What bars are open until 4 am? All the bars in my neighborhood that used to stay open until 2 now start shutting down at 11.

This was so weird to me - I'm from a medium big city in Europe and even here clubs are open until at least 6am. Partying in NYC was..surprising, seeing as we got thrown out at 4am sharp lol. Didn't expect that at all in a city such as NYC!! Was it like that before the pandemic as well?!

Once the subway was back to 24/7, that was what enabled restaurants and bars to go back to staying open late.

The one thing I have noticed not come back is CVS's / Duane Reade's being 24/7. Not only did a lot of them close permanently, but they now close at around 10 pm. Bodegas being open more than make up for it, but that feels like one of the last pieces missing from before COVID.

Can be. Bars are now able to decide what to do moving forward. They can extend hours to whatever their legal last call was pre-pandemic. And they can choose to check guests’ vaccine status and lift all other mandates if they keep unvaccinated guests outside or social distanced in their own area.

I’m pretty sure it’s up to them but I have no clue. My regular bar in the UES has been closing around 11 or midnight if it’s not busy. They told me it’s just not worth it to stay open for only a few people. Then last week I was at a crowded bar downtown and they still did last call at 12:30.

I left Sophie’s at 4am last night, and the spot I work at is 2am for now but moving to 4am once it start to show signs of more movement.

Not as many things are open 24/7 as you might think, in NYC. It genuinely surprised me when I moved here.

Different bars have different terms to their licenses. Legal closing time is 4 AM, though not all bars stay open that late.

Under NY state law, establishments must stop serving alcohol by 4 a.m., however the actual closing time is left up to each of New York's 62 counties. The 4 a.m. time applies in New York City; clubs and bars may remain open without serving alcohol; they may start serving at 7 a.m. except on Sunday when sales begin at noon.

I’m pretty sure they have to stop serving alcohol at 4 AM, so that’s generally when they close.

They sure as heck are in Las Vegas! And not just tourist places, either. A surprising number of local bars go 24/7. Live there long enough and you might literally start to forget what that thing called 'last call' is.

Not as fun as it sounds, though. Every once in a while I'd lose track of time and I'd walk outside of the dark barroom just as the sun was coming up. Right in my alcohol bloated face. It made me feel like fucking Dracula, every time. Like, "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, I have to walk home in this!!!!!"

Each bar has a licence that details when they are allowed to sell alcohol. Usually that ends at 2am or 4am.

Not trying to be pedantic, but none (legally at least) - last call is usually 3:30-45 at places that are open til 4 as at 4am they can no longer legally serve.

If you’re wondering which ones are OPEN til 4, a lot of the older spots near Sheridan Square fit the bill. Kettle of Fish, Stonewall, Blind Tiger, Barrow St Ale House, Marie’s Crisis, etc. Cellar Dog (previously Fat Cat) and Arthur’s Tavern both stay open til 4 on the weekends. Also - Coppelia is once again open 24/7, and they have a full liquor license as well.

I remember sometimes in the UES in the early 2000s, when the bars closed we would just go to one of the neighborhood diners and keep the party going. I remember one or two which had actual bars in the diner which would serve. I'm not sure if this was legal, or just not enforced.

Many on the LES. Generally Friday and Saturday is 2-4, and then weekdays as early as midnight.

You can filter google map results by “open now” so the next time you’re up past 2am this might be a good way to find places

crazy how different it is across the river. BK has bars and food open until 2-4AM on a regular basis. And I grew up in the city lol

Mother’s Ruin and Swift both have food till at least 3am everyday.

Commodore’s kitchen stays open till around 1 I think at both locations.

More a diner than a bar but Coppelia is 24 hours, serving booze till 4, and has much better food than Remedy.

I really miss the old pre-Covid era NYC where the night life was 24/7/365 never close open 7 days a week. Those were amazing times.

After covid people started going out earlier, most places are dead by midnight, depending where u are in the city.

idk if it will, I wfh and every weekend I am looking for things to do and places to see and bars to go to until past 1am. The last nice place was schmuck, but no food past midnight, and closed before 2am, then you walk around east village and there’s nothing to do and you are welcomed by a bunch of weirdos. Bleh. 

NYC, still not back

Plenty of Irish pubs in midtown open 24/7. Check out the ones from 5th to 6th between 43rd and 46th. Search on Yelp with the map in that specific area

I believe spring lounge opens at 8 am still. Milanos and international bar may still as well. I'm not sure 100% on post-pandemic hours. GL, op.
