichat is basically also Ladrien except nobody is romantically interested in one another which leads to some weird situations. But goddamn the fanfics were good, even the ones where they have sex in the balcony- yes that happens
But once again it isn’t really gonna go anywhere because neither of them will pursue each other because Marinette likes Adrien and Adrien likes Ladybug. The ship still sucks because it goes through the same flaws as all the other ones, such as Marinette not taking him seriously at times because of her perception of him as Ladybug except she has to pretend to be a stranger towards Cat Noir, which doesn't work because Cat Noir is still a creep anyway. There's also the part where neither of them are actually willing to commit to a relationship with each other because neither of them are willing to let go of the person they like (who just happen to be each other)
Also, stop trying to force Luka on us. We all know the blue girl and the cat boy are gonna get together in the end. Luka isn't even that interesting of a character.
4.) The fights suck.
-The fights are less about fighting, and more about how the situation will play out exactly the way it needs to in order for Ladybug to use the Lucky Charm. Cat Noir barely uses his head in a fight, and usually needs to get saved.
5.) Wasted potential going nowhere
-Literally the Chat Blanc episode.
6.) Evilize
-No, the word doesn’t sound threatening, its just cringy.
I can go on and on about the other faults of the show like the animation inconsistency and how bad Luka and Lila are. No, really. I can.
Extra: Also, Plagg and Tikki are the MVPs for dealing with their humans. Those two need increased wages for their sacrifice.
Okay, I don't know shit about Miraculous Ladybug, but that thing about Chloe struck a chord and I had to look up the quote.
So like, I think there is an important message in telling kids that sometimes you just need to let someone go. Everyone can become a better person, no one is beyond redemption, yadda yadda, but that doesn't mean it is necessarily a healthy decision to stick around someone hoping they will change, or try to change them. "I can fix him!" to abusive boyfriends and what not.
But that quote is.... I'm hoping it's from the language barrier because yeah that came off as misanthropic as fuck.
Alright, I absolutely agree that having representation in leaving behind someone who is just toxic in your life instead of 'fixing' them is great and all but this isn't the case with this character bc:
She gets the bee miraculous and works with Ladybug, but then the writers just throw her redemption arc in the trash and makes her do unredeemable things (literally sacrificing other people to save herself). Why even waste time divulging her background, insecurities, and make her have a change of heart only to just erase it ?
1b) The show literally brings in another villain that has much more potential bc:
- unlike Chloe, who is universally known as a bully by the class, Lila is manipulative and only a handful of people (currently our 2 MCs) knows that she's not a good person. If anything, the entire class + the teacher is on her side, which created a lot of juicy conflict for F-MC.
- she teams up with the show's main antagonist and then she's just. gone? hello? where'd ya go
and then she just fucks right off. she's gone for most of the season but she's teased to be part of the finale without any buildup.
edit: forgot to mention this:
Lila's gone for most of the season, only for the writers to bring in Chloe to do stupid antagonistic shit. WHY. They just have a huge hate boner for her, and as the post says, even wrote a flippin tweet that she's just evil ???? OK. Great writing.

I don't even like Chloe as a character. Miraculous Ladybug just gets on my nerves due to poor writing and character building.
I disagree she had a redemption arc in the first place and I never found her too sympathetic, but what is her use now?
What people think was Chloe's redemption arc was people just expecting her to change (she still contributed to half of the akumatizations while being QB) Her being a teenager means nothing to me and she KNOWS better. Even when her mom spent more time with, Chloe still behaved terribly even after she got what she wanted.
I am not going to deny her potential though. I expected her to atleast get character development at the start of s4, regretting her betrayal and idol's loss of trust or atleast be a chaotic neutral.
I don't even need to watch Strike Back to know Lila did nothing, but be annoying in the finale.
I think this is a fine message, except it’s not done in a good or nuanced way. One episode she’s really kind to her friend and the next she’s back to her manipulative self. It’s just really confusing. The character has zero consistency.
> -Literally the Chat Blanc episode. Its all time travel folks
It says a lot that most of the best episodes in the show are the what-ifs and alternate timelines
It is under the wasted potential but definitely one of the weakest episodes imo. Gabriel was too stereotypically evil & flat (moreso than usual) just so there could be a really forced ‘tragic’ situation between Ladybug and Chat Noir (really felt I was reading a bad fanfiction with how melodramatic it was), there is too many questions and plotholes around what BunniX was even doing at the time , and all the stakes are pretty moot since they pretty much forget what happens anyways (which is fine for most monster of the week episodes but disappointed for a potential serious plot episode) . The only main appeal of Chat Blanc was seeing the concept thats been speculated in the fandom since the 2D trailers finally canon but the execution is pretty lacklaster.
>The only main appeal of Chat Blanc was seeing the concept thats been speculated in the fandom since the 2D trailers finally canon
That being?
Agreed. The romance is this show is just terrible. Marinette’s stalker tendencies are creepy and not endearing (sniffing his pillow was crossing the line). Characters constantly saying how good Marinette and Adrien would be together is BAD and LAZY writing. Chloe is wasted potential and is much more boring as a static petty bully.
Honestly I'd say Marinette/Ladybug is creepier than Adrien/Chat Noir seeing as she knows Adrien's schedule back to front and also broke into his house if I'm remembering correctly.
Chat Noir isn't a creep though. You need to explain that better, because their dynamic is flirtatious and playful in general, she even flirts back, and she does not in any way feel in danger with him. Everything is with mutual consent. Chat Noir respects her when she rejects any advances (which happened, twice, in terms of aiming for a kiss). Furthermore, we saw what she would do when dealing with an ACTUAL creep who pursued her despite her refusal (Felix).
Chat Noir also doesn't know her entire 3 year schedule in advance and smells her pillow like a certain character.
All in all, all I read for the most part was fanon bs on that front and a very skewed perception of certain aspects.
>Chat Noir also doesn't know her entire 3 year schedule in advance and smells her pillow like a certain character.
There's a character who does that to her??
No, she does that to Adrien.
She (as Marinette) has a creepy stalker crush on Adrien kinda sorta. Standard romcom stuff really.
I still love Chat Blanc more but this is easily in my top third favorite episode
It would've been a great episode if they just removed the Lila subplot.
RIGHT?! Especially she lie at the end was so ridiculous, but everyone believed her
I think that Ladybug was the episode that marked a massive tonal change in the show; the first time an obviously sapient and self-aware being was permakilled for no other reason that her continued existence was inconvenient.
FWIW, I still haven't forgiven Nathalie for this.
Neither did I. Murderer...
For a massive tonal change, there was "Chat Blanc" 2 episodes earlier. Nobody truly died in this one but it left a massive psychological scar. I never witnessed such a huge and brutal tonal change in a story.
I can understand why it left a scar. Chat Blanc destroyed the world and would have destroyed the universe without the past ladybug coming to save everything. But Nathalie was also not good in that episode considering she immediately tells Gabriel "your son is your enemy"
I just love any episode with Mayura!
I MISS HER
Why they didn't use her in EVERY episode of S3 is beyond me
naaah it makes sense even if I love seeing Mayura shine if she had used it in all the episodes she would have died before the end of season 3 💀
Laughs in miraculer
Flashback to when Chloe was actually likeable
I love this season finale, it was the first time Ladybug heavily deals with her own choices and I liked because she was being very controlling about everything. I was expecting something, but not that big you know it was an amazing surprise.
My only complain is about HawkMoth, I mean he did get the miraculous box by s3 finale, then he just get it again in Strikeback.
There is a reason why this episode is the highest rated episode in imdb
Even higher than chat blanc and oblivio
I genuinely don't think we will see an episode who will reach strike backs level of impact and peak writing in a long time
My biggest complaint is how season 5 damages Strike Back indirectly. The message of Strike Back is that Chat Noir is important. Ladybug needs Chat Noir in order to defeat Hawk Moth.
But this isn't the case of the season 5 finale. Ladybug defeated Monarch on her own. And he surprised her with Venom, sure. But it was Marinette's fault for being gullible there.
I still hate that decision the writers made. Adrien being there to confront his father makes perfect sense.
YEAH, I think that no matter the plot they may create nothing would beat an epic battle btw Ladybug and Chat Noir vs HawkMoth. That’s what I wanted since I started watching the series.
And yeah Adrien treatment in the finale is pretty sad, especially because the beginning of the season their partnership was awesome with she trusting him the Rabbit Miraculous.
This episode was an amazing season finale!
Action, drama, some romantic.
It was a kickass season finale.
If you do not take into account that both seasons, the 4th and 5th, due to the shown in the very first episode of the 5th season are not needed/unnecessary at all - undoubtedly. 8)
I mean like... wow. It’s painful
Miraculous Ladybug is the only show I've seen that had aired their finale before airing the rest of their episodes
It's going to be so weird to watch the second part of the finale and then have to go back like nothing happened for Felix and Chat Blanc...
I swear! I always thought that for some reason everyone uploaded the episodes to YouTube out of order
The same happened with MLP. The finale was leaked a long while ago.
I come from the GOT fandom. There were a lot of people debating whether or not to watch the final season after plot spoilers were leaked.
GOT is a special case though, the problem with ML is mainly poor coordination of an airing schedule between countries. ML is still enjoyable, especially if you manage to avoid spoilers and watch them in the "intended order" (basically, season premiere first and season finale last - otherwise, apart from special plot arcs, they're mostly self-contained).
The problem with GOT was that the writing got so incomprehensibly bad that it just ruins the show entirely for me, I can't re-watch it knowing how terribly it ends. If D&D had bothered to take the time to properly flesh out the final character arcs, it could have been great. Instead they wanted to gtfo asap, but refused to let anyone else take over to give it the ending it deserved, because they're greedy a-holes who wanted all the glory even though they didn't want to put in the work anymore.
Sorry for the rant, the point I was getting at is that I don't think GOT is a fair comparison. ML still has passionate writers who want to create a great story. The airing schedule is effed, but I'd rather that over the dumpster fire that was GOT's ending.
Yeah, GOT was a total dumpster fire, and I remember reading the spoilers and just laughing it off thinking it couldn't possibly be that bad. Oh boy, I'm still wearing the clown wig from that one.
It is totally different, but the point was, this is hardly the first time I've seen a fandom torn on whether or not to actually watch their show on release. Hannibal was the last one of my fandoms I can recall prior to GOT, an episode wasn't aired in the US because it was deemed controversial in the wake of another school shooting, but still released internationally. And the fandom was torn on whether to support the showrunner's call (because it was Bryan that made the call, not NBC) or whether to watch it anyway and not miss out on the plot and character development.
This is a pretty common phenomenon in fandom. For a lot of reasons: skipping boring filler, skipping triggers... and yes, even waiting until the whole season is aired so you can watch it in order.
I think it's been weird getting everything in a mixed up order period. Like I kept wondering where CN got the Bananoir costume. Now we know!
This is the first show I have watched where the episode releases are sporadic. By that I mean, maaaaaybe we'll get an episode one month, three the next month, and none the next month. It's very stressful. As with other shows, it's either a definite bi-weekly or once a week if there's not a holiday that falls on that day of its cycle. Also, this is the only show I've watched where the episodes are also out of order.
I mean, I liked the idea behind the Miraculer episode. The only thing I didn't like in hindsight was the exposition that Ladybug had been ghosting Chloe for weeks, because it really doesn't make her look good when those... future events... come up. It could've been easily fixed by saying they spoke to her right after the events of Hero's Day and would still occasionally ask for her help as a civilian, only for Chloe to not listen.
Besides that though, I liked the episode. Puppeteer 2 also wasn't as awful as some people make it out to be- like yes, I cringed at the statue scene too, but I honestly cringed far more every time Hawkmoth said "evilize" in the English dub.
But yeah, S3 is probably the weakest overall for me. I can't think of a single episode here that I can say is one of my favorites, and it laid the groundwork for what would become the worst aspects of the show imo
S3 has literally one of the best episodes of the entire show, it can't be the weakest
The only S3 episodes I can still remember are Miraculer, Animaestro, Ikari Gozen, Backwarder, Chat Blanc, Miracle Queen/Loveater, Timetagger, Desperada, Party Crasher, Gamer 2.0, Stormy Weather 2, Puppeteer 2, Ladybug, and Startrain.
Out of all those episodes, the only ones I like are Miraculer and Gamer 2.0. But the former gets a lot worse retroactively, and Gamer 2.0, while fun, isn't really what I'd consider a favorite imo.
Backwarder, Timetagger, Party Crasher, Puppeteer 2, Loveater, Ladybug, and Startrain were blah. Not bad, but not all that good either.
Animaestro, Ikari Gozen, Chat Blanc, Miracle Queen, and Desperada were awful imo
And Stormy Weather 2 is just a waste of an episode slot
Firstly, I 100% agree about what you said regarding Miraculeur, secondly "evilise" is the main reason watching the show in English is never a top priority for me
Agreed: The writers wrote the weakest possible reason on the part of Ladybug for motivating Chloe to betray her. It made their virtuous protagonist into a petty, spiteful little girl and I'm sure that wasn't the intention.
I just love that they named a champion Miraculer.
It has some amazing episodes like Cat Blanc/Startrain/Party Crasher/Felix/Silencer/Oblivio/Time Tagger/Feast/Desperada…
That being said it also has the worst finale imo out of every other season as well
Ans Kwami Buster
The Nathalie and Gabriel arc
I dare to say that was the best part of season 3, in my opinion
Cat Blanc and Time Tagger EZ
Mayura. Oh, and I guess the episodes are fine too.
On a serious note though: Sentimonsters and not a bad exploration of them, Backwarder is good for setting up tension for the season, Feast is good for lore building, I like Gamer 2.0 because it's just a fun episode of fun, even if the beginning is eh, Desperada is one of my favorite villains in terms of everything, Silencer explores Luka, Miraculer is great, but it's not good at setting up for the finale.. Ladybug REALLY WELL shows us how fucked up the Peacock Miraculous can be, creating entire living beings with conscience and desire that can just cease existence in a simple snap.
A lot of good things, but there's also things like Stormy Weather 2, AKA recap, the episode, and Puppeteer 2, which isn't awful, but both the premise and the statue scene kill everything good in the episdoe for me. Other smaller things, like the whole Miraculous are destructible/indestructible debate and so on.
