Broadway Dance Center
Broadway Dance Center is a highly recommended studio located in Manhattan. They offer an "Absolute Beginners Series" which includes jazz and hip-hop classes [3:1]. This studio is well-known for its diverse class offerings and experienced instructors, making it a great choice for those looking to explore different dance styles.
Peridance Capezio Center
Another popular studio in Manhattan is Peridance Capezio Center. They provide a variety of dance classes multiple times per day and week, including hip-hop [3:2]. The center is praised for its welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity it provides for dancers to transition into other forms of dance.
305 Fitness
305 Fitness has locations in Williamsburg and Park Avenue and is known for its energetic dance cardio classes with live DJs [1:2]
[5]. While not exclusively a hip-hop dance studio, the lively environment and music selection make it a fun option for those who enjoy hip-hop music while working out.
Free Mind Studio
Located near the Jefferson L stop, Free Mind Studio offers intro to hip-hop dance classes among other styles [1:1]. This studio is noted for its accessibility and variety of classes, catering to different levels of experience and interest.
Ryan’s Academy of Dance (RAD)
For those specifically looking for children's hip-hop dance classes, Ryan’s Academy of Dance was mentioned as having offered hip-hop classes in the past [2:1]. Although primarily focused on younger dancers, it's worth checking if they have ongoing programs suitable for adults as well.
These studios represent some of the best options for hip-hop dance enthusiasts in NYC, offering a range of classes from beginner to advanced levels across various locations. Whether you're looking for a structured learning environment or a fun workout session, these studios provide excellent opportunities to engage with hip-hop dance.
I second 305 fitness in Williamsburg! It's the most fun I've ever had working out
this studio doesnt show up as listed on google maps and is inside of what I remember to be a community center, but they have great carribean and african inspired dance lessons
Not in Bushwick, but 305 Fitness in Williamsburg is amazing!! Dance cardio with a live DJ 💃
I’ve been to Intro to Hip Hop dance at Free Mind, the studio! They have lots of different classes, too. Not far from the Jefferson L. Def recommend.
My 10-year-old son is passionate about breakdancing and hip hop. I'm looking for a dance studio that has a strong urban vibe - one that truly specializes in hip-hop rather than offering it as a secondary style alongside ballet and contemporary. Are there any studios that focus primarily on street dance styles for kids?
Additionally, I'm hoping to find a place that offers drum and/or electric guitar lessons. Both of my kids loved their experience at School of Rock in our current city, so we'd love to find something similar. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
The only hip-hop dance studio in SLO was Street Heat. They’ve been closed for a little while now, but some of their instructors migrated to CORE Dance (which has multiple styles being taught, including hip-hop).

For dance, check out Ryan’s Academy of Dance (RAD) - they used to have hip-hop classes. Ryan is fantastic.
For drums/guitar Music Motive is likely your best bet aside from seeking out individual instructors. Stefanie is also great.
Two great sources!!!
Thank you!
Hi everyone! I've recently started taking ballet classes both for fun and to make friends, and I've really been enjoying it! I'm looking to take another dance class, but something more upbeat like jazz or hip hop, and was wondering it anyone had recommendations in Manhattan for studios/classes (ideally, anywhere on the west side).
Peridance has a variety of dance classes that are offered multiple times per day/week. Taking one class can be a definite pathway to other forms of dance, as you’ve already been experiencing! 👏
Can I ask where you’re taking the ballet classes? Been looking for a good studio to get back into it!
Broadway dance center has absolute beginners series and they usually have Jazz and hip hop https://broadwaydancecenter.com/workshop/abw/abw-june-18-july13-2025
Hiya, im a 29M looking for a hip-hop/street dance group in the Hackney area. I've got 10yrs experience but very rusty. If anyone has reccomendations of a good dance studio, that would be amazing!
Somebody else asked about dance classes recently, which might help
Hi everyone,
I am a new member and I am trying to find the best classes to go to. I found that so far I have not vibed with some of the classes I have taken. I love hip hop music and liked to know if anyone has any recommendations of great instructors to try.
I frequently visit Brooklyn heights and the Wall Street location. But I work on the lower Manhattan and willing to travel for a great class experience. So for my favorite class is 305 fitness at Park avenue.
Are you looking for HIIT classes? Or easier? What’s your vibe?
I’m into all classes. I did F45 for a year but switched because I wanted to add some variation to my routine
If you want HIIT, Jeff Robinson and Esteban are amazing!!! even their sculpt classes are soo good! Ginny king is amazing too but she’s leaving soon😢
You're a badass!
DGunnz is a cycling instructor and plays hip-hop!!
Bonnie Flannery has the best hip hop playlists!
You could try Jermaine's or Ugo's boxing classes at Wall. They both mostly play hip hop and they provide good workouts.
Thank you!
Hi! I’m looking for a hip hop dance studio or maybe a group to join.Does anyone know any good studios or casual/open groups? Thanks in advance)
I struggled with this living in Antwerp so I just used to take Flixbus to Amsterdam every weekend and take classes there 🤣 but check out VIPE Antwerp on Instagram, maybe it’s for you?
I only know that if you're more into hip hop freestyle scratch Antwerp may fit you, haven't been there but I know some coaches were from LGU which was the only organisation in Antwerp that focused on freestyle and battles some years ago.
For more typical choreography / danceschool I don't have suggestions but there should be plenty of options.
Does anyone know a good studio for beginner adult hip hop dance classes in the area? I've always wanted to take some when I was younger but never could. It would be a plus if they had any k-pop dance classes too.
Temple City, which isn’t that far (I do the drive twice a day, almost daily) has a few dance studios that are very K-Pop and J-Pop based.
Revolution Dance Studio
Space Academy Dance & Music
YG Dance Studio

I wouldn't recommend them for absolute beginners, but I've read completely inexperienced is different from "beginner" in the dancing world. I've also read that they should be taking dance fitness classes at a gym at first instead. The few times I tried classes there it felt super awkward and uncomfortable/not a welcoming vibe for me as an actual beginner. I think more experienced dancers recommending it wouldn't really pick up on that.
That’s fair. It’s definitely a real dance class with choreography and all, but the teachers (especially Aukai) are very co-operative and will make you feel comfortable. They will help you learn the fundamentals as well, like in a grooves class. That being said I do agree, it’s a bit awkward as a beginner because they rely on students asking questions more and as a beginner I can def understand it being a little intimidating
I tried this and it was fun! They have adult classes and it’s a wide variety of people that attend
I second this
Look on classpass! I take some on the west side but there were a few studios in the east LA area that popped up.
Obligatory: https://youtu.be/IS2KQ46Kf84?si=qqEpjZIOjJxanvJZ
I was hoping this would be here 😂
I had no idea what this was going to be. I wasn't disappointed
Have you checked PCC extension?
PCC has summer classes open to the public. They do offer hip hop and it’s all ages. Used to take those classes as a student and it was fun!
I’m moving back from NYC to the suburbs of the DFW area. I’m looking for places to take walk in dance classes, preferably difficult ones, and not the ones that teach basics. Are there any dance studios that offer that? And are they mostly in the city? I’m deathly afraid of driving.
@teamathenadtx.. they just won WOD Dallas for the fourth year in a row
@HQDallas also has frequent classes with intermediate and advanced choreo. I’m not a dancer but enjoy choreography. Will probably pop into HQDallas for a beginner course
I’m assuming team Athena is women’s only? Thx for the suggestionsss
Check Carlos carlos_hndz90 in Instagram. He is a former Dallas cowboys dancer and a lot of his regulars are at that level in his advance classes. Classes are in Addison on Thursdays
Ahhh thank youuu
Is there a studio in town that has hip hop dance classes?
Idk about SB but they’re are some in Oxnard and Camarillo. @epworkshops @motiongroundsstudio
