Parking Costs and Options
Parking at Six Flags can be quite expensive, with rates varying by location. For instance, regular parking at Hurricane Harbor in New Jersey is $45, while preferred parking costs $60 [4:2]. In Texas, general parking costs around $40
[1:5]. Some users suggest purchasing a season pass, such as the platinum pass, which includes parking and can save money over multiple visits
[1:5].
Alternative Parking Solutions
Finding alternative parking options near Six Flags can be challenging. Suggestions like parking at nearby locations such as Costco are generally not recommended due to the distance involved [3:1]
[3:2]. Globe Life Field parking was considered but found to be similarly priced when factoring in Uber/Lyft rides
[1:3]. Ultimately, many users recommend using the official Six Flags parking for convenience and safety
[3:4].
Reservations and Access
For those with memberships or pre-purchased tickets, parking reservations may be necessary. These can typically be made through the Six Flags website's pass holder portal [2:1]. When picking up tickets on the day of your visit, proof of purchase (such as an email confirmation with a barcode) is required for parking access
[5:2]
[5:3]. Tickets can also be added to the Six Flags app for easy scanning at the entrance
[5:1].
General Parking Experience
Despite concerns about congestion, several users report that parking at Six Flags is manageable, especially if you arrive early [1:4]
[3:5]. The distance from the parking lot to the park entrance is relatively short compared to the walking you'll do inside the park
[1:2]. On less busy days, such as weekdays, parking tends to be more straightforward
[3:3].
Paying $40 to park in a congested parking lot sounds like a nightmare. Does anyone know of free/low cost parking close by I can get an uber from to six flags? Thanks!
The parking isn't far. Even if you have to park at the far end of the lot, it's maybe 0.25 miles from the gate. It's a fraction of the distance you'll walk inside the park. No big deal.
I was more referring to some of the older posts I was reading about how busy/traffic there is if you want to arrive near opening. I already will have a blown fuse after driving through DFW from ETx.
It is not that busy around opening. Most traffic on 360/30 is around 8-9 am and 5-6 pm. The only thing that sucks is they don’t open the road to get to the park until like 15-30 mins before and it blocks traffic on this one road, but it’s still probably only 10 mins to get in if you show up early.
I've never waited more than 5 minutes, even at opening.
I tried to figure this out recently but couldn't find a good alternative. Globe Life Field parking costs $15-25 depending on the lot, so adding up the cost of two Uber/Lyft trips puts you right back at $40 or so.
Yeah I ended up buying the platinum season pass thats on sale for $80 that has parking included and then buying my wifes ticket with the discount from the season pass. That way saved $10 and, in the future, we'll just have to pay her ticket.
For those in the future that might have googled this thread: Prices are currently $35/general admission, gen parking is $40, a platinum pass currently is on sale for the same price as gold at $80. Its unlimited access for 2023, free parking, and has 2 discounted friend tickets @ $20.
I got the platinum pass in the end too. Pays for itself in two visits more or less
The parking price is my bother.
How much is parking @ San Antonio Sixflags ??
Hi. I have a diamond membership and last year I had to reserve parking in order to park in the lot at both SFOT and Hurricane Harbor. I made reservations to enter the park for HH for Wednesday, but I am unable to find where to make the parking reservation. I have looked on the desktop website, mobile version, and app. Did I miss it? Thanks!
You log onto the “pass holder portal” from the six flags website and it’s on the menu there.
You are awesome. Thank you!
After your visit to SFOT, would you mind coming back and sharing your experience? I keep moving my reservations because I’m just not sure if I should risk it.
Hello! I know there have been many questions about six flags on this subreddit and you guys are probably sick of them, but I would appreciate it if somebody can answer these:
Are the fairgrounds across the street a good place to park? Is it safe parking and is it usually crowded there? I’m looking to avoid using the Sox Flags parking if possible.
People have said the Costco parking is good but Google maps says it’s an hour walk from the Costco to the six flags front gate?
I plan on going this week on a weekday (Thursday) and will be out of state for the foreseeable future, so a season pass isn’t as appealing. Thanks!
I would definitely not park anywhere but the Six Flags parking lot... And you definitely do not want to park all the way over at Costco.
Got it, thanks! My concerns for parking in the Six Flags parking lot were that people told me they are really disorganized and even on days where they’re not busy it takes forever to park, but I guess more people are telling me that’s not true, especially on a random Thursday?
Someone is trolling you. I’ve never had a problem parking at Six Flags and suggesting that you park at Costco is ridiculous.
I just went this past Friday and it was not as full as I expected and there was lots of open parking that weren't too far away from where the shuttle picks people up. Even when it is pretty busy and full there is usually still parking available.
Why not use Six Flags parking? Probably the safest spot to leave your car in that area
Yo just pay to park there you’ll be walking so much you’ll wish you parked closer
Does anyone know the parking rates for Six Flags hurricane harbor in NJ? Usually I have a season pass so I never bothered to remember tye rates, but im going without one and idk how much the parking is
$45 for regular parking, $60 for preferred parking. (Preferred is not really needed in my opinion; Hurricane Harbor NJ's lot isn't a massive walk.)
Prices do not include NJ sales tax anymore.
thank you so much! I feel like preferred is only really useful when you have a family or you know you'll be there open to close.. I used preferred once during fright fest but it's so much easier just getting a normal parking spot
I was just there the other day and I think it’s around $40 or $45
thank you! I feel like they shoukd put the parking rates somewhere online
You can purchase parking online or at the park. It's the same price either way.
Can someone please let me know how parking works at six flags? Parking is included with my ticket, however, I won't have my ticket in advance - I am picking it up the day I am going to the park (it's a work trip). In order to get into the parking lot do I need to have my ticket, or is it pay as you leave?
You will need proof of ticket purchase. That could come as an email confirmation and have a bar code for the front booth attendant to scan. Without any bar code scanning image, you will be force to pay the parking fee which is going to be outrageous.
You need the ticket to park, they scan it as you enter the parking lot
I just went on Sunday and forgot my card at home. I was able to just show the scan code on the app to the ticket attendant and got in without issue.
How are you going to verify to the entry staff that you are the person who paid for the ticket? Is there a voucher or a barcode or something? If so, you just show it to the parking staff.
If you bought your ticket online you will be able to add it to your six flags app, and they will scan that at the entrance to the parking lot. You can just copy the pass number and add it
I've been trying to research online and through this subreddit, but wasn't able to find an answer. I was thinking of getting the diamond membership for the preferred parking, but I know that all parks vary when it comes to the parking lot layout. Is general parking a mile away from the theme park and would preferred parking be a huge plus particularly for Six Flags Over Texas?
It’s not terribly far, usually only a few minutes walk. Preferred parking is right by the front gate, and right in front of the parking payment booths so it could save you a little bit of time
This is what I was looking for! I know some Six Flags require a mile walk in some hilly terrain. Does it also look like preferred parking can exit the park faster too?
Thank you!
The parking lot is pretty flat for the most part, so I wouldn’t worry about that, but there is basically no shade along the path.
As far as exiting, it might actually take a bit longer to leave from the preferred parking. Preferred is right by the entrance to the parking lot, exits are around the middle and end of the lot
Good shared thoughts below… Some more thoughts on parking at SFOT…
This was a great and detailed video. Thank for you even giving me a timestamp on this! I was sure to click the like button for you. Please continue making more!
standard parking is a 5 minute walk on a flat parking lot. I would say save your money.
Thanks Virtual! Do you know if there is a separate membership line or diamond/diamond elite line at the front entrance? If it's a membership line only, gold plus should be enough yah?
There is, its gold or higher, but most of the time if you have a normal season pass they will allow you through that line.
Hello all! I just spent the last hour trying to figure out how to reserve a parking spot. The reservation page only has a link to "Plan Your Visit" under Preferred Parking which leads me to the generic park information page. On the "How to Make Preferred Parking Reservations" video, it shows a page where there are benefits tabs on the left of the screen but I can't even get to that page. Am I missing something here? I'm so frustrated with this website...
No more reservations. It's first come, first served.
Thank you for your response! I was going crazy looking for the reservation page!
I did the same thing in April. They made this decision and didn't publish it anywhere.
Yeah no reservations. Just go to the right parking lot, show your pass and they'll let you in.
Thanks!
The last time I went (May 20, 2024), the parking lot was under construction, but the solar panels were already installed.
An old post https://www.reddit.com/r/SixFlagsMagicMountain/comments/1d1wou7/new_ev_parking_spaces_at_sfmm/ by u/sdmichael lists this permit: https://epicla.lacounty.gov/energov_prod/SelfService/#/permit/144a3c67-dd85-41b6-ba2d-31373a646f8b
From that site, it seems the spaces are STILL not ready, and a year has now passed. I am wondering if the permit just has not been updated on the website.
Can anyone confirm? Are there now about 35 electric vehicle parking stalls? Or not?
It looks like the installation is stalled.
Volta is listed as the original contracted CPO, but since have gone out of business. So that likely stuck a wrench in the process.
The initial permit plans were also rejected during review, so the park has to revise and resubmit.
Looks like the hold up is finding a new CPO for the dispensers and other charging site equipment.
I knew reddit would have the answer. Thank for the update!
Back in 2017/18 we use to have to charge using L1 on the side of this building. Dunno if it's still possible but street view has a guy doing it. Solid backup option to plug in for several hours while at the park
Last time I went there were I believe 4 parking spaces that had chargers not 34.
Sadly, one is often broken... they replaced one after I filed a report and then another one got busted... I wish people using these were more considerate...
Shhhhhh, it seems most are unaware. If you do find them, when you're done, do plug in the fella next to you huh??
I have an EV and was there earlier…have not noticed any charging stations anywhere as of yet…
There are 4 stations by the grassy area in the middle of the parking lot, of which 3 are usually functional. You have to show up EARLY (like before the park opens) to get one of these spots... or very lucky if you find a spot open when one of the early birds leaves.
Gotta love the only 3 charging stations being used by hybrids.
Never seen them crazy!
Does Great Adventure and New England not have preferred parking reservations?? Magic mountain and Discovery Kingdom makes diamond members reserve prior. For Great adventure and many others it's grayed out on the app and says "first come first serve". Anyone have any tips? Heading to Great Adventure/New England for first time next week from California.
Diamond pass holder here, yea it's first come first serve. I imagine it has to do with SFGA being one of their flagship parks. Its just to popular to allow that I guess. You just have to get there early.
Thanks for the advice! Really hoping there aren't many ride closures next week! Going Thurs and Friday.
I was there on Sunday and every single coaster was open. Granted, some went down and came back up sporadically. But at some point during the day, every coaster in the park was operating for an extended amount of time. Ka is back to full operations for the most part (still goes up and down throughout the day but that’s just the nature of that ride), El Toro is running normally, etc.
PROTIP (you may already know this): in the six flags app, select great adventure then scroll down to where you can add flash pass. Click on the flash pass button and it will open a live-updating list of rides and their status/current wait times even if you don’t have a flash pass. Extremely helpful.
Thursday expect more ride closers than Friday. Thursdays hours I believe are from 11AM to 8PM and Fridays I think are 10:30AM to 10PM. Fridays are more like weekends compared to Mon-Thurs. If anything I recommend going to Hurricane Harbor and SFGA on Thursay. Hurricane Harbor in the earlier part of the day. Then GA later because more rides open later in the day but the on Friday just GA day and maybe Wild Safari.
Great Adventure initially said you had to when I purchased my pass last year but now you just scan your phone which says what level your pass is and they give you (or you ask for) the piece of paper that gets you into the preferred parking lot. We were just at SF Great America and it had to be reserved the day before so we didn’t have it one day and reserved for the next.
Yepp that makes sense now. Great America is Blue when I click on preferred parking link to reserve but many others are grayed out saying first come first serve like your experience at great adventure where you just show your pass. I guess I'll get to NJ and NE early then.
I don't know about Great Adventure, but New England it's first come first serve in the preferred lot.
No way to reserve ahead of time? Must be how they both do it then.
Keep in mind there are two preferred lots, one on the same side of the road as the park, the other is at the front of the general lot across the street. I came to SFNE today and the lot on the same side of the street was full before the park opened.
It's probably because the lot is really small, it fills up quick. But if you get there for park opening you should be fine.
Having been at Great Adventure last week, I can’t see them running out of space in the preferred parking area.
Great Adventure's preferred parking is pretty huge, I wouldn't stress it. And even if you don't get it somehow, their main lot isn't a terrible distance either.
Have currently been stuck in traffic trying to get into the parking lot for 20 minutes. Traffic is backed up all the way to the intersection where endless summer is. Only one parking garage is open. No idea what's going on but just a heads up if you are heading over today.
Update: this is entirely a parking issue. One lot open and one person in each kiosk working both sides.
Butthead of a comment coming but I took an uber because paying $30 a day for parking is a lot. At least I don’t waste gas & milage. $10
We're AP's so I get free parking.
Iucky 😭 can’t Afford it for two ppl right Now, I’ll get it eventually
Was about to make the same post. What in the world is happening today
It's entirely a parking issue. One person working both sides of the kiosk.
IKR?! Almost ready to just go over to Disney instead.
Don't add a terrible day to your terrible morning lol
Dizknee can suck it
The perks of using a lime bike and getting here early af
I’ll switch with you if you come work for me
Could be parking attendants are already being sent to Epic for training and working previews. Mobile ordering has been down for days at the Three Broomsticks and only one register open for the entire restaurant. TM there said it was due to short staffing. Seuss bakery is only receiving baked items every few days and now half the plates have fudge or marshmallows to hide what is missing. Trash cans are overflowing and I never see first aid walking around like I used to.
Seems TMs are being pulled over to Epic without being replaced at the main parks first.
Ohhh say it ant sooo
