Tailed Beasts in Naruto

Overview of Tailed Beasts

In the "Naruto" series, tailed beasts are powerful entities made of chakra, each possessing unique abilities and personalities. They range from one to nine tails, with the number of tails generally indicating their power level [4:4]. These beasts are known as bijuu and can be sealed within human hosts called jinchūriki, granting them immense power [5:1].

Individual Tailed Beasts

The most prominent tailed beast is Kurama, the Nine-Tails, which is sealed within Naruto Uzumaki. Kurama is often depicted as the strongest due to its high number of tails and significant role in the series [4:2]. Other notable tailed beasts include Shukaku, the One-Tail, associated with Gaara; Matatabi, the Two-Tails, known for its kind personality; and Gyūki, the Eight-Tails, partnered with Killer Bee [4:1][4:3].

Tailed Beast Abilities

Each tailed beast has distinct abilities and characteristics. For example, Shukaku has sand-based powers, while Son Goku, the Four-Tails, has lava release abilities [3:1][4:7]. Despite their formidable powers, many tailed beasts were captured by the Akatsuki organization during the series [1:3].

Gender and Biology

There is debate over whether tailed beasts have genders. Although they exhibit masculine or feminine voices, they are primarily chakra-based entities without biological sex organs [2:1][2:6]. This means they cannot reproduce and are essentially immortal, reappearing after being killed [2:1].

Naruto's Connection to Tailed Beasts

Naruto maintains a connection with all tailed beasts, having fragments of their chakra within him, allowing him to access their powers [5:1]. However, only Kurama resides fully within him, serving as his primary source of strength [5:2].

These discussions provide a comprehensive view of the tailed beasts' roles and characteristics in the "Naruto" universe. Each beast contributes uniquely to the storyline, adding depth to the series' exploration of power, friendship, and identity.

How much destruction from the tailed beats did we actually see in Naruto?

Other than 8-9 tails and Shukaku (because their hosts were main characters) the other ones didn’t seem to put up a fight against the Akatsuki.

Umm series wise I don't think they have sex organs but lore wise they have masculine and feminine voices for each one of them but yea none of them can procreate reason why they just revive over time unless they respectively use baryon mode.

50 upvotes on reddit
Yervax · 3 years ago

Baryon mode doesn't exist. Everything in Boruto is from a false timeline because there's no way in any form of hell, that Naruto and Sasuke would lose to anyone. If baryon mode was a thing, I guarantee Kurama would have mentioned it during the 4th great ninja war, not waited until plot armor forces Naruto to lose to a nobody Otsutsuki like Isshiki

Kurama invented baryon mode after the fourth great ninja war though.. Plus, even with all the bad things that happened in Boruto, wouldn’t it be kinda bad for everything to be a dream or sum shit? And, Naruto and Sasuke are the strongest Sabino I to ever live, not the strongest people. For example: Ten Tails Hagoromo would put up a very serious fight against Shippuden or even Boruto Naruto and Sasuke (in my opinion maybe even win but thats up for debate)

Gender and Biological sex are separate. Kurama is a man but biologically is just pure chakra.

13 upvotes on reddit
FactCheckerJack · 3 years ago

Based on their voices, they seem to. It's like 7 men, 2 women.

There's lots of things that are represented as having genders and can't reproduce, like action figures, video game characters, etc. The So6P may have created them to have gender expressions, but not certain gendered features. Also, they are arguably different species. Also, they seem to be chakra-based entities, not biological entities, so they may not have the biomatter for reproduction. Most importantly, I think we can conclude that, if they haven't reproduced yet after all of this time, then it's a stretch that they can or would in the future.

94 upvotes on reddit
LORD_HOKAGE_ · OP · 3 years ago

The definition of a male is an organism with sperm that can reproduce. Those things are representations of males and females but I’m asking are they actually a male or female. An action figure is plastic. Plastic can’t reproduce.

-113 upvotes on reddit
CallOfDutyZombaes · 3 years ago

In your title you talked about sexy jutsu having a vagina which in that case would have nothing to do with male or female, kinda like a plastic barbie doll if given a vagina would represent female but not actually be female.

Carnivorous_Ape_ · 3 years ago

They're in a show so they're even less than plastic

-DeVaughn- · 3 years ago

The tailed beasts are just chakra though. They may look like animals, but they’re actually just pure energy. I doubt they’d be able to reproduce sexually because they aren’t biological creatures. That’s why they can’t truly be killed, they’ll just reappear somewhere else down the road if you try to kill ‘em (like the three tails). Only way for them to die is to have all their energy used up.

the tailed beasts' chakra fragments remain within Naruto, allowing his body to act as their "meeting ground". Of course he freed the other tailed beasts from himself only leaving 50% of their individual chakra inside him. Kurama is the only tailed beast inside him right now but he can still change the nature of his chakra to that of 1-8 tails if he wants.

What Are Ōtsutsuki Spirit beasts?

Posted by Borusumi_ · in r/Boruto · 3 months ago

Guys, am I the only one who noticed that every Ōtsutsuki seems to have a divine beast that embodies the essence of their existence? Like:

Momoshiki: A phoenix (symbolizing rebirth).

Kinshiki: The gaint ass lava gorilla (he didn’t use it himself, but Momoshiki summoned it after absorbing him—probably symbolizing brute strength).

Urashiki: That giant ass fish (possibly referencing the tale of Urashima Tarō).

Kaguya: A giant ass rabbit (since in Japanese folklore, rabbits are believed to live on the moon, and “Kaguya-hime” is the moon princess).

So… WHAT IF NUE IS ALSO A SPIRIT BEAST OF SOME FALLEN ŌTSUTSUKI?!?!

REMEMBER? There were two Ōtsutsuki on Earth before Kaguya and Isshiki. What if Nue belonged to one of them? WHAT IF IT'S SHIBAI? That would explain how Boruto was able to summon Nue!

I don't think we'll ever see Boruto do huge destructive techniques, Ikemoot seems to prefer small-scale fights.

Of the rest, huge chakra avatars are quite useless against enemies that can absorb chakra.

Ikemoto doesn't like giant chakra avatars very much, given how he quickly dismissed them against Jigen, so I doubt it.

[crack prompt] Jinchuriki and fairy tales of beasts

Posted by Ungrateful-Wolf · in r/NarutoFanfiction · 20 days ago

Basically everything's mostly the same... except aside from a very limited range of people, nobody believes Tailed Beasts exist.

Everyone thinks the Bijuus are fairy tales. Giant beasts start rampaging? Come on, we all saw it came from one ninja, it must've either been a summon or a very elaborate Genjutsu. Everybody knows Bijuus aren't real.

Kushina told her husband, who had a hard time believing it at the time until his wife gave birth and the demon showed up. To this day, people still think it was a conspiracy and that it was only a technique that was tailored to look like a kyuubi, instead of an actual one, since kitsunes are pure fiction.

Naruto still grows up not knowing his parents are, not because of Kurama, but because they simply assume there was a target painted on the Yondaime and his wife, so he grows up without a last name and Hiruzen tries to hide the kid's identity to give him a shot at a normal life without "flee-on-sight" parents.

Naruto actually meets Kurama during his Academy years, who's very nonplussed about how everyone thinks he and his siblings are cheap tricks, and that Naruto is either incredibly gullible or incredibly clever for believing he's talking to a nine-tailed demon sealed inside his body (to this day, Kushina's spirit is still itching to tell her husband's spirit "I TOLD YOU SO" inside the seal).

Mizuki still tries to get Naruto killed or in trouble, not because the kid's got a demon in him... but because Kushina humiliated him when he was still an Academy student (he humiliated himself and pinned the blame on her) and beat him up out of nowhere (nowhere being him insulting her hair while she was on a date with Minato). Naruto initially really assumed it was because of Kurama, but nope, Mizuki thinks Naruto's dumb while Iruka offhandedly notes it's cute how Naruto believes in silly things like ghosts and fairy tales now that he's a Genin.

Naruto grows up without the hatred of the village but still aiming to gain appreciation because he feels invisible sometimes, having had no family and envying Sasuke for having Itachi to support him, the Uchiha Clan being on good terms with the rest of Konoha since anyone could've created the fox genjutsu, so nobody gets blamed (if anything, anyone seeing the Nine-Tails with a Sharingan is a blatant proof someone was trying to frame the Uchihas), so no massacre.

Orochimaru and Kabuto don't believe in them either, thinking Jiraiya's finally gone senile and chalking up Naruto's chakra resources to be because of him being an Uzumaki with exceptional reserves. The corrosiveness and beast-like transformation is clearly just a child's attempt to look threatening with a fancy jutsu that could've easily been stolen or copied from the Inuzukas.

Gaara's siblings and father just think Gaara's just a legitimate nutcase/threat with his insecurities being doubled by the idea nobody believes Shukaku is real, they don't believe the thought that his mom contained a demon currently residing within Gaara.

Rare are the people who do believe in the existence of the Bijuus. Tobi does, for one (Zetsu grew so damn frustrated with the kid's cynicism and skepticism that he outright revealed Kakashi killed Rin because she held the Three-Tail rather than because she had become crazy under torture, because she kept telling Minato and Kakashi about Isobu and they didn't believe her at all, forcing her to commit suicide without any seal on her mouth needed because her jailers knew nobody would believe her), but never tells it to Akatsuki members because he knows some hardly believe the Madara lie already, so adding onto it is just counterproductive, he just tells them to target specific people with freakish amounts of chakra without telling them why.

Nagato does believe in Tailed Beasts, but only because he, Konan and Yahiko witnessed his Rinnegan in action and became open to the idea of anything happening (because of that, they're also incredibly gullible while still edgy af after Yahiko's death). Tobi's the only one to understand how the Rinnegan works as well, because everyone else thinks that Pain and his Paths are just a very small doujutsu clan who try to make themselves look cool with the "so-called eyes of the Sage of Six Paths".

The most insane part is because some of the seals are half-assed due to Hashirama's notes being ignored or piped up as false documents he might've written while he was drunk, the Jinchuriki can let their Bijuus out for a moment in a tiny form, and people will still believe they're just chakra constructs done as a prank or a decoy based on the tale of the Tailed Beasts. Naruto has a tiny Kurama on his shoulders while facing Gaara who has a growling mini-Shukaku on his head, their beasts trading insults while their teammates go "Wow, Gaara/Naruto, I didn't know you knew so many archaic swear words to put in your chakra illusion, you must've really been hitting those books at the library".

(for that, Sasuke ends up guessing that perhaps Naruto wasn't lying or being his regular loudmouthed self, since there's no way he could keep in mind so many fancy words, but still has a hard time believing it)

The Jinchurikis live dull and uneventful lives for the most part, because they have issues people rarely believe them about, something akin to invisible disabilities on the social scene, and it makes finding people who actually believe them a miracle, let alone meeting another Jinchuriki.

The "Dattebayo" being translated into "Believe it!" is really a plea at this point, because so many people are arbitrarily refusing to believe in those creatures, they keep brushing off the Jinchurikis whenever there's any trouble.

Karin has used her regenerative abilities a fair amount of times and she doesn't look a day older than people around her age, like Sakura.

I'd say Kurama, not because of the obvious go figure reason lmao, but because of his abilities alone. His regenerative abilities are wild, and I mean there is a drawback that it can hurt you, but if you reach resonance with the beast you're good. Massive Chakra reserves.
