I think we all agree that 2023 was horrible for music but to change it up a bit I'm gonna post the only good mainstream songs of 2023. It's not a long list because music was just so bad in 2023. Here they are in no particular order:

Glad to see that Radical Optimism got some love. I hate how it's routinely tagged as Dua's flop album when it really is a solid pop album with some fun bops.

If you were in the intended demographic (teen/young adult female or similar), it must've been a bop year. The teams behind these artists really nailed the formula. Expect the next 3-4 years to sound exactly like these songs, though, as other teams try to capitalize on the meta. Good ol' pop music, eh?

Pretty much, anyone who thinks music has stagnated or whatever doesn't understand that music sells to young people first, and the crop of young people is a revolving door. They can just keep rehashing the same stuff forever because the customers are always being born. Regardless of that, last year was a bop for pop music.

Welcome to the reveal of the Top 100 Tracks of 2024, as voted by our subreddit!

We had a total of 304 people submit votes this year, which we compiled into the final list that we are revealing today. Remember, any one artist can only have a maximum of THREE songs make the final list (not including features).

The reveal will start about an hour after this post goes up, at 12:00 PM EST. We will be listening to all the songs that made the list from #100 to #1 together in the video-sharing site Queup. You don’t need to have a Queup account to watch along, but we encourage you to create one so you can talk with us in the chat! We will also be revealing the songs one-by-one in this thread, each with a blurb written by one of our many amazing writeup volunteers. We are going to be listening to all 100 songs in full, so this will be a LONG event (6-7 hours). Please pop in and out as you are able, but definitely try to tune in for the big top 10 reveal!

I am more than happy to see Yves, Loosemble and ARTMS here but boy this list was a mess. I see glimpses of incredible music mixed up with tiktok slops and generic radio plays added just because they charted and like… What is the criteria exactly? Why are we putting Camilla Cabello next to Madgalena Bay? Gracie Abrams over Coraline Polachek and Doechii?.. We have Lunch from Billie and not Chihiro or Blue? Same with Kendrick, the most generic pics out of incredible album with golden songs that also charted.

Edit: I just realized it was a subs’ choice list and not an receipt from some article.
