Ninja Levels in Naruto

TL;DR In the Naruto series, ninja ranks are generally categorized as Genin, Chunin, Jonin, Special Jonin, and Kage. Each rank reflects a different level of skill, responsibility, and capability.

Genin

Genin is the lowest ninja rank, typically assigned to those who have just graduated from the academy. The strength and capabilities of genin can vary widely, from those barely able to perform basic jutsu to prodigies like Neji [2:1]. While many genin are still developing their skills, some, like Naruto and Sasuke, possess abilities far beyond their rank due to unique circumstances or natural talent [2:5], [2:7].

Chunin

Chunin are ninjas who have demonstrated sound decision-making and leadership abilities. They are trusted to lead teams and are generally more skilled than genin. However, the portrayal of chunin in the series can be inconsistent, with some appearing less competent compared to exceptional genin [4:1]. The Chunin Exams are a notable event where genin are tested for promotion, though the exams' difficulty can be exaggerated by plot-specific challenges [4:2], [4:3].

Jonin and Special Jonin

Jonin are elite ninjas with a wide range of jutsu and the ability to lead missions. They are considered to be in the "big leagues" and are expected to handle significant responsibilities [2:1]. Special Jonin, on the other hand, are similar to chunin but excel in a specific area, such as kenjutsu [2:2], [2:3].

Kage

The Kage is the highest-ranking ninja in a village, responsible for making crucial decisions and leading the community. They are typically the most powerful and experienced ninjas, although the series sometimes portrays characters like Naruto, who technically remain genin, as possessing Kage-level abilities [2:5].

Rank Perception and Realism

The ranking system in Naruto serves as a framework for understanding a character's role and capabilities, but it is not always strictly adhered to. Characters often surpass the expectations of their rank due to plot developments or unique talents [4:4]. This flexibility allows for dynamic storytelling but can also lead to inconsistencies in how ranks are perceived [4:5].

For raw power/chakra I’d say high jonin. For strategy/technique/versatility of jutsus: chunnin.

They could probably both beat the less experienced jonins and specialists, but more strategic opponents shouldn’t have too hard of a time with them.

Another way to think about it is that Naruto in this scene is significantly weaker than beginning part 2 naruto who was probably weaker than beginning part 2 Gaara who got clapped by Deidara who had to hold back to ensure he didn’t kill Gaara. Deidara is definitely ABOVE most Jonin and some Kage. So Naruto in this scene probably scales to what, 1/3rd beginning of part 2 Gaara? Maybe even less? So based on that scaling I would call Naruto low jonin here - but that scaling is pulled out of my ass so feel free to disagree.

I think they are both jonin level both in power and jutsus during that fight tbh (even tough jonun level is a completely arbitrary classification ofcourse)

Natuto has rasengan which is an A class jutsu and the only other people that can perform it are high level ninjas above regular jonin, then has multi shadow clones and summoning jutsu and kyjubi mode. this is stuff that most jonins cant do.

And Sasuke has Chidori, high level fire jutsu that can melt rock into lava, expert shurikenjutsu, a 3 tomoe sharingan and lvl 2 cursemark.

Both of them would wipe the floor with any regular jonin if not multiple at the same time.

Jonin and Chunin level barely even exist tbh. The gap is so large.

Like Guy beats both of them. The Great Ebisu one shots both

Mid-High Jounin, but still below the tippy top tier of jounin/bordering kage like Kakashi or Guy.

The Sound 4 were capable of defeating two tired jounin by ganging up on them with CM2. Kimmimaro, even a near-dead one, was significantly stronger than all of them. Gaara performed decently well against Kimmimaro, and he is definitely jounin class without using Shuukaku as he has killed many that tried to assassinate him.

Naruto was already on par with and superior to Gaara with his desperation/mental amp. 1 tail should more than make up for that. And Sasuke was about equal to Naruto. They were both easily in the upper levels of jounin, and if they worked together they might beat part 1 Kakashi.

I’d say average middle jonin. Lower end jonin usually don’t do much, and aren’t that strong at all. We’ve seen a couple throughout the series. Like Ebisu is a weak jonin

Genin-Hinata post graduation- maybe a jutsu or 2, can handle bandits and weaker fodder ninja.

Chunin-Sasuke post graduation-can comfortably fight decently strong ninja, has a few jutsu.

Special Jonin-Hayate-Same as Chunin except in one area they’re so good they could be considered Jonin level in that specific area. Ex. Kenjutsu

Jonin-Kurenai-can fight other elite ninja, has a decent amount of jutsu under their belt.

Genin is known to greatly vary in strength, due to it containing both ninja who barely passed the academy and prodigies who just haven't had a chance to take the Chunin exams yet.

Iruka is the average strength for a Chunin. I feel like that's the rank that is most consistent in strength because it's shown that ninja are often quickly promoted to Join from Chunin if they're strong enough (in the anime, they can skip Chunin all together).

Jonin is also hard to average because while there is a floor in strength level, there's no ceiling as there isn't a higher rank besides Kage. Maybe around Asuma?

>Genin is known to greatly vary in strength...

Not really, most Genin don't posse varied strength. Most genin are pathetic. The fact some are exceptional doesn't mean there is no average.

>Iruka is the average strength for a Chunin.

Iruka demonstrates skills far beyond most chunin. He has three nature transformations, including too elemental transformation the benchmark for average Jonin. The databook says he has the potential to be a Jonin, and during the War Arc restrains a base Naruto using the String Light Formation.

>Jonin is also hard to average because while there is a floor in strength level, there's no ceiling as there isn't a higher rank besides Kage. Maybe around Asuma?

This isn't true. Most characters who reach Kage level are no longer considered Jonin, with the databook of figures like Jiraiya or Bee as - instead of Jonin.

Asuma isn't an average anything, Asuma was a member of the Guardian Shinobi Twelve & was renowned as an exceptional shinobi to the point a heavy bounty was placed on his head. He isn't average. Most Jonin, as we saw in the War Arc, are closer to Raido, Genma, and Gecko than Asuma or even Kurneai.

This is a deceptively difficult question as most of the ninja we follow are not typical. All the sensei are above average Jonin, and all the genin of the Konoha 12 use incredibly unique fighting styles.

Genin: Sakura or Ino

Chunin: Izumo or Kotetsu

Special Jonin: Gemma & Radio (excluding FTG)

Jonin: Hayama Shirakumo, or Tekuno Kanane (these are filler characters, but they are the most detailed examples of regular jonin actually fighting) as even Asuma or Kurneai are far above your average Jonin.

Anbu: Fu & Torune, they are the best of Root, but based on our limited insight fairly representative of an average Anbu.

Anbu Captain: Part I Kakashi, Yamato, Kid Itachi.

Genin: You have just graduated the academy, you might be like Neji who was a prodigy or you could be just barely able to make a sufficient clone to pass. Varies wildly.

Chunin: You have grown a decent amount, you are someone who shows sound decision making and can be trusted to lead a team. You might not have as much brutal strength or power but you have shown capable in the strengths you do have and your leadership.

Jonin: Big leagues now, you should be able to lead a team with no issues, you should have a good arsenal of jutsu and picked accordingly to your nature. You should also have a secondary or third nature that you are comfortable with and have honed into your specialty to the point you can be seen as a teacher not just for your own skills but basics of others.

Special jonin: You are one thing and one thing only. Whatever your specialty is, you might not be jonin normally but due to some aspect of your skills and abilities you have set yourself aside and shown promise that your abilities no matter how weak or strong have value in a way others cant. It might be special abilities or just raw talent but you are a cut above the rest.

[Naruto] my problem with the chunin exams and the chunin rank in general

Posted by Sad-Commission2027 · in r/CharacterRant · 1 year ago

So if you ever watched Naruto, you know the ninja ranking system goes from genin at the bottom, then chunin, then jounin and finally Kage, in order for the genin to get promoted to chunin, they have to participate in the chunin Exams, the issue is with how insanely difficult and specific the exams are, it makes you feel like every chunin is the smartest most skilled ninja ever, but that's not the case.

All chunin we see in the series are useless fodder, they suck so bad that most of the named genin we get introduced in part 1 are way useful than chunins, Naruto when he just was an academy student not even a ninja yet, managed to beat a chunin in the first episode.

The Exams consist of a Mental test, a survival test and finally a fighting tournament, the survival test involve people dying, and the tournament has a very specific requirement for you to get promoted, you see, you don't just beat your opponent and win, nope ,you need to be smart while fighting, shikamaru despite giving up and losing got promoted, while Naruto won his match didn't, even tho Naruto did display some form of intelligence when fighting neji by tricking him with fake shadow clone body and make him think he won and then suprise attack him when he let his guard down.

Later on, a literal war happenes and Naruto single handedly defeated a tailed beast which was monumental to Khonaha victory, yet that wasn't enough to get promoted, instead shikamaru did (even tho he was pretending to be a sleep to not fight in the war which should have eliminated any chance of him getting promoted) so you would think that every chunin is some smart tactical genius, nope , all of them aside from shikamaru are stupid and useless, also supposedly the reason why Naruto wasn't promoted was because he wasn't smart enough to lead a team, first off nothing about the tests was about leadership, especially the tournament arc which was a one vs one fights, and secondly, chunins don't lead for the most part, there are some cases like in the sauske retrieval arc where shikamaru was chosen as a team leader, because conventionally the village had no high ranking ninja to send after orochimaru henchmen.

As far as I know the chunin exams is the only way a genin could get promoted to a chunin ,there a multiple headcanons in the fandom about field promotion without taking the exams but that is false as Naruto asked why he is still a genin when he saw the rest of the konaha 12 being chunin and some like neji being jonin, tsunade answers him by saying he didn't complete the exams, field promotions did exist in kakashi childhood because they were fighting a war and needed genin to become chunin extremely fast to take more dangerous missions in the war, but in Naruto time where there isn't a war between the shinobi villages, the promotion become more difficult to achieve as the village isn't in constant need of man power like they were during the third shinobi war.

My problem with the chunin rank is that it feels like some cheap way for kishimoto to keep Naruto as the underdog, by having everyone else get promoted but him even if he is ten times stronger and more useful than any of them, they still outrank him.

Tbf to mizuki the chunin exams are not that difficult they consist of a writing test in which you just need to cheat without getting caught 5 times or just dont do anything and decide to stay for the final question which ends up getting you an automatic pass then its running through a forest while evading monsters which was considered easy enough to only be a distraction from the real test being not opening the scrolls which is not that hard if your not stupid
the only real issue would be the fighting exam which entierly depends on who are you facing in the exam if you are facing fodder then its easy to pass by just doing some cool tricks
he also had to fight literally a 1000 narutos with nothing but 1 big shuriken and he was also not a ninja sent to combat
a better complaint would be the oni brothers(or demon brothers in the localization) who were supposedly chunins from the village known for having the hardest and cruelest tests to a point the konoha ninjas are seen as pussies who live in peace in comparison and yet they only have a single jutsu for hiding and they both get styled on by fresh from the academy genin sasuke
even tho its stated genins go from D rank jutsus at minimum to C rank at maximum and chunins are supposed to use C rank jutsus at minimum and B rank at maximum no chunins we know actually do anything on that level
the only characters who actually show capabilities fitting of what we know about chunins are the sound 4(not including their curse marks)

As brutal as the exams seemed at the time, if you stop and go over them point by point (and exclude the parts that were the result of unique circumstances) it's not that bad:

  1. The forest. It's pretty rough; but it's obviously survivable. All it's going to do is remove the lowest-performers in a particular generation.

  2. The test. This is honestly mostly played for laughs? It was a difficult test but, like, Sakura was able to pass it without cheating and cheating didn't seem that hard. And ofc you can also pass it just by getting to the end and being too determined to give up.

  3. The duels. People like Gaara are outliers. Most of the duels are more like the ones we see for side-characters, which are... fine. On top of this, you don't even have to win, as Shikamaru showed. IMHO this is mostly testing maturity. Shikamaru was the most mature of his generation and showed a realistic understanding of his capabilities and limitations; this is the main attribute they're looking for in a leader, not raw power. They want S1 Shikamaru to be the one giving orders to S1 Naruto or Sasuke, not the other way around - and that's entirely reasonable; Naruto and Sasuke acted like angsty children!

The fact that only Shikamaru passed out of that year is a bit eyebrow-raising, but I suspect it's just deliberately hard to pass on your first try (because, again, what they're really looking for is maturity) - every named character ultimately made it.

The issue really comes to Kishimoto not respecting the masses and unnamed people needing to be fodder to him, really. It ain't just a chunin thing but among all the ranks, the Jonin and ANBU are just the same- Everyone who ain't a named character is disposable test dummy only meant to be fucked up to hype someone else, what in turn undermines what the rank means and breaks the logic at times like this when you consider how strong they should had been instead

33 upvotes on reddit
DenseCalligrapher219 · 1 year ago

It makes me wonder what purpose does ranking serve when non-named ninjas are ultimately just fodder? If you are gonna have ranking based on skill than have that actually MATTER as opposed to it just being arbitrary and skill being based more on character relevancy.

This problem crops up again and again in different ways.

Authors want to make stuff cool and flashy, so they come up with those insane institutions and practices. Like groups that supposedly train/teach people and it's really important to get in because it's your best chance at growth - but they just throw people into danger and expect them to git good (Instead of teaching).

Or like Naruto - another example of this is the Witcher. So, you survived the mutations and completed years of training and education, hours and hours of our time? Let's force you to take a test where maybe a quarter of you are expected to die. Wasted resources who? We're badass and have badass backstories - that's a requirement.

Elite combat schools/organizations killing off their recruits was always a dumb trope for me. Imagine if Navy Seal training was designed to kill off its dropouts. Or fighter pilots had to do a live combat test to graduate where they either pass or die with their jets.

Or fighter pilots had to do a live combat test to graduate where they either pass or die with their jets.

Fighter pilots are probably the closest this trope comes to reality. In reality, it's obviously not the point that the pilot is supposed to die if they fail, but training exercises can be extremely dangerous and there have been a lot of pilot deaths as a result of training exercise accidents.

It happens less these days, but it was rampant back in the 50s-60s early Cold War period. The most infamous was the F-104, which had such a high loss rate that some countries ended up losing almost half their fleet in crashes with the pilot often dying in the crash.

There's even one particular case of a German WW2 pilot who was selected to test fly an experimental new design which used highly corrosive fuel that surrounded the cockpit. He had to crash land shortly after take off and, while this wouldn't have been a problem for most conventional aircraft, the fragile tanks ruptured and dissolved him alive.

I’d say no. Weird thing about a lot of the part 1 genin (or well some are chunin by Retrieval Arc) is that most of them have jonin level techniques/moves but they tend to be so taxing (eg. Sasuke can only do a couple chidoris, red pill nearly kills Choji) or require certain conditions (eg. Rasengan requires a shadow clone, sand tsunami requires Gaara to put sand in the ground first to use) that they are clearly not high jonin level when looking at them as a whole.

(To clarify I think Sasuke, Naruto and Gaara are jonin level, but closer to low-mid)

Part one adult kakashi was in the hospital for a week after using his sharingan vs zabuza for a couple minutes. He could only use chidori a few times a day. He stopped spamming sharingan and got weak.

Itachi is well above High/Elite Jonin level. Shortly after leaving the Ambu is when he had that fight with Orochimaru that made him leave the Akatsuki

Ambu Kakashi is even stronger than Part 1 Kakashi who is Elite Jonin Teir

This version of Nagato needed help from Konan and Yahiko just to defeat a Shadow clone of Base Jiraya. So I’d say that he’s probably not High Jonin level yet

Kimmimaro fight Gaara is definitely High Jonin level. Because he’s able to hold his own against Kimmimaro who should be High Jonin level

Final Valley Naruto is not High Jonin Teir. Kakashi while fatigued from using Kamui was still fast enough to blitz an Older 2 Tails Naruto. So if a High Jonin Teir character can blitz a Older 2 tails Naruto then a younger 1 tails Naruto isnt High Jonin Teir

What makes you think Kimmimaro is high jonin?

And KN0 Naruto performs well enough for relativity while holding his power for the Sasuke fight.

Nothing actually suggests Kimmimaro is leagues above CM2 Sasuke at all. Also Drunken Lee should still be comparable if not below CE Sasuke via “Strongest shinobi Gaara ever faced” statement, putting him above 5th Gate Lee. And Lee have decent feats against Kimmimaro

Kimmimaro was able to fight off an army of Thousands KN0 Naruto clones in base. Mind you that Naruto’s clone spam in base form was enough to force Gaara into a full Biju transformation. And he’s essentially fighting off a Kyubi chakra amped version of the same thing

Then the Curse Mark 2 state has a 10x multiplier ( Jirobo tells Choji that the second state curse mark makes you 10x stronger)

Honestly Kimmimaro could arguably be low-Kage level

“And KN0 Naruto performs well enough for relativity while holding his power for the Sasuke fight”

I’m not exactly sure what you mean here. Can you elaborate

“Nothing actually suggests Kimmimaro is leagues above CM2 Sasuke at all”

He has a much easier time dealing with KC0 Naruto in base than Sasuke did. And KC0 Naruto didn’t spam an army Kyubi amped clones against Sasuke like he did against Kimmimaro. So Sasuke should have had an easier time

So if Kimmimaro is clearly stronger base to base then his CM2 form should be stronger as well

“Also Drunken Lee should still be comparable if not below CE Sasuke via “Strongest shinobi Gaara ever faced” statement, putting him above 5th Gate Lee”

Drunken Lee pushed Kimmimaro further than KN0 Naruto did. And again Sasuke was struggling against 1 KN0 Naruto let alone the army of them that Kimmimaro defeated

Reality is that at the end of the 4th war both Kakashi and Obito are 31yo, meaning they were always the same age (month up or down). Fact is that they participated in the chuunin exams together, so you can either believe Kakashi made chuunin at 11 or that he already was but had to do it again in order to complete the team. Whatever you prefer.

Now, in ep. Sh.386 we get the results of the first part, the written test. Here are the names of those who passed:

https://preview.redd.it/2nbrudgzsp6f1.png?width=366&format=png&auto=webp&s=5afc695ba6d6cb014abffd1bc0d57ee92a2be7b5

Uh, what? What do you mean you can’t see anything? Sigh, ok, let me put my very limited and totally not awesome Japanese knowledge to work and make it easier for you:

https://preview.redd.it/fmjr5h81tp6f1.png?width=1625&format=png&auto=webp&s=8bfe43b31e65409a842245dd443c4c79bd4f4a3a

Purple names are written in hiragana and blue names are in katakana, the two syllabaries in Japanese language. But ignore them, the important ones are in green, because they’re the characters we know.

Here is where the oddities start. Just take a look at whose name is there and whose isn’t, and compare them with the next picture:

https://preview.redd.it/i2gr4kd4tp6f1.png?width=984&format=png&auto=webp&s=f0ec878bf3ca1c6189f1100320f8b954042671c6

¿Notice anything? The teams are mismatched in age. Aside Kakashi’s team, who are all supposed to be 11 (Kakashi was already chuunin, Rin promoted at first try and Obito promoted second chance that same year), all others are different. Gai is 11, Ebisu is 13 and Genma is 14; Asuma and Kurenai are both 12 while Raidou is already 16, despite his childish look; Anko is only 9 (teammates unknown); Ibiki is 12 and Hayate is barely 8!

(How can Raidou and Hayate look pretty much the same when the first is literally twice the age as the second is beyond me O_O!)

Another thing, let me spell it for you: Ebisu shouldn’t be here, because his name wasn’t in the list of those who passed the first part, the written test. Neither Tokara nor Anko’s teammates (I’ll get to that point later). My only guess is that at this time, teams weren’t broken even if one teammate failed. The person could continue on, but they wouldn’t be promoted anymore. This is further supported by the next picture:

https://preview.redd.it/kr2smud6tp6f1.png?width=984&format=png&auto=webp&s=899cfb6b96424c53e70d3c935e85ca5db2817b3c

Again, Ebisu and Tokara shouldn’t be still here, but whatever. Remember I mentioned Anko’s teammates twice? Here they are, in the tournament. Apparently their names start with Sa- and Ma-, but nobody in the previous list fits such names. One of the teammates looks like a Hyuuga and there was indeed a Hyuuga that passed the written test, but his name was Tetsu, not Ma-/Sa-, hence it’s not this one.

https://preview.redd.it/xsgfdyl9tp6f1.png?width=984&format=png&auto=webp&s=2e52f11b3f11e530ad07cc2413e9c9203caf058b

Last but not least, if you, like me, wanted to know the order in which everyone became chuunin, I did the ages math for you with the data we’ve been provided with until now. Missing characters is because we don’t know at what age they were promoted:

  • Year 0 - Genma (yes, he too was already a chuunin during these exams)
  • Year 1 - Kakashi (already chuunin), Rin, Obito (second try of year), Gai, Asuma and Shizune (who by age should be here but for some reason is nowhere to be found)
  • Year 2 - Kurenai
  • Year 3 - X
  • Year 4 - Ibiki, Anko
  • Year 5 - Ebisu
  • Year 6 - Hayate

BONUS!

In case someone noticed (or nobody did, either way). There are a few interesting names in that testing list, like…

https://preview.redd.it/ku56n5petp6f1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=cf1429dfa61b8e03761645cbf21952c0e6210cfe

That old man that took the exam with Naruto and co.? He was already at it fifteen years ago, when he was 23. Also the Kakashi wannabe, who had a total screentime of perhaps one second and half before being killed by Zabuza in a memory. And finally Sukima, but clearly the 17yo boy isn’t the same as the one in the list.

Honestly I just always thought Kishimoto kinda messed up with the ages of Kakashi's contemporaries or simply forgot some details. When we see the academy orientation, Hayate is there with Kakashi and the others. Kakashi would have been around 5 or 6, so Hayate, being a few years younger, would have still been a toddler, lol. I like your post, it's fun to think about.

Thank you! :-) I know nothing of this is vital info, but I enjoy curiosities and thought that maybe someone else would to, ha ha.

Man, I love Naruto but it's so clear that many things were just thrown around all over the place without much consderation...

¡Muchas gracias! ^o^

Naruto finds out everyone else has a System

Posted by Ok-Caregiver-6005 · in r/NarutoFanfiction · 3 months ago

All Ninjas have access to a system that allows them to learn and often times use Jutsus as well as increase their abilities, stats and use unique skills, except Naruto. Because he came from the Uzimaki clan and his dad was a ninja everyone just assumed he had access to it.

When a normal person gains access to the system they can enter the academy and and become a ninja, this always happens in childhood and is how Sakura became a Ninja.

Sasuke learned Fireball Jutsu before gaining access to the system which is a sign of talent. Naruto on the other hand just never got the system so what he was able to acomplish in the academy truly impressive.

It only comes out Naruto doesn't have access to the system when Sakura asks him about his stat spread and he has no idea what he's talking about, after this Hiruzen is forced to use a rare and expensive medicine to give Naruto Access to the system.

Naruto noticies he has a Title "Asura" that boosts his XP if he trains with other people and has a synergy is he trains with someone with the "Indra" Title thus he starts training more with Sasuke. Naruto also has the Jinchuriki Skill but it has insane XP requirements and leveling it gives him more access to Kurama's power, luckily he also has the Secret Skill Bijuu Synchronization which reduces the XP needed for his Jinchuriki skill from 100,000 XP per level to 1,000 XP and not only that but he can also copy the attributes of other Bijuu he comes across.

Then the Chunin Exams start.

While i love the idea, my take would be maybe push the discovery to after they bring back tsunade? That way it plays into sasuke’s insecurities and could have a fun twist on if sasuke chooses to defect for orochimaru or stay for the naruto exp boost even through his feelings of inadequacy

I feel like that makes Naruto to good if he was able to keep up to the degree he did by that point.

Yeah and Sasuke leaving would hinder his development since "Indra" is gone, this also makes him go on to train with jiraiya to focus on the nine-tails which slows his development further since he won't be training with a lot of people while on the move. As for why he chose to focus on the nine-tails, that's because he felt he was strong enough on his but was sevrely lacking in that area.

I could see him staying if not for the xp boost then definitely for his pride. Even Naruto didn't need outside power to grow strong enough to beat Gaara who he struggled with. Why would he denigrate himself to begging Orochimaru for power when Naruto didn't even have the system at all? His Saiyan pride, I mean his Uchiha pride wouldn't allow it!

It’s hilarious how many fanfics making Sasuke into mini early vegeta. And even that embarrassing because Vegeta had a lot of growth.

Altruistic-Parsley81 · 3 months ago

I see him leaving, playing into his "Indra" Title that should let him develop better only when he is with "Asura" or around environments that foster negative emotions, you so he can boost his sharingan.

Sasuke and Sakura would be shocked hearing Naruto didn't have access to the system and start wondering how weak they really are if Naruto was able to reach his capabilities without the cheat of a system they were using.

godzero62 · 3 months ago

That would definitely impress Sasuke and maybe irk him a bit. I can even see Sasuke not joining Orochimaru because "Even Naruto can achieve power without begging for handouts."

Kinda reminds me of "everyone else is a returnee," but he doesn't get years of frozen time to train in as many weapons as possible (or whatever was going on during that time, I haven't read it in a while)

It would have been better if Naruto was kept without system, that way his archivements would have real merit to them.

So Naruto is cracked, then?

He doesn't have a system but somehow still ends up as one of the strongest dudes in his generation? That's impressive.

I think Naruto NOT getting access to the system is better than him getting it late. Makes him more impressive.

I'd maybe place Guy above Juubito but other than that, it seems bang on. Put Edo Nagato next at 8 then probably SM Kabuto

What are the ninja levels in Naruto

In the Naruto series, ninja levels are categorized primarily into ranks known as "ninja ranks" or "ninja levels." Here’s a breakdown of the main ranks:

Ninja Ranks

  1. Genin (下忍):

    • The lowest rank of ninja.
    • Typically, newly graduated from the Ninja Academy.
    • Assigned to teams under a Jonin leader for missions.
  2. Chunin (中忍):

    • The middle rank of ninja.
    • Achieved through the Chunin Exams, which test combat skills, strategy, and teamwork.
    • Responsible for leading Genin teams and taking on more complex missions.
  3. Jonin (上忍):

    • The highest standard rank of ninja.
    • Highly skilled and experienced, often leading Chunin and Genin on missions.
    • May also serve as instructors in the Ninja Academy.
  4. Kage (影):

    • The leader of a ninja village, such as Hokage (Leaf Village), Kazekage (Sand Village), etc.
    • Responsible for the safety and governance of the village.
    • Considered the strongest ninja in their respective village.

Special Ranks

  • ANBU (暗部):

    • A special black ops unit that undertakes covert missions.
    • Members are typically elite Jonin and operate under the direct orders of the Kage.
  • Sannin (三忍):

    • A title given to three legendary ninjas: Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade.
    • Known for their exceptional skills and contributions to the ninja world.

Key Takeaways

  • Progression: Ninja progress through ranks based on skill, experience, and successful completion of missions.
  • Team Structure: Genin typically work in teams, while Chunin and Jonin may lead these teams or operate independently.
  • Leadership: Kage are the ultimate authority in their villages, with immense responsibility and power.

Understanding these ranks provides insight into the hierarchy and structure of the ninja world in Naruto.
