Overview of The Final Shape
"The Final Shape" is the concluding expansion for the Light and Dark saga in Destiny 2. This expansion aims to wrap up the storyline involving major elements such as the Witness, the Traveler, and the overarching battle between light and darkness [4:1]. While it marks the end of this specific narrative arc, Bungie has hinted that future expansions may explore different storylines, potentially focusing on other factions like the Fallen, Vex, or Cabal
[4:2].
New Player Experience and Story Complexity
Many players find the storyline of Destiny 2 complex and difficult to follow, especially when jumping into the game at a later stage. New players are often overwhelmed by the lore and the numerous quests and objectives presented to them [1:2],
[2:1]. For those looking to understand the story better, community-created content, such as MyNameIsByf's YouTube videos, provide detailed explanations and chronological storytelling
[2:6].
Campaign and Gameplay
The campaign for "The Final Shape" is recommended as the first step for players who are up to date with previous content. Completing the campaign will unlock various missions and exotic items, enhancing the gameplay experience [3:1]. Players are encouraged to focus on the campaign before diving into seasonal events to avoid spoilers
[3:2].
Raid and Story Conclusion
There was initial concern among players that the conclusion of "The Final Shape" would be locked behind a raid, making it inaccessible to those who do not participate in raids. However, Bungie clarified that all players would be able to experience the climax of the story, including the defeat of the Witness, without needing to complete the raid [5:1]. The raid will offer an additional challenge and a deeper exploration of the storyline, but it is not required to see the main narrative conclusion
[5:7].
Future of Destiny 2
While "The Final Shape" concludes the current saga, Bungie plans to continue expanding the Destiny universe. Although details about future storylines remain vague, there is speculation about new directions and potential developments beyond the Light and Dark saga [4:3]. Players can expect ongoing content updates and expansions that will build upon the established world and its characters.
I'm new to the game, and it feels like I'm being thrown every which-a-way and being bombarded by information.
Like, it suggested I did the Timeline stuff before doing I think The Final Shape, which I did. And I'm not sure what the Timeline stuff was about, because I logged in today and it automatically put me in The Final Shape, where you apparently see Cayde again? And my character talks like we know him, though I didn't think we met him before.
I thought the Timeline was like, just showing history. Was the Timeline like, earlier campaigns or something?
And like I have so many quests I didn't even know I got or know what they're for, that I'm kinda lost like what the hell the story even is or what I'm meant to be doing rn. Like I thought you were supposed to do New Light stuff first, but the fact it just threw me into The Final Shape by itself is like, what?
First things first, you are not alone. The new player experience in D2 is horrible frankly. I'll do my best.
The timeline contains information about previous campaigns and events in lore. For the most part you don't have to sweat over the lore and stuff, just try to absorb what you can and if it's too confusing then watch a YouTube video on the topic, the destiny community has a ton of awesome content creators.
Destiny 2 bombards the player with quests and objectives right at the start, so this is a fairly common complaint. You want to look for the campaign quests, things that have like 30-40 quest steps, usually go over one of the dlc campaigns you have access to. My advice is to pick a planet and start there.
"New light" just refers to a new player and "The Final Shape" is just the name of the most recent dlc, don't be alarmed thinking you got thrown to the end right at the beginning.
As far as Cayde, he talks to your character like that because in the lore, they did know each other. Bungue again isn't great at new player onboarding, so they didn't really explain that. Sorry man.
Take your time. This game has a ton to do and see, and unfortunately, it's not the best at explaining itself. Don't worry about dungeons or raids or anything like that. You're not there yet. This game is amazing and fun but dense as all hell sometimes. Don't be afraid to ask about what you don't understand, and youtube and light.gg will be your friend. Good luck, i hope this game sucks you in like it did me
Very well put. The lore is extremely dense and as a vet, there's still tons I don't know/get.
Unintentionally though, the reason I agree to not fret lore details is from a more zoomed out/philosophical view. Up until the Final Shape, this timeline was essentially fated to end up like all the others where by this point, all that exists basically is dead/gone. However, your guardian is essentially the catalyst that caused a timeline that's never existed, where we...win.
Think Groundhog Day/LiveDieRepeat/All you need is kill/Avengers Endgame/etc...
I don't believe this was the original direction (again, a whole other thing), which is why legacy content in New Light feels so disjointed. So you just have to use it to get used to mechanics, weapons, armor, builds. Going forward will basically be what happens after the "happy" ending, which IMO is somewhat promising.
Directing you to another comment I’ve made that I think should help you out. It’s too much to retype on my phone.
The timeline quests are the short introduction version of the actual dlc campaign that they come from.
Because you're just starting, the game assumes that you are playing the newest dlc and gives you a brief summary of the history of D2.
If you bought all of the DLCs in the timeline and you want to do them in order of the dlc releases, follow the timeline. You can mark the quests. The campaigns usually have at least 20 steps. Some will branch off into an exotic, but if you look at the page where it says "past quests" and has an hour glass symbol next to it, it will show you the campaigns there.
My recommendation is to get all of the DLCs and start from the first playable one which I think is Forsaken. Next is Shadow Keep and then it's Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall and then Final Shape.
If you're on PlayStation or discord I can help you out. Message me your Bungie and discord.
Is buying the dlcs necessary?
Not necessarily. You won't be able to do their quests or access the content from them without purchasing them, but as long as you have the final shape you should be able to do all current content
Not necessary, but best because if you want to have all the subclasses and other things that make the game so much more accessible and so much more fun than it's worth it.
Yes.
I'm at a loss. The gunplay is amazing but the rest is a complete mess for me and I'd like some direction. I boot it up and it has a cutscene about how light and dark are diametrically opposed and we need to defeat the Witness. I do the intro quest and some bounties then log off.
The next day when I boot it up I'm greeted with a cutscene about like, a worm god or something. Tons of space names being thrown at me. Now I'm lost. I go to do the strike (I think it was called that) and the description makes it clear that this takes place before we killed the Witness. So I guess that happens.
I finish that strike thing. It's a blast. Just fun shooting with a couple o' randos. Get back and Zavala is like "hey guess what, we can use the dark now and the Witness isn't the dark personified". So that invalidates the intro almost immediately, I guess.
Then I'm given the timeline thing. It has so many things on it. I assume these things happened in Destiny 1? I was told to just jump straight into this game but I am beyond lost. The story makes absolutely no sense to me and I was too overwhelmed by quests being thrown at me so I had to take a step back.
Do I seriously need to like read a wiki to understand how the game begins? Did I accidentally skip all of the things explaining what came before? I get guardians and the traveller and all that but everything else seems out of reach.
Anyways, sorry for the rant.
If it’s of any help, and you have interest in watching YouTube videos, I compiled a playlist of story content from the start of Destiny 1 to The Final Shape. Hope this is helpful!
Well, from a GAME world standpoint, you are a brand new Guardian. Some confusion is normal as Guardians have no memory of their previous life, but the New Light experience leaves much to be desired I'm told. MyNameIsByf is your guy on YouTube. It's a lot of info, but he was born to tell this story.
Yeah... this is a known and big issue in Destiny 2. Ask any veteran and they'll tell you the onboarding is horrible.
If you truly want the best way to understand the story. It's actually a 10 hour video by Byf. Which is terrible, not the video which is great, but that it's the best way to know the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzBmOeYmN_M&t=1981s&ab_channel=MynameisByf
(Keep in mind that the Byf video talks about the lore in chronological order, for example we knew almost nothing about The Witness and Rhulk when we learned about Oryx. You'll figure out who these figures are as you go.)
If you want to experience the story in game and don't mind spending money. Watch the Byf video up until he talks about Shadowkeep. (campaigns in D2 before that have been removed. Part of why you are so confused is because they removed a bunch of stuff that would ease you into the game.) Then play the campaigns in this order: Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall, Finalshape.
If you are also lost on all the UI stuff and how to actually manage the game. Which guns are good? What should I keep versus not? Don't worry about it for now. Guns are powercrept all the time. So by the time you've played it all, old guns don't matter. Just play with what you like. There are also a lot of guides on youtube, but don't watch any that are older than about 3 months, since those are not really relevant. If you get exotics, just put them in your vault for now if they are above 60 stats. (next big expansion, armor is getting a massive overhaul, we don't know exactly what the impact is, just know that a lot of stuff will change.)
So TLDR>
If you want to know the full story(lore) watch the byf video. (until he talks about shadowkeep and then play if you want to spend.) For guns and ability knowledge, just play what you like for now until you are more familiar with the game.
PS: If you want we can hop into the game together and play through some stuff. I'll be able to explain more about the lore and the story. I've been here since D1 day 1 and I'm a pretty big lorebuff.
Even then, the yearly jumps don't work because the seasons have pivotal moments. Savathuns story in the last season of beyond light (season of the lost if I remember the name right) matters so heavily for witch queen. Season of the seraph is one of the best stories we've gotten. What's funny is you can just splice the intro and final cutscene of light fall and you don't lose much.
I think the absence of key seasonal story plot points makes learning the story from campaigns a little jumpy. It's hard to draw a line from Shadowkeep to Beyond Light without Arrivals, or Beyond Light to Witch Queen without Hunt+Splicer+Lost, etc.
They've cut so much content, the best thing to do to understand the story in any coherent form is watch My Name is Byf lore videos.
If there is a new content update it throws you into it when you next start, usually a cut scene then a mission.
Do follow the "A Guardian Rises" quest line first, it's the tutorial and gets you on the path to collect the first three subclasses.
You can orient yourself a bit on the map Destinations screen by going through the Timeline missions under the grey icon top right, items on the horizontal line through the middle start missions.
But what order you do actually do quest lines is generally up to the player, there isn't much guidance otherwise on order.
It’s definitely overwhelming for new players. You’re basically dropping into the end credits scene on a 10 year story arc. I’d suggest going on YouTube and looking up new player guides. If it’s lore you want, there’s videos for that too.
And, FOR SOME REASON, Bungie decided that just TELLING people about the new stuff in the Directory Tab wasn't good enough so everytime you log off and then back on, NEW SEASONAL/EPISODIC CUTSCENE! :D
Did you really find it complicated? You just played the game and you'd get a bunch of different mats, then you just go to eidos lab and run around interacting with the prompts.
Personally I would rework/merge shadowkeep and beyond light into a proper campaign that introduces new players. Had a friend new to destiny try it same confusion but once the action starts it’s simpler to understand.
I disagree that reintroducing the old expansions would magically fix the narrative people forget how much narrative is in the seasons.
I’ve been this game since beta D1 and I play a lot. Basically the only game I’ve played since release. I still get lost sometimes. Also still don’t know exactly how tonics work. Just keep brewing what I can and then more are available somehow ?!? Whatever
I'm about to purchase The Final Shape, but what did I miss and what do I do first?
Definitely do the campaign first! The Guardian Games event is on right now, so you can mess about a bit with that too before it leaves. The current 3 month long season/episode thing is neat too, but do it after the campaign, or you'll get spoilers.
highly recommend doing the campaign, and looking for guides on how to get alll the aspects and fragments for prismatic
I agree with getting the campaign done asap. Put most of your effort into that and check out a guide beforehand for the new subclass, prismatic, because certain missions have secret chests that contain fragments. It’ll be annoying going back into missions just for those. Also, unlock and get the exotic mission dual destiny done as it will allow you to get the exotic class items for you and unlock the ability to possibly drop them from activities and chests around the pale heart. As well as buy some from Xur during the weeks he offers them.
Guardian games has a fun game mode attached to it this year (rushdown) and a couple of the weapons are worth getting a good roll on. There’s a little over a week left for it so get some runs in while you can.
After all that I’d start working on the episodic stuff, assuming you have access to them. (Heresy season) Lots of good weapons and cool activities to participate in there, (Nether, Court of Blades) but that will be around for a little bit still so no rush on that. Good luck guardian.
Recently I’ve been extremely excited for the Final Shape expansion, as I understood it would be the last major expansion of Destiny 2 and would end the light/dark saga. However, I’m now being told that’s wrong and whilst it’s a big expansion it isn’t anything to be really excited about as they will keep pumping out expansions for the game that continue the story. Is this true? And how would this continue if not following the light/dark plot?
All the plot relating to the witness, the traveller and the final shape will be wrapped in this expansion, this will allow bungie to move on and focus on other factions and events rather than being stuck in a perpetual state of “darkness is coming” for the next 10 years.
Most likely it’ll either be a focus on the fallen, vex or cabal. Whether that be finding the origin of the vex or helping retaking the cabal and fallen’s orginal homes. There’s also the option for one of the disciples to take the limelight, since they’ll no longer be following the witness’ orders.
We don't know. We've only gotten vague statements that TFS is not the end, but what the future will be is a mystery for now. Perhaps the 3 episodes that will come out the next year will set up the next big thing or maybe they will just wrap up other storylines. We don't know. Some leaks claim they're working on Destiny 3 with internal codename 'payback' but that might as well be made up.
Alright, let me put my boy Luke Smith on speed dial real quick.
Seriously though, how would anyone know? The only thing bungie has gave us officially is Destiny as a franchise won’t be ending, if you hear anything else it’s just fan speculations and baseless rumors.
Because that’s what they’re supposed to say lol
I'm very excited for it, but I only bought the expansion. I didn't buy the annual pass for the first time in years. They've been too vague about what the future looks like and if that future is just endless, disconnected seasons (rebranded as "episodes") I'll be using TFS as a stopping point until D3
the final shape is the final expansion for this saga of destiny 2, the light and dark saga. there might be expansions in the future but it will be for a different story and plot completely
So not only is final shape only having a measly 7 story missions, but if you don’t have a raid team you just don’t get to finish the story.
I mean I hopefully this will push more people to use an lfg system and we can have more people get to have an ending to the story and not just watch it on YouTube
I’m aware this news dropped a few days ago wasn’t fully caught up with the news cycle
Calm your outrage, I think in an interview somebody said that when the raid is beaten, a final activity or mission opens where everyone experiences the ending.
If I’m reading what your saying correctly
once the raid is beaten as in ANYONE beating it like a first clear is done a event becomes available so that everyone can experience the actual ending regardless of raid completion ?
Have you read literally anything about Final Shape.
Joe said, in like 5 different ways, INCLUDING IN THE MAIN REVEAL ITSELF, this isn't the case.
Raid team is not necessary to see the story end.
Also, shocker, you have to play content? To see the end?
In the main reveal I forget her name but she explicitly states that the witness is a raid boss and there is no other ending that is satisfying than kill the witness the big bad we’ve been waiting to fight for so long so idk what joe means by what he said
Did you play The Taken King? The story missions ended with a pretty cool fight against Oryx where you force him to retreat to his Throne World. You'd have to run King's Fall if you wanted to see him Kaiju-sized or to send him spiraling down toward Saturn, but just playing the story missions still gave you a satisfying fight against the boss of the expansion.
I mean… about 83% of the player base has never even finished a single raid encounter and bungie knows that so idk why they’d do that
All due respect, but you're basically completely wrong. TFS will very specifically have a conclusion that is available and playable by all players and NOT just people who can raid. This has already been clarified specifically because of concerns about how past expansions have featured a conclusion that was locked behind a raid
Bungie has already confirmed that the confrontation with The Witness will take place in The Final Shape's raid, but also promised that non-raiders will experience the climax of the story in full, including the defeat of The Witness. (Assuming we win, of course.) Blackburn says that the denouement won't just be a cut-scene. He explains that whereas The Witch Queen and Lightfall campaigns each had eight missions, The Final Shape will ship with seven "on day one". The implication being that the eighth mission unlocks for everyone once the raid has been beaten. He also indicates that the format of that mission will be different to the boss encounters against Savathun and Calus from previous campaigns. "When we did The Witness it just didn't pass the sniff test, so we knew we needed a different strategy."
So basiclly everyone gets to kill the witness (assuming we win obviously) but the raid is like “true fight” type of thing where yes you do defeat them in the main campaign and it’s different and hard and awesome but the raid is like the “actual way” but both player types are able to get a defeat on the witness… im hesitantly optimistic about that just cause this is bungie we’re taking about
What’s prob gonna happen is we weaken the witness in the raid or something along those lines, then the final campaign mission opens where he gets truly defeated.
Stay mad dude. Keep finding shit to be upset about. Learn to read.
lol. Reading and or listening comprehension not good
Hi Guardians,
I played a lot of Destiny 2 during The Witch Queen expansion and some of Lightfall, but I’ve been away for a while. I’m thinking about coming back now to play The Final Shape, but I’m a bit out of the loop regarding how seasons and episodes work these days.
If I purchase The Final Shape now, will I have access to all the episodes for this season, or only the ones that haven’t been released yet? How is the story being told in this format? Will I be able to follow along, or will I need to watch YouTube summaries to catch up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Final Shape will give access to the current episode.
Final Shape Annual Pass will give access to all 3.
Stories are relatively self-contained, but all take place after Final Shape with the climax being the catalyst for the stories to begin. You shouldn't need to go to any external sources to understand them.
To add to this, Episode 2 is almost over, so it would be ideal to buy Final Shape when next episode comes out, unless you are buying the Annual Pass, then it doesn't matter.
I would suggest you dig-in to the content you own, and catch up on stuff first. There is plenty of content for you to farm before even getting into Final Shape. Then see how you are feeling about the game.
I still suggest you wait until next episode drops before buying Final Shape, because this episode will leave a bad taste in your mouth. (again, unless you buy the annual pass edition)
The episodes feel shorter than seasons were in the past. The pale heart is the best destination we’ve gotten in terms of fun I’d say. I like to farm out ergo sums and exotic class items each week. Prismatic is a lot of fun. The raid isn’t as hard as people make it out to be, most people over complicate the fourth encounter. The raid exotic is actually great. The bow from the raid is one of the best legendary ad-clear weapons in the game. 12 man activity with excision can be laggy but it’s a good time. For the experience it is as good if not better than the witch queen.
Episodes function the exact same as seasons, the only difference is the narrative structure and the pacing of content release (in other words they're self-contained stories that have three acts, as opposed to ongoing stories that build off the previous/towards the next). If you buy just the Final Shape you will get access to the current Episode (Revenant), but you will not be able to access the previous Episode (Echoes) and would have to buy the next Episode (Heresy) separately.
You should be able to follow the story of any Episode you have access to without external sources, however its pretty commonly agreed that Episode: Echoes drags on/has too much filler, and Episode: Revenant is too rushed/does not have enough content (hopefully Episode: Heresy will strike a good balance, but we'll have to wait and see). With that in mind, you may find yourself wanting to watch youtube recaps of the story regardless as both Echoes and Revenant haven't been super strong narrative-wise. (I would recommend completing the Final Shape before playing any Episodes as they're intended to be epilogues, but playing them alongside/before TFS shouldn't really spoil or ruin anything major)
If you want access to all three Episodes you will need to buy the annual pass, as the only way to get access to Echoes now is through the annual pass (or to have purchased it when it was the current season). If you are going to buy the annual pass it's better to do it sooner rather than later as all the Episodes will be inaccessible after Codename: Apollo comes out this summer, so the sooner you buy the pass the longer you'll have access to the content.
I think that in the final shape (or just before the end of the final shape) we will see the gardener after going inside of the traveler (this would happen after the halfway point of the story). The rest or the story will involve this big plan to assault the city after the traveler had been "destroyed". By this point, we are the only one who knows about the gardener (on our side) the second to last mission will involve going to earth and making our way to the traveler (like in the red war).
The final mission will be us invading a broken wall of the city were we go to where the traveler would be, we would see the witness and have our final fight. After we defeat the witness, we will call in the gardener to finish the witness off but the winnower comes in and teleports the witness away along with herself.
The pyramid fleet would be in orbit after this, we would be rebuilding the city and we would be able to visit the gardener in a new part of the tower (a sort of light area that has been created by the gardener).
The raid would see us going into the shattered mirror (if I remember right this was theorised to be the voice in the darkness(who we can presume is the winnower)pyramid ship). Here we would defeat a few different darkness bosses, the second to last would be the witness, with the final boss being the winnower.
The cutscene after worlds 1st would be a fully animeted cutscene unlike the usual black and white cutscenes. This would involve the pyramids (winnower) and the traveler (gardener) becoming one. We would get two new vendors, the winnower and gardener. They would offer unique weapons with the winnower offering darkness weapons and bountys ect, and the gardener offering light weapons and bountys ect.
Is there a "pin and reminder" bot? :P If so, can somebody use it to pin this for say 6 months after lightfall drops, so then we can come back and repin with the date of final shape's release?
I don't think the Traveler is going to survive Lightfall tbh. As for the Winnower... as much as the Traveler's presence implicates the former existing, Bungie could just as easily make this a battle between mortals who somehow got their hands on supernatural power and/or ignore the fact that the Pyramids are alive (like half of the rest of this subreddit).

I think Lightfall is going to be very "Light and Dark" whilst The Final Shape is "just Dark".
If I remember right a byf theory said that "there needs to be balance in the galaxy, if there is no light there's no dark" and vice versa. It might have been a different person's theory tho
The mistake there is thinking that either of these beings dying would end Light or Dark. They may be the creators, but they're players now. Their power exists as fabric woven into the tapestry of the universe, but they themselves are merely patterns like the rest of us. Powerful ones, unique ones, but patterns nonetheless.

The Sundial was the gateway to a thousand futures, many where the Cabal outright killed the Traveler. Light persisted still. The same will go for the Darkness if the Winnower were to die. Even when the Traveler was merely caged, not all Light disappeared, just the Light tethered to it... except the pieces of itself that weren't in the cage that we got our Light back from.
More spinfoil than every Bolt-Caster quest combined
Spinfoil? Fan fiction.
It’s only Fan-Fiction once Final Shape launches.
Non-zero percent chance
Maybe leave it for Byf.

Ageee to disagree. I think the writing so far has been really strong. Im five missions in and I’ve loved it. Every character getting strong arcs or just nice development. Witness has been great. Cayde is that nice level of wit and sadness.
It’s not the greatest game ever made but I think it’s the strongest expansion narratively so far. It’s incredibly focused.
No idea why the Witness had to use examples for the Final Shape. Why is Taniks considered a perfect example?
All they gotta do is build up a compelling villain and then let us kill that villain. It may not be the most amazing story in the world, but at least it'll be satisfying.
My jaw dropped when the witness hugged us and said "welcome to the final shape"
My favourite bit was when the Witness said "It's Final Shaping Time" and Final Shaped all over those guys
I will say the sex scene between Zavala and the witness was a bit much but I didn't mind it
Maybe the real final shape all along was a little bit of love
i’ll give the witness a final shape
The witnesses goofy head is the final shape 💀
"So how **is** your sister?"
*Mara immediately arrives with the Helm*
It was a joke before the game was even playable
“Cayde why do you still fight?”
“Because it’s my destiny 2”
It’s witnessing time
Hey,
So… I used to play Destiny 2 way back in the day - Red War, Warmind, Forsaken. But when Bungie killed off Cayde-6, I was done. Watched the cinematic, got genuinely pissed, and uninstalled the game right then and there. Didn’t come back after that. At all.
That was on PS4, and I honestly don’t even remember my account info anymore. Still, I’ve loosely followed what’s been going on with Destiny over the years. Saw all the stuff that got vaulted (which still seems kinda insane), and figured the game just wasn’t for me anymore.
But a couple weeks ago I saw the Light & Darkness Saga Complete Edition on sale for super cheap, and I thought… screw it, why not. And yeah, hearing that Cayde is somehow back in The Final Shape definitely played a part. I was curious.
So now I’m back in. Haven’t touched anything since Forsaken, so I’m basically starting from scratch. The Tower feels like a completely different place, the menus are overwhelming, and I’ve got no clue what I’m supposed to be doing.
Where should I even begin? Is there a good order to play the expansions in? I don’t mind taking my time — just want to catch up properly.
Also… is now actually a good time to get back into Destiny? Or does it only seem like one? I guess that’s something I’ll have to figure out for myself, opinions seem all over the place lately. Still, I’m here now, so I’ll see where it goes.
Welcome back! You can play the expansions in chronological order, but the most important ones are Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, Lightfall (for Strand), and of course The Final Shape. I recommend playing them on the highest difficulty to unlock the exotic gear available at the end of each campaign.
With the new expansion, Edge of Fate, the way you gain Power has changed a bit. The static Power cap is now 200, and you can reach it just by playing normally. To go beyond that, you’ll need gear with Seasonal Power. These items can be earned by playing Portal activities (PvE and PvP). The Power increase they provide depends on the difficulty of the activity or your performance in PvP.
All activities available through the Portal can help you go beyond 200 Power (the current max cap is 450), but to get better loot—with higher Seasonal Power and better tier—you’ll need to increase the activity’s difficulty. This is done using the new system that lets you choose modifiers and challenges. The harder the modifiers, the better the loot.
Of course, gear with Seasonal Power can be infused into your existing equipment, but you'll need a new currency obtained by dismantling loot with Seasonal Power.
Now, each piece of equipment also has a Tier level that goes up to 5, and the bonuses provided at higher tiers are significant. To get higher-tier drops, just play higher-difficulty activities with challenging modifiers.
Finally, the way stats work has also been updated. For more details, I recommend checking out the various blog posts Bungie has published on their website to better understand the changes.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask
Thanks for your answer! Quick question, is campaign difficulty actually that important? Like, is it doable on Legendary without too much stress?
I’d say it’s doable, but I remember some encounters being pretty tough. As someone who enjoys challenge and difficulty, the Legendary version was actually quite fun. Anyway, you can change the difficulty whenever you want, but keep in mind that doing so means you won’t get the guaranteed exotic drop at the end.
Following and completing Guardian Ranks should be a good first step for newcomers. It’s what they are intended to do.
Thanks! One more thing, I checked the Guardian Ranks like you suggested, but Rank 3 is already asking me to complete "Edge of Fate," which I think is part of the newest content post-Final Shape? I don’t even own that yet, so it feels a bit off.
It will be asking you to complete the first mission for Edge of Fate, which is free for all users.
It will also give you the seasonal artifact which you can then choose your mods as you level it up.
I think that’s it for Rank 3.
Following
I just want clarification on something. I just finished the first battle with The Witness now I am being sent to do a bunch of other side questions and missions. How does this make sense lore wise? We were in a rush the whole time to stop The Witness from destroying the traveler, did he stop doing that? I saw he had a crack on his head but why are we now stopping this rush to go run off and do missions that are unrelated to the whole story of pursuing him?
I am on step 30-34 of the campaign but I am a bit lost. I feel like I missing something since The Witness is still alive and here I presume. Why did we stop chasing him to go do random shit in the pale heart all of a sudden? It doesnt feel like the story is even over.
We need to regroup and prepare for the final battle, everyone took a beating
We arent regrouping tho. We are still going on missions against savathun, the cabal and the taken. Thats what confuses me. What is The Witness doing during this time? What is happening to The Traveler? ( I guess I will find out I hope )
We arent regrouping tho. We are still going on missions against savathun, the cabal and the taken.
We are though. While also engaging in activities to help the traveler and weaken the witness.
